[How To] Manually Update Camera Firmware [TW/4.4.x][G900*]

I am giving a $40 buck bounty who ever cracks this one *** This is a Tread to get all camera firmware update Help and information for our models G900****
* i get the bounty and i take any donation gladly
***** i am not responsible for what you understand***** so please read carefully
If you are not capable of following this simple steps and somehow magically EFF you camera just
Full Clean wipe Reflash thru odin or so they say and cross your fingers
SO... After i decided to sit and make some time to reverse engineer the camera test.apk
i managed to solve this one..
**PS: for all of you saying that ones you odin upgrade it will update the CAM.fw automaticly then go ahead and skip this thread as i tried personally flashing 4 times thru odin and nothing happened only the phone fw would update not the camera fw/ besides i don't want to delete anything and this is a better faster way
All you need:
*Any Galaxy S5 G900*[m/t/f/h/w8/any] series with kk4.4.x
[not tested on 5.0 you are welcome to try my solution with the well deserve credits to my self]
*Touchwiz only (you can always update your camera and go back to CM)
*no need to be rooted
* you need to make sure you unfreeze or have installed the CameraTest.apk (FactoryCamera_FB.apk)
if you are using any de bloated rom or you have ran any debloaters
** if you don't see the flashing options enabled..... with you CameraTest.apk then replace it with the one i will indicate below.
First and most important step:
* dial on your phone *#34971539#
( you will get the Camera Firmware Standard screen if you don't then read the steps above again.. see what you are missing)

2.Click on the first options see image above ... Phone/Cam FW ver...
3. take a screenshot of the results on the notification and write down your CAM fw information
*** F16QL, C16L and F16QS Are your camera sensor / Module this information is for you to know what FW you need..
*** last 6 digits are your fw release version
Now that you have that information you may proceed..
1. Get the latest CAM fw for your device with that information..
**.Download any Flashable ROM for your Device model (or if rooted get them from your phone)
2. go to \system\cameradata\
search and extract these 2 files: "yoursensor model"_Isp0.xxxxx.bin / "yoursensor model"_Isp1.xxxxx.bin
3. Save them some where else where you can edit them...
4. Rename "yoursensor model"_(Isp0).xxxxx.bin to CamFW_Main.bin
5. Rename "yoursensor model"_(Isp1).xxxxx.bin to CamFW_Companion.bin
6. Save them and put them on your Internal Memory root directory (not your exterternal sd card)
7. Download the ****.Key file that i will send you and place it in the same directory as the fw files.

After this you are all set up and ready..
dial on your phone *#34971539# again and you will see all options are no longer greyed out
2. click on Cam/Phone Fw ver and check that the NEW FW is being detected
(compare with your previews info)
EG. i Had CamFw F16QL"GB00SB" and phone version F16QL"HC04GB" * same as Rom release coding
3. just for safety click on both CAM DUMP options
4. Click on Phone to Cam FW write (main) ones done reboot..
5. Go back to the firmware screen and click on " Phone to Cam FW write (7cxl) or your model number
REBOOT... PROFIT!!!!!
Go to check cam/phone FW ver again and see both are the same now
****If you say Thanks you can take the link to get the ****.KEY file******
Upload your FW on this thread just add your Device Model and FW version

Camera Firmware improves the camera HW..
/ Stability/Image quality and speed and stuff

Factory_CameraFB.apk method and i am not risking it..
you can actually replace the APP and works but it is very different than the one for the G900* it does not include the Front section and stuff but they have done some improvements if you want to get some pointers here is the thread: Note3 Camera Update

Other methods only works for S3
With the galaxy S3 you dial *#34971539# and open the Camera Firmware flashing tool
As soon as you had the updated SlimISP.bin(firmware file) file in the root of your internal memory the software would detect it and enable the
Flash Phone to Cam FW option to update..
Firmware locations
on your phone you need root they are located in system/cameradata (TW442) and in some cases system/vendor/firmware
you have various files ending with .BIN and in the name they have Isp and your camera hw Model F16QL
Mi G900T has ( F16QL ) this is the HW type then i have version GB00SB in stalled on the Camera
but the Phone version is HC04GB
WAY TO UPDATED and i wants to be able to flash it

I'm pretty sure that with the complete lack of any evidence this does anything whatsoever. The OP hasnt replied and there aren't any examples of Any improvements.

You can make your own .key file because it is simply blank! However, the filename must be 1q2w3e4r.key and it should be placed with the camera firmware .bin files in \system\cameradata\ together.

Guys after flashing stock COJ3 my rear camera stopped working. I tried flashing COH4 and so many custom roms including CM roms. But camera does not work. Error message is '' Media server failed. Camera Needs restart''. . front camera works fine. Any fix for this problem???

No luck man. removed SD and sim card. I even formatted both internal and ext memories.

I installed the OTA update BOK1 on my Note 4 910G.. and my rear camera stopped working. It says " Media server failed. camera needs restart"
I tried all the solutions posted like removing battery, camera force close clear cache and data, clear system cache, factory reset, hard reset etc.... But no use.
The service center guy tried replacing the camera saying its a hardware problem, but same message after installing new camera device also..
Can onyone please help it out... I am unable to sleep.

