Hi there.
So I'm using N6P for a year now and updated to 7.1.2 is I'm not mistaken . My N6P is fully stock with locked bootloader , no tweaking etc.
Was casually browsing through my phone suddenly it restarted and into went into a bootloop. I can only access the bootloader. I have tried going into recovery mode which just starts the loop over again.
I have researched just about everything and tried a lot . I just cant seem to get it working .
I really want my personal data on it , its quite important . If there isn't any more choice, then I will be forced to wipe it but until then any suggestions? Please help , thanks .
By the way , my warranty just expired a week ago so luck is surely not on my side .

Sorry to hear about that. I had the same problem with my modded 6p and had a full backup on my pc and was still under warranty so it worked out fine for me. Unfortunately for you you are most likely not going to be able to fix it even from wiping it. I had the same problem and because I had an unlocked bootloader I was able to do much more than you could with flashing stock images. If you can't enter recovery then you most likely have a brick and can't fix it. I'm not sure if there is a way via adb and fastboot commands with a locked bootloader to retrieve data but I'll let you know ow if I find one. What kind of data do you have? Google usually syncs things like your photos and apps downloaded will be saved in the google play store. I hope this helped?

Yeah I've tried countless things but it all comes down to me not being able to access recovery. Please do let me know if you do find one thanks . I have some very important docs as well as images in it that I need it badly . I disabled that sync feature as it took very long (for me) to back up all the media. Guess it was a big mistake ....

I don't , its off by default ? I took a look at that page and tried it , when I fastboot devices , it can detect , but when I adb devices the list is empty .
I'm experiencing boot loop also. It won't boot into recovery. Only bootloader. I'm completely stumped.

Bootloop here too
Just tried to upgrade 7.1.1 (unlocked usb debugging enabled) to 7.1.2 using Skipsoft Toolkit. Upon reboot, it just keeps going thru the graphic animation. When I connect it it says 7.1.1 detected.
I am going to try again to upgrade it. Seems like it's working. problem is it says detected system is 6.0.1 now.
Hey, it also says it takes a while for the first boot, so I may have gotten all 21st century and impatient on it.
I also tried a factory reset after freaking out that I had laid a brick...
At least with the skipsoft toolkit I was able to communicate with it!
Here's hoping!

Well, although I can get to twrp, I am unable to do anything else. I can't find any clues that are up to date and it's a bummer
Didn't need to be a TWRP expert; just booted into recovery mode, selected the latest factory stock image and flashed it. back to a working nexus 6p and all i gotta do is re-root it, edit the build.prop to enable wifi hotspot (I'm on ATT) and all is groovy. Muchos props to mark and skipsoft toolkit!
Yesterday I also got a bootloop. My smartphone hovered and went into reboot. So it did not boot. It reboots. In the recovery he does not go.
Same here but with stock recovery
I am in the same exact situation. No root, everything stock and warranty expired a week ago. Coincidence..?
I have been able to enter the stock Recovery Mode, but from there I can't execute adb commands, only list devices and sideload..
is there anything else i could do from Recovery Mode ?
Thanks

Yes. If you haven't wiped/factory reset yet, you can load a newer OTA image from Recovery. Same or older OTA will not work. Set the device to update from ADB and then send it from PC. If you have wiped the phone, obviously the OTA won't work. This will work with a locked bootloader and no usb debugging enabled.

I am looking unlock and root my European Axon 7 running Android 7.1, and all of the guides seem to be for The US version and for Android marshmallow, do I need to revert my phone to an older version (if so how would I go around doing so?). Is there any up to date guides for rooting my version of the phone?

I used this guide 2 weeks ago to unlock my wife's german axon 7, her phone was on 7.1 stock too, but no issue, you don't have to be on marshmallow. Only advice I can give you is to read the guide 2 times or more and take your time.
Btw after you done everything use the b05 modem, my wife has no call issues with this version. I flashed the dark rom to her phone, works nearly perfect.

Why though? I also used that one, but you should try axon7toolkit. It seemingly does everything automatically and with an ok CMD interface

Yes that's a nice option too, but reading, understanding and knowing what you're doing always works. I'm not a fan of Kit's.
personal choice I think. But you're right.

It seems like very few people actually use the kit. Kinda defeats the purpose.
But yeah, that guide was how I learnt how to install TWRP via axon7tool whenever I needed it.

Step by Step, I managed to unlock it and flash the bootstack, but I hit an error when trying to flash LOS and so decided to reboot the system and try again, however when rebooting the system I got the error "Your device software can't be checked for corruption, Please lock the bootloader". And I cant seem to access TWRP anymore, just the stock recovery.
Im just wondering if I can just flash stock because I cant use my phone at all atm

Then flash twrp again, if your on stock recovery. You need twrp. Something must replaced twrp with the stock recovery.
After you flashed twrp use the files from the official Los thread
Bootloader and modem.

Unfortunately I cant seem to view the phone as an adb device, unless i select the "Apply update from adb" option in the stock recovery, however this only lets me sideload and i cant reboot it to edl mode or anything like that to install TWRP.
What happens if you are on stock recovery and type adb reboot edl. Another way to get to edl mode can be to shut down the phone and press both volume keys while connecting the USB cable, I read that somewhere here, may need some trys.
Btw,
"Your device software can't be checked for corruption" this is normal if your unlocked.

