G935A to G935U (Accidentally wiped Stock ROM. Stuck in Recovery + Download) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

I recently picked up 2 edges a Verizon and ATT variant, I flashed the Verizon phone succesfully to G935U with this firmware http://i.imgur.com/JuIeA6g.jpg
(The 4-file link in Step 2 https://forum.xda-developers.com/ve...de-flashing-sm-935u-firmware-verizon-t3415145 )
Since that went smoothly I decided to run Odin and flash that firmware onto the ATT Edge, ( original FW is g935aucs4apk1 )
It didn't work, I recall that it got stuck at Setup Connection. So I rebooted the phone and it took me into Recovery mode, where all the CHECKS failed. So the ROM has effectively been wiped; leaving me with just the Recovery menu and DOWNLOAD screens.
Is there any way of getting my self out of this?

Fixed it. Ended up clicking Re-partition and Flash Bootloader in Odin then flashing 4-files from the T-Mobile Nougat firmware using the PrinceComsy 3.12 Odin
Not my ideal way to do this, i'm sure I've lost root potential, but I have a working phone! (w/ No xposed )

As long as you are still on bootloader 4 (and you are, since to my knowledge there isn't a higher version) you can still root your device and return it to MM if necessary. It may take some effort, but it's doable.

How do I unroot and reflash stock ROM onto AT&T G930A S7?

I am trying to unroot my phone. I have a US version of G930A. Sammobile has every county except the USA. I found G930AATT1APB5_User_Binary.zip which has AP_G930AUCU1APB5_CL7193387_QB8719495_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar, the BL, CP and CSC file in it. I try to flash it using Odin3, and I get an "odin protocol version error." I take it because the image is a lower version that's what's on there. I would like to download the latest stock image but sammobile doesn't offer images for the US? Or is there a better way?
Wrong forum. This here is for SM-G930F Development, not Q&A. You'll get the answers you're seeking and more, at the S7 AT&T Q&A and Dev forums. Mod, please move - thanks.
Wrong forum. But try using Kies in Download mode
That is what i do when ever i restore my phone.
No Kies good lord. This isn't a Note 2.
You're getting that error because you're on newer firmware than you're trying to flash so it's erroring out.
Follow the Return to stock procedure in this thread:

Flash all 4 files, then you'll be on PF2 and able to get the OTA Update to PG1 with wifi calling, etc.
I tried using kies. It asks me for my model. I put in SM-G930A. The serial I put in all caps and it tells me my model number I entered is wrong.

Which Odin are you using?
You're flashing the PF2?
I've tried many versions of Odin v1 (not the 3). I'm not sure what the PF2 is.
To get it to work, I just defaulted the phone and rerooted it. It's the only way I can get it to work. It's working perfect right now. Only question is how long,

for g930a (galaxy s7 at&t NOT EDGE)
WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA MAKE A BACKUP
download these files:
Odin: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2t...din_3.12.3.rar
Flashing Files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B17...w?usp=drivesdk
After downloading extract the .rar extract it then extract each, BL, AP, ect... files. Use the odin included in the download to flash and you will be returned to stock. If the odin included still gives you the error you can get the princecomsey version and see if that works from here: http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/tools/ODIN/ODIN-modified.zip
If odin freezes or crashes just restart it and try again, it might take a while foor the AP file to load into odin so just be patient and if it looks like it is about to crash wait about 2-3 minutes then force close it and try again.
Now you are returned to stock an all set !!
(p.s) - PF2 is the latest firmware as of now for the g930a, meaning when you flash this you will be all set. You may have tried to flash the original PF which is now outdated cause AT&T updated it, I did this and it worked but i could not update my phone so I flashed this one and it works perfectly and Samsung pay is up and running.

S7 edge qualcomm bricked. Please help!!!!

So I am running s7 edge qualcom 6.0.1 T-mobile
I successfully rooted my device. However, I decided to go back to stock. So I put into developer mode and into recovery.
I opened ODIN - prince comsey because I used this version of ODIN to root the device.
I put in a stock version of t-mobile I found online.
and there was an error.
I tried to turn off the phone but it went into "please use smart switch for recovery"
Now smart switch doesn't work since my device still technically rooted.
I am currently trying different stock roms but am really panicked right now.
Please if anyone can offer any advice.
I am using Odin 3.12 now instead of the prince comsy version to try to flash a stock rom.
I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Yeah I've tried 3 different version of Odin no luck. Didn't use TWRP. I flashed root using Odin then cmd prompted fastboot files and superSU.
Strange thing is now on recovery mode my warrany counter is 0x0 but binary is custom.
Did you try the Emergency Device Initialisiation in Smart Switch?
Might want to try and get another stock file.

