Grey square boxes on display, touch input finicky, H918 - LG V20 Questions & Answers

2 month into a new V20 (H918 t mobile), I now have about 6 grey boxes on the display, it sometime bleeds into the second display as well.
I was on NSS 6.5, after having the issue I tried factory reset and jumped on to WETA 5.04a. Problem persists.
Tried pulling the battery a few times also. The grey boxes shows up first during the LG boot logo and sometime changes in brightness and stays permanently on screen.
My input is way off too, sometimes tapping on the screen does nothing.
My suspicion is that the hardware went bad, did any one else experience this issue?
Please let me know if this is fixable, or do I need to RMA with LG.
Also do I need to LGUP the KDZ before sending it back to LG?

Same problem with another 2 month old LG V20 (H918) . After loosing a bootlooping G4 and a G5 with the GPS malfunction, I will no longer consider LG devices.

What is wrong with my screen?

I had a Korean LG G2 for a week a while back. However, on the 7th day the screen exhibit some strange problems. Which I returned it to the seller.
I've tried to google this problem but I (1) cannot find the right search terms and (2) do not see anyone with this problem. I was on a custom rom and flashed it back to stock rom but the problem persists. It feels like a mix of overheat and faulty screen.
As you can tell the clock widget is "stuck" on several screens (even recovery). If I put the phone in the fridge or leave it untouched overnight it reverts back to normal and usable for 15 mins then the problems comes up again.
I want to ask what is this problem and is it prevalent in korean LG G2?
I really like LG G2 but fear of buying another one that has this same problem.
Anyone has any ideas?
Yesterday I've noticed similar problem, I use swiftkey with a red theme and white letters (I don't think it's app's fault) and after displaying it for some time and then switching to other screen it looks like the keyboard is "burned" on the screen. It's not visible on color background but on medium light gray it's easy to seen. After some time without using keyboard it disappears.

It seems that this is similar to the black line issue some people had. If you have warranty send it back. I think only way to fix is to change the panel and/or digitizer
Before you send it back, have you downloaded any new ROMs? Flashed CWM/TWRP? Because when I did the following I had a problem similar to that. It appeared that whatever my phone was running did not support my type of screen, therefore I downloaded a specific type of Kernel that fixed it right up. If you think this applies to you I will try to dig up what Kernel it was.

[Q] Screen problems after flash

Hey all. My G2 was hard bricked to a point where it didn't even turn on, but with aftabalam8c2's help I could get it to a state where I could flash the phone. I flashed it with a 10b tot image, but after flashing I instantly noticed that the screen has many problems: sometimes it doesn't respond and there are random ghost touches all the time, even when I don't touch the screen. I double checked all connections, made a factory reset, flashed a 20h kdz image and updated touch screen software, but nothing helped.
A week before the brick, I had changed the screen, but everything was working perfectly until the bricking.
I am quite desperate, because the phone is completely unusable right now and I don't know what else to do.
You can see a video of the screen problems here.
Update: I noticed that when I put pressure on a specific point on the left bottom corner of the screen, the screen works normally. Might this hint that the screen is faulty?
Bump. Any help or tips are welcome.
I had ghost touches right after I bought my G2. I tried everything, change rom, kernel, firmware, flash via kdz, everything. I bricked my phone trying to fix my problem and I send it to LG (warranty) . They replace my motherboard and send phone to me. After I turn on g2 problem was back after 20 mins, so I send it again and then they replace my all screen too.
Since then (3 months ago) everything is perfect so I guess you should fix your screen/digitizer.
Thank you for the tip. I was already thinking it might be the screen, although it worked perfectly before I bricked the phone. Sadly I don't have a replacement screen at hand, but I sent a message to the screen seller, asking for a replacement. Now I just have to wait and see.
Interesting is that my phone was off for a few days and now, after turning it back on, the ghosting is almost gone, but some spots on the screen are unresponsive or oversensitive.
Edit: I made a touch test and found out that there are two large dead zones on the screen. I guess the problem really is in the screen then.
Funny thing is this that I haven't had any dead zone just ghost touches

This happened two days ago with my wife's S7 Edge. She was using it to text me about dinner plans after work, her screen shut off, and it wouldn't work for several hours. The thing was getting very hot. When she was home and charging the phone the screen started working again for a little while, but with several green stripes down the right edge snd aa flashing horizontal band of grey near the top overlaying the screen image. Then when I tried plugging it into my computer to use Samsung's Smart Switch to roll back from the update she had accepted while at work the screen died again. It has not come on since, not even the stripes, and blue or red LED lights once in a wwhile at random. I managed to use Smart Switch to wipe the phone's memory. Then the program took several hours to download something very slowly and install that - a whole new OS update? That completed, and now the charging LED works correctly and the green stripes and grey band are back, flashing rapidly when powering on. Otherwise no screen function.
She is now trying to find a new phone, but definitely NOT a Samsung. This S7 Edge has already had the screen replaced once, just before the first year warranty ran out, as it did almost the same thing - in March the green striping (plus pink) appeared along one edge and the battery was running out very fast, the phone overheating so much that she found it uncomfortable to hold. We argued with Samsung a lot until they replaced the screen. Something is VERY wrong with this model. She's considering an LG. What a waste of money. One would expect a thousand dollar phone to last longer than this.
I am facing what I think to be the same issue with my son's phone. Green line down right side edge. Screen turns on for a second, then black screen. It's on, but can't do anything. Did you find a fix for this?
No. Today I gave up and took my wife's S7 Edge to the authorized repair centre. They say they'll run a diagnostic for $25, and if the screen needs to be replaced it will cost $385. Brilliant. If this thing gets fixed I will be running custom ROMs on the phone, probably an RR, as it seems Samsung's OTA updates kill phones.
Turned in out the authorized repair centre for our region, Acura in Surrey, BC, went ahead with the screen replacement without our authorization. I specifically said in a note given to them at the time that they were to ask first. But they didn't bother. My wife decided she liked the phone enough to pay over $400 to get it back. It's been working for a few weeks now. Hope it stays working. At this point I have a strong feeling that the S7 Edge was a poorly made device, at least some batches. The reports of these screen failures are just too common.
Check if your screen still alive or maybe connected correctly, here is a way to do it:
1- plug it in your computer then start smart switch
2- dail *#7353#
3- you can now test any thing in your phone
4- search for the TSP
5- try now to touch your device screen
If it display in the computer that mean the touch is working but the screen is not
If the toch is not working you have to check the cables if its connected correctly inside your phone
But if you have warranty don't waste your time and let them fix it, and don't forget to backup your files

Help! LG V20 extreme lag after kernel crash

Hello,
Yesterday my rooted LG v20 h990ds got a kernel crash (green screen). I pulled the battery and after that I noticed no difference.
Today I woke up and noticed that the phone was really slow. Somehow the touchscreen was not always responsive so I had to lock and unlock it again.
I couldn't figure out what it was and I thought that maybe it was caused by the root. So I did a factory reset and went back to stock (LGUP). Unfortunately the problem is still there. Does anybody know what it is? Could it be a hardware defective?
Thanks in advance!
edit:
After a few tests it seems to be the digitizer. I've installed an app to test the digitizer.
Sometimes the screen sees a short touch as a long touch. That's why it opens extra options when I try to type a letter.
I've opened up the phone to see if there was any moisture damage visible, fortunately that was not the case.
Is it still possible that this is a software problem? Or do I have to buy a new screen?
edit 2:
The phone is functioning normally again. I disconnected the screen cable and plugged it back in again. Probably it was a loose contact.
