Good, I wanted to know who of us continues or has in use the sony xperia play as gadget and main mobile in use, even having spent 6 years since leaving, still doing very well, I hope your comments
I use it for Playing Classic Games while on the go but my Main Phones are the Galaxy A3 (2015) and my A5 (2017)

to me it's nearly impossible to use it as main driver, but i have been until 2015...i have a moto g2 now, i'm just using it as emulator device, it wouldn't keep up with all the apps i use (whatsapp, messenger, banking account, all the ebays-amazon-aliexpress and another couple of online stores, all the booking apps i use for travel, trains timing and tickets, plane timing and tickets, Google maps...) i miss the days when i had to carry only 1 device and had phone and gaming all in 1...now it's just like having to carry a psp, and i can't do it all the time...
I've actually been thinking about going back to mine.
I fired mine up the other day and was shocked that it STILL operates smoothly after all these years. Played some Blood of Calamity on it and... man... the magic has not left!
My Xperia Play became an alarm clock....

And when that broke from dropping it I bought the 78p01
Both fine devices, but the software and support was kind of lacking, and I also dropped the 78p01 in the toilet full of peepee and broke it.
If I wasn't such a spaz, I probably would still be using one of them.
Right now I use the cheapest smartphone I could find, and am saving up for the Moto Z2 and gaming moto mod when they are released.

Hi Dilemina. Long time no see. Nice to see some of the 'oldies' still come here hehe. I really liked the much i5. I felt that it was much better quality that the price would have you believe. I kept mine in a PS Vita case and it was immaculate when I sold it. I tried to buy another a year or so ago but they're really rare now.
I was tempted by the 78P01 but stuck with the XP instead. I was a little put off by the low internal storage. I had a Shield Portable for a while and it only has 12gb usable internal and I filled that in no time. Im on stock rom with doomkernel overclocked to 1.8ghz, debloated, link2sd moving all my apps, including many of the system apps. The phone is still very usable today. A little slow, but definitely still good.
I use a Xiaomi Redmi Pro for my main phone and a GPD XD for android gaming, but for emulation and casual android I still use the XP. PS1 is perfect on it. I use the PSXperia way to convert games and it works really well. And the XP is the only device I can get Asphalt 6 on, which is the best in the series in my opinion.
Cool dude. I haven't played any good games since I broke all of my stuff. But hopefully the moto z and moto gamepad can be a good successor.
Also the 78p01 is cheep now if you buy it from snails official retailer at tmall.com https://world.tmall.com/item/456871...u_properties=5919063:57445706;122216431:27772
And you can use a mini sd card for storage.

I bought my XperiaPlay 6 months back, just because i wanted one badly, from a long time. Recently my BB Q5 got damaged and i had to make XperiaPlay my primary device. It's pretty much good as main phone, apart from the fact that, i can't play games anymore.
Soon i'll get my NOKIA 6 and make Play my gaming device.
Cheers!
I sold all three of mine long ago, and probably gone through 20+ phones since. But now I just bought a Moto Z Play, just for that gamepad mod, which seems like it's going to be $80 and released in very late summer. Pricey, but should be totally worth it, unless they screw up the dpad.
I was thinking about making RedRom for this device too, but i don:t have the phone..
I still run an r800x and have a spare unit already flashed with the custom ROM I spent over a year developing for it sitting in a drawer for when this one dies.
Aside from having to use a swap file to make multi-tab usage in Palemoon feasible I have no issues with it.
i have my hands on xperia play for over two years now and using it as my main phone since after optimizing. it is with stock rom, i use whatsapp, instagram (works without stories which i dont care about btw) and fblite (this version faster hold about 1 mb space and doesn't need messenger you can send and receive messages from the app). i have no major complaints about performance as i have disabled google services. using 64 gb sd card with link2sd i have tons of games, music and books (scientific articles and literature also). it pretty well runs most needed apps for anything if you ask me, i even use as metronome, guitar tab reader, sound recorder and hiit exercise helper and so on...
in my opinion biggest downside of the device that damn flex cable, causes most of the problems. so i stocked about 10 flex cables and a handful of batteries, planning to use this little devil for a long time
so you are all on GB stock? what emulator do you use? have you tried retroarch?
i was using fine until i inserted am empty MICRO SIMCARD SHELL to Normal SIM Size Converter.. when i pulled it out.. it broke my SIM CARD connectors....and after that i was not able to fix my beloved phone ever again.. just lying in my drawer now. any ideaS ?

