this has probably already been discussed before, but 1) i can't find clear answers and 2) I'd like to have the info at one spot (here).
I will be ordering a A2017G. Can i use Flashing/Rooting/Unlocking/Roms/Kernels made for A2017U? Or is there a risk of bricking the A2017G?
Any experiences?

1- the easiest variant to unlock Bootloader and root is the US variant (A2017U).
2- CM is base on the US Variant, but this DOESN'T mean will be only for that variant.
P.S. I'm using the US variant (A2017U) and i live in the USA.

H870DS? Nope, no root for this model. Only for the European H870.
Regarding the TWRP thread maybe the dev asked to mods to close it as some users had problems, who knows...
hi i bought a H870S model but i didnt find any help for root i tryed kingroot and kingoroot both failed plz help....

We can't root H870S. Not yet.
G6 variants other than H870 and US997 are impossible to unlock at the moment and probably will never be unlockable.
Is there a root and rom also applicable for the 918DS ?
I'm planning to buy it, but have not found yet a root option explicitly for the 918DS

No such thing as a 918ds, there's a h990ds, and there's an h918. H990ds is an international dual SIM variant, while the H918 is a US T-Mobile (single sim) variant. They're both rootable and both have dedicated threads.
