Hello. I was in the boot menu whilst using my Samsung Galaxy S8 (I was just looking around) and entered the bootloader.
I see a blue screen with a down arrow which says "Downloading... Do not turn off target"
The phone will not receive any input and I cannot turn it off.
I have tried to use fastboot reboot to reboot the device, but the device isn't being detected (In the device manager it says "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Failed)").
I'm sure if the device dies it will boot properly, however I would not like to wait that long. Any help would be helpful, thanks.
just long press the power button (for 15 seconds or so). It will restart.
I have tried this already, a restart has not happened. To make sure, I tried it again and timed it for 25 seconds, the device did not power down.
Try holding both power and volume down.
That worked, thanks.
I've never had a device which required that combination. Perhaps I should have tried it first before posting, regardless, you have been a big help.

Hi Guys!
I'm new to XDA developers, but I've been following this forum for many years.
I would like to resurrect my old phone, a Samsung Galaxy S4 Value Edition (GT-I9515), witch is most likely bricked.
About one year ago, the device started to randomly reboot, until it no longer powered on (It was NOT rooted or modded).
Recovery also did not work, so I decided to flash the stock firmware with Odin. The flash failed, so i decided to follow a (really stupid ) guide that said that to solve it was necessary to flash a PIT file of the Samsung GT-I9505, so I tried it.
Since then, I'm not able to boot the phone anymore.
What can I do with the phone now? What have I tried? I'll try to be as clear as possible:
Recovery mode:
I can boot into recovery only by pressing VOL UP + POWER with phone connected to charger, and then inserting battery keeping pressed the buttons, but when I try to boot into Recovery Mode, 3 different things can happen:
It does not power on
It vibrates, then reboot and freeze in Samsung GT-I9515 logo
It vibrates randomly and then open successfully the stock recovery
Download mode:
I can boot into download only by pressing VOL DOWN + POWER with phone connected to charger, and then inserting battery keeping pressed the buttons, but when I try to boot into Download Mode, it seems that the screen freeze at a certain point while loading the recovery mode warning (this warning loads slowly, like a slide from top to bottom). The device rarely fully load the warning, and when it does, when I press the VOL UP key to confirm entering download mode (sometimes it does not respond to VOL UP click for confirmation and i must reboot) Odin is able to find the device but during a flash the Odin log stop at Setup Connection, so the device is not responding.
Normal boot:
Yesterday, after hundreds of attempts, I was able to start the phone normally (I don't know how) , it asked for the initial configuration and language, but when I turned it off, the problem reappeared and I was not able to boot it normally. In most cases, the device freezes in Samsung GT-I9515 logo, it continues to restart or simply does not vibrate or power on.
When charging, I don't see anything such as the charging battery icon or the LED.
I realize that I was wrong to flash that PIT file, but is there anything I can do to make this device work properly?
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Noone?
Today, I was using my phone, and then it starting running really slow, so I decided to restart it. I powered it off like normal, but then when I went to try to turn it on, nothing happened. So I decided to plug it up, and that's when a screen came up saying the following message in red text on a black background:
Bootloader exception
[ AST_STAT = 0x10000 ]
Exception: do_handler_sync: DABT_EL1(esr: 0x96000010)
pc : 0x8f026210 lr : 0x8f0261cc sp : 0x8f117f60
I've tried looking up other solutions such as holding down power+home+Vol-up, and it does nothing. Holding down power button does nothing either.
Whenever I plug up my phone to my computer, it shows up as "SAMSUNG Mobile USB CDC Composite Device" in the device manager, but it doesn't show up as a drive like it normally would when I plug it into my computer.
My phone was also on android version 7.0 using the stock samsung ROM. I have never tried to root the phone either, so that shouldn't be an issue in this situation.
Does anybody know what I could do to try to fix this issue?
I would use Odin to flash a new bootloader or just a new ROM, but the problem is, I can't find any way to reboot the phone to boot it into download mode.
Haven't tried this since the s3, but maybe it'll work.
Search on here for Galaxy S7 USB jig

Hold power + volume down + home for 15 seconds. It's supposed to shut off from there and attempt to boot up, but if it's still getting stuck on that screen there may be a major hardware issue. USG jig wont work on S6 and S7 already tried before.
You can hold the combinations for longer until the phone reboots multiple times and you see the light blue screen prompting for confirmation to boot download (ODIN) mode.

The buttons seem to be unresponsive. No matter what combination I press, or how long I press, none of them do anything. The phone just stays on that screen until the battery dies. And as soon as I try to boot it back up or plug it into the computer after it dies, it just goes back to that screen.
Yours phone mbo is dead, try to rma phone.Emmc chip is dead on mbo,no flashing will bring him back to life.
HAHAH WHO SAYS THE MOB IS DEAD... HEY BUDDY CHECK MY THREAD THERE IS A FIX

