08/10/11 doomlord is back on x10 dev

08/10/11 - Doomlord has purchased a replacement X10 for further Dev, THANK-YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED
Update 03/10/11 : SETool unfortunately unable to fix Doomed X10, the hunt for a replacement continues. All suggestions welcome as it is in our interest to fix this ASNAP.

One of our greatest Devs (DoomLord) has managed to brick his x10 (in the name of development) and unless the costs are significantly small enough to be worth the repair - the phone will not be replaced by another X10.
That said i thought it would be in all of our interests to open this thread to see if anyone has a "spare Parts" x10 that "might" help fix the problem. Or indeed encourage users to pool together to help.
Doomlord - i hope you don't mind this, if you do please let me know and i will request it is closed.
@ALL XDA X10 owners, it has been mentioned that it might be the motherboard that needs replacing.

Just a thought but you can get a second hand / reco x10 for that sorta price on some ebay stores ( when i smashed mine i was gonna buy one but i only needed the screen $30 bucks as opposed to $200 )

I'm trying Doom, but I can't send funds to India for some reason....
I'll keep trying, I had this problem with Erick one day, but I could send it after about 12 hours.
Has anyone else had trouble sending money/gift to India in the last 2 days?
Or has anyone gotten money through to him lately?

Hi luke,
I had the same issues a few weeks back with Dooms link, he sent me another link and it worked fine then, i think it was something to do with a different email account he was using at the time.

On Craigslist here in US there is one selling for 70usd here in my area its prolly simlocked to at&t but that u can get by unlocking maybe some one in us could catch one from there and send it to him just a thought I can't do it myself but maybe someone here who makes more money could

Upgrading? Want to pass along your SPH-D700 to a wannabe mod'er?

Hey forum newb here!
I was lucky enough to receive an SPH-D700 earlier this year as my first smartphone! :cyclops: Problem is its kinda busted up and the USB pins are broke.
So I'm really bummed I can't upgrade to CyanogenMod. At least not without a lot of trouble (attempting the latest MasterKey hack for example).
I know its a shot in the dark, but I thought I would just put the word out if any of you guys are upgrading and want to pass along your old phone to a wannabe mod'er... I'd really be interested.
I'm willing to pay shipping.

It's not that it's off topic, it's just that buying and selling is no longer allowed within the forums of xda. That's why there's the swappa link, so I'd head there first for a phone.

I'm starting this bounty at $50 because this phone is awesome, with so much potential and we currently have no root access, etc.

Could you change the title of the thread to "Bounty for unlocked bootloader"?
It seems that we are much closer to getting that via Dan Rosenberg's method than having someone find an exploit for the 4.4.4 firmware to obtain root. Note that an unlocked bootloader will allow for both root and write protection off for the lifetime of the device, over all* OTA patches to come.
*unless the OTA relocks the bootloader and patches the vulnerability discovered by Dan, then we're SOL.
Once the title is changed, count me in for $20.

I guess you missed the 50+ page thread for this EXACT same topic....

I guess I may have missed that other thread. I didn't intend to make one on top of another if I did but upon my first post in another thread this was recommended, so I edited my post as a mistake. Then I got the title wrong and humbly corrected it. I actually prefer to leave this stuff to the grown ups but I been a little desperate as I'm sure others may be too. Does this thread need to be deleted? Is there another thread for the same thing? If so, how do I close the thread. I'm all ears for advice, although I may not have time to make any changes. Any one who wants to take over thread is certainly invited and welcome. I just want progress and an willing to pay. :thumbup:

Are you all going to come back to THIS thread, and edit out your pledges? Because that's what you need to do. You don't pledge bounties in multiple threads for the same thing....not unless you intend on paying twice!
EDIT: Glad to see a new bounty thread was started...however consider the shortcoming - that thread is for "4.4.4. root" - it does not mention write protect disable or bootloader unlock. What exactly are you guys wanting? Technically, a "temp-root" on 4.4.4 would qualify for this bounty, and could quickly be patched by the next update.
Just food for thought....I really expected the new bounty thread to be for full bootloader unlock -- to encourage a DEV to take Dan Rosenburg's new bootloader trust zone vulnerability and create a tool to exploit it. That is the only permanent rooting solution for you guys.
EDIT2: I see that the title of the new bounty thread has been changed to "full bootloader unlock". Great :good:

Easier than what? Its currently the ONLY option.
It does not work for everybody. He can only unlock devices between a certain date range. Almost no 2013 devices, and very few devices with assembly dates in the past 2 months.
It is a good option, but we already have an existing thread on that topic. I believe most or all of those pledging bounties for an exploit have tried the middleman already, unsuccessfully.

I'll contribute $20.

Or you know how to do it and you have a price that our pledges don't total? That's pretty soon, especially given that I haven't seen the exploit of Dan's vulnerability on any other phone. I imagine that once it's been done on one phone the others will follow quickly and snatch up bounties. Keep it alive, let it build up and eventually someone will deliver.

Everyone has the opportunity to withdraw their pledges at any point. Setting them to expire on the 22nd seems extremely excessive in my opinion...

Does nfc need to be on if you still want to pay via the old card swipe method?
*edit* I just noticed that Samsung pay turns nfc once you go to pay, that's kinda neat.
