Not registered on Network Issue - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi All,
I'm in a bit of a pickle. I got the S7 a while ago and managed to drop it. Got the screen replaced through my bank insurance but since I've got it back, it is coming up with "Not registered on network" error. It also says "Security Notice: Unauthorised actions have been detected. Restart your device to undo any unauthorised changes." Obviously contacted the repair centre but they won't accept any blame, saying they would not have rooted it. I will continue arguing with them but need my phone so am trying to solve it myself. What I've done so far:
1. The phone is not blacklisted - I've checked that (just incase someone had been a numpty and put it as stolen instead of damaged).
2. Installed software which given me the phone info - it shows knox 0x1 meaning the knox flag has been tripped.
3. Tried manually selecting the network but it comes up with an error "Unable to connect. Try again later" and "No service". Note that when I pop the sim in my backup phone (Blackberry 9900 - going waaaaay back now), it works so the SIM is working fine. The phone is locked to Vodafone.
4. Can't upgrade the software (from 6) as the knox flag has tripped.
5. At present, root existence says No.
6. Have also tried all the usual basics - restarting, restoring to factory settings, turning off wifi/going to flight mode.
The only way of resolving it from what I can tell is rooting it but I am not sure of the process and not sure what I am trying to achieve by doing this. So, would appreciate any suggestions for resolving it and a step by step guide if available. Just frustrated I have an amazing phone under warranty which isn't working like a phone atm... Help appreciated in advance!

Another thing to add - just noticed that the IMEI for the phone is different to the IMEI on the box that I had. Neither of the IMEI are blocked but don't understand what the heck has actually been done to the phone.

Thanks and valid. But given the screen was the only part damaged, I don't understand why they'd bother replacing one of the most expensive parts? Anyway, appreciate the input.

Thanks. I'm in the UK and it doesn't seem to be blocked. Checked on www.imeipro.info but if you know any others, happy to check.

Microsoft my Phone tracking

I've lost my phone, haven't blocked it yet or anything in the hope that Microsoft my Phones locate service will help me out. When i lost it was low on Juice, by now it would have died so the locate service isn't working... Im hoping that someone has found it, charges it, sticks their sim card in it and it will be locatable...
Is this the case? The phone will broadcast the IMEI number regardless of what sim is in it yeah? If microsoft my phone isn't finding it, and i'm phoning it several times a day and its saying 'It has not been possible to connect your call, please try again later', im hoping that its dead? If someone was actively using it with a different sim card I would be able to track it right?
I've pretty much written it off now, assuming i'll never find it, i've come to terms with that, but there's always that little bit of hope... Can anyone help please?
Cheers.
Bump.
Sorry to be a pain guys but just a bit of clarification is all i'm after.
Cheers.
Wouldn't it just go right to answerphone if the battery was dead?
Hello, friend. I am really sorry that your phone is gone..I am sure that really stinks...
Well, first: I have never tried that or spoke to a mobile rep about that, but since your phone has a specific adress and its like a vin number, i believe is the IMEI #. And GPS and everything are still in the phone. They can`t delete them or change them. Thus i believe its possible that if you call a Rep and tell them to locate it or something like that, are they supposed to help you? I've heard that iphones have that fiture, that if you loose your phone, they can track it.
That's just my 2 cents. I hope I gave you some hope... Good look mate!
Not good news I'm afraid mate. I've seen quite a few people on here say that the premium MyPhone services don't work.
If someone were to charge it and put a new SIM in it then when they switched it on it would be just like it was when you last had it, so MyPhone would run as often as you had it set to. (I don't know if the tracking is updated upon request or when it syncs.)
If I were you, I'd report it missing, both to your provider and your insurance company. Bad times mate.
so this whole microsoft my phone tracking service doesn't work? Has anyone, or anyone heard of it working...? Would o2 track it and tell me where it is? I heard they won't due to privacy infringement or whatever...but surely thats what these service are in place for, to find a lost phone?
thanks for your replies so far guys.

Have you tried phoning O2 to ask them? It sounds like you've not exactly been too proactive with regards to recovering or safe guarding your phone thus far.
ive been phoning it every day and trying to track it. ive got in touch with the local police station to find out if its been handed in but i cant do that without saying its been stolen and filing a report which im reluctant to do right now if this microsoft my phone service works...

