Has anyone heard of the Coolpad Cool s1? It appears to be the same exact phone as the Le Pro3.

Yes
LeEco bought Coolpad a while back I think so Coolpad is part of LeEco. Coolpad S1 (have headphone 3.5mm jack) price is about $400 so a bit more expensive than Le Pro 3.
I have made some researches on both devices and these are the differences that I found between Le Pro3 x720 & Cool Changer S1:
1. Pro3 has NFC while S1 doesn't.
2. Cool S1 has much better speakers made by Harman Kardon.
3. Pro3 display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
4. Cool S1 display is 85% NTSC while Pro3 is 80% NTSC.
5. Pro3 seems to have a bit stronger body and a better build quality.
5. In Cool S1 the black border is almost removed and also it has a more ergonomic body.
6. There is no development on Coolpad phones made by LeEco. (But I'm not sure if Pro3 ROMs or kernels are compatible with Cool S1 or not)
7. Cool S1 is a bit lighter than Pro 3 (168gr. vs. 175gr.)
8. Cool S1 CPU has surprisingly underclocked to 1.9 GHz while Pro3 is 2.3 GHz. (Tested by one of my friends using CPU-Z and AIDA64)
9. Some packages of Cool S1 have included amazing akg earphones while most of cheaper ones that are currently available doesn't have that.
10. Pro3 has a LTE Cat12 modem but Cool S1 must be Cat9 but there is no official information about that.
That's all I know
Official sources do not talk about Gorilla Glass in x720. It is listed in LeMall US (x727), but in CN is not.
Also 1.9 MHz can't be rised up by Kernel Auditor?

Yes, the official US website has listed Gorilla Glass but about the CN version although there is no info on the lemall, almost every Chinese seller or website (Kimovil for example) says that the phone have Gorilla Glass. Also it's totally obvious that the screen is scratch resistant.
And about the kernel auditor, he just made some basic tests and didn't want to root the phone to test kernel auditor.
I really hope that Cool Changer S1 becomes popular so it will can have some customs roms, otherwise seems like this device will die with android 6
Correction I think it got no 3.5mm headphone jack but Type C audio same as Le Pro 3, compared spec here:
http://www.phonebunch.com/compare-phones/leeco_le_pro3-2668-vs-coolpad_cool_s1-2735/
Everything almost the same, its even come with EUI 5.8 skin. One thing I notice LTE for Coolpad S1 is CAT 4 150/50Mbps where Le Pro 3 is CAT 12. Other main difference would be Hi-Fi audio but need info to confirm it.
It seems to be wider by 0.8mm

First of all thanks about the ROM and the recovery
One question: a noob question
If I changed the build.prop to x720 it's work?
I do not recommend using a rom for x720 on the Coolpad S1 Changer. Although the hardware seems the same, there are differences in the file system, partitions and some drivers and configuration files. You need to have a modified ROM specially for Coolpad S1 otherwise you will have a device that doesn't works or works badly! Greetings!

Hi all, I made some research here and there to compare LP3 with S1. I unpacked both stock ROMs and they are very very similar. I found slight differences into ramdisk files, due to different kernels. I could port a boot.img and repack a lineage 13 for a try. I cannot repack .dat files, so the ROM should be flashed with fastboot or twrp. If someone wants to be a tester is very welcome. I don't have the device. It could be useful to get the device partition log.

Hi guys
I want to build CM for ZE551KL (doesn't have much time now but I want to know how to start). I was searching compatible devices with CM and found that Samsung A8 has very similar specs and has a port of CM working. Tried to contact the developer and had no luck but I think we can take it as a start point for ze551kl and for other models later.
This is the place for gathering info to build CM for ZE551KL, any help is appreciated
Wish I knew more about how to develop/port. If there's testing needed for this model, i'm happy to help. Or if there's other ways, lemme know.

Have you tried booting (not flashing) the Cyanogenmod recovery? Since the recovery is a standalone OS that doesn't depend on the system partition etc, you should get a fair idea if the port is going to work. Also why not try the WileyFox Storm as a base. The Storm (codename kipper) is officially supported by both CyanogenOS and CyanogenMod:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=kipper
https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Kipper_Info
I think the main difference is in the Snapdragon version, MSM8939 (Snapdragon 615) for the Storm and MSM8939v2 (Snapdragon 616) for ZE551KL. I suspect the version change is a mere speed bump that will be autodetected by the kernel anyway, but the recovery should work if you can boot it using fastboot.
Samsung A8 with CM isn't the version we need, so that cellphone as base is discarded.
Type-C thanks for the hints, didn't know much about CM Recovery. I was searching cellphones with same chipset [1] and found that Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 already has unofficial cyanogenmod [2] and the source code is in [3]
I think we have good background to start with, I will get my hands dirty as soon as I can

5.8 or 5.9 I'd say, but probably not 8.8.
And it's a shop Rom for international orders. I'd bet it came with Google Play pre-installed too, right?

I don't own a x722 myself, but if it's like a x720 you can flash a stock rom using the recovery boot (boot the phone while holding volume up). You can find said rom on the x722 subforum.

Ok so when I go into the recovery at startup I have an update button but I would like to know if the roms (720,722,727) are compatible between it?
I suggest you to read carefully the various threads to learn "how to". And no, the roms for Lex 720/727 aren't compatible with Lex 722, until now. Lex 722 has slighty different hardware but it is enough to prevent easy compatibility. Cheers!
Do not flash a x720 or x727 rom to your x722, you will brick the phone.

