I flashed a custom rom called pf2 in this thread and it was outdated and my phone is broken. Blue screen with white error symbol and below saying "An error has occurred while updating the device software" "Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software" but it says my device is not supported in smart switch. Please help!!! Galaxy s7 AT&T flat (g930a)

@FreshIce21 post how you fixed it, for those that may have this trouble in the future..
Went into download mode and flashed stock. I thought I couldn't get into download mode so that's y I panicked, sorry.

Phone bricked need help to try revive it [N910F]

SOLVED: Follow the instructions in this link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/note-4-debrick-img-t3488114
Following a Factory Reset through the settings on my N910F the phone appears to have bricked. It won't enter Download or Recover Modes. When plugged into the PC or wall the phone will turn on with the following onscreen:
ODIN MODE (HIGH SPEED)
PRODUCT NAME SM-N910F
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
REACTIVATION LOCK: Off
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1 (1)
QUALCOMM SECURE BOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
AP SWAEV: S1, T1, R1, A1, P1
SECURE DOWNLOAD: ENABLE
UDC START
Following this there's a diagram of a phone, a yellow warning triangle and a computer monitor connected by dots.
Then it says:
"Firmware upgrade encountered and issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
I installed Kies and plugged in the phone but got an error message saying:
"The connected device is not supported by Kies 3. Check which devices are supported and try again."
So I went and found this video here and gave it a shot:
youtube[DOT]com/watch?v=Jfgq6bYfKLg
I downloaded the "ALLSUMSUNGRECOVERY-TECHBOYZ.IN.tar" file. Loaded up Odin with the phone plugged in.
I added the .tar file through the AP button in Odin and then pressed start. Odin log:
<ID:0/003> Added!!
<ID:0/003> Odin engine x(ID:3.1203)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
Then Odin just sits indefinitely on "file analysis". No change on the phone screen. Still showing that same message.
Has anyone any suggestions on where to go next?
EDIT: For anyone struggling with a similar issue please refer to this post. It resolved my issue almost entirely (putting the phone in the freezer genuinely works, as crazy as it sounds)

Okay so I read some other people's troubleshooting posts and found some people suggesting I try recover the firmware using SmartSwitch so I downloaded and installed that.
When I plugged the phone into the PC, SmartSwitch said my device wasn't supported so I found this
sebertech[DOT]com/2016/01/how-to-fix-smart-switch-error.html
and followed the instructions. It downloaded the relevant files and installed them on the device (The loading bar appeared on the phone screen while this happened). When it reached 100% Smart Switch told me to unplug the device and plug it back in. I unplugged the phone, plugged it back in and now I'm getting the familiar Note 4 splash screen:
"Samsung GALAXY Note 4"
"Power by Android"
There's nothing in the top left and I let it sit like this for about 10 minutes. Nothing new came up on Smart Switch.
I unplugged the phone and the device powered off. Can't turn the phone on with the power button or enter Recovery or Download mode using their respective 3 button combos. When I plug the phone back into the USB cable I get the splash screen again but it just sits there. It isn't going to the generic Samsung splash animation that usually follows or bootlooping. Just sitting there. I've left it for a further 15 minutes. I'm just going to leave it for now and maybe something will happen.
Is there anything else I can do here?
Okay so literally as I posted the last reply the screen changed to the little 3D Green Android with the blue dodecahedron-like shape spinning in it's belly and it's ears/feelers twitching. It says
"Installing system updates".
Nothing else so far, no loading bar or any other activity onscreen but it's progress.
It sat on that "Installing system updates" page for about 3-5 minutes and then I got the stock recovery screen with the following info (I can't post photos because I'm not a regular enough user of this site yet):
Android Recovery
MMB29M.N910FXXS1DQA1
samsung.trltexx/trlte
6.0.1/MMB29M/N910FXXS1DQA1
user/release-keys
Use volume up/down and power. (This was actually in yellow but yellow doesn't show up well on a white background)
Reboot system now
Reboot to bootloader
Apply update from ADB
Apply update from SD card
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Mount /system
View recovery logs
Power off
Supported API: 3
E:failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
E:failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
E:failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
dm-verity verification failed...
I don't know what this means but at least it's some stuff I might be able to Google for some help.
Okay so I selected the "Power Off" option from that stock recovery page just to see what would happen.
The screen went off and came on again almost immediately after with the "installing system updates" page again. I unplugged the phone from the USB cable while this was happening to see if it did anything. The phone sat on that screen for 10 minutes and then powered off (possibly because the battery ran flat. It's hard to know what status the battery is at considering I can't see how charged the device is).
I couldn't get any response out of the device after this. Nothing pressing power or trying to enter Recovery/Download Mode.
I plugged the phone back into the USB and the "Galaxy NOTE 4" splash screen returned and it's been at that for about 10 minutes now.
I'm thinking maybe if it goes through the whole process again of splash screen -> installing system updates -> stock recovery error message maybe I can get it into download mode from there and try follow the steps of this guide to resolve the /efs mout failure thing.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/how-to-fix-efailed-to-mount-efs-invalid-t2858056
(just as I was typing that it got to the "Installing system update..." page again.
It looks like you've wiped your partitions (emf stuff).
Don't give up, you're very close - but you have a lot of reading to do. Your phone is not bricked. Search restoring partitions in the Note 4 forums .
This happened to me, I just installed root again with Odin and the phone booted after this.

