Guys today I came here with a simplified rooting method for titan running marshmallow 6.0 that doesn't need boot.img modification
Note -You need to have bootloader unlocked and custom recovery like twrp installed on your device before proceeding
Unlock bootloader here
Flash the custom recovery of your choice using auto flash script included in separate attachment
1) Download and rename recovery file as recovery.img and put into the folder of auto flash script.
2) Reboot your device into bootloader mode and connect to PC using USB cable [You shold have latest motorola device manager installed and your device should indicate usb connected on bootloader screen]
3) Now open 'auto flash recovery script' folder and run auto_flash_recovery.bat file
4) Now custom recovery is installed on your device
Steps for rooting-
1. Download BETA-SuperSU-v2.62-3-20151211162651.zip and place it in root of your internal sd card (other supersu version does not work on titan running official marshmallow)
2. flash BETA-SuperSU-v2.62-3-20151211162651.zip using twrp recovery
3. wipe delvick cache and cache (optional)
4. reboot device
5. If you want to use stable super su version i.e. UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.65-20151226141550.zip or any version like any supersu beta except BETA-SuperSU-v2.62-3. download and flash it over BETA-SuperSU-v2.62 after rooting.
6. If you have previously rooted your MM running device using SuperSu-v2.52 with modified boot.img, You need to flash stock boot.img first and reboot then follow this guide (step 1-5)
#BETA-SuperSU-v2.62 will do all required modification by its own script automatically.
Note- Dnt flash any other supersu version or SuperSU-v2.65 alone on unrooted device. you will get bootloop. Do a backup of your rom before any rooting operation.
In case if u stuck on bootloop flash this update UnSu script via twrp, wipe delvick and cache and reboot. this script will remove any supersu file installed in your device thus fully unrooting ur device that will recover you from bootloop
Thank you! It's working!
Perfect, It's working!
Working,great

Where can we get the stock boot.img for Marshmallow?
If u r running stock mm, then ur boot.img is also stock.
i think it's not necessary to root again if i already rooted with modified boot image does that make any difference

Failed Root with XT1064 6.0
Everything ran smoothly installing the zip from TWRP, but on reboot: no SuperSU; no root. Now warnings or errors came up in the TWRP text during root.
MotoG 2014 XT1064
System: 24.41.34 titan_retuaws.retuaws.en.US retus
Kernel version 3.4.42-gef77327
TWRP-3.0.0-0-titan
Installed zip: BETA-SuperSU-v2.62-3-20151211162651.zip
Device is unlocked. Status Code 3
Update to 6.0 was with OTA after flashing the stock rom using XT1064_TITAN_RETUAWS_5.0.2_LXB22.99-24.12_cid9_CFC.xml.
The phone was previously 5.0.2 Rooted.
I did not lock the bootloader during the process.
The OTA to 6.0 went smoothly.
Followed the above instructions to the letter....
The only thing odd I did was uninstall the SuperSU App on the phone before flashing TWRP and starting this Root operation.
Has anyone gotten this to work on XT1064? Or any other root method on stock 6.0 and XT1064

This will work on all Moto devices running stock marshmallow.
Root Moto G2 running on Official 6.0 Android Marshmallow Without (modified boot image)

Every time i remove system apps it boot loop any work around for this in marshmallow.. In lollipop removing system apps can normally booted up without any problem..
I successfully rooted my stock marshmallow on XT1068. I had softbricked it previously by using a newer version os SuperSu (I hadn't located this post yet, so I didn't recover from it with you script. I reflashed stock).
So, many many thanks.
In the end, my successful steps were
- flashboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-titan.img
- reboot into recovery
- install BETA-SuperSU-v2.62-3-20151211162651.zip from TWRP
- wipe dalvik & cache
- reboot device

Confirmed working on TWRP 3.0.0.1, stock Marshmallow 6.0 from OTA updates. Every other SuperSU got stuck on unlocked bootloader screen.

