I am running DC v1.0 and i feel like ever since installing this ROM
after being on Fresh 1.1, my batter takes forever to charge via the wall
outlet (AC power). I followed all of the steps on xda as far as properly getting damage's rom to install on my phone. Running 1.6.2 recovery, and i did not upgrade my radio but that really shouldnt have any effect on how long it now takes to charge my phone. I have yet to monitor how long it would take using USB cable. Anyone else experiencing this? When i was running 1.5 while rooted, the phone would charge in no time (could go from 25% to full in about 1.5 hrs). Now it seems that an hour charging will only net me another 15% or so in battery life. Any suggestions on something i can tweak/fix or even monitor why this is happening?

I'm also running DC v1.0 and from what I can tell, if I plug into a USB port and am actually using the phone, it pretty much only "keeps up". Meaning that the battery doesn't go down, but it doesn't seem to be charging significantly either.
Haven't noticed any difference plugged into the wall. I can go from dead to fully charged in a couple hours (haven't timed it, but I'd guess about 2 1/2).
Same here, really annoying. I've been charging the thing all day...

Try this. It allows the phone to sleep properly, and also helps charge time.
this is one of those off the wall things that made me flash back to fresh 1.1...lol there were to many little things that would work. but then wouldnt,, and im sure its a combo of things etc.. but i got tired lol and went back..

I apologize in advance if there is a similar thread; I could not find one.
My EVO has been fine, no issues. I use it heavily every day. I'm running Cyanogen 7 nightly 147 (I think) and have been for 4 or 5 days. Using the Tiamat kernel running SMARTASS.
Last night I shut down around midnight with around 50% power. I plugged in the charger but don't remember if the charging light came on then. This morning there is no charging light and the phone won't boot. Tried long holding the power button, battery pulls, pulled the SD card (for lack of anything else to try). Nothing has had any effect.
Does anyone have other ideas? I'm at a loss. If it's dead, it sure chose a strange way to go. Any advice would be very appreciated. I need this thing for work and home. Many thanks.
Just after posting I went back to playing with different chargers and power button pushes. The white HTC logo flashed for a second and the phone vibrated but it went right back off. It's the first sign of life I've seen, but I can't get it to repeat or go further.
This happened to my sisters Evo when she first got it last summer. Luckily it was the battery and HTC shipped a new one for free. The warranty on the evo is 15 months so you can try and request a new battery!

I have found one similar thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913258. So maybe it is a dead battery. Been getting amazing life recently, so it seems crazy that it would suddenly be dead. Is this common?
Any suggestions for going to the Sprint store with a rooted phone? Since it's a bad battery, they may not need to look at the phone once it boots. I haven't had to do this before, so I'm not sure what to expect.
if you do go to a sprint store, i would not let them keep the phone or even take it out of your sight. if that happens you may well find yourself unrooted. but thats just a guess. you can get on ebay or any other similar site and buy a cheap battery for less than $5. then if thats not the problem go from there. this same problem happened to me but luckily one of my friends also has an EVO so i just used his battery and my phone worked great. so i just bought a new battery
Thanks for the input. Headed to the Sprint store in a minute to see if a battery will solve it.
It was the battery. They tested in at the Sprint store and pronounced it DOA. They said they don't normally have spare batteries but they happened to have one, luckily. I was pretty grabby with the phone and didn't let it go for long. Once it started to boot I took it back and they never saw the Cyanogen screens.
Overall they handled it very well. I was impressed with how responsive they were. I was out of there in 10 minutes.
I have been using a new ICS build and wanted to warn everyone about the shutdown problems. It seems that by choosing to shut down by pushing the button and choosing "shut down" leaves the backlight running (you can see it if you look).
This has drained my battery down to nothing preventing my Kindle from booting. The stock charger did nothing, no charge, no light, no boot. Plugging in to the PC made the Kindle come on, but reboot after a couple seconds, not long enough for me to even get into recovery mode.
On a hunch I used my phone charger. Not only did the Kindle kick on and boot, but it seems to be slowly charging. I restored back to the stock ROM and now it seems like the stock charger has no effect at all.
Just be careful and be aware that the back light will stay on for now until the kernel is updated.

yeah two known bugs for the 3.0 kernal are usb wall charging and the device not shutting all the way off (backlight stays on). if you need to you can always go into recovery to charge up. also turning lockscreen and touch sounds off in settings>sound will help save battery
It's 2 different bugs that can combine in a bad way: quick battery drain and loss of wall charger.
Anyways there is hope, people have been grabbing a USB charger form other devices or for most the USB-PC route still charges.
The ROMs are getting very good, the banding is fixed and it seems the AC charger issues have been patched up, even the small menu buttons are fixed in one of the ROMs. Now all I need is a volume bar and I will have my daily driver for a while.

