Hey guys! I was recently given a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 PL1. I decided to switch over my tracfone number to it using a verizon compatible tracfone sim card. After doing so, I found that only regular phone calls and sms texts would work. Data and mms would not work.
To fix the problem, I figured out that I needed to change the apn settings, which were locked by Verizon. To unlock them, I ended up rooting the phone, installing twrp bootloader, and downgrading to OF1, none of which unlocked the apn settings.
In trying to get my sim card to work, I ended up calling tracfone and they decided to send me a new sim card. So, I was wondering what ROM for SM-N900V will give me the highest likelihood of working with a tracfone sim card. I already tried the Resurrection Remix. It didn't work at all with my sim card. I also tried to install Jasmine, but twrp failed to flash it.
tl;dr What SM-N900V ROM will work best with a tracfone sim card? Can you give me instructions so that I have the best chance of success?
Extra question: Should I be using twrp hlte or htlevzw with SM-N900V?
can't answer your first question but

*if you need to get around an "Error 7" condition when attempting to install a ROM or other ".zip" installation bundle using the custom recovery, you can alway delete the "assert" statement the ROM developer puts in the
META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script
file within the .zip file. Just unzip, edit out that line, re-zip, and flash. Obviously you should be 100% sure you are doing the correct thing. (I'm not suggesting here that you can install any ROM from any device this way.)

Sim Unlock on UCUFNJ4 MDv1.2
What is the correct way to SIM unlock with this ROM? I've been using it for awhile with few issues except the phone stopping twice on boot before logging in. Annoying but I don't boot/reboot often. I'm switching carriers and do pay-as-you-go. I need to get this SIM unlocked fast. The *#0011# process doesn't work on this ROM. Can't get to the menu. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
You might need to be on stock, but go to this thread, read the OP and then post 77 (and maybe post 70). Can't hurt to try that method on MD v1.2 as all you're flashing is the modem.

SUMMARY:
" I had to replace my S4 motherboard.. after getting a new motherboard.. it was locked and was on 4.4.4 FNJ4, and wanted to unlock it badly..
was sarching seaching...........i came to know the other free methods only work for 4.2.2 .so was think to downgrade the firmware
searching again and again how to rollback to 4.2.2 . having in mind that its tough. but luckly i found your thread. and followed the steps..
OMG !!!! it worked just perfect
1. i am on 4.4.4 FNJ4 firmware. and no simcards inserted
2. Rooted the Firmware by the guide from http://www.droidviews.com/root-att-g...e-i337ucufnj4/
3. installed SuperSU, Busybox from play store. and updated the binary and instlled busybox
4. installed safestrap recovery you attached.
5. boot into recovery and installed MF3 Modem, and reboot the system
6. installed region lock away app, and did region unlock. got success message.
7. and reboot again to recovery. installed FNJ4 modem, did system reboot. meanwhile in inserted different NetWork SIM
8. thats all my S4 accepted the SIM and unlocked.. "
This worked for me. I didn't even take out my AT&T GoPhone SIM until the end when I switched in TMob. APN picked up but network may need tweaking. I got data, confirmation texts from TM but haven't checked phone call yet.

Hello all,
I want to switch to Verizon but I don't have a verizon sim to test my phone, I just got it unlocked through the unlock app. I've also read this post,

Well i live in Mexico, but i own a galaxy s7 edge from tmobile and to try nougat i installed first the Verizon version, and it work well, the only issue was to setting the data configuration, now i use the At&t nougat and everything still even more perfect (the verizon nougat have a lot of little bugs)

Using a Tmobile S7 Edge going to Verizon won't work cause of a few reasons.
1. TMOBILE S7 and S7 edge are not built for CDMA networks that uses certain bands and network. Along with the security of CDMA networks.
2. There is no band 13 on tmobiles S7 and S7 Edge. Even you were to unlock it.
But going from CDMA to GSM most phones work due most of the hardware and software is already built in the phone.

I can confirm this. Yes, your unlocked T-mobile S7/Edge will work with Verizon network if you flash the U firmware. I'm currently using my unlocked T-mobile S7 Edge with the U-firmware on the Verizon network. Voice, text, data work fine. No issues for me.

You can flash the stock Tmobile ROM or the U firmware. The only reason I got a new S7 when I jumped from big red was I had a huge scratch on my screen. I was running the U firmware when I went into tmobile and used the girls sim card from her phone to prove I could do it...

OK, so I have a question. I'm also trying to move from t-mobile to Verizon but I'm trying to keep my same phone. My phone is already paid off and i currently running t-mobile's SM-G935U over SM-G935T. But a couple of days ago i asked a friend to let me barrow his verizon sim card to test it out. But received a message saying "Invalid sim Card" "network locked SIM card inserted." Did i messed up something during the installation of the SM-G935U?

