Just start messing with android. My Nexus all i have to do is run google voice and i can turn off notifications for default sms app. All notifications will alert me if phone is awake or sleep.
With the hero i dont get notifications when phone is sleep if i turn off default app and use just google voice app. To sum up, when phone goes to sleep i dont get alerts form google voice app until i wake the phone up. Is that the way 1.5 works?
I have an ATT Nexus One (2.2) and lately i have not consistently been receiving notification of new sms' in the google voice app. i only realize that i have new messages when visiting google voice via the web or manually opening the client on my device; these messages have been sitting unread for several hours. when i do open the google voice app, the new message alert/notificaiton is set off immediately. i suspect that the background google voice service/listening daemon on android is not running correctly or occasionally needs to be restarted/reset.
i've also noticed that the google voice app doesn't launch the first time i tap on its icon on the home screen. usually the first tap is not registered or the screen flashes as if it's launching. i'll have to select it again, and then it'll launch properly to the inbox.
am i going crazy? anyone else having similar problems? thanks.
i was hoping to uninstall and reinstall the app, but it can't be uninstalled (at least as far as i've seen via the market or in the settings menu)
Hi. I'm using superclean 2.4 voodoo and am using Google Voice for voicemail. I turned off the text notification option in its settings, but I still get text/transcripts every time I get a voicemail and it's extremely annoying for me. I just want a regular voicemail notification icon in the notification bar and that's it. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? Thanks in advance.
I believe I figured it out. Regardless of what the app settings are, it was turned on within Google Voice on the website for my account under Settings/Voicemail tab under "Voicemail Notifications" where it was checked on. I still believe the app is buggy since even when I delete voicemails via the app, say in the Spam folder or Trash folder, they don't go away - I have to login to the website to do that. So just a heads up for anyone who runs into any these problems.
if you go to to phone and go to settings theres an option to select
incoming call popups which will display oncoming call popup when an app is in use.
the phone stock comes with it selected so
i unchecked it so that if im using an app the incoming call popup wont show
but i still get the incoming call taking over the screen..
anyone have any issues with this?

Click to collapse
Only thing unchecking the pop-up does is disable the small answer/decline tab that drops down from the notification bar, it then defaults to the stock Android answer screen which I guess is what u are seeing. Otherwise how u gonna know who's calling?
I don't get what you want to accomplish?
do you not want to see who is calling?
yeah i was hoping if i was in the middle of an app it wouldn't take over the entire app maybe like just the top notification bar would light up
Not sure if I am the only one or if someone might have a suggestion. When I get a call and if I am not already logged into my phone I cannot find a way to answer it? Doesn't matter if it's a phone call or someone using the messenger video chat. There use to be a icon on the screen or something in the top drop-down menu... Now nothing. Phone vibrates and rings but I cannot answer. Any ideas?
Do you have any apps affecting the screen lock?
Just to check, have you turned off notifications on the lock screen in settings? That shouldn't matter but...
An old school thing I would check is if the phone app is listed as the default app for "phone" in settings -> apps & notifications -> advanced -> default apps
By any chance, are notifications for the phone app turned off?
Cleared cache for the app and if that doesn't work, for the device?
Fixed
Appears the clearing of cache did the trick. Thanks.
