Hi guys I've always rooted my tablets but this time because of the Netflix theme I do not want to do
How is the experience with Emui without root, is good ?
I do not need root. I have a rooted Nexus 6, with 7.1.2 ROM. There is no need to root tablet. It is fast, Android 7, what else do you need?

Basically by Emui...
When I compare with my LG G Pad 8.3 under LineageOS, here's what I really miss from root/custom ROM:
Viper4Android
Persistant DPI change
180° screen rotation
System-wide ad-blocking
Per-app settings (language, orientation, etc.)
Remove lockscreen
volume keys always controlling media volume
double tap to wake up screen
Other than those minor annoyances, it's pretty livable without root.
I use Nova Launcher so I don't interact much with EMUI. My old LG Gpad is rooted and runs Slimrom. I miss having root for apps such as Titanium Backup and not being able to uninstall system apps. The Mediapad doesn't have a lot of bloatware so it has not been a big issue.
Mediapad M3 is the first tablet that I have with Stock Nougat. No root, no unlocked bootloader, no TWRP.
It just works fine, no issues at all.
I will consider rooting it, when I will need Titanium Backup.
I had a G Pad 8.3, retired in the family now. I miss mostly double tap to wake, because I am using Nova Launcher and I have double tap to sleep. I used Viper4Android once on my G Pad, but Mediapad M3 with Nougat sounds fantastic, I would say just as well as Viper4Android. Other than double tap to wake, all the other features were not present in official LG Rom, some are only available with root (like 180 degrees orientation and system-wide ad-blocking). I did not use many of them, as my G Pad has LineageOS on it. EMUI has the option to display download/upload speed that I did not see on any OEM launcher until now.
There is no need for TitaniumBackup since we have the stock Backup app.

Is it the same as when I make it from the twrp?
Backup done with Huawei Backup is obviously not the same as from other app or TWRP. I do not quite understand what you mean.

Yes, Huawei Backup makes a copy pg all user apps and also contacts, default launcher layout and probably more. I am satisfied I do not have to look for an alternative backup app that may require root.

I wanted to start a thread for must have apps for the rooted Note 4. Please feel free to contribute some information and advice on great apps that root users would love. If you have any questions about these apps below, feel free to ask.
My Must Haves consist of:
/System/app mover - Used to convert user apps to system apps
AdAway - Remove those pesky ads from apps and the interwebs
ROM Tolobox - I have the Pro version. Great multi-function tool (Ron installer, App Manager, Root Browser, Apps2SD and more)
SD Maid - I have the Pro version. Has App controls, Corpsefinder, System Cleaner, App Cleaner, Duplicate finder and more
Titanium Backup - Great for backups and restores. I use this a lot when I flash new roms
System App Remover - remove that bloatware that you just don't want
Wanam XPosed - Do I need to explain how awesome this is? This is the best app for root users
XPosed - Framework that will enable you to customize your phone, whether it be minor tweaks or all out customization
Root explorer and viper4android are always the first two apps I install
Ahh yes viper is included in dynamic Rom. So didn't think about it.
Ttorrent... Very important... Lol... (it does not require root, but you need root in order to have it saving file directly to your SD Card...)
when installing Viper4android, which one do we download? The 4.x one?
And also, which CPU do we select from within the app?
Here's what my Ron comes with
I don't use ttorrent. I have an ftp server in my rack.
Mine are
root explorer or es, like both
my backup pro
Titanium backup
clean master
start up manager
Here is my set up
Rom toolbox (great app for editing)
Wake lock detectors
Faux clock
DVFS disabler
Unicorn icon themer (have custom icon pack on TW)
Titanium backup

Maybe that's why my HTC one had terrible battery. The rom came cooked with Viper.
I'm not a big music guy and I think its fine just the way it is. I'll leave it be for now
I've never experienced increased battery drain while using Viper. When setting it up, there are 3 options to choose from. The highest audio quality setting does mention that it may cause battery drain. I always choose the middle option.

I try it out for the bass. It was just alright. It make a little difference on my car stereo. I just crank up the bass in my car.
Viper need some coding if you want to do it for your ROM unless its bake in.
I am not going to miss it, so I will not use Viper.
I will choose a rom with the next features (if p8 Lite is capable, of course)
1.Miracast enabled
2.No Bluetooth problems with Audi hands free devices
3.Otg enabled
4.X-posed pre-installed
And for you?
What do you think a rom must "have"?
Sent from my Ale 21 using xda premium
All the 3 first points would be great but I think those should be enabled at the kernel level. If the kernel can't handle OTG and screen mirroring, the ROM will not make it possible (not sure on the screen mirroring but absolutely sure on the OTG).
X-Posed would be a nice addition but i can live without it.
What I really would like is to have "close to stock Android" without the EMUI junk. EMUI additions on settings are not bad but stock Android can handle notifications and quick setting in a much better way.
My previous device was a Motorola Moto G LTE (1st Gen.) and it gives you a better experience due to the aforementioned close to stock Android implementation.

a simple Stock Android and solve the "gyroscope" problem ... (i could watch any 360 videos but after i updated my phone B130 to B133 now i can't watch any 360 videos or use the VR headset :/)
B370 which should fix "push-problems with no notifications" is rolling out now in Germany.
Its available via HiCare-App, Update-App or this link:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/thema/o...er-das-honor-7-os6-0-emui4-0-b370-ota.779485/
And it really solves the problems??? lol I've downgraded to b180 and I'll wait a little to update again... anyway, thanks for the info! at least something is moving
Does it fingerprint work normally (unlock was slow on B330)?
Does it respond normally (touch response was a bit slow)?
Is border around icons fixed on every theme?
What has been added (except on info), what has been removed and what has been really improved?
all tryes to update my phone working under modaco or yoda rom failed! A try using a rooted ori. backup after unrooting has also failed!
Now i am trying an unrooted ori image of b330. This seems to work. It is a very long process to finish! Now more than 35 min. Hope this will finish successful!
I've read a post saying that whatsapp notification still not working

You cannot update from any custom rom. You need a clean unrooted base rom. So, clean B330 is good choice.
We are waiting for your feedbacks here. I hope you give us good news about all known issues.
Ok, the device is verry hot during a backup! I think, they had boosted up the CPU frequence! Maybee the Governors have changed.

