Note 4 charging problem - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello friends. At the moment I have the last May update installed on my phone and I am using the SpaceLemon kernel as a kernel. My problem is; When the charge of the phone is 100%, and then when I remove it from the charger, it drops to 98%. It's not like this before, does it originate from the last update?

Could be a bad battery also.

[Q] Really high battery drain for 2-3 hours right after charging, then settles

Hey all,
I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue (I searched the forums and didn't see anything). I noticed that the past 3 times I've charged my phone to 100%, the battery drain immediately after unplugging is around 3%/hour even if I don't use the phone. Then after the battery reaches anywhere in the 92 - 94% range, it settles down to about 0.8%/hour without me rebooting or taking any action. I know these numbers only because I have Better Battery Stats installed however I can't really tell what is chewing the battery since I haven't rooted yet.
Is this normal? I'm coming from a Note II that I rooted and installed a custom ROM and did not experience this.
That being said, I am super impressed with the battery on this thing. I am getting almost the same drain as my Note II which had a custom ROM installed.
Thanks ahead for any help/advice you can give me!
Hi i am also facing same issue. After fully charge the first 5 to 6 % battery draining very fastly approximately around 15 mins of usage then after that the battery settles and the draining will be normal.Does any one else is facing the same issue what may be the problem and resolution for this?

I noticed that as well..
I am considering rooting... not sure but I may get an answer through BBS with root features.
Also next time I charge, I'm going to try rebooting the phone immediately after unplugging from the power source.
I think that is just how the way battery percentage is calculated. I read somewhere that from the first 10 or 15 percent are somewhat inaccurate.
Sorry, I'll try and find a source for this later. Currently at school.
Are you guys charging from the wall charger or from the computer usb? And also, I remember non oem chargers tend to do this on my S4 and htc one.... haven't tested on my s5 yet though
Hi I am using the standard charge that comes along with the phone by the way what is the meaning of non oem charger

Sorry that's info I should have specified in OP... I'm using the charger that came with the phone and it is happening both through the wall and from the computer USB.

Has Anyone Resolved the Lollipop Slow Charge Battery Drain?

Apparently I am in the minority, but my VZW LG G2 (Stock) was affected the the slow charging battery drain issue after upgrading to Lollipop.
It's crazy just how slowly the phone would charge and drain. After the update my phone was constantly attached to a charger. It couldn't make it to mid-day even with little use. It would take hours to gain just 20-30% charge.
After months of complaining I finally "downgraded" to KitKat. The difference is amazing. I can easily make it through a full day with moderate use and I can almost fully charge the phone after about an hour. It's great.
Has anyone had this problem and figured out a cause or solution? I've always been stock, but has a custom lollipop ROM worked better? At the moment I think I'm going to wait until there's another update (hopefully) before upgrading.
I am having same problem as yours, the battery problems are on the rise with Lollipop update. Sometimes I wish I shouldnt have upgraded. But anyhow, I solved my problem by using a good charger, more details you can read on this page: http://www.techkhoji.com/slow-battery-charge-android-iphone-samsung/
Argh! After weeks of deferring the daily lollipop update request I was half asleep on morning and accidentally started the update. I couldn't stop it once it started.
My phone was just about dead when the update finished and I let it fully charge. To my surprise it charged surprisingly fast. After it was fully charged (and unplugged) the phone stayed at 100% for about 20 minutes of continuous use before it dropped to 99%. I was again surprised that the phone held a charge (no charging) all day with moderate use. In the evening it stayed at 0% for a while before it finally died. I suspect the phone was calibrating the battery during this initial use.
I thought perhaps the problem was solved, but a day later, the phone is back to charging painfully slow.
I actually measured the charging current, it's not just my imagination! I have a USB Meter and when the phone was on kikkat and for the first day on lollipop it would consistently charge between 1.5A and 1.8A. Now, it will only charge at 0.46A. I'm using the same chargers and charging cables.
What could have changed? Is there a way to reset whatever battery calibration may have occurred?

Strange battery issue please help.

My Note 4 is a Verizon version.
When the battery reaches 12% or thereabout the phone shuts off with a low battery warning.
When I hook up a charger it says the battery is at 37%
So what is the problem?
Bad battery?
I've got the same issue with a factory refurbished Note 4, would be interested to hear why this happens.
Well, this happened to me, too. I finally got a new battery and it didn't happen to me anymore.
Constantly charging, and not allowing the battery to fully discharge did this to me.
Going through two full charge / discharge cycles fixed this. So I'm thinking it was just a calibration issue.
I had the same problem. And I intentionally depleted the battery to less than 5% probably 95% of the time so I don't believe not allowing the battery to deplete enough could've been the issue, for me at least. I'm rooted so I tried different ROMs, calibration procedures and apps, charging and depleting the battery differently ie. draining to different levels, etc. Nothing worked and over time it just got worse and started shutting down at higher percentages. After reading many reports of this problem with the Note 4, I decided it must be a problem with the stock battery. I bought a 2 pack of Anker batteries, same capacity as stock battery, and I haven't had the problem once. It was back in October that I replaced the battery.

Many phone batteries are only rated for 600 charges. 1000 on a good one. Assume all have a limited life regardless of your charging/discharging method.

Charging

Hello man, I've got a problem with my s3 neo. I installed cm 12.1 some week ago and It worked well.
Yesterday I put my phone on charge by using the stock charger and in 9 hours it only charge 54% of the battery. The charge takes too much time. Before that issue the charge takes about 3 hours. How can I fix that?
Thank you very much
Faffu
Use different custom kernel. In few builds, there is problem with battery charging. There is chance your battery is with bad health.
What kernel do you advice?
Renix 2.5

Please Help moto x play huge battery issue

I used samsung fast charger for 4 months and battery life was all good , then i lost the charger so i had to charge the phone with a "not so fast charger" that took ages to charge my phone.
Never charged to 80% , and battery drain was serious.
That's when i got worried that the charger ive been using might have destroyed my battery.
So bought the "turbopower 15" charger for my MXP and at first it heated up my battery more then 60* (serious overheating issue)
After 2 or 3 charges i figured it only heats up after the percentage is 50% or higher or when i use it while charging.
And now it drain my battery like crazy!,
I just restarted my device into recovery right now and it was 45% but by the time i booted up to recovery it said 25%. How CRAZY DRAINAGE IS THAT??, Please devs help me.
Its like i dont need a stopwatch my battery drain a percent per second.
Im using purenexus 7.1.2 by @GtrCraft witb stock kernal

try going back to stock rom, if the problem persists that means the battery is bad

I was just using stock rom but the battery drain was still the same. I dunno if ive messed up the battery because of the "not orignal" chargers or whatever the reason is. I think the battery is now done for. I think Im just gonna sell this phone
Just buy a new battery from ebay, replace it urself. It's easy..

I use tronsmart 3.0 turbo charger (backward capability for quick charge 2.0 devices). Battery life is good. I charge it when it hits 15-30%.
