VS995 rooted but 2 issues - LG V20 Questions & Answers

ok so i have 2 issues and i dont know how to fix them
i know how to fix the second one but the first one is when i reboot or start up the phone after doign all the root and all it still boots into ur phone is currupted on eatch boot, is there a fix that the phone goes to the LG screen and just boots normaly
te second issue is the static screen, i know the temp way is to have the second screen off or cover that sencer then turn off the screen but i think plashing boot2.img can fix that as i thnk i did it before and just stick with the first issue

first one no known fix for the second flash this https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/kernel-restock-stock-based-kernel-v20-t3556263

Ever find a fix for the first? I read that flashing the VS995 TWRP instead of the US996 on the VS995 during the rooting / bootloader unlock process would do away with the screen static. I tried this however my handset wont boot into recovery by hard keys the first attempt so im not sure if it worked. I ended up getting the first error with the corrupt FS and had to enter in passes 16 some times before it finally formatted and then let me back into the OS.

While there is no real fix for that warning delay, some have managed to replace the warning logo with the LG logo to make it look nicer:

Awesome. You are reading my mind! heh. I was going to give that a try. Thanks kindly for the link.
As for the second issue i have found a way to fix this but trying to remember the complete process I did and single out what more than likely was the actual fix so nobody has to replicate everything i did. No static at all whatsoever and boots clean. Only there will be issues with booting into stock OS so you will need to flash a custom ROM. Ill create a thread when i get a minute.

Won't start

Sorry if this problem has already been solved(and if it has please redirect me to it)
Ok, well the problem is that my phone won't boot up past the HTC logo screen
1. I hold the power button down
2. The phone vibrates then the Rogers logo comes up
3. After a little bit the "htc" symbol appears
it just keeps repeating step 3, the "htc" symbol just fades away then fades back in.
I have taken out the battery for 10 seconds then tried it, still the same problem. I also tried taking the SIM card out and trying but still didn't work
Anyone please help me?
Do you let the power button go or keep holding it?
what where you doing previous to this?? flashing something or took out your sdcard? im assuming you are using a hero rom. if not what rom? its not close to brick at all. as long as you got boot then your good. you might have just messed up the system and might have to reflash.
Yup, thats a bootloop. Boot into recovery, wipe and reflash.

Need Help, Black screen no boot.

I am new to the android world, I have a vibrant that I rooted using the update.zip method. Then I went to apply the LAG FIX using the same method from the RyanZA thread. Now all I get is a boot sound and a black screen along with the buttons on the bottom glowing. I have no Idea where to even begin to recover this. I have a mac, any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you in advance!

That's a boot loop. In your case, being new and all, it might be better to re-install the ROM and try again. You might need to give it a while as well, I don't know the details of the zip you used, but it might be copying large amounts of data, which will look like a stall in the boot process.
Get ADB and open a terminal window and do "adb logcat" it should let you know where you are stuck in the boot. Post the log and someone here should be able to help you.
Also, get boot camp and/or Virtualbox going so you can use Odin, which requires Windows. If you mess something up, you can use Odin to get back to a stock setup. Sucks that it requires Windows, but that's just how it is for now.
Oppps mis-read this phone is complete black no noise just heat
Moved your thread to general section.
Had the same problem when I tried to install that FixLag update.zip. Lucky for me, I did an Anroid Backup before I attempt it.
Hold down Vol+ & Vol- and power it up, do a Wipe.. when its done, restart your phone. When its booting up, its gonna act the same without the Tmobile Flash and still missing the Samsung Galaxy S logo. Just wait for your phone to VIBRATE. Then your phone should be working. I dont know what happen in that update.zip but it deleted the Graphic at the beginning when you first boot up your phone. After that I went back and did a Recovery and got everything back too normal.

It worked!! Thank you so much! I am back up and running. No boot screens, however funtional and root maintained. Is there a way to recover the boot screens?
I was just searching through the forums for the answer to the last post in this thread - "is there a way to reinstall the boot animation? Well, is there? Mind, I DO NOT want the horrible tmo portion, just the S.