How to downgrade from latest Stock Marshmallow to Stock Lollipop

Hi everyone,
I am running stock G920FXXU4DPIL (6.0.1) and I want to go back to stock G920FXXU3COI9 (5.1.1).
When I try to flash G920FXXU3COI9 with Odin, it fails at sboot.bin with error "sw rev check fail device 4 binary 3", which is quite normal because Samsung prevents flashing older bootloader over newer bootloader.
So I extracted the content of the stock firmware, removed sboot.bin, cm.bin, modem.bin and repacked a new .tar using android unified toolkit.
Then I flashed the resulting file with Odin.
Flashing worked but now I am stuck at Samsung logo. I cannot enter recovery either.
Only way to soft unbrick the phone is flash stock G920FXXU4DPIL again.
Why ??
I also want to go back to 5.1.1 as I don't like MM and N is also not too stable. so I have struggled alot tried 15 different firmwares from all regions but no luck all of them fails at sboot.bin device 5 binary 4 at last I flashed lollipop based zips and they also stuck at bootlogo. There is a combination firmware 5.1.1 with engineered bootloader which allow you to downgrade but fingerprint sensor don't work .

I have searched hundreds of pages and it's nowhere to be found :'(
Thanks!

How do you mean not too stable? It works perfectly! I installed CYV version, not a single glitch since install. Everything works like a charm and battery is muvh better than on MM. Plus it has some pretty awesome options.
OK i managed to find a combination firmware:
COMBINATION_OXA_FA50_G920FXXU4APF1_OXA4APF1_CL6658768_QB10183466_REV02
However there is a pit file inside. Does this mean I have to repartition the device?
Seems tricky since I want to be able to flash a stock firmware afterwards.
Can I extract and flash only sboot.bin from combination firmware?
From my understanding, once I have the engineering bootloader, it will let me flash an older one...

there is no problem with it. You can go back to any MM or N firmware.

Maybe I"m fed up from N grace ux as before N was released i was using note 7 grace ux port. Lollipop is so responsive if you used it then you can feel that is pretty obvious.
It worked!
I flashed COMBINATION_OXA_FA50_G920FXXU4APF1_OXA4APF1_CL6658 768_QB10183466_REV02 to get the engineering bootloader rev4.
Then I tried to flash G920FXXU3COI9_G920FOXA3COJ1_G920FXXU3COI9_HOME but it failed at sboot.bin device 4 binary 3 which prooves that even engineering bootloader prevents downgrade.
Then I tried to flash G920FXXU3COI9_G920FOXA3COJ1_G920FXXU3COI9_HOME without sboot.bin, cm.bin and modem.bin => it worked (not stuck at Samsung logo anymore).
My fingerprint scanner is not working but baseband is here (IMEI ok).
So I have kind of a "hybrid Lollipop" G920FXXU3COI9_G920FXXU4BPF1 but that's ok for what I wanted to do
EDIT: CF-Auto-Root-zeroflte-zerofltexx-smg920f doesn't seem to work when using engineering bootloader => I guess I'll have to find a new way to root the phone :-S
so any good way to do it ? because nougat is bad
Finally I got it rooted using TWRP and flashing SuperSU
So, to sum up, here is what I did to downgrade from stock G920FXXU4DPIL (6.0.1) to stock G920FXXU3COI9 (5.1.1):
(my guess is it will also work with Nougat)
1. Find combination firmware with engineering bootloader matching your current bootloader revision (mine was 4) - unfortunately this step may not be free
2. Find stock firmware you want to downgrade to (even if it is packed with an older sboot.bin bootloader)
3. Extract stock firmware, remove sboot.bin, cm.bin and modem.bin
4. Repack stock firmware to tar (with android unified toolkit for example) without the 3 .bin files
5. Flash combination firmware with Odin
6. Let it boot once and then go back to Odin
7. Flash repacked stock firmware with Odin
Additional steps to get root:
8. Download SuperSU (flashable zip)
9. Download TWRP
10. Flash TWRP with Odin
11. Enter recovery (TWRP) and flash SuperSU
VoilĂ  !
Does it work with G925F (edge) too? Because I really want to downgrade to 5.1.1 as well because it was the best version for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge in my opinion.. Battery life was VERY good, design was pretty amazing... and Samsung is blocking the downgrade (which is very STUPID!)
Okay I downgraded my S6 edge sucessfully to 5.1.1!
I missed that old UI soo mucchh thanks for your guidance