Good, you did it. Yes, after you flashed the latest official twrp,
flash the bootloader zip and modem zip which are linked at the first page of the Los thread, then your prefered rom with gapps and root if you like.
DON'T relock your bootloader !!!
Have fun!
Hi,
I was really unhappy with Pie and tried to prepare my device for Oreo downgrade.
What I did was
- unlock bootloader
- tried to install TWRP
- mixed something up in that processs
- realized TWRP cannot be installed apparently on Pie right now
- MiFlash seems to be not working as well when trying to install stock rom (says flashing but nothing happens)
Well Pie is running right now, but when trying to lock the bootloader again for future updates, the phones is only showing a black screen.
After that I am trying to unlock bootloader again (fastboot oem unlock) and everything works again, except when I try to boot into recovery ("the system is destroyed" or something like that).
Trying to "hotboot" into TWRP currently is also not working, "unable to mount..." and after that automatically reboots into the system itself.
Any idea how I can either put a standard Pie installation with working recovery and locked bootloader on?
Or how I can maybe install Oreo instead? As I said, the MiFlash tool doesn't do anything (tells me "flashing" but actually doesn't do anything).
Thanks for your help!

can you explain us the procedures that you have followed to downgrade. It would be really helpful. i have tried this
method but it didn't work for me. i am facing IMEI 0/no signal issues using this method.
Thanks
well I have done a lot of stuff that made my phone not working anymore because using a wrong .img file and didn'T understand the tutorial (same link you have provided) fully.
But at the end it was quite close to the link you have sent, the MiFlash tool I needed for example to try like 10 times per step until it worked, maybe a bad cable - I don't know.
But finally it was working, after March update without network signal, but with /boot & /efs partitions and Nov fastboot image, it was working.
If you need any more detail for a specific step, you can of course ask and I can check if there was anything special I can remember

Are your imei & mac same as original? won't the imei/mac get affected by restoring someone else efs?
I don't know about mac, but imei is ok
I unlocked my bootloader, then tried to flash TWRP through fastboot but that's where something weird happened. It flashed successfully, but the next time I booted my device into recovery, the stock recovery came up. So I flashed TWRP again.
Then I flashed the decrypt.zip and Magisk.zip, and the zip to enable camera2api. And rebooted device, only to notice that my WiFi just isn't turning on. And it's been a mess since then. (My device did get rooted though)
So I tried booting my device, and there comes up Google's device setup which NEEDS internet access, and I realised my WiFi isn't turning on.
I tried everything. Wiping data, cache, factory reset, even tried flashing stock ROM again but it gave an error saying:
"This file is for device "xxxxxx" while your device is " " "
It just said " ", nothing. So I realised I can't even flash ROMs now.
But hours later I managed to get past the device setup by (recharging and) using mobile data, and realised my IP Address was showing as N/A and WiFi MAC Address as 02.00:00:00:00:00
After another loads of hours, I managed to fix my IP Address thanks to a thread on XDA, but the MAC still remains that way.
So after hours of research, now at 4AM, I came to the conclusion that I gotta use BusyBox and Terminal Emulator to change it.
But now, what do I set my MAC Address to? How do I find my original Address? Is that even possible?
Need help on this ASAP, please.
Thanks in advance.

Wait, it's messed up again damnitttt
I used the Pie AFT, the 059 one. And now my phone just isn't booting, it shows the "boot loader is unlocked" warning (which it shouldn't? as AFT re-locks the bootloader, no?), shows the Android, ASUS logo and switches off
Man how do I fix this now
I was trying to get to Pie so that I can flash Havoc OS then. Please help
I might be able to get back to the 340 using AFT again, but then how do I update to Pie without using AFT? I'm still new to this, please help
Edit:
Also, this time the AFT just suddenly closed after (apparently) completing its process, and it didn't take as long as it took when flashing the 340. And my phone was still in Fastboot mode. So when I rebooted my phone, it surprisingly asked for a password. I didnt enter anything and it said Invalid Password, and I restarted my device and since then it's just not booting up.
Edit 2:
Wait it seems I made a really stupid mistake, my drive ran out of space, so I think the AFT couldn't extract the zip file completely.
I'm now trying it from another drive with space. Hopefully this time it'll all work fine

Hi all -
I have two US996 phones.
Luckily, my primary phone is fine (rooted stock Oreo ROM)
The "backup" phone was previously bootloader-unlocked and also had TWRP and a stock-rooted Oreo ROM on it - but not yet set up; it booted to the welcome/setup routine.
Well, I did a "full" Nandroid backup of my primary phone (TWRP 3.3.1.0) using the beta feature supposedly allowing backup of data as well as the internal storage and wanted to see if it really did fully restore the phone without need for re-entering all of the passwords and other info for all of the apps. So, I tried to restore it to my backup phone.
Well...I screwed up and apparently didn't do an adequate wipe before flashing. Now, the backup phone is bootlooping with a message saying something like "your phone failed a security test and will not boot". I am not able to get into recovery at all.
I am able to get into fastboot mode, and on "fastboot getvar all", I see that the bootloader has been re-locked!! So, of course, trying to unlock it via fastboot doesn't work, since I am not able to get into developer mode to re-enable OEM unlock...any way to re-unlock it and get into TWRP?
Looked at Medusa Flasher, which is supposedly free (1.1.0.1) but when I try to use it I get "card not found" and it won't open, and the file needed to fix this isn't available. It also appears that it's only good for Sony and HTC phones anyway, and some serious hardware dissection is necessary.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Flashing a kdz would be your best option right now. It's safer to start from a rock-solid base

Flashed the Stock Oreo KDZ. Thanks! phone boots now....but I can't unlock the bootloader in the usual way (using the unlock.bin file from LG) because somehow the IMEI number got nulled - all zeroes.
Edit:
Got the IMEI fixed with this method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/help/us996-imei-null-0s-how-fix-t3876980 - and now the bootloader magically became unlocked.
Now to flash TWRP and a rooted image and all should be well.
Thanks again, Landloord!

Sure
Hmmmm....couldn't find the file anywhere on my phone or the computer. I unlocked the bootloader on that phone when I first got it four years ago.