Greetings to all,
I saw this phone on a sale for about 175$ and I have to say, for the hardware (snapdragon 821, 64gb, 4b of ram) I think it is a very good price, but I´m doing some reading and this phone comes with android 6 and vulkan support comes with Nougat.
I would like to know is there´s a custom rom for this phone than enables opengl 3.2 and vulkan support.
Also I saw some threads like this one :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr...eno-vulkan-drivers-snapdragon-t3555141/page20
In that thread some people modified the adreno drivers so that they can be installed on any phone with a snapdragon 820/21 chipset and get vulkan support, this method could work on this phone?
and lastly, the phone I saw was the usa edition, what is the last official rom for that model?, and the bootloader can be unlocked?
Thanks in advance for the help.

You will NOT get better hardware for the price. The only concern I would have is getting it replaced if it ever breaks within the warranty period. LeEco is under hard times right now. However, for the price I would not be concerned.
The bootloader on the USA version is super easy to unlock. This will not be a problem.
Custom ROMS. There are several really good ones using Nougat. They are rock solid and have great performance. AICP and Omni are two of the more popular ones. OREO is also in the works for the phone, so expect a ROM with that OS in the future.
Last official version of stock OS on USA model is 21s, but you can install any of the other stock ROMS from international versions of the phone.
There are multiple rock solid Nougat ROMS which means you will get Vulkan support.
Buy the phone!
Could you provide a link for $175?
Well, I took the plunge and recently received the phone in my country, After using it a few days I got to say that I´m in love with it.
I installed lineage on it and after that I installed the blackscreen kernel to overclock the phone to 2.4 ghz and tweak the performance a little, indeed with the Lineage rom open gl 3.2 and vulkan becomes avalaible and the performance of the phone
it´s like night and day compared to the stock kernel that came with it.
For the price I paid to get this kind of hardware it´s definitly a bargain, I heartily recommend this phone but only to the people that are willing to flash a custom rom on it, because leaving this phone in the stock kernel is a crime to the 821 snapdragon that comes with it.
I am planning to buy K20
need to know just one thing
does k20 also uses MODIFIED vendor image like Poco ? (for treble)
or it uses original vendor image ?
reason ?
poco f1 is on modified vendor image and
1. gives crashes and 1tb data use warning errors if usb tethering is done on 3g
2. volume boost mixer path file alteration doesnt work
can any user confirm "mixer_path.xml" file existance in k20 pro under /system/vendor/etc or system/vendor ?
as poco is missing this file , if this file exists in your k20 then i will buy
If you look for any available Android Q based custom ROM for this phone they all ask to flash it on top of the original/stock MIUI vendor and not wipe it. Don't know if this answers your question.
Again, these are not GSI ROMs, they're just semi traditional ROMs without a built in/custom vendor set.
I'm sure running a GSI is much easier and better than on the Poco F1 because the K20 came with Android 9 which vastly improved treble support over Android 8 (F1s original OS I believe).

THIS meants its using MODIFIED VENDOR IMAGE like poco
https://www.xda-developers.com/poco-f1-vendor-android-pie-project-treble-gsi/
now the only way to BOOST volume is via custom kernels and using franko app and/or smart kernel manager (github)
in my old redmi note 5 pro, i always made RX4 DITIGAL and RX5 DIGITAL volumes to 120 from 84 and i could hear redmi note5 pro from another room (playing music on youtube)

I'm mostly concerned about the openess of Xiaomi towards releasing all of their code to help ROM developers. I've seen nothing but good stuff.

Doesn't make sense at all to pay 200 euros more for pro variant in my opinion
Well in the more expensive store the Mi 9T is in the mid 300 Euros so it's around 100 Euro difference. Same as in the cheaper store, the Pro is in the mid 300 Euro range.
I know the community is much bigger with the Pro and the CPU is a beast and if I could I would buy it but the 9T packs a big punch. If my 2017 Galaxy A3 with a hack job Treble patch runs like a beast and well then the 9T will be much better.

this shows that MI9T/K20/K20pro/K20proPREMIUM is using MODIFIED VENDOR IMAGE for treble support! this also means that later this will create problems for LineAgeOS development as for POCO they already protested and LineAgeOS stopped development on 7Aug2019 (pie) and never released Android10 either, but yes unofficial versions are on XDA
mainly mixer_path.xml, if you increase RX5 Digital volume to 110, and HPHL/HPHR left/right channel number from 8 to 20, *(just above the Rx1 volume line,, and REBOOT
you will have AMAZING speaker, headphone, bluetooth headfone sound!
with Modified vendor image when this main file is MISSING, and all other mixer_path(suffix).xml are inplace! NONE of them had affect on volume (I TRIED manipulated numbers in my poco f1 for ALL the files having RX5 Digital volume, lines...) it doesnt work!
and yes with CUSTOM kernel you can boost volume but it will ONLY AFFECT earphone! speaker sounds very low on poco
so i was wandering! before i upgrade, who can help ..
I thank you from my heart for helping me!
vendor images needed to be flashed manually when you decide to step in to custom rom from MIUI11 to PixelExperience or HAVOC, and DFE (disable force encryption_) must be flashed in twrp otherwise you will have to fomat you internal storage to gain acces under NEWLY FLASHED vendor.img file (security keys change).... DFE flashing is unsafe so just take backup always and perform FULL FORMATING and let the new keys get reinstated for encryption purposes....
later magisk20.1 can be flashed to gain root access..
i think i will still buy k20proPremiuim version as i am getting on offer and it has 12gbRam ...
is overall speaker sound GOOD ? can u hear video on youtube from next room?