I have a few questions, as a new user for this phone, aha.
First, how did you go about optimizing your's? Thank you for the heads up about fblite, as well. In regards to Google services, that disables the Play Store and Maps, correct? How would I go about disabling Google Services and use a GPS app still?
Also, unrelated, but what are some of these science articles and books? Sorry for all of the questions, I just like to learn, and I really want to make use of my XP, lol. Thanks. :cyclops:

first of all i use stock rom gb 2.3.4. i rooted the phone and use link2sd to save space on internal memory of the phone. i even deleted some of the software included in the stock rom (there is a debloat thread in xda forum i dont exactly remember, but there you can find which software you can safely remove). it is essential what you dont link (using link2sd) to external sd card as this decides the main perfomance of the phone. i did not link fblite, whatsapp, main messaging and phone apps. these apps make access to sd card so often if you link them, when they all try to acces the sd card you will experience huuugee slowdowns.
This is where google services comes to mind, now here's the thing : you have to link this because it takes a lot of space in internal memory. and when i linked play services my phone was unbelievably slow (may be related to access speed of my sd card i dont know). so i had to freeze (with link2sd) it to gain performance. there are some disadvantages to this but they are all manageable. first google play store works just fine you can download and install apps without problem (buying and in app purchases work fine as well). gps should work fine too, may be mine is faulty but gps of xperia play is not receiving much signal. it is really really bad that i dont even try to use it (not much of a help there sorry). i use maps (stock version not updated as it takes much space) to find addresses without problem. main problem of freezing services is when backing up your data (ie. whatsapp message backup). to overcome this i manually back up my own data after unfreezing services, then i freeze it again.
bonus: whatsapp mentions that we will not be able to use whatsapp after feb 2020 as they will not support android 2.3.7 and earlier. (may be begging for a stable version that will work can be provided we have about 2 years to flood their mails... we need to form an alliance to constantly mail them.) i dont get the reasons actually it is a simple messaging service and we are just texting even old nokias should be able to do that...
regarding to my reading preferences i use google play books,(in my library there are free books like sherlock holmes and purchased books mostly about martial arts), FBreader for epubs, and ezPDF reader for articles on virology which is my profession as i can underline or highlight when i am working. reading performance is quite good with all apps as reading is indispensible part of my job. i mostly read classics like 1984, tale of two cities etc. when i have spare time in the lab. or if i am not in the mood i fight the s..t out in street fighter arcade.

Awesome, thanks a ton! I already have Link2SD and I love it! I'll look into freezing Google Services, especially if Maps works (somewhat, lol). Also, I'm unable to unlock my bootloader, so I'm pretty sure that I cannot change the ROM. Could I debloat it without a new ROM? (I'll search for the thread). I really want to start reading and I like sci-fi stuff, plus I have some epubs on my PC I've never used, lol. It seems like I neveer really focus on reading, even comics, but I want to at least try it sometime. Thank you for all of the information, it is greatly appreciated!
Also, about the emulators, I've been using MyBoy and MyOldBoy for GBA and GBC and they are amazing! I just installed PPSSPP and Persona 3 runs beautifully!

i think i'm hitting my limit here.
not sure if i can last a few more months with this limitation... (keeping fingers crossed for the next best thing that runs on 1700+2100)
i'm using Dropbox (3 GB) to ease the pain
i'm using Fiabee (1 GB) <--- that's nothing, it's like a drop in a bucket
i'm using Subsonic (not very useful, as it still uses local storage to catch the songs)
i'm using mSpot (same as Subsonic, easier to use, no need for server)
I'm using Picasa (but is useless unless you have actual space to take pictures)
I'm also using pixelpipe (yet another media sync that catches stuff locally, which also consumes local space)
the only real solution i see is to be able to plug in an USB flash drive to the SNS, and play my medias from there.
unfortunately that is out of the question at the moment, as no one have been able to get it working yet via USB storage driver
The problem with both dropbox and fiabee is their download rate is not fast enough to make them a viable Streamer
not to mention, you can't even access the files until you have downloaded them, which also makes it pointless as you (me) have no free space left to receive the files anyways
It's not fun (a very tedious task), having to keep uninstalling a bunch of apps/games every time i want to check out another app/game, or deleting a whole bunch MP3s / Videos that you use often, only to have to download them again a few minutes later.
on the SGS the 2 GB space for Apps/Games + MKV, DIVX and other media support on the SGS was like a GOD sent, also the extra microSD support really opened up the phone to all kind of possibilities.
unfortunately the SGS has its own demons as well like dying internal SD, GPS issues, bad file system, etc, etc, just to name a few.
seems like currently i'm stuck between the sword & a rock
......... i'm slowly starting to regret getting the SNS:
- main issue limited space
- unable to natively do Video Call other phones like Nokia, LG, Samsung
- no gorilla glass (already got a deep scratch with a minor drop, the old SGS went through a lot of dips without a single scratch)
the only positive thing i like the SNS:
- 2.3 OS
- the phone actually works without dying internal SD issues
is this a common thing are many people running out of space with the nexus s? i thought there was ample room with this phone with the new internal storage. i'm confused.

