Anyone coming from HTC 10? - LG G6 Questions and Answers

I have an HTC 10 for about a year, I still like it but I would like a bigger screen to fill my VR headset (Fiit VR), the U 11 is an option but I am afraid of the price and usb c to 3.5mm adapter not being good.
So anyone who had an HTC 10 and got a G6?
-Is it as fast or faster (opening apps,Ui...)?
-Do you miss the audio power of the HTC 10 (earphones jack) if you got an European G6?
-How's the camera compared to HTC 10 for RAW?

I used the HTC 10 for a year before picking up the G6. I'm very happy with it. Love the screen and camera. Performance is about the same as the 10.
I do miss the 10's headphone jack but I'm getting by fine without it.
I've never shot in RAW on either phone so I can't give you a comparison. All in all it was a worthy upgrade. Still have my 10 but after one month I've never had any desire to switch my SIM back.

So the volume and dynamic range for audio is far from being like HTC 10?

I just returned my new HTC 10 back, very disappointed with the feeling hands-on, to big and wide for that screen. I'm using right now my old HTC M8, but it needs a replacement asap.
My next option is LG G6.

It's just standard audio quality, nothing like the 10.

Raw on Lg g6 very nature by itsefl camera, dont have any affect added , so it only use to edit after. about htc 10, png picture not differen jpg picture but volume size,
so i have not thing to say (sr about my engrik)

It looks like the U11 adapter is indeed not better than the G6!
Good volume but the stereo cross-talk is as bad given GSM Arena review.
So the U 11 only hardware advantage over the G6 is the newer and faster snapdragon which I don't care as I don't play 3D games on my phone.
Software wise though the HTC flagships always had super Roms with talented devs

[Q] Video recorded by desire Z ?

Maybe this is not all too important, but I am very curious about the video quality this phone will record. One thing I have always sacrificed when buying htc (one of the first ones with qwerty, can't recall it's name, the tytn 2 and hero) is the picture and video quality. I am into htc and android for the android fun, not the multimedia, but this time I do not want to have a camera which shoots video and images poorer than a two year old Sony Ericsson or Nokia phone.
So, who is first one up to post, and how soon?
The Desire Z doesn't seem to be getting as much interest as the HD. I can find a video allegedly shot with the HD but nothing for the Z.
If this is anything to go by (and you have to assume that the HD would be the better quality of the two) I think we must resign ourselves to the fact that HTC are not at all hot in the camera / media department!
Shame ...

Wow! Why would you pay in excess of £450 for just a phone!? I know the Desire HD does more but if you use your iPod Touch 4g for all that it's essentially just a phone, right?

It is more to Qualcomm than to HTC, since the image quality depends largely on the image processing hardware of Qualcomm chip, and they are not so strong in that department (Samsung and iPhone are doing better there).

I am sure this is true to an extent but surely HTC could invest in better quality sensors and consider the likes of Carl Zeiss optics or similar? This would make a MASSIVE difference and would rely less heavily on post image processing algorithms to achieve passable picture quality.

Both the videos recorded from the HD and Z are only in 480p and that honestly does look poor.
I've seen some videos from the G2 in 720p that did look a lot sharper than this did.

true, but the g2 720p doesnt look no were near as good as to say galaxy s 720p also very blurry when moving the camera (from the videos ive seen from the g2)
does anyone know if this can be adjusted by software or is it just the hardware that is rubbish?
I actually just noticed the resolution my self. So stupid not to check the quality settings before starting to record.
i would love the desire z to have the quality audio/camera of galaxy s, im in two minds, buy this and put up with the rubbish audio quality/no so good camera or buy the galaxy s?
Have heard of people saying that the galaxy s isn't as good as htc, in terms of the senseui being really good... Also, do you want a hardware keyboard? Galaxy S doesn't have, and I know I wouldn't be able to live without the hardware keyboard...
Here is article on G2 camera:

BTW. If U looking for good camera quality go for iP4, Nokia or SE. HTC does ****ty plastic camera.
I did this one on BART in SF. I didn't move around or anything, just a quick video playing with the G2.

