Disable userdata encryption - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi,
I unlocked my Moto G5+. Now, I'm on pure STOCK ROM (without rooting), and I like to disable the encryption of the DATA partition.
I tested:
1) "fastboot format userdata"
It doesn't work, as it says "Formatting is not supported for filesystem with type 'raw'."
2) TWRP "format data".
It works, but when I reboot and I reconfigure (as all data is reset), the Security indicates "Encrypted".
Please, can you help me how to disable encryption?
The main concern to disable encryption is have a plain data partition for a full backups/restores with TWRP without troubles with keys.
Thank you in advance!

Hi,
No one? Common!
- It's possible to disable encryption with the stock ROM and without rooting?
- Or it's required to have a custom kernel to disable the encryption?
Please, we need detailed info about this.

No, you didn't look at the forum clearly: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/how-to-how-to-supersu-moto-g5-plus-t3587684

Sorry?
These thread is about rooting, nothing related to DATA encryption.
I don't ask about the Magisk module "no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip".
My request is: how to disable encryption of the DATA partition with pure STOCK (bootloader unlocked, but not rooted)?

Flashing "no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip" will disable automatic encryption on boot-up. It isn't a Magisk module. And your attitude is hideous.

Encryption is forced by the stock bootloader itself. You can't stop this enforcing without modifying stock bootloader. As previous post says:
It is impossible.

Hi,
After a lot of time I know how to do it... and YES YOU CAN!
Flash ElementalX or similar stock compatible kernel. With this kernel the disable DM-verity isn't needed. So, if you flash it after install TWRP, and with the TWRP re-format the /data partition... then when you boot to the Stock ROM your /data will be unencrypted.

Using TWRP after enabling encryption

I'm not able to get roms to stick after enabling encryption with the 5.0 factory image, using TWRP 2820. I've seen some people say it's fixed in this version, but I don't see how it works. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

I enabled encryption on the 5.0 factory image (android encryption, not twrp backup encryption) then decided I wanted to try out a custom rom. When I wiped and flashed nothing stuck. TWRP said everything was successful, but there were absolutely no system files installed. I tried several different flashable zips and no files ever were written to the system partition, including mods, roms, supersu, etc. The only way I was able to get a rom to boot again was by restoring the full TWRP nandroid backup I took after encrypting.
I know someone has to be able to help me with this.
Anyone??? Please.....

OMG...is it seriously that simple? lol I feel dumb I figured since 2.8.2.0 was out after 5.0 it would have been built to work with lollipop. Thanks for the help

New preview NPC91K build is up

Google just posted the 2nd preview builds, downloadlink for the Nexus 6 http://developer.android.com/preview/download.html#top to be flashed in fastboot.
Linkadres NPC91K OTA http://developer.android.com/preview/download-ota.html to be sideloaded in recovery
Happy flashing
Here is a list of fixed issues from the first preview: https://code.google.com/p/android/i...ner+Summary+Stars+Reporter+Opened&cells=tiles.
Great!
Now we just need someone to whip up a No-Encrypt and Rooted Sys Img!
Sweet!
Here is a Changelog:
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/
EDIT:
Haven't updated my bootloader in a while, but this appears to have a newer version than what I have seen on the boards:
bootloader-shamu-moto-apq8084-71.17
71.17 vs. the 71.15 that has been around.
Radio is same 34R.

SuperSU patches the fstab and the SELinux policies, thus disabling encryption
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2016/04/android-n-developer-preview-2-out-today.html Here's what changed in this new preview, aside from the new look of folders that seem kind of..... different lol
prev 2 is super smooth, very nice. Waiting for a no dmverity boot img for NPC91K now.
Are those annoying missing library toaster messages gone now?

It disables the enforcing of it, so it does not encrypt your device on boot if ur running unencrypted
SuperSU 2.71 worked just fine, upgrading from previous N build, flashed SuperSU zip in TWRP 3.0.2.0

Flawless. Goin to flash later tonight
Here's an "encryptable" boot image for NPC91K I put together:

All that is modified is the fstab line. Haven't had a chance to test it though.

You have to wipe for it to actually remove encryption.

That is not correct.
'Official' status will be shown as long as you don't modify the system or boot partitions.
Unlocking bootloader is an official feature offered by Motorola (though it voids warranty) so that does not do anything to the status.

2nd post told how to solve the problem. Flash the factory firmware...then take an OTA. You can have system less root and it still say official. Once you change something on the system partition or flash TWRP it will say modified.

The point is definitely to solve the problem, which is why we are helping each other here right?
But giving unnecessary instructions will not solve it either. If you don't have a solution, it's best to educate someone on what the implications of the situation is
Unlocking, Custom Recovery, Systemless Rooting.. These do not change it to modified, but changing in system, oem or other partitions do (debloating, xposed or i dont remember all)
According to me, that status doesn't matter, nowhere in daily use...
Best & only way to make it official is to Downgrade to lower version of official ROM than available by OTA (as now available ROM is NPJ25.93-14 install NPJ25.93-11 or lower, not '25.93-14' )
Than you will receive OTA update to latest one '25.93-14' and completing that will result in official status...
NOTE: Installing update by zip, (available here) will not do anything.. And versions that i mentioned are of INDIAN variant, so check & take care of outside variants...

If it is not rooted, is it considered still pure and containing widevine lvl 1? Or because we booted with hekate its considered unlocked bootloader?
