phone not booting - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my op2 doesn't connect to my computer, it shows that usb device malfunctioned so I tried going back to lollipop rom directly by flashing in stock recovery >.< and then now it doesn't boot and I'm not able to connect to laptop and no way to change the rom, any help and suggestion please?

1) boot into fastboot to flash twrp
2) put a ROM in your USB
3) use OTG adapter to connect the USB to your phone and flash the ROM via that.

thanks for your reply, this looks like the best choice and I hope it works , I have thought about it but I have to buy an otg cable and If it doesn't work its such a waste,
and I have heard of otg not working properly with oneplus 2 and do you know if its on by default?
any other suggestions?

I beleive it would work in TWRP mode but have never tried myself
Access the fastboot mode and flash fastboot images, look around XDA you'll find my fastboot images

You don't need TWRP if you have working fastboot which you probably have. Just flash the full image and you're ready to rock on 3.5.8

Otg looks like my last hope, they are pretty expensive in my country so not sure if I should buy or not. Thanks for your help, will tell how it goes when I get the cable.

Did you install any recovery module like CWM or TWRP on the mobile. I faced the same situation and I was able to recover my phone using TWRD and ADB consoles. I will be able to help you if you have installed any one of these.
Thanks.

Only one question,
Do you have any ROM installed currently or stuck without any rom. Like boot loop and secure boot issue etc.
If you have TWRP at least installed on your device, you may use "adb push xxxx.zip /sdcard/xxxx.zip" command if the device is discoverable in "adb discover" command. You may follow the guide here "http://www.droidviews.com/android-4-4-2-kitkat-rom-on-lg-g2-d802-install-twrp/"
If you are able to boot in X rom you may use this guide to shine yourself in stock rom

Thanks!

Firstly you may not go do download mode for flashing factory rom. You can do the same even from recovery. However, the guide in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51693321#post51693321 seems working for many. You may give that a try.
Thanks.

hi, i did it trying to change a rom via twrp, when finished flashing gone black screen!!
Connect phone to computer
Type
adb devices
See anything?
If not try fastboot devices
If you see anything, try typing
adb reboot recovery
If you can get here, you can try flashing the stock room over your current ROM. Make sure to wipe cache

boots to google logo

hi; rank amateur here. i unlocked my 6p which went with no problems and then installed trwp, now it just boots to the google logo. i can get to fastboot and twrp but my linux pc no longer sees the phone. i suspect the phone is in charge mode. can i use recovery, > terminal to turn on data transfer so i can load and flash a new os? i was looking at loading a zip to a sd card but i had to order an adapter from c to type a usb. thanks
@dr1445 Have you tried a factory reset? I'm not how Linux works but if I'm remembering correctly I think Windows installed additional drivers after I unlocked the bootloader. This is a bit old but looks like people are still using might find something useful.
yes i did try a factory reset but the same result. as for the the linux pc i used it to unlock the 6p and other phones, i just need to toggle off the the charge function and click on transfer. i have a widows machine, i will give it a try, never know.
fastboot says connect cable but it also reports download mode disabled, is there away to turn it on in fastboot?

Make sure your fastboot is the latest and maybe try a different cable if you can.

You're best bet is to just flash a factory image from Google and start over, link

Make sure your on the latest bootloader (3.79) I know that was a must after March update for most ROMs. Also make sure fastboot is the latest here.I think your best option is written above with reflashing latest stock image from March and starting over.
happy to check the bootloader version. i get bl: angler-03.79, baseband: angler-03.85. should be good?

Sorry, no idea. You can try to get access via Odin or Heimdall to flash a stockrom. Haven't touched Android devices for a while now.

Screen dead after wrong firmware update

Hi all,
So basically I was trying to install Pixelexperience to my Note 7 today and I messed it up big time. So I was having some issues with TWRP and one of the solutions (according to posts I found on Google) was to update the phone firmware. So I went to do that. Downloaded the lavander firmware for my Note 7, put it in the folder with other stuff I was downloading. One of these was firmware for Redmi A5 (which I didn't notice) and ended up flashing that. Now my phones screen is dead (I guess the rest of it also?). When I plug it in to PC the PC produces the sounds that something connected but running fastbood / adb devices doesn't return anything. I tried multiple times booting to fastboot / recovery but I have no idea when the phone is on or off. So it just produces sound on PC that it disconnected and connected like 1 second after but nothing still shows up on fastboot.
Did anyone had similiar issue and is there anything I can do? Or should I go look for a new phone?
Thank you for your time