OTA Bootloop Help

I have a Verizon LG G2 I tried to flash my backed up stock recovery with Flashify so I could flash the most recent OTA. After accepting the OTA update my phone restarted, tried to install the update, hung at a black screen but was still turned on. If I power it off and back on it shows the LG logo, some white text, then goes to the same black screen. What appears to be happening is that my backup recovery did not restore properly and it's hanging when it tries to go into recovery. It's almost like my recovery partition is blank.
I've tried to follow the instructions to flash back to stock, but I do not believe I'm actually able to get my phone into download mode. When it is plugged into my windows 7 computer with the LG drivers installed it shows up in device manager as QHSUSB_BULK.
Is there any way for me to push a stock recovery, or even a custom recovery to my phone so I can somehow salvage it, or am I permanently bricked?

I'm still trying to find a solution I will post here if i have any luck. I've dug through a lot of forum posts and I think what makes us unique is the fact that we have a corrupt or blank recovery partition.

Ive looked through a lot too. and its crazy how that would happen i made sure it was rebooting correctly before i took the ota and then when i did the ota bam! only screens i can get to come up are the hardware key control mode and the factory hard reset which both go to white screens after I do them both. every one else probably has not taken the ota.

One difference in what mine is doing and what your phone is doing. I go to a solid black screen not a white screen. It's very hard to tell my phone is even turned on. I'm having to look if the back-light to verify if it's on or not. I can hold my power button for 10 seconds through one LG logo cycle and then it turns off.

I hope someone helps us out. I really cant afford a new one because the warranty is void. I was going back to stock because of all of the little bugs that need to be ironed out in roms. cause kit kat is around the corner hopefully and my problem virtually is the same i might have had my brightness on auto or something prior to that.

After following the instructions on the above link i was able to get fastboot status on my phone. It did not fully restore my phone however. I was able to flash twrp via fastboot. I was then able to boot into twrp and run the command at this link via twrp terminal http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696
Thanks to everyone for all your help.

Ignore all the message, unplug you phone get ready to type the command, plug it in and immediately press enter to run the command. it took some trial and error, and i had to use this other post to help me out. I actually got fastboot working first, then used this post to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477595 to get download mode working, and to flash twrp recovery. After that i used this post to run the command line from with twrp. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696 . I didn't have to flash the factory tot to my phone, but i have that option now because download mode is working. This process will work, there is hope for you getting your phone back. I'm fully recovered. I decided 12B is not worth it in the mean time, but if you want 12B you need to flash the factory tot and then upgrade. There is a way to root 12B, but as of this time you are unable to get Custom Recovery on it.

Stuck in boot loop, no recovery or ROM access

My phone is stuck in a boot loop after it automatically installed an OTA update when on a custom ROM. at first recovery worked, tried installing a custom rom from fresh with the sideload in CWM, then after reboot recovery does not boot, just LG logo and restarts again. Any ideas?
Need it fixed badly no phone for 5 days now.

I just did this today, and also am out of a phone for now, apparently I lost the software, and in the process of trying to get out of the ota i blocked twrp. Anyway, does yours just go on the lg logo and have the pulsing led? Thats what mine does and I think I can get into download mode which may help. But it wont show up when I plug it in . Good luck to you, if I figure something out ill post it here.

No LED but it just loops on the LG logo over and over, no access to download at all, tried all combinations but if i hold in power+vol buttons it eventually just gives flashing red LED until i let go of the power then it starts boot looping again.