looks like you have a lot of media that you use often. That should have been your number one concern when making your phone buying decision. 1gb for apps should be more than enough space but maybe im kidding myself. And if you needed a phone with more storage space for media there were/are plenty of options available. just sounds to me like you didnt do your research beforehand. IJS

Return it before the 30 days and buy yourself a phone with an sdcard slot. There is not much that can be done after it gets full.. hopefully 32gb will be enough

Honestly, mate, I'd suggest returning/sending your Samsung Nexus S back if you still can. I've watched your post history over the last week or so and every other post seems to be a gripe about the Nexus S(like this one) or wishing that you had something from the Galaxy S lineup. Its clear that this phone is not a good fit for you and you should go back to your SGS device, whatever it may be.
I'm not trying to start a flamewar, call you out, or disrespect you or anything. I just think you'd be happier with a Vibrant or what have you. Different strokes for different folks.

I did play with the idea of getting the the SGS vibrant SGH-T959, i might even trade my SGS i9000 for the SGH-T959
Currently i'm toying with the idea of converting the SGS i9000 to use the SGH-T959 radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=908120
in the end if i can find some Software alternative, then perhaps i can go on a few more months longer and switch to the next best phone all together, assuming they will support 1700+2100
"i'm using mSpot (same as Subsonic, easier to use, no need for server)"
hey man,did you update mspot??? recently.
they do stream from server now, without downloading it on your phone.
all my mspot(xept covers/albumart folder) are empty even after playing 30 songs.
When did you sign up for Fiabee? They upgraded my account to 15 GB on new years for being "one of the first to try it" or something like that.

the Nexus S sells for a lot more here locally than on eBay
so i have no problem at all letting it go, but as i posted a few message above
the SNS is the most solid device so far released by Samsung, that being said
i find it very hard to find another phone with SAMOLED display that can beat the SNS, as the Vibrant is not very good else i've swapped the SNS for the SGS in a heart beat.
i still have another SGS here with me, but it's not compatible to 1700+2100

Hello guys
my first android was a Motorola Atrix, then a Atrix 2, now i have the samsung Galaxy S duos, but i saw the Xperia play with friend(for the first time) and i loved play with him.
i want to buy a new one, my Galaxy is more expensive than a Xperia play so i can "change" and doesnt waste nothing, but i want to know if it has problems or i can buy without hesitating.
so it have problems like... my earlyer Atrix have a fingerprint reader but with ICS it have issues...
thanks

Right now it's not a smart choice. Yes, its gamepad it's a gem to play anywhere but its official rom it's outdated and has some limitations about RAM and internal memory.
If you want to sort these limitations you will have to take some time installing a custom rom and tuning the configuration so, imho, if you don't mind about try some custom roms and you can find it cheap then go ahead, otherwise look for a more logical choice.
Since there is absolutely, positively not a single Bluetooth gamepad on this planet with as much software support as Xperia Play has, it's still the best choice for gamers.
There's a lotta better specs out there, but with so little necessitating all that power, their best use is for... well... **** measuring. Xperia Play handles things just fine with what it has regardless of whether it's old or new. Doesn't legally get 4.x.x, but since this is not iOS, we have many app supplements that net us 4.x.x features...and we get that extraordinary stability/software support that was compromised by newer FWs.
Honestly, I don't know the first thing about tweaks, yet my YouTube is constantly blown up with questions about what I do to make my Xperia Play so smooth. All I've ever been doing is running a debloated stock ROM to get iPhone-tier fluidity...and with link2sd, the onboard storage complaint even becomes invalid.
Only thing I wouldn't recommend is using a contract upgrade on a phone that's so low-cost... and that's just 'cause there's more strategic ways to work the system.
The Xperia Play is; however, still a good phone.
Sent from my R800a using xda app-developers app
tbh, if you can put up with a few fps drops here and there on heavy 3d games (e.g. modern combat, wild blood, dark knight rises, gta etc) and also play them at low settings then its a good gaming phone. Yes the hardware is outdated but if you get a custom ROM and then overclock your phone then it should be alright.
Honestly the phone feel fairly smooth using stock or NXT rom. If you use a light rom or debloat it, it feel smooth overall. It only slow down once you install custom ICS or JB roms.
The one thing I miss is can't do is play high bitrates HD movies like newer phones. Also having to stay on GB you get the speed, but miss out ICS features and apps that aren't compatible with GB.

