Hi all,
It is for quite some time now that i am looking for a hebrew localization pack for my Universal and apparently there is no cheep solution for that. (well there is a 130$ one but it is too expensive for me...) .
I've searched the net for a cheep solution but it seems that all software companies that develop these kind of localization do not know all about Hebrew and thus i get a software that write in mirror like way and some more little things (like no hebrew Email/sms support, no hebrew on PIE etc...).
all i want is to be able to send/recieve emails/sms and have the hebrew keboard layout (in addition to the english one) so that i can write documents or sms/emails (PIE is less important to me ) - in the right hebrew direction (right to left).
I am looking for someone able to give me some guidelines on how to start this project of hebrew localization - if i will finnish this, i will share it freely. i look for no profit.
thank you all who can help me.
Hi Yol!
As I understand it Hebrew is a 'right to left' language, a functionality which Windows Mobile does not support. (unlike it's big brother where it is built in).
Now it's a noble idea you have to create a free version, but I suspect there is a reason software companies charge as much as they do without going out of business.
Basically, any localization has 3 parts:
1) keyboard - that's relatively easy. It's just a DLL that implements a COM object. There is an article on this at www.pocketpcdn.com with code sample. Look under 'SIP' (Software Input Panel).
2) The interface or MUI's - these are DLL's that contain the interface resources in your language. You can create those from a ROM dump using Visual Studio or any other resource editor. Search for Asukal's posts on this forum, he is an expert at this.
3) This is the tricky part - for a language that works right to left you need to reverse the system input and output of text somehow. This is something beyond my level of programming sorry.
Well hope that starts you off. By the way do you have much experience in programing? This sounds like a really ambitious undertaking. 8)
Good luck!

Dear developer people,
I would be happy to translate strings of any software into Hebrew so as to make the software friendlier for Israeli people
I have a Universal with WM6 ROMS (which I change when something nice comes out).
Contact me, I'm happy to assist!

I think there would be a problem with text direction for many programs (many programs are made only considering left-to-right text)... it probably would not be a problem for something where there is fixed text but anything with input to display would have trouble without right-to-left support...
Hey WandrerX,
Firstly, there is RTL support via 3 solutions for the OS which can be purchased.
Addiotionally - just by installing a hebrew font it is possible to show hebrew on the screen (I use cour.ttf in my windows directory).
I am offering to translate and debug all the strings so applications can have a hebrew interface, thus making them more popular in Israel.
No-body interested?

There are a few morse keyboards out there but nothing I can find for Windows mobile.
I’m hoping that someone special can provide some input into developing a dit dah SIP for WM. I’m also hoping that there are enough people out there who would be willing to donate to this project / developer. I certainly would.
There are some existing apps for other platforms:
iditdahtext for the iphone
http://iditdahtext.com/iDitDahText.html
I believe this uses multitouch technology; not something that would be available/required on WM. I believe the developer has no plans to port this to WM
I have also found a reference to an Android app

The closest thing I’ve found for WM is MorseSMSer. This is not a SIP but simply an SMS client.
http://rapidshare.com/files/116167287/MorseSMSer.zip
I believe the development of this app has ceased.
Also just found for WM

Please don’t reply with question like “why would you want that?” People want things for different reasons – be cool and accept it
Thanks

Reserved for me!
I had a app that converted any text to morse i will look to see if I still have that app later but your idear sounds great
Dude that keyboard looks awesome. I hope you will find the devs.
anywhere else
Anybody know anywhere else I can make this request?
well... do you want a real SIP or just an application can be ok for you ?
by the way, what do you intend to do with your text, just sending SMS, MMS,... ?
morse kb vs sms
Hi Corwin9s
I was really looking for a real SIP so that it can be used in all applications (SMS, Word etc) but I guess I would mainly use it for SMS
MorseSMSer does work but it crashes if the focus isn't in the right place (e.g. after deleting a letter). I contacted the developer who advised that development had ceased. I offered to buy the source but I didn't hear from him again.
I've had a play with the android Morse keyboard on an emulator and I think it's brilliant. Although it does imply that “word suggestion” is available but I can't get it to work. I would really like word suggestion. This may seem silly when using Morse input but however I input the text my spelling is still awful. (This is typed out in word!)
I guess that I would at least want an SMS client that didn't crash.

