A2017G Audio Bug in every ROM - lowest ringtone very loud - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hey guys, I don't have a clue what went wrong.
for me the lowest alarm, ringtone and notification sounds are way to loud. its like almost full volume...lowest ringtone setting is as loud as 80% of media volume. Media volume is very silent at the lowest setting as I like.
I unlocked bootloader and then pushed TWRP 3.1.1.0 to my device.
format data, wipe system, data, cache and dalvik, factory reset
After that I flashed the following files:
1. flash universal nougat bootloader
2. flash a2017g_n_modem
3. flash rom
4. flash gapps aroma
is this correct?
I tried lineageos official, ResurrectionRom official and unofficial, xenon hd.... Everytime the same bug.
Please help me

Anyone?

I would agree. Compared with my other phones also running LineageOS), notifications on the lowest volume level are still way too loud. I did have a search for this but didn't find anything about it being considered a problem (but I only searched key words and didn't read all 100+ pages). If there were a way to make the lowest notification volume lower, it would be fantastic.
Edited to add: Just tested side by side. Moto X Pure vs Axon 7: both running LineageOS from 22 May. Volume level set to 14% on both (lowest before going to vibrate only more). Playing the same ring tone (same sound file). S4 running a sound meter app.
Moto X: 29dB
Axon 7: 45dB
To get a similar profile on the sound meter app for notification levels, I need to raise the Moto X up to about 70% volume to compare with the readings from the Axon on 14%.

have you tried flashing the stereo fix? it should supposedly be already merged in LOS, but why not...

worth trying i guess
as a workaround for the ringtone I guess you could get the sound file and lower its volume

Calls are unbelievable loud with JFv1.5

Hi
I flashed my G1 with the lucidREM Mod of JFv1.5 and since then calls are unbelievable loud. The volume is as low as it can be for calls and I have to hold it about 2cm away from the ear, as the speaker is still so loud anyone in the room can hear what the person is telling me on the phone.
Is there a way to lower the volume besides the + - buttons?
Thanks in advance

Sounds like it may be in speakerphone mode. Start a call, open the menu, and switch it back to normal.
No, the speaker on the back is off. The small one you hold onto your ear is that loud!
I've recently updated to JFv1.5 as well and I'm not having any issues with volume. Admittedly the sound volume is louder for voice and media but when the volume is set to it's lowest levels it's a normal volume for phone calls; definitely not ear-splitting or anything.
Maybe you're hearing has improved dramatically overnight; been bit by a genetically-modified spider lately?
Hmmm... spiderbite, that would explain this huge red and hurting bitewound... i don't know. Unless I find this spider I would say it's the phone, not my ear
I'm running JF 1.5 ADP and in-call volume does not actually adjust here either - even though it shows it adjusting on the screen, the actual volume remains the same.
THAT sounds more like an explanation. Any solution?

I'd like to know myself. A friend with JFv1.5 says his in-call volume control is functioning properly. So what did we do wrong?
I am also experiencing the same problems.
Updated the radio, updated to JF's1.5, had to do an erase and all seems fine, just having this problem of volume in-call.
I can confirm its not in speaker mode and volume doesn't seem to change at all.
Help!
Hey all,
I swear when I first rooted and installed JF1.5 I had followed the directions and completed the step to update my radio to 2.22.19.29I - but I just double checked my baseband and it wasn't right - I reinstalled the radio update from http://android-roms.googlecode.com/files/ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip - and now the volume works.
Go to Settings > About Phone > Baseband
Make sure it says 2.22.19.26I
If it doesn't, update your radio again.
Make sure it says 2.22.19.29I
I think you mean 2.22.19.26I
I'm also having this problem on the dude's cupcake - really just in general over all phone firmwares, stock and modded. The call volume is on the loud side - but tolderable - on the lowest setting but UNBELIEVABLY LOUD in headphones on the same setting. My god, my friend said "Hey!" and i instinctually ripped off the headphones and threw them on the floor because of the volume. It really p*ssed me off. This is a phone for f*ck's sake. This is it's primary function. Get it right.
also, the media volume is not loud enough on it's loudest setting.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, the volume rocker worked just fine. I my options ranged from unbelievably loud all the way up to "hear it in the next room" loud.
Did you folks who have loud volume wipe (alt+w in recovery) when installing JFv1.5? What applications did you install? What other hacks (a2sd, htc components) have you installed?

yes, wiped in recovery (when installing the dude's build, that is).
Apps:
Marcus' Appstosd 2
SETcpu
GPS Status 2
PDF Viewer (standard with the dude's build)
Advanced Task Manager
WiFi Tether for Root Users
Toggle Settings (cupcake)
and other rinky dink little apps like Astrid and OI shopping and Labrynth and stuff like that
Other Hacks:
The Dude's default theme/template (i didn't dig the default Manup theme...too blue for me - although the transparent notification background was really cool)
HTC Components:
latest radio update 2.22.19.26I

Have you tried wiping and installing a completely bone stock JFv1.5 (no a2sd or anything else) and then checking call volume?
Flashed the radio update, since it wasn't on the phone.
Still doesn't work.
PS: Using the lucid modded version. But even with everything on the phone it wont change the call volume.
Have you tried re-flashing the ROM?? .. I had an issue before and just re-flashed the ROM and worked great!

a while ago, but to sum up:
installed radio 2.22.19.26I from htc webpage.
wiped
installed jf 1.5
very loud, even if volume control shows minimum.