Not to be a **** or anything, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one. The MOGA in my opinion is starting to gain a ton of support from developers and the hardware itself works very well. When you couple this with the MOGA universal IME app, it gains all the capabilities of the ps3 controller. I love my Play, but I will take my GSIII and MOGA over the Play when playing Dead Trigger any day.

I disagree with that. We were sent a couple of MOGA's to use/review with are Xperia S, T and V but find for portable gaming it just does not work as good as you would want.
To start with the connection takes along time to kick in and then disconnects time to time during game play (Normally with Gameloft games). Having the MOGA app always running in the background gives the system more to process which cause's lag in games, they also seam to have a mined of their own (Keep moving in the same direction after you let go and are very inaccurate overall). The controller is not supported as a generic HID device meaning you need a 3rd party app and root to be able to play emulators and Non MOGA support games.
The other issues are to do with the physical form. The weight when the controller holds a phone is unevenly distributed (The phone weights a lot more then the controller meaning its top heavy (Not great for long periods of gaming), that's why there is a lip on the back of the controller to prop it all up. The sticks are stiff with no grip (Easy grip fix, take the foam pads out so they cup round your finger) and are useless for any FPS (Try out online multiplayer MC4, Nova 3). The lack of buttons (No d-pad, No L2, R2) and plus the fact you need AAA battery's to power it (Not ideal).
I could go on and on but Moga is no competition for the Xperia Play (purpose built for gaming, not an add-on) . If on public transport and want to play a quick game, its much better to slide the play open and play compared to getting the MOGA out of your bag or pocket, turn on bluetooth, clip in phone, wait for moga to connect to device and so on.
The list of games are on the increase but still only around 40 compared to the 400 on the Xperia Play. Its a novel way to play games at the moment and that's why some game developers are supporting it. But cant see this being a long time thing.
IMO ps3 pad with gameklip is the best setup maybe not so portable but for actually gaming its better than the xperia play

Wow, I honestly think that you both got a bad unit and haven't spent much time with it since launch.
First of all, in regards to the game selection, its true if you only use the company provided Pivot app, it only supports around 50 games. But what you are forgetting/ignoring is the MOGA universal driver app that makes it work as a standard HID controller just like the ps3 that allows it to play ANY game that works with HID contollers plus act as an ime that can emulate PLAY controls. There is not a single Play game that I cannot play without controls on my SGS III. Not a single one. This includes emulators. I can even use gamekeyboard if I wanted. I like my play too, but you are just ignoring the facts here.
Second, the connection honestly takes around 2-3 seconds for me and I have NEVER had a disconnect, not once. I have run quadrant with the pivot app and without and have seen no noticable difference, and it is the same with gameplay. I have one of the heaviest devices available and it does not seem top heavy at all. I think the comment people make about the sticks being stick is due to the fact that it is a smaller controller than normal so of course the sticks would have less travel area, it is just a matter of getting used to it just like it was with the Play touchpads. I have played several FPS's with the pad, MC4, Dead Trigger, Shadowgun, ETC, and have actually been impressed at the sensitivity and ease of use.
The argument that it is a pain to carry around is I think a weak one as it easily fits into any coat pocket and is smaller than some android phones Ive owned. I have used it daily for weeks now.
Again, I can play every Play game out there, so I feel like I my gaming experience just got way better. I also got a laugh of you calling it a novelty that wont catch on, thats what they said about the Play too.
Anyways, just a few thoughts, no offense meant my friend.

