WiFi sharing on Nexus 6P - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! I want to share my Nexus 6P's WiFi connection with other people over WiFi, but when I enable WiFi Hotspot it automatically disables WiFi. Is there any way around this? It works on the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge but not on my Nexus 6P. My Nexus is rooted and I've tried fqrouter2 but it just says "Failed to start wifi repeater: wifi chipset [WARNING: linker: Warning: unable to normalize "null"] is not supported". Is there something in the build.prob or any software that could do this? A diagram of one use case:
Hotel WiFi, allows just one connection - My phone < Laptop, other phone.

Bluetooth to smartphone for Data

Anyone know if we'll be able to connect the Nexus 7 to our phones like a Galaxy Nexus through Bluetooth for data something Akin to iPhone to iPad? WiFi HotSpot is a huge battery killer.
I would say yes. When I get N7 I'll check it out.
Wi-fi direct should work for file transfers
BT tethering works no problem.

[Q] Wifi Hotspot

Has anyone tried connecting the nexus 4 as a wifi hotspot? My phone can load webpages like google, facebook, XDA really fast. But when I have my laptop connected through portable hotspot I can't even get google.com to open up. Sometimes it does but very very slowly, is this normal for wifi hotspots or is it just something with my connection settings?
My Wi-Fi Hotspot from Nexus 4 works perfectly when I connect my Nexus 7, Playbook, and Galaxy Nexus.
WiFi hot spot worked for me also
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Hmm i tried it with my playbook too, it works but same issue its much slower then what the phone can accomplish!
It's normal for it to be slower (just consider that all requests need to be routed from your laptop, to your phone via WiFi, then to the cell service) but it certainly should be working without issue. Are you using the built-in WiFi hotspot feature? And what carrier?

[Q] Nexus 4 -- NFC not using Wifi direct

I have tried NFC to another nexus 4 device, but the issue is that it always uses Bluetooth as a default option for transfer.
Is there a way to change it to Wifi Direct??
I was wondering the same thing. NFC only uses bluetooth. Was trying to use file xpert hd and send files with wifi direct, didn't work. Any ideas anyone?
I have even tried using super beam app.
the connection times out when it is trying to enable the wifi direct. The app too words only with wifi hotspot option.

Nexus 6P Hotspot (Wi-Fi Tether)?

I'm currently on stock Rom on the Nexus 6P Android 6.0.1 (Sprint) and everytime I try the hotspot within android settings I receive an error message.
Is there any way to get Wi-Fi Tethering (Hotspot) working on the Nexus 6p?
Edit: I believe I have found a way to hotspot on Sprint. So far I have been tethering with no issues and did not have to edit any build.prop. You do need root, that's the only prerequisite.
I used the app Wifi Tether Router from Google Play.
I also used these settings:
"For Google Nexus Devices using this config
Interface wlan0
Method 0 - Auto
Channel 1
Encryption wpa2-psk
"No Firmware Reload" <- UNCHECKED "
How would this work on T-mobile? Tethering isnt blocked for us but it is really slow

Wifi Repeater / Extender (Mobile Hopspot using Wifi, Not Data)

I am trying to repurpose my old Nexus 6P. I have been having trouble grabbing wifi signals and want to use my old Nexus as Wifi Repeater / Extender since it picks up networks better ( Mobile Hotspot using Wifi instead of Mobile Data ). I'm aware that not every device can do this but I figure since my Galaxy S7 is able to do this, The Nexus 6P is just as high tech to be able to do it also.
I've read about the FQRouter2 app but that seems to be a dead end at this point in time. Anyone have any helpful links or information on how I could achieve this via application or Rom specifically?