I'm assuming you don't have insurance? I'd think it's safe to say you've lost it, i'd file a report with the local police and try to claim via the insurance if you have it. Getting the IMEI barred is a real last ditch attempt as you can't remove the barred number from your countrys network once it's been done.
The myphone service is linked to the phone by your windows live ID. i would lock it asap with myphone, making the phone useless unless a hard-reset has been performed... After a hard-reset myphone wont be linked to your live ID anymore
I've tried the myphone premium services, and i can confirm that they work. If your phone cant be located, its just bad luck.
good luck to you my friend!

that's why i'm reluctant to block it and report it, once i clock it, i can't keep trying to locate it. if i keep trying to locate it and I fail, i'll lock it via microsoft my phone and put the message for them to contact me, leave it a couple of days, if nothing, block it through o2 with the imei. When i click get started its saying that i can try more than 2 times within a week, so ill have to wait until thursday to try it again i think.
EDIT: Can i still locate it i lock it through myphone not blocking the imei?

Apparently you can.
'For 7 days, My Phone will try to lock your phone. You can check the status of your lock request by returning to this page at any time.'
Have a look there, 3rd one down it gives you the usual Microsoft vague answers.

hm, so it will try to lock the phone for 7 days, but doesn't tell us if once locked, we can still track it?
thanks for your reply you've been a great help!

Microsoft are just as usual usless absolultely usless at giving you any information on any product or service they offer on their own website, and it doesn't actually say anywhere if you can still locate it. But it would be completely pointless if you locked it and it wouldn't let you actually locate the handset, so I would guess you could.
IIRC you can get it to display a custom message when it's locked from myphone. "Hi, thanks for finding my phone. Please call me on xxx-xxx-xxxx to claim your reward!"
that is correct yeah but then once locked, can i still locate it or am i souley relying on the finder to return it?

Even if it does locate it, it's gonna be in a 50m radius, at best. Probably more in the region of a 200m radius, which is nearly the same as not knowing where it is.
If you can get it to lock and display a message, leave it for a little while and then get it blocked via the imei.
I have a replacement sim card being used in a temporary phone at the moment, I just tried to lock the phone, why am I getting a coded text to this number, surely it should be trying to lock my imei not my number?

It has still got to send the phone a locking command, which is what you are getting.
As you are using a replacement SIM with the same number, you are in fact, preventing yourself from using any of the MyPhone functions, as there is no way to connect to the lost phone.

Is It Broke?

Hi All,
Got my HD2 yestreday (unlocked, supposedly, from Ebay).
I cant make or take calls, nor can i send txt's etc. There is an exclamation mark next to the reception indicator(if thats what its called)?
Is it broke? - is it locked? - Is it a stolen phone whicha has somehow been "blocked"?.
Please help guys!
Without knowing if it's definitely been unlocked it may just still be locked to it's original network in which case you'd need to buy an unlock code.
If that's the case then no need to worry - however if it's been blacklisted (reported as stolen / lost etc) then it's going to be pretty much useless, but i don't think there's a way of finding out if it's been blacklisted.
Have you tried removing and re-inserting the sim card etc?
Does it have any branding in the software to indicate which network it belonged to originally such as a branded boot screen?
Then of course it may even just be faulty....
Hiya, thanks for that. The box has an Orange sticker on - but there is no software branding.
OK - i dont suppose you have an orange sim to hand or know anyone you could borrow one from to try in the phone - it would at least prove that it's just a network lock and nothing more serious.
The one thing i note from google though is that you get a "your handset is locked" screen when an unuseable sim is in the handset? and you switch it on? And i dont get that?
I have bought an unlock code - but dont know how to get to a screen that will allow me to enter it?
I'm not too sure what is displayed on the screen in the event of an incorrect sim as mine was factory unlocked when i bought it.
It may have been better to wait and prove the phone is just simlocked before buying an unlock code because if the phone is blacklisted or faulty then that code's useless.
I completely agree, but you know what men/gadgets are like - you want it working NOW!
Haha yeah too true mate
I'm not too sure what else to suggest, you really need to find out if its just a simlock or worse..
Good luck getting it working though
Oh just a further thing to try - a hard reset
Start >> Settings >> Security >> Factory Reset
Enter 1234 into the box and then press 'yes'
Still the same :-(
But i now have a G icon!
When i boot up i get a "which network do you want to choose" message - to which i select Vodafone, but we still have the exclamation mark - and no calls/txts etc......
Have you tried HSPL'ing ur device and flashing diffrent radio?
Hiya, sorry, how do i do that?
Hi, ive found that thread - but when i try it says on my pc - cannot initialize as Rapi.dll not found?
Ok - now done - still same problem?
It was network blocked (barred), due to non-payment of bill.
Long story short, ive ordered a Desire now.
Ah Sorry to hear that mate. Hope your getting a refund sorted out ok with the dodgy ebayer..
Have fun with the Desire!
Should be ok for the refund - after all its a shop (cash converters type place), and i have threatened them with the police.
Before i sent it back i got going with a great rom though (albeit unable to call and txt!), the WM Pro user 2.02 - looked fab!