I actually got my father a MOGA to go along with the EVO 3D I got him... and I'd actually even agree that it's support is far above and beyond the rest of those BT controllers... and I hope to see it get even more support because I'll likely get one for myself come January when my upgrade is available... but at the time being, not even the universal IME app brings it anywhere near being even a fourth of what the Xperia Play is.
From personal experience, I can vouch for the statement that it does greatly expand what it can be done outside of the pivot app, but it doesn't have all the specialized support Xperia Play has from having hardware menu navigation and all the precision of games tweaked to work especially with it's hardware, which results in cases like a *generic-converted* Eternal Legacy requiring an incredibly awkward form of still having to mostly use the touch-screen. While I didn't particularly find it as uncomfortable as poo-tang, the clip didn't really seem like it was designed to accomodate any kind of phone that has decent protection... meaning that my father was put in an awkward position where he'd either lose the convenience of his MOGA clip, or lose the protection of his EVO's ballistic case... this is particularly frustrating because I can use all the high-end protection that I want without sacrificing. Then the actual pivot app itself and the games involved don't seem entirely foolproof without all the tweaking options Xperia Play's given... NOVA 3, for example, has more natural feeling aiming... and all that aside, it's missing a major method of locomotion control by lacking that d-pad (which is a huge deal for precise input in 2D games). On a lesser note, I was quite shocked to find that it uses AAA batteries as opposed to having a rechargeable lithium like iControlPad does.
I do like the MOGA a lot more than other solutions because - honestly - even with all the minuses, there's still no other option on the market that allows well-done controls outside of just emulating tons of old content. Any cheap piece of plastic can emulate nowadays but the Xperia Play brought something truly special where we could play present-gen games like Wild Blood with physical controls, and the MOGA's actually picking up a lot of support for that audience with striking momentum. For that I give the MOGA credit above the iControlPad, Gametel, 60Beat, Red Samurai, Nyko Playpad and all others... but it's got a looooooong way to go before it's up there with Xperia Play... and with the ever-lasting hardware limitation (plus the burden of pairing per every game session), it may not even be possible that the MOGA can ever be up there with Xperia Play.
I will definitely agree that the lack of a true dpad is a disadvantage. There is a larger edition coming out later that has one built in, but its bigger which is both good and bad, but at least theres a choice I guess.
One thing that has actually made it not bad at all for me is the analog stick is very sensitive so as soon as there is any movement at all to either the left or right axis it registers immediately, something Metal Slug on my phone can attest to. I am not just saying this, platformers have not been an issue at all. What kind of case does your father use? I am using the shell/holster combo case and have not had it have problems.
I have never been a fan of shooters on the play, touch pad was always a frustrating experience at best and a nightmare at worse, at least for fps's. Twin Stick shooter kick ass on the play.
You mention a "everlasting hardware limitation" could you elaborate? Wouldn't the same apply to any game console, even the play? In other words, you can't upgrade hardware with an ota, which I know you know Im just illustrating my point.
Pushing the power button and then opening the pivot/universal ime app is a bit less seamless than sliding out the gamepad but I don't think it takes away from the experience. I have the whole process down to about 5 seconds before I pick my game.
Hey guys, I have seen many posts of people asking why should they buy a TF300T, what is good and what isn't, so I decided to create this post to share my personal experience with this device.
I bought this tablet back in July 2012. At the moment I had some money saved, waiting for something I like to pop up and to be able to buy it.
I've always been a kind of "techy" person. I have a desktop computer that I built myself piece by piece running Windows and Ubuntu (my favorite OS). I'm also familiar with various programming languages, on both OS's. At the moment, the only Android device I had (and the very first one) was a Sony Ericsson Xperia x10 Mini, all unlocked and running Gingerbread and full speed (I just loved flashing ROM and tweaking my little baby to the top). At the time I though tablets were kind of useless... After all, they are just extra-big Android phones that people just use to show off and which only purpose was to play silly games and visit Facebook, having to pay an exuberant amount of money just to buy them.
I was aware of the existence of Transformers - I liked them from the first moment
I set eyes on a video-presentation - but they were just too expensive.
One day I was surfing on an online shop and I found TF300T. I couldn't believe what I was sawing. A quad-core Transformer, 32GB of internal memory, 1GB of RAM, Ice Cream Sandwich, and 500€... Dock included. It was cheaper than an iPad 2, and had a dock with an extra battery and USB port. Not to mention SD-card's and HDMI. Some days later watching reviews and thinking about playing with ROMs, Java and HTML made me decide: I was going to buy a Transformer!

