I can't seem to find find anyone on here with the same problem. I have a stock AT&T S8. I'm using the regular Samsung Messenger for text messaging. One contact (my wife) will not update on the main screen where everyone has the latest text listed by time/date order. The last text it's showing is from a month ago, but when I open it up, it shows the most recent text from today. If I pin the contact to the top, it will stay on the top but the message preview is still from a month ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,
I seem to be having an issue with the time stamps on my text messages. The ones that I send are okay, however the ones that I receive all have different times on them. For example:
If I send a text at 8:15PM and receive a reply right away, it'll show my text sent at 8:15PM, but the reply will have a back dated time... Maybe 5PM, 4PM... something like that.
Any ideas why?
Thanks!
I find this but its by no means universal. some messages I recive are an hour ahead others are not. I recived two messages at almost the same time & one of them had the wrong time. I can't wait for the new update to fix all of these little issues
I've seen this problem since my G1. It's still suffering from it, as is my Magic and my Hero.
I'm still having the same issue.
My received text messages show a time of 4 hours behind.
So if I send a text at 6:30 and receive a reply at 6:32, it shows 2:32 as the received time.
Does anyone know if there's a fix for this? I have updated to the latest (leaked) firmware, but still no luck.
Thanks!
Are you all on the same network? Might not be the phone because i've never noticed this

Was just going to ask this... What network are you on, have you set network location to automatic by carrier, if so, set it manually to the city / country you are in.
I'm on O2 and have been using the network provided values.
I've set it to manual and text someone at 12:44. The reply came in a little while after and was stamped 12:45 so no issue there it seems. Strange.
I'm now getting issues now with texts in fairly quick succession.
The time stamps can be the same i.e. 21:17 but a reply from someone will sometimes appear before my original text in thread view.
Also a reply came in to one of my texts with a time stamp before my original text. This was displayed "correctly" as before my text, but the fact its timestamped in this way can't be right.
Anyone else seen this?
It's like the phone is looking at minutes for accuracy, not seconds. Also taking the timestamp of when a text was sent from the other person's phone as the time received to my phone. Hm :/
I get this on Orange when I receive a message from the US. All my outgoing messages are listed at the bottom of the conversation, while the one received from the US are at the top.
UK based conversations are all threaded correctly.
Ok thanks.
It never used to be like this so I'm wondering after prolonged use the sms database gets a bit corrupted somehow?
For me it seems to behave like this: for outgoing (sent) messages I see the time that is set on Hero. For incoming messages, however, Hero shows the time on the network provider.
I assume there is some header in SMS message containing the time, and Hero uses that instead of using the time Hero has when the message arrives.
I started using the Network Provider time (automatic) to get rid of this.
Hello,
I've noticed a couple of SMS grievances that I was hoping there was a way to address. I'm running the stock rom 1.66.405.2 (WWE) and the HTC messages service.
The first one is that, when typing an SMS to someone I already have a conversation with, as it populates the list the screen will "jump" up a bit and highlight the latest message in the conversation. I can carry on typing, but now the keyboard is covering the text entry view so I have to stop and scroll down. Is there any way of stopping this known?
The other is that when I receive a message, if I am still on the messages tab on the home screen, the notification area icon will remain onscreen even after I have 'read' the message (the green counter on the tab disappears, but I didn't enter the messages service) or deleted it (as I would instantly with delivery receipts) until I move to another tab and come back to messages - or actually go into the service itself. It's annoying because if I lock the screen, the lock slider behaves as if I have a new message and is insistent on telling me.
If I'm not being clear enough, let me know and I'll try and clarify.
the first one is very known and has never been solved so far. there has been a mini Fix... where you add the messages tab to the quicklinks and then it won't happen. Not a fix for manila which i love and wish it wasn't enabled there.
the second one ... i have never solved myself. just got used to it.
Oh well getting a desire soon so will leave this Windows crap behind
may i know what u mean by adding the msg tab to quicklink?
I have tried adding HTC msging tab to the quicklink on the today's main page, but it didnt seem to help the jumping bit.
Really desperately need to solve the sms jumping problem thanks
Hello,
For the past couple days while I was on a camping trip I have had a really annoying problem. I cannot receive text messages right now- or rather, I cannot view them. What will happen when I get a text message is that it will show up on the today screen- I will see the "text 1", but when I go to view the text, it takes me to the inbox- but the text isn't there. This has happened with a dozen texts over a few days, before and after a soft reset, and hasn't -not- happened to any texts. I haven't been able to get/view any new texts for several days. I know that texts are actually coming, because I can send myself a text from vtext.com and my phone will show that I have a new text- but I can't see it in my inbox. Also, I once caught a text right as it was coming in and was able to read the first part of it, but when I went to reply... it wasn't there.
I am using RyanMogul's light ROM, latest build.
I have two questions:
How can I stop this from happening?
Can I view the texts I have lost over the past few days?
Thank you!

Well, I figured out how I can view the old texts, sort of- I did a PIM backup with compression and binary turned off, then copied that file to my PC, unarchived it with 7-zip, then opened the messages folder in notepad (or excel). The message text was buried in plaintext among a lot of code.
I am not sure what caused this, the only thing I really know is that when PIM backup prompted me for what to back up, it showed _two_ messages sections. Odd. I also discovered I'd lost the ability to sent texts.
I figure I'll just re-flash and see if that fixes the problem. I'll hold off on going to another ROM because I don't want to chance losing my hard-won GPS capability.
Hi guys,
I’ve three issues with the phone and I hope I will get the solution here.
1# the 1st one is in my contact book when I store a contact or edit a previous contact and store IM details/ID in fields and later when I click on that IM id it shown ‘application not found’. Like I’ve skype installed and running all time, in contact book/phone book when I press any contact’s IM it shows this. and its same for all Hangout, Skype etc. But in my previous android phone if I press one IM which has ID it opens that application.
2# another issue is in my previous phone which had 1st google talk installed but later replaced with hangout, if a contact has GTalk id it shows the online status ‘green dot’ in the phone book itself. But not that’s not working. I’m not sure I saw this with hangout but definitely I checked that when Gtalk installed.
3# another issue a with the skype application and I posted the issue there but didn’t get any response. If anyone have any idea please advice. Here is the issue:
I use skype all the time on PC and use it a lot on my mobile device Galaxy Note 3 Kitkat 4.4.2 as well. The issue I’m getting is whenever I receive a message the notification bar shows the user’s skype user name, not the name I set for that user.
Suppose a user’s actual skype name/username is ‘xyz123’ and I renamed the user in my skype as ‘John’ to help me identify that user accurately. Like many people does. But whenever I receive a message from ‘xyz123’ the notification bar (expanded and non expanded) shows the username not the name I set. Is there any solution or it’s a bug?
In my earlier version Galaxy phone (not Kitkat) I didn’t get this issue. please advice.

Hi all,
Started this thread in the Asus ZenWatch section, but looks like it is more indicative of the S5 as a whole. Whenever I try to use Google Now to send a text message using my voice, it shows up in my conversations as sent, but the recipient never actually receives it. This occurs in the Verizon Messaging App, the default Samsung Messaging App, and Google Hang Outs. When I click on the message history, it looks like the phone is adding the country code of "01" (USA) to the beginning of my texts. I'm in the USA so I'm not sure of this is a problem or not. As of right now, I can't send any texts through Google Now. This is a huge deal breaker for me, as I got the phone specifically for hands-free applications.
I'm working with a Samsung Galaxy S5 running 4.4.4 on the Verizon Network. Any help or advice anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!
