Let me know if you have any questions on it. I'll have some accessory reviews etc in the next few days!

How are the preinstalled widgets? LG seemed to hype up its calendar.
How much can you customize the nav buttons? I remember the G3 having different button visual styles in addition to being able to rearrange the buttons.
How much other customization can you do? Things like the app drawer, themes, etc.
Digging around in settings what can you find that LG isn't pushing as hard??
Do you have a comprehensive list of all the preinstalled apps, from LG, T-Mobile, and others?

Almost all these questions are answered in the video
on your list ...
First, is this pre-production sample shipping with a locked bootloader? (T Mob was the only US variant unlocked with the G3)
Second, what is useable as a screen protector?

But I chose those questions only after watching the video. You mentioned most of those, but I was asking for more detail on them than was provided in the video.
I'd love to see it side by side to a G2. I love the size of the G2. A coworker had a G3 and I don't know about 1 handed use. Another coworker has a S5. Either would work. I am trying to get a rough visual.
How does the leather feel? I know it's real leather, but is it a stiffer or softer leather?
I thought the G4 doesn't have wireless built-in since you have to buy a separate case to use it. (or even a receiver you can plop on top of the battery, which is how I can use wireless charging on my Samsung Galaxy S3. Though, no idea, if the G4 will have that option.) Everywhere that I've seen specs for it say that it doesn't come with that out of the box.
How is the user experience? I remember trying out the G3 and I didn't like how the experience was. It seemed cluttered to me, which isn't say much since Samsung's Touchwiz can be the same way, but I thought it was fine on the S3, compared to the S4 and S5, which I didn't like it as much. Did LG improve on their UI from the G3 to G4?
What are your thoughts on the camera? I know LG hyped that camera SOO much, so I need to see some real-world pics and such. On paper, it sounds great, but curious how it actually performs.

If the G3 being able to add wireless charging with the quickwindow case meant it had the pins that allowed a wireless charging sticker to be added underneath the plastic back, I'm guessing the fact that the G4 has a quickwindow case with wireless charging means it's only a matter of time before someone makes a wireless charging sticker for the G4.

LG World has tons of free themes, fonts etc. You can still change the soft keys like the G3, also has the option for white or black background.
I can get you a list of the apps, if you pause the video on that part you can see them all. It's 9 T-Mobile apps, plus most Google apps and that's it.

I don't personally much like the leather, it's not hard or soft; can't really explain it. It feels nice, just not my cup of tea. I might check out the black leather back. But I did like the grayish one with diamond pattern.
The G4 has wireless charging, but I think you need to buy the back for it like I had to do on the G3. It was ~$20 for the original one from LG.
The UI is cluttered by default, but you can make it into a list and make it less cluttered. I like it much better after that.
The camera is actually pretty amazing. I'll be posting pictures on Instagram/Twitter if you want to follow, same as my handle here. I know they get somewhat compressed, so I may start another thread with camera samples if you guys want that!
I think the round back would piss me off when using the phone while it is laying down on its back. I very often use one hand to double tap to wake, flip through notifications, send quick replies, double tap off. With a rounded back, can you type one handed while it is on a desk? Or does it rock back and forth? Seems like it would also slip off my lap while driving easier because the contact area is less.
And Qi charging is a requirement of any phone of mine. I have a sweet setup at home and work (Nexus 7 2013 and Verizon G2). Can you confirm? I'd hate a "qi backplate" because those typically add additional thickness and disallows feather cases like Incipio Feather from fitting.

I can type with one hand just fine, but it is round & moves when on the table. But it's not a huge deal to me, but that may be a deal breaker for some.
The Qi back for the G3 didn't add any bulk & thin cases fit just fine. I'll have some cases up tomorrow though!

Yeah, that's my current setup with the S3. But, that still means you have to buy something to actually be able it. It's not like phones like the S6 where you can literally put it straight out of the box and plop it onto a wireless charger and it'll start charging.