No I did not. I will make a try.
So, any news? How is it behaving for now?
Battery seems better but have to test it further.
Possible to achieve more free RAM and sometimes it goes until 1.9GB and got 2GB twice .
EMUI 4.0 but lacks guest mode. Apps can be locked by password or fingerprint, though. Seems a better option than hiding apps and widgets.
No fast charge option but charges quickly. Need to measure it.
Whatsapp doesn´t activate LED, but it´s possible to setup screen wakeup.

Rounded borders, yes. But do you know other available themes? There's plenty, even 3D.

Hi, i want show the perfect setup for me for my old S6.
First of all, i want to begin with the rom. I am using the Resurrection Remix Oreo Ver 6.1.0. Rooted with Magisk v 16.
I have made a lot of changes in settings like to use the fingerprint immediately after a reboot or i have transfer the clock to the left and many more.
But the most important for me are the Magisk Modules. I am using Youtube Vanced, RR Low InCall Volume Fix, RAM management fixes bt crok, Pixel Experience, Google Face Unlock, Debloater (Terminal Emulator) and Android P DP3 Emojis.
Also, i am using Xposed Modules: Android P-ify, Flat Style Keyboard, ForceDarkModeOreo, I Said OFF!, MinMinGuard, NoOverlayWarning, P Animations and Screenshot Delay Remover - Mod.
I have removed the Messages stock and i have installed Google's Messages, also i have removed the stock Camera and i have download a miniuser123 GCam, removed the Files App and installed Google's Files Go, same with the music app i have installed Music Play. I have also flashed Product Sans font and installed Google's Pixel 2 XL live wallpapers. For icons i am using O8.
I have replaced the volume slider with the Android's P Volume Slider.
Please suggest me other "tweaks" that i can use to make my phone look like a beast.
Thanks for reading my thread.

I could not get it to work and looks like in all MIUI roms it's crippled. There is a Bluetooth unlock in lockscreen menu but it's only available with whitelisted Xiaomi gear it seams. Kinda confirmed on other MIUI forums basically they replaced it with their version and only for their devices. The prompt shows only the first time you pair a new device and you can add it but it does nothing and no way to get back in. I tried to trigger all activities from google service framework but could not get back in, only with new BT device will and i ran out of devices to try. No location trigger works

Unfortunately, true. I was surprised when
@Tizio.Qualunque claimed a 'solution'?!
I've seen many threads for Mi 9T and other Xiaomi phones but never seen anybody claiming that he/she set it up to to really unlock without a pin (or how to do it).
Btw, before I installed this Smart Lock app as he suggested, I got pop-ups by Google Smart lock several time, asking me if I want to set up my (home) location for smart (un)locking (now, during Corona I'm almost all the time at home and unlock the phone by pin tens of time during the day, because unfortunately FOD is very unreliable). So I always confirmed that I want, but still it never worked for unlocking
I can only hope that Xiaomi maybe fix it for MIUI 12, but frankly I don't believe.

Yes. A huge minus.
Use face unlock. Use Mi band or some kind of Mi watch (bluetooth unlock is limited to only one device... ). It's stuipid - I know. But this is only think you may do if you want your phone to be unloceked when you are near.
Eventually you may try Tasker.
I've been dealing with this since miui 6.
As others have said, MIUI has removed all access to smart lock. The only reason you get the notification is because it's served by Google Play services. They can't touch it.
Even if you access the menu by root, it still won't work because MIUI uses its own lock screen, not the stock lockscreen.
They keep kneecapping the Android features, and later introduce them as "new". The only people who actually like MIUI are people who've never used stock Android
More examples from my experience in MIUI 6 :
1. They didn't have face unlock or bluetooth unlock. But Android had it since the previous 2 versions. They added it in the next MIUI as a flagship feature. And it's still bad. It unlocked for my brother's face.
2. Split screen. One generation late.
3. Picture in picture mode. Dunno if it's available even now

I bye Xiaomi phone for good hardware and great price.

Not fixed in MIUI 12 / Android 10.
Makes it impossible to do hands-free calling in the car., since you can't make calls anymore with the screen locked.
Only ways I can see around it is:
1. Keep your phone unlocked,
2. Have face unlock set and place your phone where it can "see you" at all times.
3. Get a cheap Mi band or some other MI product, add it as a trusted device, and keep it charged in your car.
This is utter nonsense from Xiaomi.
With MIUI 12, Android 10 and by using Root Smart Lock app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.rachel030219.smartlocklauncher
I can setup my trusted place and it remembers, but still it doesn't keep the phone unlocked at my home (I must use the fingerprint or pin)
I was thinking if some permissions are missing
I tried it on MI11 with MIUI 12.5 and with the app mentioned, but still not working :-(