Unfortunately the most painful part of all here is that I cannot get the phone into Download Mode whatsoever.
When plugged into the USB the phone switches on and goes through the 3 screen process (Galaxy Note 4 splash screen -> "installing system updates" -> stock recovery with errors)
Phone won't respond to getting into Download mode or doing anything bar these three steps.

Any advice?
I don't think you need to go into download to restore partitions....I think it's all ADB, efs and the correct files. I think. I've seen it somewhere. It's a lot of work but it's there.
Somewhere you interupted a firmware installation or something. It sounds like it was the last time you unplugged.
Sorry don't know enough to help further but I have seen it out there.
I would pm the moderator and ask. Don't give up yet. The Note 4 can take a real beating and a lot of work has been done!
Onward. Pm the moderator.

Unable to mount efs and DM verity verification failed is corrupt efs. Can be hard to revive.
Try getting into download mode, when you get to download mode quote me and I'll help you carry on

Hey dude,
Basically through a lot of troubleshooting last night I managed to get the device back working.
I followed this guide on here which helped me debrick the device (attempting to flash a stock ROM bricked it completely) and then I flashed their recovery firmware and it came back to life.
The device is still suffering from the lagging and freezing issue and I had to install Wake Lock onto the phone to get it to work properly but at least it is working again.

Heh...heh.
Did you have to freeze your phone?!
Excellent. I would suggest you just go back to stock, upgrade to Marshallow and enjoy the phone.
Everyone has their preference though! I got tired, got the phone to the best stock state I could and I'm a very happy man.
I have a feeling this sort of thing is going to become rarer and rarer over the next five years.
Alphabet is king, Google is changing, Android is locking down.
I'm keeping my note forever.
Unfortunately I'm back to having some trouble with the device. I tried to flash the phone with 6.0.1
First with N910FXXS1DQA2 and then N910FXXS1DPD3 but both failed and I could only get into Download Mode

I tried to go back to the Recovery Firmware guide
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/note-4-debrick-img-t3488114/
and flash the device with the AP, BL, CP, CSC and Pit from that thread. It failed.
Tried it without the CSC. Failed
Tried ticking "Nand Erase All" under options in Odin. Failed.
The phone is back in the freezer to see if I can get it recovered again. Luckily I can get it into Download now so all is not lost.

Soft brick on a FRP S6 edge + (SM-G928f)

I have a FRP S6 Edge + and I tried to bypass this security lock folowing some totorials online. They didn't work because I assume Samsung already patched the software accordingly. I don't know what version is installed on the phone but I assume is running on Nougat since my attempts to bypass the security lock failed. So I've decided to downrade...
I've tried downgrading with Odin to 5.1.1 but it failed from the begining of the procedure and soft briked the phone.
Now it is displaying the following message: "An error has occured while updating thge device software. use the Emergency recovery function in the SmartSwitch PC software."
I can enter in download mode but I cannot install nothing with Odin. I've tried 5.1.1 firmware and 6.0.1 but it fails from the start. I've also tried 5.1.1 repair firmware package (4 files) but same, it fails. The only firmware that starts running on Odin was the latest 7.0 firmware but it also failed somwhere at 80-90%.
What now?
hey bud - i had this 2 days ago - luckily i sdorted it - its because you put oem locking off when you had a custom rom
what you got to do is - get serial number from back of se6+ or where ever it is - load smartswitch on your computer -
load it up and go to tools - emergency inatallation - put model number - ( this might fail - come out refresh your desktop and go back in )
then put serial number in the second box - it downloads the stock rom - but at least your in to start again -
it took me a whole day of worry and play just becasue you flick over the oen butoon -
try the above - it will work buddy
If not look for Bear on telegram and pm me and we will go through it together
Odin wont help you on this - you need smart switch from the samsung website - i install 5.11 - 6.0.1 - 7.0. lol - smart switch goes via your serial number and pulls the exact rom and recory system - cache - everything to fix your phone - good luck - you will sort it bud -
Bear

Samsung galaxy s6 plus - No Support SINGLE-SKU Supported API: 3 dm-verity error...

Hi everyone,
I am having a problem with my Samsung galaxy s6 edge plus. The phone was working perfectly before I switched it off a couple of months ago. I tried to switch it back on few days ago, but it stuck in Boot loop and the logo stays on the screen until the battery is empty. I tried do factory reset and wipe cache partition, then got this message 'No Support SINGLE-SKU Supported API: 3 dm-verity error...'. Both wipe cache partition and factory reset were successful, but I am still unable to pass the boot loop. I know people have already raised similar problem, but my case is different my phone has never been tempered with in a shape or form (no flash, rooting e.t.c). I need help please. Thanks

Soft-brick? How to fix "An Error Occurred While Updating The Device Software" Galaxy Tab A SM-T510

Hi,
When trying to flash TWRP, the cable disconnected and the device (Galaxy Tab A SM-T510) shows this error : "An Error Occurred While Updating The Device Software"
Samsung SmartSwitch doesn't seem to work on PC and Mac OS.
FRP Hijacker doesn't show the SM-T510 device in the list.
What can I do to undo the soft brick ?
Thanks.
Hi, Old post I realise, but wondered if you found a solution. I've just had the same issue and even though I've recovered from this error before, I can't remember what I did!