Actually there is a reason Samsung doesn't want you to downgrade bootloader: I noticed that every bootloader update usually comes with modem/baseband update, which implies some modifications in the /efs partition as well. An older bootloader would then be unable to read new /efs partition, resulting in a null IMEI. That is why the correct way to downgrade is to flash the old system files but keeping current modem/baseband.
The real stupid thing here is that the stock MM bootloader prevents stock LP image to boot. Fortunately the engineering bootloader can bypass this

Sometimes I get a Kernel Problem. The phone crashes randomly after the downgrade. How to fix this?
the only thing i want now is a way to make fingerprint sensor work. If anybody know something about it please reply.

I think fingerprint sensor is somehow related to something inside cm.bin (cryptography management). As long as we don't get cm.bin matching both bootloader version and system image version at the same time, I don't see a way to make it work :crying:

i flashed latest cm.bin from nougat it boots up but fingerprint sensor is still not working and with engineering bootloader, the rom crashes at certain apps and get really snapier when unlocking phone with pin or pattern. So i am back to nougat i gave up downgrading almost downloaded whole sammobile 5.1.1 firmwares non of them is having a B:5 K:2 S:2 bootloader I was expecting such rom because on Verizon S6 , there is a 5.1.1 firmware that successfully allows to get down with same latest sboot.bin and i still believe there is a firmware like that for our model too but it is really hard to find it.

Conf00sed n00b needs to restore his 950u to fac

hello, not exactly a n00b, but definitely with this phone.
Long story short, tried to root with Odin using apparently depreciated instructions. Odin halted after wiping my NAND, leaving me with a softbricked phone.
I need help restoring the phone to factory. I have expierienced fail auth and sha256 errors trying do restore.
Which of the dozens of flavors of odin , and which FW do I need to get this back to work? I forgot to mention the carrier is AT&T. So my boot loader is locked.
TY
use prince comsy odin
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950U1/ATT/
Clarification
Is U1 FW the same as for SM-G950U? Just want to clarify before I attempt to flash again. and ty for your reply
Restore worked beautifully, however cosmey errored out and I had to use the PatcheD version of odin to complete. Can someone point me to a guide for rooting the U1 oreo pls?

U 1 can be flashed but you just want the regular U firmware.
Make sure it is the correct bootloader version as what the device is on now or higher. As downgrading is not possible and also throws a fail auth error.
Also use regular Odin 3.13.1 for stock firmwares. Not comsey, that is for modded firmware and such

Yea here's the kicker. Oreo can't be rooted and u1 isn't rooted only rooted is part cyborg rom. Which is U Firmware Also if your bootloader is to high. 3 or higher no downgrade no root
I think we have had quite a mix up or misunderstanding here...The link in #2 points to ATT SM-G950U1 FW. I looked all over the sammobile site and was not able to find any ATT FW for the 950U, only the U1. Also, I was told in #2 to use prince cosmey so I tried. I ran cosmey as admin loaded the 4 Files, left the options on default, and it errored out. So I tried standard odin with default options, it errored out as well. Finally, I used the PatcheD odin 3b and it worked flawlessly. My only question now, can someone link me to a working root method for the 950U/U1
for the snapdragon version of the s8 by at&t? I have tried several, but odin and/or the device always throws an error. I am on the verge of giving up. TY very much for all your help up to this point, I could not have gotten my phone back to working order without your help.

Attempting to revert back to stock firmware after bad root with Odin

I tried to root my S7 Edge about 3 days ago when something went wrong and something got corrupted. Most of stock firmware was missing after installation from looking at files inside of TWRP. Long story short, I cannot flash stock ROM back onto my S7 Edge. I keep getting complete(write) operation failed inside of Odin when I flash stock ROM onto it. The only thing that I managed to successfully flash back was stock recovery and CP but I ended up flashing back to TWRP. Flashing stock BL gives me errors regarding sboot.img.
My phone is not bricked as TWRP works fine and I managed to flash DotOS onto it as a test and it worked fine and I had no issues flashing DotOS onto it either.
My S7 Edge (SM-G935F) is a UK phone locked to O2 updated to Android 8.0.0. I tried two or three stock firmwares from SamMobile under firmwares/galaxy-s7-edge/SM-G935F/O2U/ but I keep getting Odin compeltion failed error.