Yeah, I was wondering if colors would be exclusive, depending on the carrier. I've seen promos that T-Mobile is the only carrier that'll have the brown one you currently have. I remember seeing the black leather one for AT&T, but no idea if it's exclusive or not.
Ah okay, so it is like my S3 then, where you have to buy something separate to actually get use of the wireless charging since it's not enabled by default. Lil annoying, since I would prefer it enabled right out of the box, but it's not a deal breaker. I only even bought the receiver for the S3 because the charging port has gotten rather finicky, so it's buying time before I actually upgrade later this year.
I'd love to see some camera samples, so feel free to post them here or make a new thread for it. Your call on that.

You could also try getting one of those receivers that you can place on top of the battery (essentially looks like a sticker with some pins). I'm using that for my S3 to help buy some time before upgrading later this year since my charging port is a bit finicky now. Because it goes inside the phone, it really doesn't add any bulk to your device.
From what others have mentioned in this thread, only a matter of time before someone makes one for the G4. Because it's not a case, I'm not sure how fast it'll charge, compared to an actual backplate. It might be slower, but I honestly can't say.

You can get a qi wireless charging sticker for literally five dollars that takes two minutes to install, so it isn't that much of a hassle at all.
Sprint also has the black leather G4. Hopefully T-Mobile's brown leather exclusive expires by the time I get my G4 in November, because I want it.

I'll try you mine if I still have the device haha I get new phones A LOT :x
So does the G3 that ships in the US not have QI charging out of the box?
My G3 came with the QI charge patch built into the original rear cover and I was kinda assuming the G4 would be the same.
Thanks for the great review ... No doubt we will get the G4 here in Australia just before LG releases the G5 to you guys hahaha
Photo attached of the unit that was reviewed in France ... the QI patch is built into their model with the leather rear cover.

I believe that is the NFC antenna, not wireless charging. The impression LG gave off with the G4 was that there will be no wireless charging built in and the quickwindow case will be required for wireless charging. This is what they were saying for the American release of the G3, but they said the global model of the G3 will have wireless charging. From this, I'd guess the whole world will be in the same wireless charging situation with the G4 like the US was with the G3.

Ah, thanks for the explanation ... that might explain why only two contacts are made out of the 4 available.
I just googled replacement parts for the G3 and the QI and NFC are in the same patch ... but they use all 4 little contacts (on the picture I attached only two of the contacts are showing on the rear case).. At least the G4 has the 4 contacts on the phone so its likely someone will figure a way to replace the NFC with a combined NFC & QI with all 4 contacts.
Seems like a backwards step though
how did you get one already? and do you have to send this unit back after testing or did you win it?
seems to me the only people who got test units were professional reviewers.

I've gone from Note Edge -> S6 Edge+ -> LG V10 -> S7 Edge.
Here are a few quick photos I took.
Post 2 will have speedtests and Post 3 will be benchmarks.
I wish I had done a speedtest for the V10 last night, but I did not think about it.
All benchmarks done with all other apps closed out and terminated, airplane mode, WiFi off, and 100% screen brightness.
Quadrant (only turned WiFi on at end to get results)
AnTuTu (Graphical tests MUCH MUCH smoother on the S7 Edge / Very choppy on the LG V10)
3DMark (Huge difference in FPS)
Tested it out to see how the "Moisture in Charging Port" warning appears.
Thank you. In your opinion which of the phones did you like the best? What's your pros and cons between note edge, v10, and s7 edge?
I ask as I loved the note edge but mine was on the way out and I jumped to the v10. I love the v10 except I got one that overheats and drains battery like crazy. I have had to swap tie phone out twice but other then that I love the v10.

