My wife S8 has an LED issue. She was trying to use a Yellow led for text messages, but it comes up yellow/orange look. Was trying to determine if this is a software issue or hardware. I have read that older Galaxy phones have a Hardware test mode by dialing *#0*# and it suppose to come up with a white screen with a selection of test you can do. So I am wondering does the S8 have this function. I tried the code last night but nothing happen. Wasn't sure if it needs to be in developer mode to perform this function.
Thanks
works on mine fine
Carrier locked?
If you got such smartphone from a carrier that may be the problem.

Hi, how are you? Recently i was working on the pc with my phone next to the keyboard and i noticed a light on the phone, but i wasn't able to see what was that because it was gone too fast, i tough it was a reflection of my screen.
Now, the screen was on saying that i enter 5 wrong knock codes and i needed to put my PIN in order to keep using the phone. So, that light that saw was the notification light 'saying' that a knock code was entered incorrectly.
So thats the problem, the screen touches by itself when it's locked. It's seems that this problem appeared after installing CloudyG3, but i used several days without this problem?
Maybe it has something to do because of the low battery that i have now (15%-)? (I'm charging it right now). Maybe it's the kernel?
PS: When using the phone normally, the screen works fine.
Hi
I have a trouble and I wish to test my phone. I have a samsun note 4. Sometimes I stay in the dark or low light in the bedroom, with conditions of constant lights, browsing the web with the browser.
I avoid to cover with the finger the light sensor in front f the phone, but randomly it happens that the screen brightness will rise and fall. This is not a flash but a random chand of display light.
I gave a look to settings and I realized that the cursor is set maximum light (that is no software set light down).
it is possible that there is a defect in the screen? can you suggest a method to test the operation?
The phenomenon is not frequent but since my phone is hot in the upper part I going to consider some electronic defect
Thank you in advance

Dial *#0*# to open hardware test (screen, sensors,...)
If it doesn't work, you can open it with Samsung Phone Info app on play store. (vndnguyen)

Hi I need to test the sensors on my note 4 the s-pen wont detect when its detached or inserted, but it works for everything else, so I want to test the sensor in the phone, but I need to use the phone info app because I'm running a custom rom and I cant get into service mode using the phone code, any ideas what option i need to choose with phone info app please?
I'm not sure if it will work for you. I'm on a custom rom based on official Samsung firmware. In the phone info app, menu, secret codes, I have the first option 0* (HWmoduletest). I opened it with Launch1
In that program there's a a possibility to do a S-pen test.
Of course, this might not work if you're on CM rom or if your rom developer removed the app to do this test. In that case you can better ask it where you got your rom.
I'm not familiar with CM rom
Hi everyone!
I have ben using my s4 for a long time, but i just noticed that the screen doesnt rotate. I entered to the service hub from the telephone app, to check the sensors, and it showed nothing, meaning that the numbers were everywhere , regardless what i was doing with my phone, tilting or anything.
The SENSOR HUB TEST says: FAIL
MCU name NG
What can I do ?
Thanks.
Factory reset, reflash stock rom.

Sometimes it might be because of the dust. I had my proximity sensor fixed by just blowing air into it. So try this: open the back panel and blow some air into it (compressed or normal).
All the best

This happened two days ago with my wife's S7 Edge. She was using it to text me about dinner plans after work, her screen shut off, and it wouldn't work for several hours. The thing was getting very hot. When she was home and charging the phone the screen started working again for a little while, but with several green stripes down the right edge snd aa flashing horizontal band of grey near the top overlaying the screen image. Then when I tried plugging it into my computer to use Samsung's Smart Switch to roll back from the update she had accepted while at work the screen died again. It has not come on since, not even the stripes, and blue or red LED lights once in a wwhile at random. I managed to use Smart Switch to wipe the phone's memory. Then the program took several hours to download something very slowly and install that - a whole new OS update? That completed, and now the charging LED works correctly and the green stripes and grey band are back, flashing rapidly when powering on. Otherwise no screen function.
She is now trying to find a new phone, but definitely NOT a Samsung. This S7 Edge has already had the screen replaced once, just before the first year warranty ran out, as it did almost the same thing - in March the green striping (plus pink) appeared along one edge and the battery was running out very fast, the phone overheating so much that she found it uncomfortable to hold. We argued with Samsung a lot until they replaced the screen. Something is VERY wrong with this model. She's considering an LG. What a waste of money. One would expect a thousand dollar phone to last longer than this.
I am facing what I think to be the same issue with my son's phone. Green line down right side edge. Screen turns on for a second, then black screen. It's on, but can't do anything. Did you find a fix for this?
No. Today I gave up and took my wife's S7 Edge to the authorized repair centre. They say they'll run a diagnostic for $25, and if the screen needs to be replaced it will cost $385. Brilliant. If this thing gets fixed I will be running custom ROMs on the phone, probably an RR, as it seems Samsung's OTA updates kill phones.
Turned in out the authorized repair centre for our region, Acura in Surrey, BC, went ahead with the screen replacement without our authorization. I specifically said in a note given to them at the time that they were to ask first. But they didn't bother. My wife decided she liked the phone enough to pay over $400 to get it back. It's been working for a few weeks now. Hope it stays working. At this point I have a strong feeling that the S7 Edge was a poorly made device, at least some batches. The reports of these screen failures are just too common.
Check if your screen still alive or maybe connected correctly, here is a way to do it:
1- plug it in your computer then start smart switch
2- dail *#7353#
3- you can now test any thing in your phone
4- search for the TSP
5- try now to touch your device screen
If it display in the computer that mean the touch is working but the screen is not
If the toch is not working you have to check the cables if its connected correctly inside your phone
But if you have warranty don't waste your time and let them fix it, and don't forget to backup your files

is it a hardware issue?
It's a brand new phone. Can you contact OnePlus for support or an RMA?

I did, i am waiting for the respond
Something weird like that happened to me with the twilight app on my axon 7, but a reboot fixed it.. ??
There have been times with my past 5 phones where if I go below 15 percent battery the screen shuts off but the phone is still active.. Can get into recovery mode fine. Factory resets/clean install even with all same apps always fixed it. ?
Beyond that, I would definitely look into that RMA.
hello,
i have the same problem at oneplus 5t do you figure out solution :'(