Can anyone help with suggestions of where to turn to for a SIP or SMS client
£ $ € on offer for a solution.
Thanks.
WM Morse keyboard - font
While looking for a font for my favorite today clock (PocketDigitalClock),
I found "Radios in Motion" font. It comes in an easy type that contains the letter it represents.
http://www.1001fonts.com/font_details.html?font_id=1184
I have used it in Word Mobile , but be carefull where you place this file.
I keep it on the sd card\My Documents. If you place it in the device folders, you may end up with this font in things like comm manager..
I had to hard reset to correct that.
So backup before you copy this font to ppc.
Hope this helps.

Hey cac2us, not quite what I was looking for but thank you very much for taking the time.

Hello programmers
I would like to do learning app for kids
the app will include :
1- registration -> to show the score that he got from quizzes and also display hes friends score (like a competition between friends)
1.1 - registration can using facebook , twitter so he can invite his friends to the game and play with them.
2- voice -> to say the name of the items (numbers, alphabets, animals, foods ... etc)
3- some animations -> for the quizzes answers (correct or incorrect) and going to next quiz. Also for menu
4- moving items by user -> to move the items (answer) to the correct picture
what languages should I learn to do this app?
I know Java , also I have create some basic apps for android from android tutorials like note , Calc and many basics app
but the design is regular android design
so for my app it needs other design for kids and it need be more colorful (including with any event user make)
I'm good designer using photoshop but I don't know how to get the sizes for the android layout and items sizes
also for registration : do I need to make database using sqllite ?or I have to create database online "mysql" for example ? or if i do registration via facebook only so I'll get the database from facebook ? (I haven't try to do facebook apps before)
as I said before the registration is only to display the score between user and his friends
for moving items (answers) to the correct pictures . is it the same way when I do it using JFrame in java ? so I just need to do an object then control it wit MouseMotionListener then mouseDragged and mouseMoved . what are the names for the events, interface listener and functions in android
about the "Voice": is there a website that I can download the sound for most of Items (numbers, alphabets, animals, foods) for free ? or should I create it by myself ?
also is it better to create many sound files? Or using Text-To-Speech (TTS) ?
I know how to play a sound file in my program
but if you suggesting using TTS can you please give me a link to learn how to use it
my question again .. what exactly should I learn to do this app with the details the I gave above ?
what I mean is don't please tell me you should learn for example Java tell me what I have to learn in java for android
such as what are the names for the events, interface listener and functions in android for MouseMotionListener - mouseDragged and mouseMoved
thanks
For graphics check Google's design guidelines. You can set any image as the background of a view. So being good at Photoshop is great.
I think that you will need to use Sqlite databases. You cannot handle other ones in Android (Ok. Maybe with some libs)
However, sometimes it can be done with files, too. That would mean maybe encrypted text files.
Use Android DPI Calculator to get the translation from pixels to dip for all screen resolution. You just input a width and/or height in pixels and it gives you the translation and even tells you if you'll get half pixels
For the APIs codebase, I guess the documentation is the the best place to look if you already know java : http://developer.android.com/guide/components/index.html
Here is a good tutorial on how to achieve "drag n' drop" : http://www.vogella.com/articles/AndroidDragAndDrop/article.html
Hello
I have been an ios user for quite some time now and since english is not my first language the define feature really helps me when i read novels(or web articles) and i would really like to have that feature in my samsung tab s2.
Any ideas on how to go about it would be really helpful. Do i have to create a rom with the define feature in it or an application(with superuser support).
Thanks in advance.
As for what i know, i know core java and have created a basic call blocker(auto reject calls) aplication using android studio. If these things wont cut it i am willing to learn the language or w/e is needed to develop the ios define app
Well the Google translate app already has the feature you are asking for: you select a word from a text field and in the pop-up you select "share". Then share it to Google translate and it is automatically translated to your language
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
But you need to select the word then click share and then gotta search for Google translate outta the already available billion apps in the share dialog box