Back to OP, I used to hold power until the backlight would turn off (about 15sec) but one day it just so happened that my kindle did not turn off completely even then. After that I have been holding it down for a straight 20sec.

No, and that's why it's a surprise to them. Hashcode has been saying, repeatedly, he doesn't recommend it as a daily kernel. In big red letters, at the top of two threads, it says wall charging doesn't work. Throughout those threads it has other people posting who say they don't know why their kindle died overnight.
It's just a neverending...I wanna call it a cycle, but there's no cycle to it. It's more like a neverending stream of people who refuse to read.
Guaranteed, if I made a thread offering a kernel and in big red letters at the top it said "THIS KERNEL WILL BRICK YOUR KINDLE" and then proceeded to post a changelog and other information about how to install, etc... There would be no less than 100 posts the following day asking why their kindle doesn't work.
If the devs were offered a dime every time somebody failed to follow directions...

@ryanhuong - just wanted you to confirm once that the wall charger is not indeed working for you.
I too had the same impression for some time as it _looks_ that way, but then realized it is working when I hit the top-left Refresh button in Settings -> Battery. The % kept going up.

With the newest kernel yes it seems to charge fine. The Pure AOKP build seemed to have more issues. Now I am using the newer AOKP and not does the charger work again, but the LED now shows orange or green (but the battery icon s still wrong).
Huge improvements so far.
This happened a few times with my Optimus V. This was because there was no offline charging support for AOSP ROMs at the time. The only way I could get the phone to stay on was to force the battery into a LG Rumor Touch and recharge it with that until the battery could boot the Optimus. Thinking how the Kindle Fire has no offline charging support and a non-removable battery strikes fear into my soul.
I know the AOKP ROMs fully power off the device. So at least I'm okay with that.
Also, is it bad that my Kindle Fire charges extremely slow with any other cable than the stock charger?

It will always work best with the stock charger, but until the bugs are fixed, who knows.

It does charge offline, the problem lies in the LED not reporting this properly (it doesn't turn on to reflect the charge status).

This is normal, as they usually provide less amps than the stock charger (1.8).
For what it's worth, I am on #33 AOKP KF Edition and the LED works perfectly. It's the icons that don't work right.
EDIT: I take that back. If the KF is asleep and you plug it in the LED stays dark. If the tablet is awake and you connect the charger, the orange comes on, putting the tablet to sleep the LED stays orange till it turns green when full.

Actually as one of the guys that's working on the kernel I would have to say you're incorrect. Wall charging does in fact work. The issue with the led is that the kernel doesn't correctly update it, as well as it doesn't update the from in a manner for the icon to change. If you download a battery widget in the market you will see that it does in fact charge with a wall charger. This is also a better route to go since the OEM charger puts out about 1000mv as opposed to 100mv w/USB 1.0 or 500mv w/USB 2.0. Only other steady charging scenario would be USB 3.0 because its output is 900mv.

So I just beat DeadSpace (yay), then I decided to reply on a harder difficulty. Within 15 minutes the phone turned itself off and the LED flashed RED once really briefly. Now it won't power on at all. The issue just happened, I don't know what's up.
I hope it isn't in the untouchable state (soft-bricked) again...................... Of course this stuff happens to me at this time in the night when nobody is awake to respone ......... What do I do? How can I fix it?
If it fixes itself I'll let you know.... I know for sure that I'm not playing Deadspace again after this...
EDIT 1* Just unplugged the charger and popped it into another wall. Now the Red Flash is just staying on, the phone is plugged in. What's going on?.......
EDIT 2* The Red LED stopped, phone still won't power on
EDIT 3* The phone now shows the low battery screen while being powered off... I'm guessing it'll power on now
EDIT 4* The phone successfully powered on, nothing is wrong with it now