I use my phone a lot. I got the spare battery + microsd deal for the V10 so it helped. I went through 2 or 3 full batteries a day.
I LOVED the Note Edge. I hope they bring it back and I can use my 3rd T-Mobile JUMP to get that later in the year. I have a problem of getting the newest phone out, so I had to ditch it. Out of all the phones I've owned, If they continued the Note Edge line, I'd continue to buy that line only. It had all the greatness of Samsung in 1 phone. If they made one as nice as the Note 5/S7 builds have been + the right edge panel + S-Pen + MicroSD, I don't see myself ever switching to a new phone except when the newer Note Edge came out.
V10 -
I like:
Screen size
Phone size
Grip
Sturdiness (ruggedness?)
Swappable battery.
I don't like -
I never really used the top screen except to check the time at night and there's some serious light bleed in the corner for the second screen
Build seems solid but the materials are more rugged where the S7 Edge screams premium with all the glossiness and glass.
Rear buttons became annoying to me during certain situations
Camera had lot of features in manual mode, but I still couldn't get photos that looked as good as my previous Samsung phones
S7 Edge -
I like:
PREMIUM build
Much brighter/vivid display
Faster, more efficient (newer, so it's expected)
Wireless charging
Camera photo quality even simply using AUTO mode
Better speakers
Waterproof so I won't be hunched over my phone in the rain to prevent droplets from hitting screen
Brought back MicroSD
I don't like:
Can't remove battery (we'll see how battery life is after a few days)
Sides are really thin so you can accidentally be touching the screen with palm or fingers without knowing
Lots of fingerprints
A lot more scared to drop it compared to the V10
These are my initial impressions.
The note edge was the best phone ever and I am dissapointed they have not done another note edge. I would have held onto mine if it wasn't dieing on me. I appreciate the feedback and keep us update on how they compare as you use the s7 edge.

After I got that message, I unplugged it and set it on top of my wireless charger for about 30 minutes. I plugged it back into the phone and it showed "FAST CHARGING" and charged fine.

Interesting. Seems getting the warning is normal, and it should go away after phone dries. My phone just never dried completely, but that may just be my luck.
Good to know, thanks for sharing.
After a few serious issues occurring with my Note 4, i just finished a claim with Assurion and after some back and forth, they offered me the V20 at my request. They couldnt guarantee that it would be brand new or refurbished but it still came with a 1 year warranty.
Im surprised that Assurion stepped up and gave me the phone i wanted. Friggin AT&T just wanted to sell me a new Next 24 or 30 month plan for more than i was paying a month for my note 4. So for $112 deductible Assurion is sending me the V20 and ill continue paying off my old Next 28 plan for the remaining 10 months.
Dam note 4 kept shutting off at 35% battery level ever since the Marshmallow update, screen burn in from extended GPS use, GPS not getting a fix intermittently and the screen separating from one side of the phone (looks heat related to me, as the phone would get pretty dam hot when sitting in the cradle on my dash).
Had the phone for a little over a year and all was fine until the Marshmallow update, then within the last month or so, i noticed these other issues.
Im hoping that i wont miss the S pen much. Only used it to write on pictures once in a great while and hopefully a wireless charging cover will become available.
Any other Note 4 users who made the switch, happy with your V20?
I had a note 4 before my s7 and now have a v20 and honestly the v20 is awesome. much better than both. much faster. no touchwiz lag which idc what people say, is very present on the Verizon s7. either way, it's a really fast phone with a great camera. you'll like it.

Thanks i was reading another thread where someone was complaining about using it in landscape mode while driving and having part of the screen cut off. Have you seen this and are you able to see the dialer when using the phone in landscape mode?
I still have my rooted and tmobile activated n4 and runs strong.
I got v20 and can't live without root. Rooted yesterday, got few apps and runs really fast. Still havent activated yet.
I wish we have good debloaded deodex ROM and working xposed.
It's a tottaly different phone than n4. I have to used to power button at the back. Also one thing buther me I can use kodi in multiwindow view (kodi on the top and browser at the buttom) to fully utilize my screen. Other than that is awesome phone.
Sorry for my EN.
I switched from the Note 4 to the V20. I really really like the V20. The second screen is my favorite thing.
The LCD is fine except the backlight night time use slightly annoys me. However if I am in a room with some external light then the LCD backlight isn't noticeable.