Same problem here. I also thought it is a hardware issue. I have tried everything but no luck. i have no option but to take it to a service center. Its been only about a year since i bought this phone. It is really frustrating to not to be able to use a flagship phone for at least a year without problems.

Sanjay, finally they say its motherboard problem.. and say we need to replace the motherboard which is very expensive as I am out of warranty by 1 month
But i dont think so.. i tried rooting and flashing custom roms also but no luck.. what did the service center guys say to you...

I still have not given my phone for repair. I would rather buy a new phone than replacing motherboard. My warranty is also voided because of rooting. I really liked the Note 4 until now. But sadly I will have to buy something other than Samsung. I have had a Galaxy S3 which also had similar motherboard issue.

if you still have warranty. Just flash the latest rom using odin and they even cant find you have rooted the phone. then you can claim your warranty and you will get it repaired for free..

No luck bro. I tried flashing a kitkat firmware too. I just cant give this phone away for repair because i need this phone for my work. Most probably i would have to replace the motherboard like your phone. If that is the case i will use this phone without repairing until i buy a new phone. I will let you know if i come across any solution.

Camera server failed, but sometimes weird artifacts
Hello. Usually my note 4's camera app just closes with camera server failed for the main camera, but, for the real experts on xda - I challenge the best of the best! - ... have some rare footage, when the camera barely works.
Things tried so far:
- clear cache and data of camera app
- install another camera app from the play store
- wipe cache partition
- factory reset
- replace camera hardware module
Observations:
- sometimes luminous areas show overflow lines
- pixel columns swapped from right to left
- purple noise lines everywhere
- freezing image and camera server error; please restart camera app message
Please direct me to anywhere someone knowledgeable exists. I can post high res images if interested.

P8 Camera Focus Issue

Since new updates (B370, B380), I have an issue with the camera.
The focus is terrible, and you can't proper take normal photos.
This is an example that I took recently:

P8 camera blurring issue
i have same issue....

i definitely dont have this issue, are you sure you flashed rom right? or did you flash rom for your right model (GRA-09) ? maybe you could try this rom as the option: http://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p8/development/rom-huawei-p8-gratitude-tecalote-t3468118 im recently using it too, not a single problem, i can not offer any other solution and i doubt someone else can, if none of this will fix it, i would recommend you to flash back lollipop and write to huawei support even they are kind of useless, but its worth to give it a try

try different camera, if is same issue ...might be caused by firmware

Same issue after last update B397
As stated, I've got the same exact misbehaviour of the back camera: the first second or two the focus is perfect, then it doubles the image.
It happens also in professional mode with manual focus.
I'm on GRA-L09C432B397 no root or anything else, only OTA updates when available.
Is there a way to solve the problem ?
Is there a way to flash again the full firmware to try to solve the problem or to downgrade back to another firmware to make the camera work again ?
If flashing is an opportunity can you link me a resource explaining what I have to do exactly ?
I did before on other phones, so I can follow technical guides about flashing and/or rooting if needed.

I did this thread nearly a year ago and I still have the same issue.
I have exactly this issue as you describe it.
First 2 seconds the focus is right, but after that, you have a double image.
I was thinking that this problem was an internal one (like a damage for a fall). But if this issue is appearing for a lot new people, this is a firmware issue.
But, I tried downgrade without results. Maybe we need to do extra steps to have a perfect clean rom.
We need to try to contact Huawei or contact an expert in roms for Huawei P8 to check problems.

You can try downgrading to Android 5.0.1 to check if it's a firmware problem.

I tried several downgrade and upgrade again. I tried changing ROM version and also tried L09, UL00 and UL10. not solved yet.
Then went to a HUAWEI Service Center;
they told me it is a physical problem, because of fall and they should change camera lenz/motor.
but i can't understand why i have not NFC in my phone!

im always OTA , update with sony pc companion is better?
i had other bugs on other version , usally i tried to fix with XC didnt help ( i guess its like clean install)
you've got the lastest vesrion without these bugs?

nope, I still postpone update official ROM .160 due right now I'm using CarbonROM
I always doing update with flashtool, never OTA

and backup and restore, didnt restore well most of my stuff
so im afraid of that

Same bugs on clean install.

I have clean installed (full wipe in TWRP, clean install from flashtool and then a factory reset) at least 5 times and have the same mobile data issues. I turn on the phone and have no mobile data but I can fix it by going into airplane mode. I'm going back to 7.0 when I get home tonight.
So again, if you need a temporary solution to no mobile data, just flick airplane mode on and off.
Other than that I guess we're waiting for the next update ****ing sony. At least 7.0 seemed to work perfectly fine.

First time, I did OTA update, facing bugs and did clean install with flashtool(ticked everything in wipe section), and saw the same bugs.
For me, data network is fine. Although album app won't show anything, it can be easily fixed.
The most annoying thing is higher memory usage of system.
1.2gb of 2gb is used by system, leading to frequent app refreshing.
A couple of hours after fresh bootup, it gets high from 700mb to 1.2gb

Run Albums app and go to Settings > Find and fix problems
It is recommended to clear data of Media Storage, but in my case, I didn't have to do that.