Soooo! To make it not so pointless, I think I found out why it does this. I think Deadspace drained more battery than the phone could charge so the phone died (battery drain) with no warning. And when it did die the phone was in a state of "what the heck - - - computing - - - enjoy this RED LED!!!!!!". I guess it just means "Super dead battery". So in case anybody else fears for their $500 investment, just give it 10-15 minutes before you panic, and let your phones actually charge
From what I can gather from the various threads about the "Red Led Of Death" is that if it's flashing - it's recoverable in some way, if it's just a solid glow you're SOL. I've spent the last 2 days trying to get my N4 to live again Would actually help if people where more specific about if it's flashing or not.
Just got off the phone to the Play Store and arranging for them to start the RMA process. I guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks what the problem is.
When I first rooted I had the light for 4 hours, got it in and out of the red LED state 3 times that night. It was a horrifying experience. I do not know how I fixed it. I was jamming buttons and eventually got into the boot loader mode, from there I flashed stock boot.img and the rest is history... I wish you luck!!!

I know I'm not alone on this one, I have to constantly cool down, it's totally intermittent and it's scalding....I hope it will be fixed soon and not just a myth. the folks at ATT said it had something to do with being more green. I think if an app is spinning in the background, it should be told to stop....
Mine gets very warm very quickly, but hasn't (yet) gotten hot. Certainly not "uncomfortable to hold" hot, anyway.
yeahh, i just received the phone and there are a lot of downloads an updates, but the phone is really hot. with a normal charger i hane no charging at all. the drain is bigger than than the energy from the charger.

I have been told by BlackBerry tech support the heat temperature flare ups could be caused by the encryption that is being done in the background.
Mine doesn't get to hot but it does get as warm as my note 5. I purchased egrip stickers from amazon to improve the grip and it has also helped with the comfort of the amount of heat you feel while holding the device in your hand and my pocket
I found a great app called "ShutApp" It let's you shut everything down that's running in the background. I have 117, It's running so much cooler now and the battery is lasting longer.
It's still not fixed got very hot in airplane mode plugged in at 100%, it dropped to 97 still plugged in So it must be something to do with charging.. It also just comes and goes as I'm working or watching a video...but sometimes under the same load it stays cool....
12/7 3rd party Camara apps are really cooking, and with short use maybe there should be a handwarmer app (lol)
12/11 I'm sad that this is electing my future non removable battery's life! ..at 100% I reboot in airplane with no apps running in background and plugged in it returned to 99% and started baking.. this is a power problem......
Yes my BlackBerry does get hot for no reason. All my apps are shut, last night i had it in my pocket and i felt it on my leg very warm. As I'm typing this right now i also feel it in the middle back of the phone. I really hope they fix this. As for battery life i am very disappointed, I thought it was supposed to be 22 hours and my lasts like 8 to 10 hours. I even got myself a Aukey portable battery charger and Aukey quick charger, it does charge fast like 1 hour and 30 minutes but it also drains quick. Apparently what drains it the most if being connected to WiFi. Really hoping they find a root for this or fix all these problems or I'm going back to Samsung.

Serious hot spots have occurred in Airplane with minimal background while just working on a pic or document.. This is a serious problem and is leaning towards being a hardware issue.. Even though it helps to run an efficient system .. IT should be able to tell whatever when it is getting that hot to cool off....
I will hope to exchange it a third time But not until I know the replacement they give me isn't nt just another of the same....

The priv is the very first of its kind but here are some things you can do to cool it down
1: Turn The Brightness Down- most phones tend to heat up because the battry is pushing alot of power to the screen to make it brighter
2:Android: The Priv is the first blackberry not running the original OS; It's now running on Android Marshmallow which has a lot of animations and alot mor functionality so this could also cause it.
3: Replace The Battery: Yes I know it's the battery that came with the phone. I have 3 friends with the priv and when 2 of them went from stock battery to generic there phone did not turn into a brick out of the oven!

i had this issue for the first 2-3 days of getting the phone. disabled a few of the 'neat' settings ( wake on pick up, bb keyboard predictions, using swiftkey instead of bb keyboard, maybe a few others ) and since then it doesnt even get warm, like at all.. had it on for 20 minutes playing a youtube video and the phone was still cool...
Bought mine 2 weeks ago, it does get pretty hot (to the point of not touching it sometimes).
Only when I play games or snapchat, browsing internet doesn't heat it too much.
Especially when charging, so I try not to use it as much.
But the battery drops the same so it doesn't matter much, I just let it cool down and continue
Are you on any marshmallow rom ?
I haven't had any problems while using marshmallow.