Do you think dhd has all the features or it missing something

Hi guys
No very soon we will get the DHD
But do you think. DHD has all the features or it missing any features
Thanks

From what everyone has been able to read and see so far the only thing that would be desirable (no pun intended) would be a HDMI port. For me at least anyway.
I think the lack of a built-in coffee machine is unforgivable. Other than that, it seems OK

It seems to have most of the features of current phones, but there are some things it could do better like the camera, screen, battery life etc. There's no such thing as the perfect device unfortunately.
Front camera, camera button, HDMI, pouch and headphones in the box, bigger battery.
It's not perfect of course, but I think it has everything I want satisfied better than any other phone on the market. And that's what matters, I'm sick of waiting for new phones to come out before upgrading from my featurephone
- HDMI
- 8 (or 16) gb Internal memory
- A (much) better camera... The photos taken by dhd that I've seen on internet are very very poor! They seem that they have been upscaled by software to 8 mpx... blown highlights and so on.... very disappointing
IMO I dont think its laking in anything ...
1.5GB is fine for apps when has anyone had more than 700Mb of apps ? (waits to be flamed )
The shots from the camera look poor but i dont think thats the scensor ... maybe test S/W or drivers as the pictures from the N1/wildfire/Desire's 5MP camera are better.
Only thing it could have is HDMI but with the media streaming im not too fussed :-D
All in all this phone is a beast H/W wise

+1 from me. I've got an HTC Desire just now and so far not seeing enough to persuade me to change to a Desire HD. Also not sure I can face the risk of going through the hassle of the Bluetooth not working with my car gain, which was the case with the Desire until we had the FroYo update.

HTC 8X vs Nokia Lumia 920

Hi.
I need help with this... So which is better? Exactly I mean Screen and Camera.
Thanks in advance
Lumia 920.
My $0.02:
920's camera has better low-light performance, plus OIS; daylight performance is similar (920 images still a bit soft)
8X has better front-facing camera (wide-angle lens, 2 MP)
Screens about equivalent- 920's is larger, but 8X has higher PPI due to smaller size; they have different aspect ratios (8X = 16:9, 920 = 15:9)
8X has a bit better audio quality (particularly when plugged into external headphones or speakers- dedicated amp)
920 is larger, much bulkier; 8X has better in-hand feel
Nokia apps: used to be big differentiator, but now 8X has the useful ones (Nokia Drive, Transit, Maps), free via app store
I'd generally suggest 8X unless low-light imaging and screen size outweigh the form factor in your calculation.
Depending on what u wanna do I had both of them exchange them multiable times because the 920 and 8x both had extremely bad issues with Spotify it just didn't work from crashes to freezing to battery drain of 30 or more per hour. It was just that bad. It must be on both hansets or in general HTC and the nokias that use beats or the sound equalizer. Because now where I have a Samsung Ativ S I can use Spotify with no issues no crashes no more bad battery life and nothing. Samsung told me after asking why the Ativ S has no sound equalizer that they had issues with the equalizer and music and or media apps not working or being sluggish. So they left it out. It does kinda sucks because sound wise the ativ S really doesn't sound so good like the Nokia or the HTC but I take that over battery issues and crashes and freezing with Spotify and other apps. My 4 different Lumia 920 had so bad battery life it was just that bad 7 8 hours tops ativ s 23 or more hours easily. So something really was wrong with them and some apps that didn't shut down or so and the 8x kinda did the same thing. Is weird that they both had issues with Spotify or music media apps and the ativ s does not.
I work for MS. We all got a choice of 920 or 8X. I'd say 80 percent went for the Nokia, but everyone who's held them side by side prefers my HTC. Both great phones but the Nokia is *big*.

Remember Nokia will support their phones and are more involved in WP, HTC are mainly Android and suck with updates for older hardware, Nokia is the better option IMHO

920 has better video recording, no distortion when recording club or concert sound. Stable video.
I absolutely love the HTC 8X.. Would concede that the 920 has a better screen/camera.. But the 8X is good enough not to regret it.
Be wary if you use bluetooth headsets though.. Htc 8x (like the Titan before it) has a horrible bluetooth radio and can barely maintain a connection.

