If you are staying stock, go with the latest 4.2.2 firmware as it has improvements in regard of gaming drivers and lags compared to 4.1.2.
There's GENNXT, that's the most stable available stock based ROM.
Advantage of stock would be better gaming experience, samsung apps and dual SIM functionality
While the down side would be the usage of RAM is a little higher, as can be expected by stock based ROMs, so expect freezes and lags every now and then.
If you are going custom, in 4.2.2 there's only CM11 that was just released 3 days ago. If you opt to downgrade to 4.1.2, there's an array of ROMs available like PAC-MAN, MoKee, SlimBean, Resurrection and so on.
Personally I would recommend SlimBean, as it's the one I'm usually on and it's the one with the best battery backup, but all of them are full of customizations.
Advantage of being on these would be great performance, close to no lags at all, and starts with over 500 Mb RAM free
And the main disadvantage would be single SIM functionality and limited graphic drivers from 4.1.2 firmware

slim 4.4.2 if you are thinking about(slimcat which is called) , is not at all stable yet !!! so there is no 4.4.2 i clear again....

so i've scoured google on the differences between the two. And it all boils down to features.
I know that Resurrection remix is currently on lollipop. but i dont know what MIUI is running.
i dont know what kinds of features the both of them have that i can compare with.

the latest version of miui for n7100 is quite old(both official and mdiary). In the official ones they have used the samsung apps itself(like camera) whereas the diary build is older .Anyway miui is not being updated.RRemix is regularly updated and has lot more features than mini.In my opinion don't go for mini.

1. There is a miui v5 4.4 version which is built on the omni rom it is quite sluggish imo and miuiv5 ceased before it had a chance to improve.
2. There is a miuiv5 4.2 which is cyanogenmod based which is stable but has no touchwizz based apps like s-note and s-pen and samsung camera
3. Now the miuiv5 4.1 is fully touchwizz based and very stable with samsung apps like s-pen and S-note fully working Samsung keyboard with spen support and Samsung camera
In my opinion 4.1 Is best visually better and faster in every way
Hello guys,
I'm acutally running the X-Note build 20 stuck on Android 4.4.2
I have some problems to recognize a good rom for me so I'm here asking for suggestions. I don't need anything customized. If you could indicate a CLEAN stock rom that could let me be updated with the lastest android versions, I would be really thankful.
Thanks in advance
One of the best you can find is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649176
I am looking for a stable nexus like ROM for note 3, I am thinking of getting the next nexus device and want to try and sample the experience for the next few months. Any suggestions as to which ROM will suit me best. I am looking for something stable and reliable?
There is far too many options available now.
Should I go for something like omega ROM? I don't normally flash ROMs but I am sure I will figure it all out.
AOSP Roms
Your should forget Samsung TW crapware and flash an AOSP Rom.
Try Slim if you want lean and stable or Euphoria to remain stable and have more customization options.

Happy flashing...
Many thanks for your reply, I think I will give slim a try.

i suggest cm based roms, bigger choice and more community support through shear numbers LOL
perhpas i have t add that i tried almost any rom on 7 devices. nevertheless slim is one of the very best roms around, well maintained. i just need a few more features and xposed is not yet stable enough for me and app settings does not yet work.
Slim used to be my Rom of choice until these last months when we can't have neither visibility nor understanding on what is happening in/to the team.
And I have switched from the Galaxy "S" series to "Note" series, so although I'm very fond of AOSP, it's hard to find an AOSP rom with the native TW features, mainly S-Pen features that I used quite a lot.
I've tried Aryamod and found it nice. My daily driver so far.

I use the multi-window feature a lot so I kept returning to touchwiz roms.
better battery life and better s pen support is also a plus.
currently the best rom in my opinion is aryamod 5.3, but you can wait until 5.4 comes out.
the most important thing is to go to the OTA app that comes with the rom and flash the "no 3minit battery" zip, which will return your battery icon to default instead of the retarded 3minit one.
good luck
Is there a ROM with original Samsung apps but is fast & lean like CyanogenMod 12.1?
Is there a ROM with original Samsung apps but is fast & lean like CyanogenMod 12.1?
Darklord Note 5, 5.1.1 TW ported.. Beside the camera that doesn't work, is by far the fastest rom for N3.. Is still having some bugs but we have the promise from the dev that in few days releases an update to fix them all. Cheers!

I believe many of the Samsung apps need a ROM based on a TW kernel.
use AryaMod Rom ,it's touch wiz based and not battery hungry like AOSP variants
Hi, i always use old android 4 roms for my smartphones, because the roms have been long updated and the 4. ist much faster because it has not this encryption. (my old s4 is in 50% of the opertaions i use faster). But which rom is the best? I want to have xposed and viper sound mod. the shohat rom has it included, but the comments was not so good with the performance and battery life. what do you recommend me?
If you mean KitKat (android 4.4) ROMs, the last one I've used was omega ROM.
However, I'd highly recommend to jump straight to Android 6.0 marshmallow for general battery + performance improvements (not to mention much improved security).
Android 4 is outdated by a long mile. At least think about stock touchwiz. Your best bet for Android 4 would be the now-defunct CM11 or PAC or even some older versions of CosmicOS (if they exist, haven't looked). Other than that, no way KK ROMs would be in development in 2017.