HD2 Stolen, Got it back IMEI changed etc please help

Im not quite sure what to do, my HD2 got stolen 3 weeks ago lucky for me I had IMEI written so i reported it to cops. Two days later I got my phone back. Cops said I was lucky the guy didnt had time to sell it. When i got it back my phone it was completly reinstalled with WM6.5 (before I had WM7.5) I noticed that volume up stopped working so i started investigating deeper and to my suprise phone IMEI has been changed! When I went into boot mode (multi color) insted of cotula hspl it said something about freebox.
Here is my questions
1. Is there a way to repair phone so my volume up works? Or at least map any other key as volume up in wm7?
2. How can I get back my phone to show original IMEI?

Are you sure it is the same phone you had stolen?
I'm sure 100% it's the same phong, IMEI written on the back of the phone corresponds to the one I have on original box, but when I check IMEI from OS it's different
well if the SPL been changed then my first thought would be to put it back
So,
head on over to HTC and grab yourself an original stock ROM, flash away using the SD card method, with a bit of luck that will wipe all the crap off it, then HSPL > Radio >MAGLDR >WP7
happy to point you in the right direction for all of those or confirm your findings but its good to give it a shot yourself, a quick search will give you all you need
search for strings like
HD2 LEO SD card flash
i gather you already know how to install WP7
THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. Unless you or someone else switch the sticker on the back of the device, or swapped the housing/chassis, it is nearly impossible to change the IMEI on a device.
If this was possible, I would of have done it so long ago to trick my device to think it was some other device.
Unfortunately, IMEI hacks are illegal. That is why developers don't go that route. It's not as simple as pirating apps (which is also illegal).
Why do I get the feeling that this is some fancy way of asking how to change your IMEI (i.e., insert sap story and request on "help" on how to change your IMEI)?
Why would you want to change your IMEI? You have your device back and different IMEI doesn't change anything. All the apps will work as they worked before etc, so I don't think you should worry about that.

Hahahaha my thoughts exactly. He want somebody to help him change it. Never heard of anyone changing imei. It's like DNA of the phone.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
well, I for one, would love to change the IMEI on a device so that it can bypass stupid carrier restriction (ie: use t-mobile $5unlimited internet on a mytouch4G for the 4G)
currently, it's not possible since t-mobile has blocked this device from loop-holes like that.
JUST SAYING though.......
Sorry, we don't allow discussion of IMEI changing on xda, as it *can* be used for unlawful reasons.