You need to UNLOCK your phone. It might be a Tmobile phone and running G935U software...but the sim is still locked to T-Mobile. Here is Tmobile unlock page information. you can request unlock in the T-mobile app or by calling T-Mobile....then it should see the Verizon sim and load up just fine once the phone itself is not locked to T-Mobile only sims. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1588
And for anyone else looking at this forum, There is no physical difference in hardware from a SM-G935T phone and a SM-G935U phone. Samsung actually made the hardware the same for all US Variants it is just the software that is different. And not that you would want too but you could load other carriers software on your phone if you wanted too(IE- running Verizon software on a SM-G935T, or ATT or SM-G935U (Stock Samsung Software) The only problem Running SM-G935U is they haven't upgraded the unlocked us phones to 7.0 yet. Where T-Mobile and other carriers already have nougat out.
The SM-G935U software however has all the US and even some Chinese LTE bandwidths enabled, and it also enabled the CDMA bandwidths to be used on the SM-G935 phones...hence why it will work with Verizon, Sprint, and even US Cellular if you can get them to put it on the account.*(I haven't dealt with US Cellular in years and with the new laws on moving phones from carrier to carrier in the US they might not have any issue with Bring your own phone to US Cellular anymore I do not know!)

Had you flash any ROM before via Odin?. If so, you will only need to download the verizon firmware (sammobile.com) and flash those files. if not > Open odin (Attached) load all the files accordingly (AP, BL, CP, CSC) in ODIN> put your phone download mode ( pressing fingerprint button + volume down + power) > connect phone to PC > Once all files are ready in ODIN hit start. You will get the success message and phone will boot.

If you are going to use a verizon sim, you will need to have it unlocked. Firmware flash won't sim unlock/lock the phone.

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought I was gonna be waiting months. I got it tho. The home csc file wasn't working so I used the other one that reset the phone to stock. It was g935u firmware for tracfone from T-Mobile if that helps anyone in the future.

Bumping the thread...sorry guys. I just jumped ship from Verizon and went to Tmobile today with my S7 Edge along with my wifes S7 Edge. Can I flash her phone with the U firm from TMobile and is the U firmware from tmobile the same U firm that is provided to Verizon? Jist wondering. I've used Odin plenty and understand flash process.
Device = Samsung Galaxy S7
Model # = SM-G930V
Software Info = Android Version 7.0

Hi all,
I got two Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 and decided to root one of them.
Prior to me doing all this the phone was successfully activated on the Verizon network. I could make calls, get calls, and the 4G LTE icon would appear and I could use CHROME to get onto the internet from the phone. Now all I can do is make phone calls.
Needless to say it failed and now I can get it back on the Verizon network.
Here is what I did to (attempt) to root it and what I did to flash it back to stock and where I am now stuck.
I followed the directions here:
http://www.samsungsfour.com/tutoria...r-and-root-verizon-galaxy-s7-and-s7-edge.html
Download "Odin for Engineering Bootloader" software
Downloaded "Samsung_G930x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.tar"
Flashed the S7 with that .tar file
After I finished the flash the S7 was in an endless bootloop. :crying:
So following the instructions here:
http://www.samsungsfour.com/tutorials/how-to-resolve-android-boot-loop.html
I did "Wipe cache partition" and still stuck in boot loop
I did "wipe data/factory reset" and still stuck in boot loop
So I found the stock verizon Roms here
https://www.getdroidtips.com/verizon-galaxy-s7-galaxy-s7-edge-stock-firmware/
and flashed the JUNE 26, 2017 G930VVRU4BQF2 which is what the phone originally had.
That got me out of the boot loop and into the verizon activation wizard and I figured I was finally cleared of my mess. But nope. :crying: The wizard failed saying that it could not connect to Verizon and I that I could use wifi to finish the setup.
So when I finish the setup I'm at the "desktop" of the phone. I can make phone calls but NOT get on the internet unless I have wifi on. Basically the phone's SIM card is not being recognized by Verizon so it won't allow it to get onto the network for internet but yes for calls. Not sure why yes for calls.
In doing more reading I think the EFS partition got corrupt. Form what I understand the EFS partition hold the data on what SIM card number is in the phone and what carrier that SIM card number belongs to. The phone uses that info to send to Verizon to allow it onto the network. But since that partition is damaged/corrupt/not on phone the network won't allow the phone back into the network. Right?
So how do i go about fixing that partition?
I tried "EFS_Professional_2.1.80_BETA" but that says I need to be rooted.
I tired turning off phone, removing SIM card, reinserting SIM card and reboot and that failed. (Off course it would as the EFS is damaged).
I tried using the VZW software assistant to repair the phone but it tells me the firmware on the phone is invalid.
Any ideas?
PS.
Stupid me I did not backup the EFS partition before I started.
Had no need to backup any data as the phone was new and it had nothing on it.
**UPDATE**
I got the phone back on the verizon network with stock rom on it!
I went to updato.com and looked for the stock rom.
Next I used Odin3 v3.12 and flashed this file
CSC_VZW_G930VVZW4BQF2_CL11447542_QB13858601_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
which was include in the .zip file of the stock rom.
My prior attempt I flashed with the AP_ file.
There are AP_, BL_, CP_, CSC_, and HOME_ files in that zip.
The CSC does a complete wipe of all the data on the phone.
The HOME_ does a stock firmware but keeps your data.
Note sure what the other 3 do.
In any case I'm back up and running but not rooted.
So what post should I read to unroot?
The only reason I want to unroot is to do moblie thethering as I have an unlimited plan.
Thanks
Need to flash ap bl cp home csc, use the latest version of pain to abouts fail. Make sure yuppies have latest driver for your phone. Ap is used four root, rest id's for the system files that probably gout somehow corrupt in some areas. You can also update your phone using Odin with higher stock version. I've tested it & it's safe
So I have been using MetroPCS on my Moto G5 Plus since I got it. Well today I went and activated my device with the Sprint network... It wasn't working when I left the store, and I told the rep how it was modified (using RessurectionRemix 5.8.4 Final), that I would work on setting it up.
Well, so far no success in activating it... Have tried changing network mode to CDMA/LTE and messing around with dialer codes, still can't get anything besides "emergency calls only."
Anyone have experienced getting this phone activated with Sprint?
Note: they did tell me they didn't have the exact, or "recommended," SIM card for my device, and that it was a secondary option they used in the system(?).

