Hey all been out of the loop for a little bit and I have a question. With the phone being as locked down as it is I was thinking of getting the Verizon GS5 Dev-Edition. Can I use ROMs and/or Kernels that are in the main GS5 forum?
Thanks for the advice/help in advanced!

If it's the Dev Edition and once rooted, I would think so. I could be wrong.

Appreciate the quick reply! I'd imagine Kernals might be hit or miss but ROMs would be ok but I could be wrong on both accounts and I just wanted to make sure before I bought it.

Either way, the Dev edition is the way to go. There is a custom build in 'Original Android Dev' for the VZW S5 down a couple subforums that is confirmed stable.

Yea I saw the Kernel but there aren't any ROM's in the Verizon forum, the main GS5 forum is hoping though so I wanted to make sure I can actually do what I intend with the device given the money. Especially since I know the Dev-Edition will never get official updates from samsung.

I'm curious myself. I just purchased an M8 but if we can flash ROMs from T-Mobile/AT&T/Int'l/Etc onto the rooted/unlocked S5 DE I'd probably buy that instead.

From what I'm reading it should be ok as long as we use a Verizon kernel because the Intl version seems to also have the Snapdragon 801.
Waiting for someone with experience to confirm though.
Anybody?
Hi.
So I am looking for a Note 3, unlocked.
I just want two things out of it:
- unlocked
- able to run stock samsung rom / alternate roms (clean JB let's say)
so which model in the US will qualify?
I am currently looking at a N900V in a good price. Is this good?
THANKS!!!!

Thanks so much for that.
Regarding the N900V, it states that the bootloader is locked.
Will I be able to unlock it?
thx again!

No you will not unless you get the Developers edition from Verizon.
So this means I won't be able to change ROMs? thanks again!
is it possible to flash a custom kernel on the s5 even though it has a locked bootloader? i was looking online and saw that some people were able to do it with other phones but they said it varies on the phone itself and the kernel

No, it won't work on our Verizon/At&T model. It will work with t-mobile and sprint and Verizon Dev edition. Dev had banned the project so everyone is moving on to ktoonsez's kernel, which again worked on everything except for our Verizon 900V model. Bottom line, you can't flash a custom kernel onto a locked bootloader. We have many variation of model S5, make sure you are looking at Verizon (SM-900V) and AT&T (SM-G900A) which have locked bootloader.

Hey,
I got the LG G6 H870DS version, i didn't know it has a locked bootloader
Is there any way to override the issue and install a custom rom or am i doomed with the stock rom?
You're doomed I'm afraid. The chance LG will make you able to unlock it in the future is slim to none.
is the h870ds with locked bootloader rootable with kingroot?
I have the european model with unlocked bootloader, but I prefer the dual sim model, I offer straight swap to anyone interested

I've not tried it, don't blame me...

Complete BS.
That video is essentially an ad for his YouTube channel then descriptions for a generic unlocker. He even says in the video this tool is only good if your phone is rootable. Don't waste your time.

LOL no disrespect to bgumble though !! Thanks for posting this !

I can provide you an unlocked bootloader for G930A, so then u will be able to root and install custom rom. Root works perfect for me.

But, Lineage is not gonna work. Only root. Go to google and write "Galaxy S7 AT&T Root Oreo" and then try to find a page called androidsage, they are providing the working ENG BOOT for Galaxy S7 AT&T.