GT-I9300 Not Registered on Network Problem Solved

Dear All,
I write to inform you that i finally solved my GT-I9300 'Not Registered on Network' problem. I decided to make this official announcement so as to assure others, most especially those who have tried almost all the tricks and steps found on this and other forum on the subject that all hope is not lost.
May be if i shed more lights on the problem which i encountered, and i suppose many other people, you will understand me very well. First, i did the upgrade through Samsung Kies and after the phone rebooted, it lost link to network. I called Samsung and chatted online with the Customer Service, i was asked to send the phone to South Africa where i bought it. I called South Africa and also chatted but they could not understand let alone solve the problem. I headed to XDA and other forum to find solution, I tried all versions of ARIZA Patch, none work. I tried all modified ROM, yet no solution. At one point, the problem became complex. The phone moved from not registering on network to 'Factory Mode'. I followed many other steps, but could not get past restoring it back to User mode. I gave up after a month and bought another phone.
My son shocked me last Friday when he said that it will be his first time of seeing me accepting that some problems cannot be solved. I mused over it and told myself that i will rather destroyed the phone totally than giving him the impression that i cannot solve the problem.
I got out my two computers - Mac and PC and reformatted them all. Installed ODIN and downloaded a 4.3 Stock ROM. I then began searching everywhere for any clue as to what went wrong with the phone. My research is simple; the PHONE could not register simply because the IMEI and Serial Number were wrong. My IMEI and S/N moved from 0000 to unknown. After reinstalling through KIES, it came back from unknown to another wrong numbers.
I finally decided to go inside the phone by activating everything on ODIN and see if i can get the wrong EFS on the phone wiped away and left empty. I repartitioned, wipe EFS, etc. and the only thing the phone did was to move from unknown to another incorrect IMEI and Serial.
Finally, i read on a post that the problem is simply software, so i began searching if it is possible to repartitioned the phone completely and turn it into a toy. I recalled that about ten years ago, i successfully installed Nokia OS on Blackberry through a poorly concerted code designed by a friend. In so far i still have the code, I thought that i could do same with my GT-I9300. It won't work, sadly. But in the process of doing so, i realized that using SRS, i can do so comfortably. With this 20 USD software, i gained control of the internal organs of my phone and started out by wiping out the EFS first and with my EFS Backup, i re-wrote it back on the phone. That done, i expected the phone to work, but sadly it refused to register on network.
Not ready to give up, i went further to see what other options are available to me. I realized that i can actually re-wrote my IMEI and Serial number back to the phone. I tried it and after about an hour and almost three attempt, T-MOBILE surfaced on my phone and the GT-I9300 came back to life.
Altogether, i spent two unbroken days reading and reading and applying one step after another, one procedure after another till i finally got the phone back.
SRS can not only do this, but can take back your contract and locked phone from those shylock and give you your phone. It go inside your phone and show you all the codes that locked you to a particular network, etc. It can remove those useless codes that make your phone patented to a particular country and give you an international version. It can also turn your international version to a local one, if you so desire.
I do not know who designed this software, i however testify to its immense ability to safe you from Samsung's irresponsibility.
I am open to helping others and answering questions on GT-I9300.
I have since been enjoying my phone.
what's the short version of the story?

Going by the last lines, it seems this is the tl;dr version
"SRS can not only do this, but can take back your contract and locked phone from those shylock and give you your phone. Hi! As i understood i need to get SRS and after?
where is the SRS software ? can you post a link ?

No signal for a while now..

Hi guys. I've been having this odd issue for the past three days, and now I have to carry a second phone for calls, which defeats the purpose of the phone in the first place.
Out of the blue, my phone can't connect to the mobile network. It just shows no bars and a "refreshing" icon, continuously spinning. I have tried restarting the phone, turning the airplane mode on and off, removing the SIM,tried another SIM, soft reset, hard reset, created a new APN with the details directly from the carrier, manually searched for the network, automatically searched for it, you name it. Everything without success.
Has anyone experienced that? It's extremely frustrating. Let me know if younhave any other ideas. Cheers!

Well the last method I'd do if I were you, is to try flashing different original ROM (.kdz) using LGUP software or any known method.
If the phone is within the time frame for the warranty you can contact LG and see if they can verify the purchase and see if they'll honor the warranty.
Are you sure nobody blacklisted your device? If this happened all of a sudden, check your phone's IMEI on any blacklist checkers online.

Problem solved!
It seems that the problem is indeed, the fact that my phone was blacklisted. I thought I got a good deal on this phone if I bought it second-hand. Apart from contacting the seller, is there anything else that I can do? I don't know where he bought the phone from, and it is unlocked as well. Any recommendations?

On what network did you use this phone? I would recommend you contact both your network and go on http://imeipro.info/ and contact them and ask them what steps can you take to remove your phone's IMEI from the blacklist db.
