In the recent apps viewer, I can see at the bottom that there is always about 1,95GB of 3GB of ram free.. I was asking, is it possible to make the apps use more ram in the background for faster loading and will this use more battery?

Not that I know if but if you did want to do that it would take a lot of time and heavy modifications how the phone uses ram etc but for now you can try going into Dev mode (tap build number 7 times) go to the bottom and click "background process limit" and set it to 4 but if you run out of ram or close to running out the phone stops the app.

Recently I found something interesting and would like to share here see any Hi-Tech people can make a software to fix the memory leaking in WM OS.
When I first start my machine, my Ram is about 25.5mb and then will drop down to around 24 something mb. I used different software to try to recover as much as RAM including Oxios and eLiAs AutoHibernate.
Recently I start to use Vito GoodWin I found that every time when I use the dialer pad no matter I make or not make a phone call, my Ram will drop down a bit. When I open the GoodWin, I can see the "Phone" is still running. After I close the "Phone" in GoodWin and close GoodWin and back to Today destop. I found that my Ram will go up to 26.6mb. How come? Is it any chance to find out why and may someone can make a software Like Oxios but can take more Ram back.
Hope someone can do it for US. Cheers
memory leakage
hey dude this is not memory leakage actually whenever u run anything on the pocketpc or a cell phone or a computer it uses the resources of the device that is it uses the RAM memory(memory used for running the programs on a computer, pocketpc).
And as it is all the programs, codes, scripts are actually lines and machine codes which get compiled and executed and hence they use the memory of the device to run and hence the RAM memory is used.
For example if u run multiple programs at a time then it drains your RAM memory and hence the result is slow processing of your device hence there is no such way that you can avoid the RAM usage so even when u start your dialer it consumes the RAM do not worry about the RAM usage its normal.
And about the programs you mentioned they are just to shift the memory usage and yet when you start your dialer the specified and required amount of RAM will be used.
To make it more clear for u just go to the task manager of your computer (by pressing alt+ctrl+del all together) and then click on the performance tab
now minimize the task manager and just open a folder or any program and check your task manager the RAM usage might have definitely increased..
Its the same funda with your pocketpc and mobile phones..
its called...ram...basic computing...just like any computer..its shortterm memory used to run programs...the more u open the less u have...maybe u should search up basic computing terms like ram for a further explanation
Memory leaking is real and especially noticeable on windows mobile.
What happens is that memory is allocated for use by programs but then not released when the application is finished doing its job. A combination of complexity and lazy programming is often the cause.
The end result is a gradual drop in available memory, regardless of whether you have any applications still open. The only way to make that memory available is a soft-reset.
Suggest you look carefully at which applications leak the most and avoid them. It can be one or two culprits that you can live without.
My phone (Verizon SMT5800, running Windows Mobile 6 Standard) is bad about memory leaks. I have to reboot it at least once a day to recover memory, sometimes several times in one day. On one occasion, it got down to about 2 MB free and wouldn't even run the reset command. I had to reset it by taking the battery out.
See here and tweak if necessary !! http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms911907.aspx

^ Thats the only thing that works for me
autohibernate works really well
SKTools FreeUP RAM
SKTools FreeUP Ram works well. Use it a couple times a day. Eventually have to soft reset though, maybe every couple of days. Have to buy it of course, not free. But it prolongs the duration between soft resets.
The newest SKTools has an additional service for automatic FreeUP Ram, after every app-closing. Just try it
Is there a way to find out which application is causing the memory leak?
I don't think, that there is a real memory leak.
For example Windows Mobile has a file cache which is not filled yet after a fresh softreset. While you use your device this gets filled until the required amount of memory is being used for it.
If more and more memory is consumed each time the dialpad is used, as described, then there is a memory leak. Nothing else can explain that. You should check with your rom chief.
Thanks, works great!

I just upgraded my version of SKTools to get the latest FreeUP RAM Service feature. Very nice. Automatically frees unused RAM.
Thanks for the hint.

Thanks for the detail reply. Actually what I want to say is after I turn the phone on the ram is start dropping. I just take a sample like after you use the phone the ram would drop about a mb. Of course we know that it is not leaking. My point is after I closed the software and use some software to recover the RAM like Oxios. You can get some RAM back, but my case is when I after make a phone call and turn the dialer pad off. I wouldn't see any software running at task manager also if I use Oxios I just claim about half to one MB RAM back. When I turn GoodWin on in this point I can see the "Phone" still running at GoodWin. I stop the "Phone" at GoodWin and than turn GoodWin off, I found that I could recover 2 - 3mb RAM. That's mean for me is when GoodWin turn this software "Phone" off and could claim more RAM back than Oxios. So could we use the way GoodWin do to make a software claim more RAM back? If you don't get what I say, just try to download GoodWin from the net and try to play around than you can see what happen. Sometime it even make me have more RAM than just after softreset.