If I want to install something, does not come much

don't do the OTA, I explained sort of in the guide I have, it's not clean for firmware
edit: by firmware I mean (bluetooth/wlan/nfc firmware updates)

You guys have had better luck than me, my phone is basically unusable. Battery went from 100% to 60% in an hour while it was in my pocket doing nothing but getting hot. Oh boy does it get hot doing nothing. I can't open any apps without waiting nearly a minute and that's for the apps that actually load. The phone app doesn't load instead chrome opens. Even the app drawer takes about 25 seconds to open if at all and when i press the home button i watch the icons appear one by one the a few seconds later the widgets appear. I'm in the process of DL 7.0 ftf as that worked fine. Going to fire up flashtool and reinstall this evening. I can't believe that Sony could actually roll out something this bad. What a sh*t show.

The guide. I don't see which section deals with this. I've already unlocked my phone and rooted with PoC.

Yes, I've been doing OTA since I got Z5C some months ago. Until 7.0.1 (or previous update) it was getting improved for me.
This latest update 7.1.1 messed up battery performance and it gets heated without any usage.
This is my today's usage. I made 4-5 calls of about 2 minutes. 15 mins data for browsing.
Also, memory usage is too high, if I return to home from Twitter or Chrome, the home screen and widgets load one by one slowly. CPU temp is >60c mostly.
Really disappointed that now I have to flash and restore. Which I've doubt will work smoothly.
What's you guys suggest? Wait for another update or use Sony's built in backup and restore option to flash previous firmware and restore from backup?
As shown in screenshot, the constant bettery use is without using any app, the phone was in my pocket all day.

How to Downgrade Samsung Galaxy Note FE (SM-N935F/DS) From Oreo 8.0 to Nougat 7.1.1

Hi All,
I am facing issue of signal loss in my brand new NOTE FE SM-N935F/DS and i am not sure if its due to update from Nougat 7.1.1 to Oreo 8.0.
because as soon as I opened the box after finishing with the initial settings I received update of Oreo 8 which I gladly did that. Unfortunately ever since I am facing this signal loss issue in all Technologies LTE/3G/2G
The Signal reception keeps fluctuating at times I have signal but after a while again same issue persists. It is really heart breaker as all the other features of the phone are working absolutely fine but main reason of phone is to receive calls which I am unable to do so.
Therefore I was thinking maybe if its a bug in new Oreo 8.0 so better try going back to Nougat 7.1.1
As I am new at this Please share the links from where to download genuine Samsung Note 7.1.1 firmware with step by step procedure as how to downgrade it to Nougat 7.1.1 or 7.0 which is bug free would be great of you.

You can downgrade using Odin. Find the Last Nougat Firmware from Samfirmware and load it up on Odin.
If you're new to flashing, modding, Watch a few YouTube Videos.

Did the issue fixed after you downgrade to nougat?.
I have same issue here on mobile network

You cant flash back to nougat, the BL version updated and samsung has blocked down grading it seems.
I cant even flash back to the July update from october , ive had LTE issues on the october update similar to the OP. But i can have fulls bars on LTE and get download speeds of 5 mbps and it should be well over 50 here and it was on the previous update

This is really suck. What's your workaround for this issue? And aslo in my case the phone often showing no bar specially during stand by mode. Has the same happened in your case?

No I have full bars just really slow speeds.
Got another update last weekend which made things work better, they dont typically push out updates back to back so they may have been trying to fix it

OP is still on binary 2 (according to screenshot). So downgrade to latest Nougat firmware is still possible. Only from binary 3 or 4 you cannot downgrade anymore.

Dumb question:
Where do I find which binary I am on? I'm on firmware BRK2 on a new used F/DS

@koreanschoolkid N935FXXS4BRK2 -> XXS4 -> binary 4.
I think it is also shown when you boot into recovery.

No doubt. I tried out the s10 and it was quite slick. I'm one of those weird luddites who saves apk out of fear of a bad ui change and thinks that 4.x was the pinnacle of android design.
Been fighting a losing battle against the future for years

@koreanschoolkid I found Marshmallow design much better. However, it's not only the design that changed. All what's going on in the background got much better. Yes, rooting now is no fun anymore, which is unfortunate. I really can only recommend to upgrade to Pie on NoteFE.

Oh gosh. I have a N935K on Android 7 now but the darn thing can't make phone calls. Hooks into T-Mobile LTE just fine and I can hear the other guy but the other guy can't hear me. No winning for me it seems

I truly wish to downgrade from P to O coz I do rely a lot on split screen features which have been dumbed down on the P. I never knew P sucked really hard due to this. Also, the camera UI is too much like iPhones, I hate to swipe between photo and video mode. I've seen my other family members making mistakes due to this on their phones.

If you upgrade to the version of Pie with S4 bootloader you can go back to Oreo. If you went to S5 bootloader you are stuck on Pie. Check last 6 characters of your build number if it starts with U5 or S5 then there's no way back to Oreo.
