I have two queations:
1. I resently purchased a new Galaxy S8+ and cannot find an easy way to turn my Data on or off. On my old Note 4 I could access it by dragging down from the top and turning it on or off. It seems to be missing from the drag down options and instead I have to go into Settings several levels to do the same thing.
2. I am also thinking about getting a wireless charger. How good they work with the Galaxy S8+? How well does it work with a drop proof case?
Rev. Michael L. Burns
It's simply there in the drop-down menu. If not then your carrier locked it out.
Cases can and will block wireless charging. Maybe a thin case won't.

Pull down notification panel, then expand it fully, you will see it there. If that's too many steps the re-arrange your quick settings shortcuts in the notification panel

So, I am now on my 5th N10 (FFS), and my latest replacement appears to have a very strange bug. This has happened to me twice in the last 24 hours.
The bug is this: On (occasionally) rotating the device, the N10 turns 'off' and crashes to the lock screen. The lock screen cannot then be exited. Swiping to unlock just re-crashes to the lock screen, as does swiping one of the top panel menus (e.g. trying to go into settings etc.). Rebooting the device also fails to sort it out. To get back past the lock screen (I discovered this by accident), I have to disable the wifi (e.g. put it into airplane mode). After that it's fine.
Haven't yet tried a factory reset. If it happens again I'll take a short video.
Anyone else seen this?
Are you using any covers on your tablet?
I use one on mine which have a magnet for locking, and one of its features is auto locking/unlocking the tab when you open/close the cover.
It could be that it gets activated when you fold the cover on the backside.

I am, and that has crossed my mind. If it happens again I'll take the cover off and see if that does anything. Strange, though, that of the two times it has happened I was unable to get past the lock screen until the wifi went off, then it was instant. Been using this cover for a couple of months now though, and this has never happened before.
*EDIT* Just tested the old Nexus (not yet sent it back) by laying it flat on the case and it replicates the problem. So looks like magnets to me. Very odd that it should happen with this case though. Never happened before.
1. Toolbox is awesome. kinda like Sammy's version of Halo. Can be enabled thru settings or quicksettings.
2. Idk if this is new or not but TouchWiz messaging app has a cool quick reply popup.
3.Take better pics with "Picture Stabilizer" off and ISO on "Auto".
4. Enable call notification popups and in call status popus, from the call settings. Both awesome features.
5. One handed fingerprint.
6. DL Booster enabler/alternative.
7. Check out power saving mode and new options for it.
8. Long press recent soft key will bring up the menu on most apps.
9. Enable developer options and change transition animation scale to .5x or off.
10. Go into S-Voice and disable double tapping home key to open, now your home key will be much more responsive.
Feel free to add to the list!
Long press recent soft key bring up menu within apps. On homescreen will bring up home screen options

Can you eloborate on #2 a little bit. I've heard about this but can't seem to figure out how to enable it. Is it supposed to be like LGs sms pop up?

Go to the stock TW messaging app... settings... notifications... and then enable popup display!
Here's my one handed fingerprint scan technique:
1) Hold the phone with the pinky supporting the bottom of the screen.
2) Rest your thumb over the home button at a natural angle, with the upper inside corner of the home button touching in the middle of your thumb.
3) Flick your thumb downwards.
4) When setting it up, make sure to slightly vary your angle and speed each time. If you use a consistent speed and angle, it will only register that specific speed and angle. You are given ten examples per finger -- take advantage of it.
5) To increase my chances further, I mapped the same thumb on two profiles. The third one is for the same thumb when I'm holding it in my other hand.
The results are very accurate. 90% of the time on the first swipe, 99% by the second, and 100% by the third.

If you don't need the waterproof cover over the charging port it is easy to remove:
Remove the back cover
Remove the screw on the left from the charging port with Phillips 00 screwdriver
Pry the piece of plastic under the removed screw.
Remove the charging port cover.
Reassemble in the reverse order.
This procedure doesn't expose any internal components, there is no way to damage anything, even if you are clumsy.

WHAT IF something involving a liquid did happen to your device though? I' sure you'd be quite pissed that your device could've survived man!

The rest of the phone is still protected, and you will be able to store that flimsy cover for the times when it will be needed. I'm not sure it will remain tight for long if opened and closed every day. It is easy to reinstall the cover before a beach or camping trip.

How do you figure that the rest of the phone will still be protected? If someone spills water or something on your device, it's not gonna not go in the charging port and avoid it lol.......... you will be screwed dude..