What is best RAM cleaner for Android 4.3? My RAM is always about 700-800 MB (I play games, watch videos, use facebook so everything what is eat the RAM) on my S4. But after I reboot my phone it is about 1200 MB. So how can I fully clear the RAM without a reboot?
your system is cleaning RAM so you don't have to think about it..................best cleaner is no cleaner at all :good:
^^^^
Couldn't agree more.
Those apps are designed to Hoover money from suckers. Android manages RAM just fine itself; it doesn't like 'free' RAM. Thing is people are used to Windows managing RAM badly/not releasing RAM when programs are exited/etc, so when they see low free RAM in Android they think they need to free some up/use an app to do this.
If you constantly free RAM up in Android, rather than having apps ready to go based on your usage patterns which Android does normally, it has to start apps completely from scratch, and you will end up using more battery long run as a result.

As mentioned above the system is designed to manage RAM itself by freeing up as and when required. But if you want to quickly refresh you could use the built-in task manager (hold home button) to close all open apps. Theres also Greenify (search play store) which hibernates apps and prevents them from running constantly in the background using up resources, its not as harsh as a "RAM cleaner" as it works more with the way processes and services are handled by android.
And just a command?

Use a program like Android System Info to find what programs are running. If you are rooted just freeze the apps that are safe to freeze and you see running in the background.

am already using Greenfiy and Battery Doctor .. !
Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't Android utilize ram differently then most systems. Isn't free ram wasted ram in this case.
What I have been told is that the Android OS loads apps into memory as a way to speed up processing and increase battery life and automatically empties this ram when more ram is needed. This is done to optimize performance and battery life.
So even if you might not use a certain app, its still left in memory incase u do use it and to avoid random increases in processing power decreasing overall battery life.

You're RAM usage is perfectly fine
what happen with the ram usage ? Is so normally .
Remember , android os system is a multitasking os.
So when you close the program it not totally close , still running in background .
Replace Touchwiz with Apex or Nova launcher, and kill as much bloatware as possible.
Touchwiz alone is 600MB.

Yes, Android manages memory different way and it's stupid way to put it mildly. Unless I manually go and kill useless applications, they take up memory and many of those apps I never used and never ever will. And no matter what anybody tells you it takes time to clear memory for new programs to load and defragment it. Primary reason I had to root my phone to fix this idiocy and freeze or delete all the bloat since I was tired to force stop dozens of apps after each reboot. I won't even go into all other issues like when those programs run in the background wasting battery, use internet, or wake the phone from deep sleep.
And how on Earth loading and running never used apps in background optimizes performance and battery life?
Part of the reason they do that is "just in time" compilation, another stupid idea, which they just tried to fix in KK.
Just like others suggested OP could root and freeze/delete all the garbage he doesn't use and surprise, surprise the phone will run faster and battery will last longer.
You don't need to root to remove most of the bloatware. I didn't, and mine averages around 1.2GB in use with Firefox, Facebook, Whatsapp, LWP, Zooper, Twitter and Gmail open. It boots to 700MB in use.
how can I ?

No point
Android will free ram if needed and ram cleaners and anti-viruses often mess this up

]May i ask why you need the RAM? Its android operating system after all if program requires more RAM the system will free enough. You have 1gb free which is more than enough. If you want to free more install some ram killer/cleaner like Clean Master,or uninstall some apps that you dont use. cheers :highfive:
thanks for answers
but it's about the battery, I wanna keep the phone on as much time as I can without needing to charge it
and I thought that all these running apps are consuming the battery and reducing its lifetime
Actually, having apps in the RAM saves battery. It's more battery-consuming to have to read the apps into RAM every time you want to use them. Better have them preloaded in the RAM and always ready-to-use.
They aren't 'running' in the background, but more like 'hibernating'.
If you really want to make sure no apps are consuming data and such in the background, then use Stamina Mode. Also checking which apps are allowed to automatically sync data is one way to go.
So my S7 edge is usually consuming 2.5 - 3 GBs of RAM and I don't even have many background apps running apart from the usual (FB, Whatsapp, Instagram, etc).
Does anyone know how to reduce RAM usage on this device? On my Z3 running stock Amdroid, the RAM usage used to be about 1.3GBs (out of 3GBs RAM). Touchwiz seems to take so much RAM for no reason!

You dont need to reduce. The way android works best is filling up the unused space with cached programs.

That is how Android works. In Android, free RAM is wasted RAM.
It fills RAM with apps, so that they open quickly and can be switched back and forth quickly.
Do NOT try to clear RAM, as Android will just fill it back up, and you'll use more battery in the process.

I know that, but that leaves less RAM for other apps to use, so if I have many apps running in background (FB, Whatsapp, Snapchat, Instagram, Inbox, Messenger, etc), they become slow or when I resume them, they have to start again instead of actually resuming. So I was looking for a way to reduce RAM usage so I have more RAM for the apps I use and less RAM for all the Touchwiz/Samsung crap.

Settings > battery > App power saving might help.
otherwise let Android manage it's own RAM.