I am using that SIM, got it working when I reflashed stock. Did not work again when I restored RR, at least fully, as I was able to get data to work minus SMS/calls.
I'm on Sprint. No issues with any Roms.
You need to be on a stock build for the initial setup, because the custom roms remove all of the PRL stuff. Once it is setup once, flash whatever you want.

That's really odd. I don't have that problem...
Make sure you have APNs on the custom rom. I saw a problem a while back that the custom rom didn't keep the APN for some reason, and I had to put it in manually. Different device, but same problem.

Can you tell me what your APN info is? I have data and calling working now, but no LTE option (see screenshot)
I have mine set to global.
I had this same issue with my s6, and I ended up having to factory reset the phone, and redoing the PRL update, and the option finally came back.
Just to follow up, I was able to get full LTE and calls to work by flashing stock ROM, updating PRL, and by then it was provisioned on the Sprint network.
As it stands now, if I reinsert my MetroPCS sim card, it is provisioned for MetroPCS no problem, but I do have to reflash stock again each time I want to provision for Sprint.
So thats how I am going to run things for now, by making backups and getting it provisioned using stock before restoring.
this worked for me

Hello XDA,
I recently purchased a H910 from EBAY.
I was able to install Oreo and root it using the excellent tutorials before I was able to have a working sim card on hand so I cannot confirm if this phone was good or bad as I received it. I am using an activated ATT sim card and have used it in another phone with calls, texts, and data working. I have not for the life of me been able to get the any of these features to work on the H910. I have checked the APN settings, I have confirmed both the IMEI number and the sim ID number with ATT. The H910 is able to see the sim card but no mobile network is connected. I can use wifi calling and texting.
I did make a backup/dump of the phone and have flashed the modems, fsg, and misc images with no effect.
I have tried to restore to a stock image of 10q and 20G with the results ending in boot loops so I have not been able to test the stock firmware.
Is there any way to test for a hardware fault?
I would like to avoid returning this phone for something that could be fixed on my end.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ive had nothing but great luck getting phones off ebay, but it really sounds like you may have gotten a lemon.
The H910v20 is one of the easiest phones to root and return to stock the 20G rom should work and immediately ask to update to 20H with a AT&T sim in it.
taking the 20G to 20H update will insure you have all the correct modem files and APN.

clsA, Thank you for taking the time to reply, and for your excellent tutorials.
I tried both the stock(default) APN and manually entering the nxtgenphone APN info I was prompted by ATT but no change. Searches for a signal for about 30 seconds and the throws an x over the signal bars. The phone does detect the sim card and shows my phone number.
I do think it is hardware failure. All of the modem problems I have read have an error saying that the radio is off. I do not get this I get a message stating out of service. I also copied the Modem files from another stock H910 20H from a friend and that did not change anything. Their phone also shows signal bars even when the sim card is removed.
I checked the MD5 Hashes and they are correct on the SD card I was using. I saw no errors in TWRP and I tried 3 different flashing combos with both 10q and 20H. The first was to format device and then advance wipe system, cache, and dalvik, then flash, followed by format device. I then tried just format before and format after flashing, and then not formatting before and only formatting after and got the same boot loops with the 3 combos depending on whether I was using 10q or 20g. ie 2 different boot loops with the different zips. Once the boot loop started I could get to the stock recovery to "erase" the phone but that had no change. The only way I found to stop the loops was to flash the 996.kdz file using lgup and start over. The 20H file works perfectly. as does the 10R. It is really odd.