As I said, this is a matter of security vs. convenience. Not everyone is art risk of a spillage at all times. I've had cell phones for over 20 years, and never had a water intrusion problem. In fact I don't think I eve lost any electronics due to a water damage. Also many people have extended warranties or insurance policies that cover water damage. I think that the risk is miniscule, and the cover is irritating. Samsung probably thought about it and this is why they made this cover easily removable.
This is not an iPhone. You always have a choice.
you can disable the useless "my magazines" by long pressing on homescreen, and unchecking my magazines in the options....and then you also turn it off in apps manager and its gone
its essentially a flipboard widget, and you can't even log into it
I have been searching but no one has asked this. I have the iomounts magnetic holder in one of my vehicles and every time I put the lg V20 verizon phone it shuts off the screen and I can't turn back on the main screen until I take it off the magnet. I can't find the setting to turn it off. Thanks for any help.
This oddly sounds like Quick Cover behavior to me.

If it is quick cover related you can actually turn that off in settings.
On my tmobile v20 it's close to the bottom of the settings page under the "System" heading. "Quick Cover Case" and there's a slider to turn the quick cover feature on or off.
I'll be interested to see if this works for you!
Do you realize the case you bought does say it's not for Verizon model

I contacted proclips and they were able to fix the issue on the at&t version using the quick cover option under smart features under general options. Verizon has determined that we don't need those options as no one should use a magnet mount for phone. I haven't determined how to get that option available even in developer mode. Very frustration

That's pretty messed up! So, essentially, Verizon or someone decided to have the default behavior to be on and then removed the option that controls whether that behavior is off or on?!? The carriers have been making some really baffling choices of this phone.
So weird that I'm just experiencing this for the first time today on my vz v20 after the Dec security update last night. Can't say for sure that it's related to update, but.... I literally used the magnet mount yesterday without the phone going to sleep. Now, every time. Btw my mount is not same brand as yours.
Update: After a stretch of troubleshooting, I found that my problem was the orientation of the metal plate that I placed inside case to connect to magnetic base. While situated in a horizontal position, the plate was carrying too much magnetism over to sensor. When I rotated the plate to vertical, it stopped putting the phone to sleep, because the magnetism couldn't reach the sensor via the plate.
Hi,
My Nexus 6P started to act weirdly 3 days ago. Sometimes when I use it the screen turn off just by moving it a little bit. When it do it it it's only after a few second otherwise it works totally fine. Sometimes I use it in my hand and just putting it in my table or in any flat surfaces turn the screen off and grabing the phone again turn the screen on again... Is there a bad contact or a broken power button ? It feels like shaking the phone a little bit often help. I'm on the latest official Oreo, I have no special app installed and Ambiant Display and this kind of kinds are all disabled, I can only turn the screen on by power button.I have no boot-loop or problems like that. And it seems like it never turn on and off in my pocket.
Do you have an idea what could be the problem ?

I don't want to be an alarmist, but it doesn't sound good. Check your battery capacity with the Accubattery app. Just in case I would make sure your photos are being auto-backed up to the cloud and do a full backup of the phone, storing it on your PC. Enable usb debugging and allow oem unlock under dev settings. If your screen does die completely, you won't be able to get into your phone to do this. If you enable usb debugging, at least you will be able to adb pull any files you need off the phone. Check that battery health.

Yeah thank you buddy ! Don't worry, I do a full TWRP backup of my phone every week. Battery is working great, I don't have the below X% shuting down bug, no bootloop bug and I can do a whole day without charging (except if I play on my phone, which is normal). I'm thinking more about a bad contact of the screen connector or the power button.
I found that it was the magnetic sensor used for the flip cover that cause this Strange behavior. I have a pouch that close with a magnet and it randomly interact with the phone. Is it possible to disable the lock and unlocking by magnet sensor?

The N6P has a magnetic sensor to turn off the screen with Folio case. My Nexus 7 has this feature and I can use my kernel (EX Kernel Manager) to enable/disable it. It is an option to toggle on or off under Settings>>Miscellaneous. That setting is not there for the N6P, but shouldn't be that difficult to implement if you are using EX kernel. I'd ask over in the dedicated EX Kernel thread. Maybe Flar2 can hook you up.

Thank you, I will ask !
I have the model number SM-N975F with CSC XFA.
I purchased the Back LED Cover EF-KN975.
Upon installation, the phone prompts to install the LED icon editor and under Settings->Advanced features->Accessories I only get the option of "LED View Cover".
My LED Cover version is 1.1.44. The issue persisted on Android 9, I have updated to Android 10, and the issue still persists. From what I have gathered online, other users get the option of "LED Cover" which allows options such as mood lighting etc. The option I get is meant for the full led flip cover. For some reason the wrong settings is being loaded. Any help will be greatly appreciated? The Cover has never worked with these settings, not once.
Pictures attached, indicate that the settings loading are for the product EF-NN975 which is in fact a flip cover.
If it is still possible, I would suggest you get a replacement, and check it on-site.
When I put mine on, I have the same as what yours appears to be, my phone automatically installs white "cover content", if that's not happening for you it would seem that you have a "bad" cover (case).
Okay thanks guys, I'm actually getting a new cover as soon as my local Samsung retailer gets more stock as I have reported the issue to them.
Hi, did you manage to find what was the issue? Same happens with my note 10 plus