---------- Post added at 12:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:42 AM ----------
Work thanks
i Tried this on Xt1072 Moto G 2nd Gen 2014 LTE and had to use the UnSu first as per the instructions and for the reasons described in red. I was also stuck in bootloader with that horrible message that says your bootloader is now unlocked! Now the issue is I seem to be stuck on the Motorola hand stitched by peter crawley boot screen? I saw someone aske dhow long this lasts? I had to use an OTG usb flash drive to get my files on to the damn phone for some strange reason phone and pc having massive communication issues, not playing very nicely with each other????? wtf? anyway I got okays and successful messages when in TWRP 2.8.5.0 I just dont understand why there seems to be such a huge problem with getting this f"£$%^&*g phone sorted.
Nexus 5 rooted and flashed with the beautiful elemental x kernel, why cant we get elementalx for moto g? its absolute genius! now someone tel me what the hell is going on here, when will I ever have success with this damn phone? I hate bloat and it only has 8GB plus the sd card which is configured as internal storage, could this be what the problem is?
Taken in parts from information provided by Gluk41 on the russian 4pda forum, here is a simple guide how to install the latest Chinese Marshmallow (beta) on your Honor 4c / GPlay mini:
Be aware that:
all userdata will be erased, TWRP recovery, gapps and root have to be redone
system partition is almost full, pico opengapps barely fit (better to remove some apps)
this is a developer beta version for the chinese market (but has all languages included)
Downloads & Installation
Flash TWRP from here and backup whatever you need
Download the complete 6.4.16 ROM here and copy the dload folder to SD card
Flash the region information for UL00 umicom / cn from TWRP
Reboot and all 3 buttons pressed until the installation starts
--
Update: For your convenience I put all 3 files in the Mega Folder
--
The 3 button method uses its own built-in recovery and can be used with TWRP installed! All 3 buttons might have to be pressed for quite some time (20sec or even longer) until it starts. The ROM installs fine with the correct region information, otherwise it will fail around 5%.
TWRP & root
TWRP will be replaced by the standard recovery and needs to be re-flashed. For Root follow the MM Root thread by inshaalmirza. I had to flash the current SuperSU 2.7.1 beta twice until it worked.
The pre-installed app 'Phone Manager' seems to block SuperSU from working correctly. You might not see the root request if you start an app that requires root. A work-around is, to manually start SuperSU before or after starting the app that requires root. The, request eventually will pop up after a few seconds. Either uninstall the Phone Manager or configure it not to block SuperSU.
Google Apps
This ROM comes without Google Apps and a lot of chinese apps pre-installed. The system partition is almost full. Therefore it is recommended to remove some of the chinese apps before flashing Gapps. Use the openGapps arm64 6.0 pico version, others will not fit unless you remove a lot of the pre-installed apps. Flash the Gapps via TWRP, reboot and let the phone settle for a few minutes. After unlocking, you will get a black screen. Reboot in TWRP and wipe all user data. After the next reboot, setup wizard should start and everything should be fine.
Enjoy but be aware, it is just a developer beta version.
In China the latest update is 6.2.1,not 6.4.16. I wonder where is 6.4.16 from.Sorry for my bad English.

According to the following link this is a soak test, which means it is not the final build and could therefore have some bugs with it:

Nevertheless it is good to see the Nougat update finally come out for the g4 play.

I also have the xt1609 on the May security update. I don't think VZW's locked bootloader will allow downgrading to a previous firmware version and I definitely don't think any non Verizon firmware will successfully flash on the xt1609.
Of course you could always try it at your own risk. However I think you will probably get a pre-flash validation error.
I'm just hoping we get Nougat soon. Anyone know?
These files can be installed from the twrp?

I have the xt1607 version n it still won't
Does this work for the US unlocked model XT1607?
Has anyone tried to do this with this model? One more thing. Someone said that flashing this will prevent future OTA's. Is that true? I don't think it would because when people do a soak test they still get the final release OTA update. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks!