The first impressions
The first time I used this tablet was magical. Everything worked as expected - it was fast, and the dock was just like I expected it to be. The tablet just felt good in my hands. The rear camera is amazing, at least in my opinion: great image quality. The screen has amazing colors and is really snappy (although it is kind of a fingerprint magnet).
Although it was good, there were some problems with it: browsing was extremely slow (in the beginning I didn't noticed this much because it was my first time with a tablet) and apps kept force closing, which was kind of annoying. Well, nothing that couldn't be solved with an custom ROM: but that would have to wait some time. There was also the problem with I/O. Transferring files with the cable was a pain in the ass: the only way I was able to transfer files to the device with efficiency was using Airdroid.
ASUS, the mighty ASUS
One of the things that I really liked (and was surprised by) was how ASUS handled its devices. Let's start with the software on the tablet. On my x10 Mini, Sony putted a lot of crappy software on it, that had nothing that other apps on Market couldn't do, filled the device internal storage/RAM and that were just annoying. They didn't even included a file manager, one of the basic things all devices should have! But that's not what happens on my TF300T - not at all. The tablet came with a super-useful-and-user-friendly-and-awesome file manager (that I use until now), a complete Office suite, an app for taking notes (one of my favorite from ASUS apps) Supernote, and app for backups, for locking other apps so nobody could open them without a password, Splashtop (watch me using Office and playing games on my tab), an amazing swipe-able keyboard with a super-friendly layout, among others. And the wallpapers! One that changes according with the time and weather, another with the battery juice, and one for slide-showing all your photos.
And now, the support. ASUS is the best regarding software updates: we were the first tablet having JellyBean, not to mention regular updates. And unlike Sony, ASUS seems to care about its older devices. Also, ASUS releases the source code of their ROMS: a developer dream.
ASUS also released their own tool to unlock their devices, making the task really easy. And, besides all their warnings about warranty, they still honor it if its proven not to be our fault to damage the device.
Unlocking, installing custom ROM's, Developers, Kernels
After a couple of months using the tab without any hardware problems, I decided to unlock. I read in the forums about some people that weren't able to unlock it, but everything went smooth. Reading instructions on the forum with extreme care, I was able to install TWRP in minutes and get a new ROM installed.I couldn't believe how fast my tablet became. Using CleanROM / Hydro / CM9/10 without a custom kernel proved to be like a miracle to the tablet. I can't explain how much has changed, you can only tell by using it before and after. It was a HUGE difference.
A few days ago, I decided to try a new kernel. I read a lot about untermensch's kernel and decided to go for it. The tablet just went from perfect to heaven-like. I can now reproduce 1080p movies WITHOUT ANY GLITCH AT ALL! It's just so amazing!
This tablet also has a big level of development, New (and good) ROMs keep appearing, along with mods and kernels to make our tab even better, if possible. This makes me really happy about this device. Of course, if you have the 3G version of the tablet, you probably won't be so happy. The development for it is almost nonexistent.
Camera
The 8MP rear camera of the tablet is awesome. It has a great image quality. But what really make me love it was the fact that it takes pictures so fast and is able to capture perfectly "things moving". Bellow you have a photo I took on a cyclist competition. I also would like to advert you to not go and take pictures with this beats at a public event like I did if you don't to end up with lots of people staring at you.
The video recording is astonishing. It records at 1080p and has perfect image quality.
Games
I'm not so much of a gamer, but all the games I tried to play with it ran smoothly and fine. Of course I don't play "hardcore" games, I prefer to stick with Cut The Rope, Angry Birds, Granny Smith and so on.
Once I installed GTA Vice City just to test it out and the game ran pretty well. The dock helped a lot when playing (specially for cheats )
Battery
Having a second battery on the dock, and being big, this tablet has a huge battery capacity, and can stay turned on for days with average use. Here's a print of my battery usage stats using CM10.
Final thoughts
If I didn't buy a tablet and was to buy one now, I would definitely buy this tablet again. It can do anything and even more. In the beginning, when I though that a tablet was useless, I was SO wrong. I ended up downloading torrents, playing lots of games, browsing every website, taking notes and lots of photos, even office stuff like spreadsheets. I pretty much do ANYTHING with it. It's so portable (because of its battery), flexible thanks to the dock and it's software and so stable. I take it everywhere I go (even to the bathroom - that's one of the things this tablet to best - take the place of a newspaper  ).
That's all I have to say about my tablet. I hope I helped you decide if you should or not get one TF300T. I'll keep updating this post with thinks I did with my tablet and maybe some hints. I would also like to thank all the developers that helped making this tablet such a marvelous device. Sea!