As to the specific points you're asking about, I'll have to say 920 hands down. The screen has overall better technology: the super sensitive touch is a nice feature, and pure motion is no gimmick: try watching some fast paced go pro hd vids and you'll know what I'm talking about: no blur whatsoever and super crisp colours: the clear black screen of the 920 (light polarization layer inside the glass) gives you better than average blacks (for an LCD) and great sun readability. You,may also wanna keep in mind that the 920 is 1280x768, while the 8x is 1280x720: this means that on the 920 you get only slightly less ppi (but they both are above 310 so human eye can't tell the difference) on a bigger screen, and the aspect ratio is proportional to the good old WP7 one, so all of the apps scale perfectly, and you get the most out of the screen real estate. The camera is pretty much on par with the 8x in daylight shots, but if we're talking about low light performance there's no comparison. Videos are great too (OIS is no gimmick either), still the best in class imho, even better than the super duper hyped GS4 and the One. If screen and camera are what you care for the most, then look no further, the 920 is the best WP handset out there.

Picture quality isn't as good as I think it should be. I know its not all about megapixels, but I can see grain in a lot of photo's taken the moment I view them on my PC due to the low pixel count. Battery life definitely. My friends S4 definitely lasts a whole lot longer and so does the S3 I'm currently using. Again a lot of what I'm basing my issues on are things that the "competition" have done better. USB OTG support is good, but there aren't any small adapters on the market at the moment. Waiting for that Kickstarter thumb drive to become available
Video audio quality is better on the S4 (I've seen a good 5 youtube videos showing the One with muffled audio in comparison to the S4, iPhone 5, Lumia 920/928). Bigger buttons only because I have to him them dead on target for them to work, but its not a major issue at all to be honest. And again, why HTC chose to have low frame rates when recording video in low light is beyond me. The One has the brightest, but also the choppiest video out of the S4, iPhone 5 and Lumia 920. If these things had been featured/included, the One would have been literally THE ONE

The first video is a comparison against the Galaxy S3, my video is comparing it against the S4 which is what the HTC ONE is competing against, not a previous model that came out in may 2012. Second video shows the HTC One by itself, and as I've stated before, the One's audio quality is good, but there are better devices out there in that department. The second video clip does not show what it would sound like if recorded from an S4 or a Lumia 928 or an iPhone 5, therefore, one cannot gather that the HTC One has better video audio quality when compared to it's competitors (iPhone 5, S4, Lumia 925/928, Xperia Z). Goodnight

I think you need an Sgs 3 or a Note 2. Can't say any of those things are a problem for me. Aside from smooth low light recording, all those things either don't interest me, don't happen, or aren't an issue.
Camera is the best i've seen and used on a phone, and i've used all of note, Battery life lasts me a day or more depending on useage. Audio is great even at concerts, back and home buttons work fine on custom roms, 32GB still leaves me atm with over 12 gig left and i've got everything i'll ever want on my phone.
Video comparisons are fine when you aren't there to watch and listen, but record anything on an SGS4 and a HTC One, and watch them back natively on the phone, and the One will come out on top. For every bad comparison there is a good one.
As for the OP, most if not all of those things are achievable with either a launcher or a rom.
My ten would be, even though I don't need them,
1. Even louder speakers
2. 16mp ultrapixel camera so I can crop etc
3. ..........erm...........
4. Um..............
5. I give up.
You can make htc a button, cyanogen mod does it, also a couple others.

An htc to 6t questions

Hello
I actually have a U11+ which is a great piece of hardware but horrible in updates and custom roms. Meaning boring for me.
The 6T is one of the rare phones that can push me to switch after years of htc to a new brand.
So here some questions:
- How's the pixelisation when using a VR google cardboard knowing it's a 1080p+ "only"?
- How's the camera if using gcam?
- How's bt audio and usb c to 3.5mm quality and loudness?

I can only comment on the audio question. My answer is, it's great! I have not used the other two features. But I will say this, I was a loooonnng time user of HTC devices. Most recently on the 10 but also owned the M9, M8, M7 as well as several others and I never thought I would like anything as much as the HTC flagships until I tried this 6T. It is sooooo much better in every way and especially the battery life. I could never get more than about 14 hours on my HTC devices with just normal/minimal use. But with the 6T I've gotten as much 2 1/2 days with the same type usage.

- Pretty bad but haven't tried with Google's cardboard, it was some other china brand. Also another issue would be that there aren't many choices based on the phone's size , from where i'm from that is.
- Gcam seems to offer better dynamic range comparing to the OP6T's stock camera app.
- Both are great. There's also Bluetooth equalizer so you have a range of adjustments to make to suit your liking.

Gcam on the 6T is awesome, perhaps even better than the Pixel 3 since photos from the 6T tend to be a little warmer. Check out this blind test - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhsxNcuz6Qg