Believe the OP addresses potential risks of flashing w/post Feb patch level.
Hi all,
i just bought a new mediapad M3 from hong kong (wifi version) and it comes with android 6.0
i plan to update it to nougat and root it
so now i have a few silly questions
1. should i upgrade to nougat before root? or the other way round?
2. to upgrade to nougat where should i find the ROM? must use firmware finder?
3. (really silly question coz it is my first time using android) how to root? unlock bootloader -> install TWRP (where can i find the latest update?) -> supersu or magisk or other app?
Sorry for these really silly questions
and thanks a lot in advance
If it's wifi version, assuming you're still on EMUI 4, you should unlock your bootloader first. Remember to save the unlock code as you'll need it again. Then adb flash TWRP for EMUI 4. Use TWRP to update to EMUI 5. If you need root, you need to unlock bootloader again using the same code. Then adb flash TWRP for EMUI 5. Once you have TWRP, just flash Magisk via TWRP and you're good to go.
Let me know if you need more details
Personally, I unlocked bootloader, updated to Nougat (via Firmware Finder by using their VPN & doing the update through settings) then rooted. After all that I finalize turned on 5ghz.

I have OP6T OxygenOS 9.0.16 and I would like to update it to the latest 10.3.3 with root.
What should be my process of doing so? I have not been in touch with rooting for the past 3 years so I don't want to mess things up. Another note is that while I am on OxygenOS 9.0.16 I tried to root it which was failed, but now few banking and calling apps such as TextNow thinks that my phone is rooted and they can not run -- but my phone is not properly rooted according to root verification apps.
Please tell me how should I do the update to the latest version from this point and then I would like to unlock bootloader and install recovery and root it as well.
Please advice.

Are you sure there is no need to update to 9.0.17 and then 10.3.3?
I've asked once and someone said that 9.0.17 is neccessary before update to 10.3.x.
Also there is option to flash from system without losing magisk modules:
1. Flash manually from update center (do not reboot)
2. Enter magisk and flash to another slot (after OTA)
3. Flash TWRP installer like magisk module
4. Reboot
But I'm not sure if I remember it correctly.

2. Enter magisk and flash to another slot (after OTA)
3. Flash TWRP installer like magisk module
4. Reboot
But I'm not sure if I remember it correctly.

10.3.3 is all that you need. 9.0.17 isn't the only way anymore.

Are you sure there is no need to update to 9.0.17 and then 10.3.3?
I've asked once and someone said that 9.0.17 is neccessary before update to 10.3.x.

I have a T-Mobile SIM unlock OnePlus 6t and I converted it to an international model so when my conversation was done I was on OOS 9.0.1.1 and I booted TWRP and installed 10.3.4 full rom on both slots and also recovery installer and all just like my previous posts stated and everything went fine. I used mauronofrio's TWRP the version just before the latest 3.4xx when I did this.
I always download quite a bit of various firmwares and also TWRP versions before I start flashing things just in case something goes wrong I already have other things maybe I can use and I don't have to stop and wait for some download to finish... And I'm quite sure you know this but definitely make a backup of everything beforehand to USB or transfer it to your pc just in case you end up needing it as a precaution.
Edit added:
I am assuming that you already unlocked your bootloader... I believe everyone knows to do that that's on XDA forums before you can do anything to any device .. I say this after reading post below me here. I guess I should have said that earlier but I just assume everyone knows that on the forums... My bad. ??
From fastboot on Linux PC:
sudo fastboot oem unlock (then hit enter on keyboard) use volume keys to move to unlock option and your Power button to select it and confirm. For more info see: https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t-unlock-bootloader-root/
Super easy to unlock bootloader just remember it does wipe your device clean so move anything to want to PC or USB stick first...
I would think you could just update oxygenOS to latest then re-root no? Assuming your already bootloader unlocked which it seems like would be the case if you have an obsolete magisk installation.
Edit: re-reading your post maybe it is not unlocked as you failed to root. In this case just unlock then flash the latest fastboot image and then magisk as others have already stepped you through. You will lose data when you unlock so backup first.
So if I'm on 9.0.16 I could flash latest OOS directly from TWRP and then flash magisk? And no data loss? Of course I'm rooted with bootloader unlocked.
Oh dear this process is getting harder because recently I was busy doing other things it sounds way harder it actually is. Isnt there a way I pay someone on this forum so that user help me do this. Like download stuff links and proper version and follow me up with it because i want to do this without messing things up!

It is indeed a tough job. This A/B partition has had a lot of people bootloop/soft bricked their phones.
However, you need not pay anybody anything. If you are on stock, I would've recommended you upgrading it via Oxygen updater (a 3rd party app on the play store) and then using the latest recoveries (TWRP 3.4) and flashing it via Fastboot mode.
It is super easy.