I figured since there is finally a place to post this, I will do so here. There is currently ongoing development for the Motorola MotoACTV smart watch. It began simply as a fitness watch, but has evolved with root, recovery, and roms into the best android watch available.
AND IT CAME OUT IN NOVEMBER OF 2011.
Interesting, yes? Let me get you some details from our current wiki (http://motoactv.wikispaces.com/home, started from the members right here on xda):

IF YOU DIDN'T LISTEN AND ARE NOW "LOW BATTERY" AND CANNOT FLASH:
First thing's first. It will probably still charge on the wall charger or a car charger. Try that first. But, if it won't...
(or if you're just an avid flasher,) I'd also recommend you get one of these to help you out of jams: Motorola Factory Cable. The one at that link from Team Black Hat is typically out of stock, but a search of the words "Motorola Factory Fastboot Cable" on eBay can get you one for between $5-8. This cable does not charge your unit and does not come with the MotoACTV.
Any questions? Please post below. And GET YOUR ACTV ON!

Also, I will be updating the first post of this thread with any info/links that you guys need. We would love for more development of this device, since we've been doing it for months/years now.
Wow this seems great! Youtube and a browser. I recently bought myself the Sony Smart Watch, and I was not too impressed with the battery life time, how is this ones?
I also managed to ruin my SmartWatch, but I'm gonna get it refunded from the store I'll probably get this from eBay! Is there any bugs/problems I should know about from the Motorola watch?
I get mine tomorrow, and my only concern/question is how well this handles Bluetooth tethering. I use FoxFi and PDAnet with phone and tablet and i'm hoping I can use the same with the motoactv.

Not really. Battery life for me is around a week, sometimes more if I turn it off at night. I don't leave bluetooth or wifi on unless I need them though, and keep the brightness around half. I also turned off the shake-to-wake feature, as my watch was turning on when I was just walking around and using up battery life with the screen on lol.
But, for such a tiny battery, a week is pretty good in my opinion. Either way, you can just charge it every night if you're a heavy user. Keep in mind, this isn't like those other "smart watches" that only issue notifications, this is a full blown android device.

I know Nook Tether works on it for bluetooth tethering (internet pass through) I believe, but I'm not sure about the others. I've heard of PDAnet also, it might have been another that worked. I don't tether mine though, so I'm not sure.
The only thing I want different is the watch strap, and an XDA user is actually working on a better one right now. I can't wait!

Is there a way to keep the display on to use as a watch, without pushing a button? How much space does the OS use? Is Ebay prefer over Amazon for purchase?

It has shake to wake, where you shake your wrist and the display turns on. The os doesn't use much, maybe 200mb or something. I've got the 8 gig version and have plenty of space, even with roms. However, the space for installing apps is limited for the time being. I'm not sure, but there might be a way to partition the space on the device to get more app space.

I was unaware of the shake to awaken. I will go for the 8 Gb unit when I get the funds. More reading needs to be done to see which ROM may be the best for me. How hard is it for someone to generate a customized ROM without extensive training?

Cool! Let us know what you think! Of course, the one you see won't be rooted or have a regular android launcher on it yet.
I have decided to buy one, preferably at less than ~$250. I would prefer new versus used since they are discontinued and i am uncertain about warrantee. Maybe i can afford to order one next week. No doubt I will have questions, if rooting does not go smoothly.

Yeah I have to agree here. I have had mine for well over a month and although a few games have popped up, I haven't seen any new apps. At this rate I am not confident the NP is going to be very successful (once again) for Google + TV.
Disappointed...
I'm definitely let down by Google with the nexus player.. I was so excited by the thought of Android TV, and heard so much about how awesome it was going to be.. So I told everyone that was all I wanted for Christmas. Well I got it, sadly its almost useless. No chrome web browser, none of the apps & games I have purchased are on it other than tuneinradio... Plex the main reason I bought it requires plex pass.. (even though I've already bought the stand alone app on 2 different accounts..) And emulators... none listed & only a few that can be sideloaded. WTF?!?! Google you could have the best device to take over the living room if you didn't fumble it so badly. The voice search does NOT search though all my media... It can't even tell the weather.. (Amazon's new speaker is doing search better..) I really hope they start doing more with this otherwise I just wasted $ on another dud. Kind of a huge disappointment & definitely not what I would have wanted for Christmas had I known how crippled it is.