Got my phone soft bricked whet I tried to flash another firmware (no root).
Samsung galaxy s7 edge (android 6). Wanted to downgrade it to lower security patch. The phone's bootloader number and another firmware's bootloader number is the same (1).
Before I even plugged the phone to PC I checked OEM unlock and USB debugging. Plugged in the USB and then hit the start button in Odin however not so long after start I got the FAIL message
https://ibb.co/StrkBpb
Volume down + power button + home button (while still connected to PC) gave me this error:
https://ibb.co/b3v0QNC
Now I'm stuck at this thing and have no idea what to do.
The phone doesn't react to power off button. When I try to go back to download mode the phone shuts down for a second and automatically turns on to show me the blue screen.
This is the 1st time happening to me. Please help, I'm in panic :crying:
(I tried following this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfyADP53El0 but I cannot find SS PC button anywhere)
Hello dear xda community
I have a px6 device from the company "Wondefoo" installed in my Mazda (without any hard buttons). It worked so far so good, but ZLink (Apple Carplay) didn't work, so I tried to fix this. To do that, I rooted the device, uninstalled the "ZLink" app and reinstalled a newer version. Then I tried to reboot. And then my problems started:
The device doesn't boot anymore. It tries to start up, I can see the Android 10 boot logo ("multi-media on-vehicle Navigation System" screen), but after about one minute, this logo disappears and the screen remains black.
OK, easy fix --> Just go into recovery mode and reset the device. But here's the big problem: I can't get into recovery mode.
Here's what I tried:
1. Ignition off and on --> Screen still black
2. Press "Reset" button (my device only has this one physical button) --> Boot process started again, but same outcome
3. Unmount the device, plug the power out, wait an hour, plug it in again and try again --> Boot process started again, but same outcome
4. Tried to connect with adb over Wi-Fi to the device (used the last known IP address) --> Connection timeout, Wi-Fi probably not started yet
5. Press&Hold "Reset" button until lights beign to flash to get into recovery mode --> Lights never flash because the "Reset" button somehow breaks the power circuit and when I release it, the device gets power again and boot process starts again with same outcome
6. Press&Hold "Reset" button for a minute, then release it, then press it again quickly within 1sec --> Boot process started again, same outcome
7. Tab with 5 fingers on the boot logo --> Nothing happened
8. Attached keyboard and pressed "Alt" + "PrintScreen" + "I" all the time --> Nothing happens. Keyboard is with RGB LEDs, so I saw it was active when the boot logo was displayed... Then, the LEDs on my keyboard turned off which was telling me that there is no keyboard input possible anymore
9. I even tried this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/new-method-enter-recovery-no-physical-buttons.4013453/ --> I just have one similar cable, not two as described in this post... So I put everything together again and just tried again --> Boot process started again, same outcome
Well... Is there any option left? I'm thinking about buying a USB male-to-male cable and try again with adb, but everyone tells me that I need to get into recovery mode first which I really can't
* Is there any other way to get into recovery mode? Maybe with my keyboard?
* Does anyone have another idea what I could try? Maybe without recovery mode?
Thanks in advance and cheers
T
As you said:
1. Ignition off and on
2.Have ready the needle for reset and do that instantly as you see the boot logo.
Once device restarted, wait until will see the boot logo again and pull out the ignition key.
3. Put in an USB socket a pen drive with the right firmware
4. Put back the ignition key and let it in ON position, without starting the engine. The update process will start, have a bit of patience until will finish. The device will restart at the end of the update, and straight after the boot logo, shortly press the reset button.
With a bit of luck, will have a fresh firmware on your device.
Thanks for your quick answer.
I tried what you said several times, but unfortunately I always end up on the black screen, no matter what I try.
My usb stick flashes quickly during the boot process, but nothing happens with it.
I also tried with an USB male-to-male cable and connect via adb, but it won‘t connect...

Are you sure you are holding the reset button for long enough?
On my machine (Dasaita) you hold the reset and the machine turns off... but you have to keep holding it even after it has turned off. Could be upwards of 1.5 minutes. Once the lights flash (and finished flashing), release and press one more time within 3 seconds.
Thank you for this idea. I have tried 30 seconds, but no more until today...
Now I tried with 1min, 2mins, even 3mins, but nothing happens.. I think the power is immediately cut as soon as I press the reset button. So there is probably no way to fix this easily
I also contacted the seller, but they have a talent to not understand my question. I just get answers like "press the reset button 2 sec and then everything is fixed" or "plug in the USB drive with the new ROM and press update" - of course that doesn't help.
Well I guess I'm left with one last thing: Throw this device away and buy a new one. Not from Wondefoo anymore of course, and hopefully with a working reset button.
I have the same issue. What did you end up doing?
Where did you buy your unit from?
Hi!
I have a problem with a galaxy a40 device, I flashed a stock ROM with Odin, everything went fine, green lights, PASS and all, but now the device just won't go pass the SM logo anymore. When I turn on, logo appears 2-3 secs I get a warning of the unlocked BL then logo comes back and after a second the phone restarts itself and the same goes on forever ( well about several hours, and after that it just shuts off somehow ). I cannot enter recovery mode or download mode at all. I keep pressing the combinations Power + Vol Down, Power + Vol Up, All three and every combinations I have just found on the internet so far. Odin doesnt recognize the phone, which is not a surprise since it won't start up. I have tried with adb but waiting for device is all I get.
How is it even possible that I cannot enter download mode at all? There was no problem with the physical keys, and the power still works, I cannot test the Vol buttons tho.
Has anyone ever had a problem like this? How can I come back from this? Is there a way to flash a ROM without download mode or turned off phone?
Thanks for any help!!
The download mode for this model is different from previous Samsung's :
IIRC, with the phone off, you need to hold VolumeUp and VolumeDown, then plug in the USB cable connected to a computer (you may need to press Power to power up the phone, I can't recall properly).
From there, you should be able to restore a stock ROM with Odin.
Let us know if it helped !

Here the same problem, have a40 in loop and never get rocgnized for computer, tryed many different cables, and installed a booring large amount of drivers software and nothing...
you need to power off device completely. let battery drain if you can't shut down. press and keep holding volume down + plug in usb cable for Odin3 (I doubt both?)

Generic answers, repeated 800 times why really need to waste a post with that? and that not was the problem:
1- For no usb recognition, is this phone bad design, in the back tap where is the battery in the samsung logo more or less if you push with fingers and charge is because the design of baterry is so crap and your usb port goes off when the under tap cable moves or just get little out of conection. If you can get working after push, usb on phone will do too.