The red led is what i get when I try to go into download mode too. Just holding down the down and up takes me to that and it keeps going until i press another button. Thats odd you have no led though.
Is this just unfixable? I really need my phone back.
Its the same thing that happened to me the other day. Theres a way to fix hopefully, try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142&page=3
My posts are at the end and mine is totally unrecoverable at the moment so off to Verizon for me. There are others in my shoes too but I would try that thread first to see if you can recover. If you do go thru ubuntu and only get " /dev/sda /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 /dev/sda5 "
your pretty much hosed from what I gather. No one has all the files to recover from where I'm at. See my posts on page 13 and 14.
Hopefully someone can figure this out but I cant wait for it to happen. Good luck

No doesn't work, that fix requires the phone to get PAST the LG initial turn on logo, but it only comes on for 10 seconds then reboots again, not enough time for USB to enable on the phone itself so PC can't even detect it.
Just LG for 10 seconds, off, then LG for 10 seconds and does it over and over.
Anyone else with an idea?
I'd rather not send it away because don't want to get in trouble for having recovery and custom ROM on the phone.
Did you figure out the solution?
I'm stuck in bootloop too, can't connect to the phone to use adb anymore after i tried to install trwp. Download mode isn't seen by my computer...

Nexus 6P BootLoop with Locked BootLoader

Hi all,
I'm sure I am still one of many that cannot use XCnathan32's solution to fix their phones. I think the biggest problem is that it is difficult to discern between hardware vs. software being the culprit. If hardware, nothing I do can help. I've wanted to use the solution but when the computer cannot even find the device/recognize it, I cannot even start the solution. Let me explain what my phone is like/ the state the boot loader is in:
Google logo is the only thing to show.
Even when trying to boot from bootloader -> recovery mode, it only goes to the google logo and boot loops from there.
Unfortunately I did not unlock developer options / USB debugging so my bootloader is LOCKED, my computer does not recognize the 6P at all unless in boot loader. It gives a strange description of the device, but does not treat it as a device in the device manager. Even if it does show I cannot update it's driver. It essentially seems like only the bootloader is a device rather than the phone.
I have tried leaving the device to boot in hopes of it miraculously starting and allowing me to go to developer options, this has failed as well.
Would anyone know/ be willing to explain how to proceed from here? I'm sure the options are limited when the device does not even show up on the computer.
Note: I don't know much about TWRP, ADB, SDK etc, its all 2 days new to me.
Thanks for any help!

I'm currently writing a guide to get to the OEM unlock stage on your thread . Thanks so much for all of your work, my phone is currently booting. Its got the google logo with a unlocked pad lock on the bottom and then it switches to a section with android warnings saying "Device software cant be checked for corruption, please lock the bootloader".
Its actually bootlooping again... I've flashed all the images possible on your downloads part of the thread Not sure if there's another option to take to get rid of the bootlooping.

That's the exact guide I used. I also used his first guide before that one was published by XDA. It almost seems too simple though. I feel like I'm missing something. I flashed the 48B_A4 firmware, then the twrp3_1_1_4Cores.img and reboot. It still boot looped. I then proceeded to flash the other possible imgs to see if they would work. I cant flash the EX kernel since I can't boot into recovery since it just boot loops again.

Format all partition except for internal storage.
1. Flash N2G48B_vendor.img into vendor partition
2. Flash N2G48B_4Cores.img into boot partition
3. Flash purenexus_angler-7.1.2-20170725-OFFICIAL.zip

5. Flash EX4_1_1_4Cores.zip (Elemental Kernel), step up the core speed one notch on first screen, leave the rest on default.
Reboot.

Because i am in your similar situation, all i can see is the google logo & bootloader is locked (i cannot go to the settings menu because the phone doesnt bootup, i am stuck in the google logo).
If i run the fastboot flashing unlocl it fails (since bootloader is locked)

Hi there - I ended up having to use a blow dryer to throttle the phone using High heat. I wouldn't recommend it, it wasnt safe and my phone after fixing stopped working in an hour. If your phone isn't working despite following the fix above get a new phone, the pixel 3a seems like a nice new option, good luck!

OK, I don't have a bootloop problem per se, but I changed my battery and now it only goes to the Reboot bootloader screen. The arrow keys don't work to change the menu. Sometimes I can get it to Recovery mode, but neither the power key or arrow keys will work. Once I got it to the Start, but the power key did nothing. ADB devices returns nothing, so even though I installed the Google USB drivers in Android Studio I can't get the computer and the Nexus to talk to each other. I'm ready to try heating the device, but that goes against everything I've ever known about electronic devices. Are you sure? .