I made a GPS fix in the galaxy note 4 thread. The pins arent making good contact anymore or are oxidized too much. I'm keeping the note 4 for s pen and the camera, when handy. Prefer note4 pics in auto mode for micro detail at work.
I had a Note Edge which I loved. I especially liked the rounded Edge display with lots of apps and notifications on it. Also liked jotting notes with the stylus. I had the Note 7 briefly and didn't like the aspect ratio of it. Felt too tall and skinny to me. I'm very happy with the V20. The 2nd screen on top pretty much does what the rounded Edge display did. The only thing I miss from the Note Edge is the stylus.
I switched from the Note 7. Actually I like the V20 better than the Note 7. Hard to believe but true. It's an awesome phone that will do everything a Note will and more
Note4 for ANOTHER V20? (with T-Mobile's black Friday deal). I am tempted big time. Still use my note4 a lot. Stylus and amoled will be missed big time. I still have another white note4 dedicated as dashcam but that doesn't count. I wouldn't have an amoled device or note to use. But to get another v20 for $200 I could sell all my amps, moto x pure, moto g, and my HTC M8. Ugh. Should I? Should you?
My note4 is so heavily modded and runs smooth. Just took it apart and fixed the GPS issue so many people were having. Has some sentimental value too. Only phone I've had two full years.

I cracked my display trying to get my N4 apart to fix the gps issue. I need the gps for my work.
That's how I ended up with V20 after trying nexus 6p and note 7.
I'll never buy another sammy phone unless they fix the horrendous sound quality or lack there of.
Sound quality of headphone jack or loudspeaker? How's you break the screen? Not careful or patient? I dodnt even have the spider to help with screen and I came out golden. I am leaning g towards keeping mine because of s pen and watching videos when v20 is charging since battery is awesome on amoled phones when watching YouTube or movies. I still use my note 4 ebough I forget about software nav buttons, which are preferable to me, and I find myself trying to hit a home button that isn't there or touching my camera lens because of getting used to fingerprint scanner on v20. Still so damn tempting. Battery life is comparable between the two phones though. V20 does better web browsing and note4 much better with videos.

How does it feel in hand? I think I've held the S7 edge and that felt like a nice size - given that the S8+ is the same width I feel like that would be a reason to change from my S8 (albeit £90 for a marginal bit of extra screen and battery is difficult to reconcile).
PS - what store - I might head to Samsung on Oxford St. if they have it.

feels brilliant and looks amazing! being slightly taller yr thumb invariably has to reach further up so there is an element of having to slide the phone downwards in yr palm to get yr thumb to the top. the screen just dominates!
they had both @ the three store in chiswick.
three are usually good with having live demo phones generally in even their small stores (unlike vodafone who i am with). So maybe pop into a local three store. o2 had one on show too a few doors up.
the small size looks good and yeas £90 is a hefty price between the two.
Just an update for those who might find it useful - I went in to the Samsung store and spent an hour with both devices (I wanted to leave with a clear decision of S8 or S8+).
I have 'normal' (!) sized hands I guess and I found the S8 to be a perfect size - easy to get across the device. The S8+ I had problems reaching the other side of the keyboard - this is my key decision maker test; can I text easily (using swipe) - on the S8+ when trying to reach across I was hitting the bottom corner keys with my palm.
So I went with the S8 right... wrong! I actually have both now on order - unfortunately I'll get my S8+ late. But it gives me a little more time to decide.
Why I think I will stick with the S8+ is because I enjoyed the screen increase from my S3 to my Axon 7. The S8 feels lovely but I think the screen running things in normal 16:9 proportion feels like I'm getting less.
The S8+ felt a bit big but I think as I don't have a tablet device I would soon yearn for a bigger screen. Decisions, decisions!
Hope that helps people on the fence with some more things to think about.
As a side - I don't feel the fingerprint sensor is that much of a pain. Easily accessible on the S8 but I do have to adjust my hand position on the S8+.
Worth noting that I tried the devices without any of the security casing on them. Just not back to back.
I handled a live S8 and S8+ today. Let me tell you, the S8+ is humongously big. There is no way I am replacing my S7 Edge with the S8+, maybe with the S8 (which is actually very close in size with the S7 Edge) but then I would lose a lot of battery size which really bugs me. So right now I don't know what to do...I think I will stay with my S7 Edge for a bit more, maybe I can find a non-Samsung alternative.

Just an update for those who might find it useful - I went in to the Samsung store and spent an hour with both devices (I wanted to leave with a clear decision of S8 or S8+).
I have 'normal' (!) sized hands I guess and I found the S8 to be a perfect size - easy to get across the device. I tried both also and found that I never use my phone 1 handed because i use both hands to text and everything else. The S8+ was a winner for me
