I have an ATT Nexus One (2.2) and lately i have not consistently been receiving notification of new sms' in the google voice app. i only realize that i have new messages when visiting google voice via the web or manually opening the client on my device; these messages have been sitting unread for several hours. when i do open the google voice app, the new message alert/notificaiton is set off immediately. i suspect that the background google voice service/listening daemon on android is not running correctly or occasionally needs to be restarted/reset.
i've also noticed that the google voice app doesn't launch the first time i tap on its icon on the home screen. usually the first tap is not registered or the screen flashes as if it's launching. i'll have to select it again, and then it'll launch properly to the inbox.
am i going crazy? anyone else having similar problems? thanks.
i was hoping to uninstall and reinstall the app, but it can't be uninstalled (at least as far as i've seen via the market or in the settings menu)

Hi. I'm using superclean 2.4 voodoo and am using Google Voice for voicemail. I turned off the text notification option in its settings, but I still get text/transcripts every time I get a voicemail and it's extremely annoying for me. I just want a regular voicemail notification icon in the notification bar and that's it. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? Thanks in advance.
I believe I figured it out. Regardless of what the app settings are, it was turned on within Google Voice on the website for my account under Settings/Voicemail tab under "Voicemail Notifications" where it was checked on. I still believe the app is buggy since even when I delete voicemails via the app, say in the Spam folder or Trash folder, they don't go away - I have to login to the website to do that. So just a heads up for anyone who runs into any these problems.
Anyone else have the issue that the GV notification will not go away from the notification bar if you open the message from there? Seems you have to open the actual app itself to get it to clear from a new message.
And also, unlike Gmail, it doesnt clear if you check a message from the web. That one really kills me.
This happen to anyone else?
It has been like that for months now. Google doesn't give that app much attention.
After the Nougat update, I appear to no longer have the Hangouts icon in the notification bar. This happens for both Hangouts messages as well as SMS (Hangouts is my default SMS app).
I tried some light googling but not sure whats going on. Any one else experience this?
EDIT: I followed some instructions (remove google account, clear Google Play cache, add account back, reboot.) and I got the icon back. I am going to run some tests to see if that solved it. At least I get the icon back.
I cannot eliminate the VM icon on the task bar. There are no voicemails. I have tried but it does not swipe away. I have tried to restart, clear cache, to no avail. Any ideas? This phone just got set up with no other issues. I cannot even find a voice mail app.
You should have a voicemail application in your list of applications.
From your home screen, swipe up into the application list and type "voicemail" in the "Search Apps" area.
Once you open the application there are probably "sample" messages describing the Sprint voice to text service. (Good add on service, especially if you are often in meetings and can't listen to a voicemail... you can read the transcription.)
Hey All,
I am still using Oreo 8.1, and am mostly happy. Recently (likely after a Google update of some sort I am getting a BLANK page when i double tap on Google voice notifications from the lock screen. I see the regular messages page for a split second then it's blank/ Exiting and re-entering google voice shows me the content normally.
I am using the current version of Nova launcher and am rooted.
I have tried deleting cache/data for a few things, Nova, Google voice, SMS. No change.
Anyone else experiencing this or have a fix or workaround?
Thanks,
Rich