[Q] Any way to get my speaker volume back?

So, I just updated from GB (Royal Ginger) to JB (albinoman887's CM 10.1 JB 4.2.2 KANG) and I've lost about 1/3 of my speaker's volume. I can barely hear the phone ringing unless it very close and the speaker is facing upward. I have, of course, turned my ringer volume to maximum.
I have seen kernels labeled as "Volume Boosted" and I was wondering: is switching kernels (I used the included kernel for both ROMs) the reason for my loss in maximum volume? Is there anything I can do about it?
I understand that JB on my MT4G is already more than one could ask for,;but if there is a simple solution, I'm all ears.

Yes. I can't get the equalizer to affect anything besides media player applications (like Apollo). It was my understanding that DSP Manager was designed this way.
To be clear, I've tested DSP manager's equalizer and it's working with Apollo. It's not working with ringtones, speakerphone, nor most games/apps.
Uhh... You could try downloading AwesomeBeats v5. I think that affects the whole system.
And when I have enough time I'll actually get you something to boost your volume but I dont have time right now

[Q] SM-T330NU sound problem?

So I've had this tablet for about a couple of months, and the sound was fairly loud. However, after I decided to factory reset the device, the sound became considerably quieter. I tried listening to some music but it was barely audible. This is also happening with touch sounds, notification sounds, etc. I have to put my ear right next to the speaker in order for me to hear the sounds. Is there a possible fix for this problem?
s,
hi, did you expand volume panel to check all volume sliders?
click the setting icon, you have three sliders
notifications, media and system
alternately, plug in ear phones then unplug, that works sometimes.
I had slightly opposite problem after a factory reset on this tab, the sound was too loud, crackling speakers.

I checked all volume sliders and they are all at maximum volume. I tried the earphone thing, but it didn't work. Is there anything else that I could try?

s,
The only thing left i can think of is in running factory reset you broke maybe a scipted/configuration between
kernel and module, or something written back into /data after reset is carrying the wrong setting, [configuration file]
Look at accessibility section in settings for a sound boost option, you may need to use samsung services to download/deploy
additional accessibility applications. Install a custom recovery and make a backup of your system as it is before you do anything else.
Make a backup to external card as well. There are a few repacked stock roms for flashing via recovery, try one of them out.

Too loud minimum volume in headphones.

Hello.
I have a problem with oneplus two.
The minimum level of volume in the headphones is too loud (very).
I have root + xposeed not afraid to change system files (if they are safe), but I would not want to play in changing kernels, etc.
Any suggestions?

Do you have the audio effects turned on? If so, try turning them off, you'll see that the volume will immediately drop significantly.

when I turned on the audio effects for music it is VERY too loud, when it is turned off is just too loud
Anyone else have any idea?
up
Gravity Box [LP] from xposed
Media Tweaks > More music volume steps
You can add up to a total of 50 steps, allowing for lower volumes.

I use already 50 steps but it does not change the minimum and maximum values only those in between.
So it is still too loud

This is not true...
The minimum volumes are:
Stock - %6.6 (repeating) of the Max
50 steps - %2 of the Max
Though if it is still too loud or not for you is a different story.

I have no reason to disbelieve you
But the problem still is.
No worries... If the above isn't satisfactory, this option should solve your issue, but.... will have to change kernels.
If you are running OOS 2.2.0:
Flash boeffla kernel beta 19:
Here
Install the boeffla config app:
Here
Open boeffla config app
Grant root access
Goto Boeffla-sound tab
Turn on switch
Slide the volume sliders until acceptable
————————————————————————————————
Other than that...
I read of an app that is in the app store that may also be able to solve your issue called Fine Volume Control v2. It's not free and I can't confirm that it will do what you need.

In-call volume very low / quiet

Not sure if this is a ROM bug or just a general problem with the Pro 3 X720 but I find in-call volume is very quiet. Even with the volume on max, calls are often difficult to hear. (I'm running latest OmniRom)
Any ideas?
Thanks.

While in-call, switch to speakerphone, then turn it off (the speakerphone). It'll be much better now, the adjustment of in call volumr will work. It keeps on working until you reboot the phone.

I tried that (having seen this suggestion on a previous thread) but it didn't help. Calls are still really quiet.
EDIT: duplicate reply
Probably an issue with your ROM, on stock the volume is plenty when full, way louder than my ex Samsung Note...
The max volume is loud enough for me.
On the other hand, the min volume is still too loud for me when I'm using the USB Type C stereo headset provided by Le Eco.
Any idea on how to dial down the volume further ?