I feel you. I just opened mine today. It's worthless. I'm probably going to send it back and eat the $20 in shipping and whatever it is to send it back. And return the bluetooth controller I got from gamestop. I was prob as excited as you. I can't even cast with the apps I was using for my chromecast. So now my ultraviolet library is useless. I might call the Google Support team just to call and *****. I'd love to hear what they have to say.
Sideload for now, or download them to your NP through play store web site
That's where I'm at, to make this useful I'm going to need to root and put a regular lollipop and launcher on here.
Yea people ask me all the time if it;s worth buying and until I see more apps, I can't justify it.
Also, noticed the only app missing from the keynote was showtime anytime. Wonder why it got cut before release?

I have NP for few weeks and yes, not zillion apps in store but i think it will get better, but it does exactly why I have bought it. I wanted replacement for my old media player, so xbmc/kodi do same or even better work playing stuff from my NAS, it has youtube and netflix I wanted and some games I can enjoy (leo's fortune or bards tale are great). Also not a problem with my PS3 controller with sixaxis so I dont need original gamepad..and stickmount/foldermount plus usb hub, wireless keyboard and 32gb flash drive do the rest I think we just have to be patient to get more content in store
in chromecast we had to expect several months for the apps arrival, and now there are tons of apps for chromecast..
i imagine the same is going to happen to nexus player.
at the beggining chromecast was only for netflix, vevo, youtube.
You know it will receive updates, and large community support. I see no reason to return it, just so you can want it again later.
Get ES File Explorer, Kodi, and call it a day for now. I'm enjoying mine, and it will soon do much more after I get our cable reactivated.

I also just got for Christmas and love it. I have Plex Pass already and that is what I wanted it for the most. Now I have 1 system for Netflix and Plex.
I use X-plore file manager on my phone so I just went to the Web Store and added it to the NP that way. Now NP has access to Box, Dropbox, Google Drive and a wifi server. Copy the app I want to the NP any of these ways and click to install, Bob's your uncle.
Sixacess for my PS3 controller through wifi, done. Modern Combat 5, through wifi, done.
I admit, I have too been a little disappointed with the lack of new apps showing up. However it hasn't been a huge deal to me. What has been annoying though is the few apps that work with the Chromecast yet don't with the Nexus Player even though Google Cast is supposed to be universal and apps should be able to cast to either device. Reality has been far from this case.
It is a bit disappointing that it seems that Google is not putting an effort into supporting this thing. I don't know if this is Google themselves or just that developers have no interest in updating their apps for ATV. But the way I look at it, I've sideloaded most of the apps I really need from this thing. It runs Netflix, Pandora, and Plex. I have XBMC loaded and can get pretty much all the content I want through plugins and live TV. I have Limelight so I can play my PC games in my living room., and Retroarch to play all my classic roms. This thing already does a ton more than my Roku 3 or Apple TV which cost the same, so for the price I am totally happy with it. I think the most disappointing thing about it is that we know it's capable of so much more but have yet to see it from Google.
There is a lot of games that get ported to Nexus Player but never get shown in the interface. I've released my BRIK eXtreme for example, it was accepted, but never showed up anywhere but it is installable from Google Play and works if you use the web interface. I thought the OS will be updated to show all compatible apps in time but now it looks as if Google decided to abandon Android TV or something since nothing is happening.
Also devices with Android TV from other companies should be available - but for now, nothing.
Based on the news I've been reading from CES about how many hardware vendors are going to be releasing products with Android TV, I'm hopeful that we'll start seeing an upswing in the apps and games that are available soon.
As far as I know, the NP is the only Android TV device available, making us early adopters. I personally had the expectation that it would be a good investment as long as it had an official Netflix app, could run XBMC/Kodi AND most important that it had a remote that was well integrated enough for it to be simple for family to use. It already does all of those things AND freed up my Chromecast to be used on my other TV.
the only device for now but that device from Razer got announced and is looking pretty good. Just a matter of time before Google updates it, hopefully at that point it will be more real time updates.

This..
I've been running SPMC (which is basically XBMC for the NP) and it plays all my movies in both MKV, and video_ts folders without a hitch.. This thing has pretty much replaced my HTPC.. Then again, my sole reason for getting this was to do the above, and play Netflix and Google content..
I'm not sure if you guys are giving up to easily, or just not searching for apps. Not all apps available for the NP show up immediately when you open the store screen.
For instance to get the app that works with my HDHomeRun Prime, I had to open the store, hit the voice search button, and ask for HDHomeRun, and there it was.
There's still not a huge selection, but there's more than you see when you open the store.

That's interesting. I hadn't considered using the voice search, I just assumed the list in the Play Store was all that is available. Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Yep as Elemino mentioned the apps shown when you go into the Play Store are not all the apps that are available but rather highlights or featured apps.
