Hi there.
I am looking for something to flash my Galaxy S8 Plus (Exynos version), something that generally resembles as closely as possible to Stock android, the way it was intended to be.
I came across the actual factory images for the Nexus and Pixel lineups, and was wondering... has anyone tried/has successfully installed this ROM on a device OTHER than the Google Pixel or a Nexus device?
If this isn't possible, can anyone recommend me a ROM which is compatible with the S8 lineup and closely resembles stock android please.
Thank you.

Hi everyone,
I just switched from an iPhone 4 to an S4 and so far the experience has been great, however, I wanted to know if there's a way to run 'Pure Android' on it.
From what I THINK I know, Samsung's version of android has a bunch of pre-installed crap. Call me crazy but this bothers me, I just want a clean OS, and that's something I liked about iOS. I don't know if it has any other limitations, I haven't gotten that far into it yet, except from the home dock being locked.
Anyway, I'm a complete Android noob, but I can follow clear instructions.
Is it even possible to do what I'm after? Is there a clean, safe and fast way of doing it for somebody like me that doesn't know much about these things?
Also, I don't have access to a PC as I am a mac user.

If you can't wait for the Galaxy S4 Google Edition , why don't you just buy LG Google Nexus 4 instead of Galaxy S4 before that ?

The S4 is still pretty new so development is still picking up, but AOSP roms are supposed to give you that pure android experience. Cyanogenmod (CM), AOKP and others add some great tweaks and settings for further customizations. You can check the Original Android Development for Cyanogenmod and AOKP, but I would suggest you wait a while as things are still being improved. They should get more stable soon and have clean and clear installation methods.
Android differs from iOS in that you get a lot of customization options. Different people have different choices and android can be adapted for anyone. Some like the pure android experience and go for either a Nexus phone, which is pure android, or install an AOSP rom on their non-nexus phone.
Some people like Samsung's Touchwiz while others do not. Other roms add even further customizations, etc. Welcome to android..!
Hello all!
This is my first post on XDA, I was just wondering how Android Betas work... I know how iOS works because that was my main driver for a year when I thought the iOS market was superior. (Please ignore that comment when replying... xD), you just loaded a simple file.
But the Android Betas seem different...
I have a S7 Edge so:
is it possible to trick the beta into working on an S7?
Does it even work that way?
Or would it just break on loading the OS?
I'm a fairly tech-y guy, so you don't need to necessarily dumb it down for me.
Thanks !
EDIT 1:
Oops! Forgot to be specific! I meant Android Betas like Android N!

What betas are you speaking of? For apps, the betas are under "Early Access" in the play store. Other apps (if the developer chooses) have an option to opt-in to beta releases at the bottom of the app description (see screenshot).

I understand what you ask.
1st thing is we wish it was as easy as nexus!
As exynos is closed source we can't make it boot without issues. Read 1st post of CM13 thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/cyanogenmod-13-galaxy-s7-edge-t3414697
It's exactly the same as attempting to install and boot an N preview. Hopefully that may clear things a little ??

Yes, they've released the open source parts of their kernel but none of the necessary code to run on the s7 with success right out the box.
Samsung will compile N once it's fully released by Google but with touchwiz UX and Samsung bloat lol. Rumours of an N beta build for s7 is being tested internally by Samsung as some comments in the firmware thread in the guides section but no vanilla android for us S7 owners for a while.
thats one of the cons of owning a samsung device..you will never experience true stock android on a samsung device although they did have a galaxy s5 google play edition but not anymore

I have a AOSP tablet and even had a chinese AOSP phone that had like 20 different OS's. I sold the phone cause it wasn't as awesome as my S6. I had a choice to get a nexus phone or lg g5 or xperia. But I chose S7 Edge cause it was simply better. AOSP is nice when it comes to modding it etc but after like a week or two it just gets slightly boring. I also had a lot of IPhones and an IPad but S7 Edge so far is waaay better than all of them.
Basically I looking at running a stock android experience, something akin my nexus 6p.
From what I can see, there is not much info in the way of this particular model due to whatever reason.
When I had a Xoom, I was able to flash all the different versions on it as long as I didnt care about the LTE functionality, is that the same with the tab a? (assuming all other functionality is working in the rom)

You can probably use ROMs for the T350 and only lose LTE but the chance of using anything else are slim to none. Samsung's Tab A designation doesn't mean much at all. It pretty much only designates into what price category the tablet falls.

Good to know! Now, to actually root the prick, had nothing but issues with it on 7.1.1
There are official AOSP Roms like Lineage OS for the Galaxy S7 or even S9, but there is no for the Galaxy S8.
What is the reason for that?
I really would like to have something like Pixel Experience on my G950F

There are several nice roms available for the Exy S8 If there isnt one you like the next best thing would be to make it yourself. If it where that easy there would be plenty of them out by now
Is it be possible or easier to port a Rom of the S9. I already have seen lots of ports

Lack of developers. They've all moved on
Is it Possible to Flash Samsung's One UI on Oneplus 8 series without Unlocking Bootloader, like Color OS was Available few weeks back Officially.
Are you suggesting flashing Samsung Firmware onto a OnePlus device? Or are you asking if there's a skinned OnePlus ROM One UI? Color OS was available but it's built for OnePlus devices.
I re-posted as a reply.....hence the dbl post.

Is this a serious thread?
You could maybe get the launcher and some bits, but bare in mind that not even the OnePlus camera is ported to custom ROMs that aren't OOS.
Frankly I think the chance of getting a Samsung OS port OnePlus is between 0-1%
I really don't understand why anyone would want it.
If you want to do it then good luck..

Great, good for you.
This will not happen on this device..
If it does it'll be broken, Samsung does not make it easy to port their stuff.
LG? I don't think they care anymore.
Motorola? Pretty sure they're owned by Google or were, so wouldn't imagine the leap being massive.
But the amount of services and crap you'd need to port one UI correctly, sorry but it's not happening.

Like I said
What doesn't work / Bugs:
NFC
Alert Slider(duh?)
Auto Rotation toggle doesn't do anything so keep it disabled.
Brightness goes from 50% at the minimum to 100% very quickly so You can only use 50,75,100% within 1mm of slider length.
Vibrations
FP Scanner
AOD brightness is always 100%
RIL
Samsung Cloud has problems with logging in.
Bixby probably would work but has to be updated. (Use APKMirror and try!)
Probably more stuff. Working on fixing all bugs.
Is it worth it? To me? No.
Why not just get a Samsung? Never quite understood why people buy a phone, then flash a Port on it. I mean if you want MIUI by a Xiaomi, if you want One UI buy a Samsung.

I agree mate, unless you're in the UK in which case you'd be getting the exynos chipset which is pretty crap.
Don't get me wrong is someone makes a fully functional or even semi functional ROM from any other device then yes it's great, I just know Samsung as I've had a few and their OS is just not for the faint of heart, even their watches were hard to port android to (older ones specifically)
But yea, if you want OneUi, there's only one real way to get it
