Is anyone else suffering this? I received the update last night on BTU S7 Exynos. Since then battery life has been horrible. Draining at 10% per hour roughly. Less than 30 mins screen on time and I'm at less than 30%.

I Noticed that as well. I thought i'm being paranoid. I'm flashing back to the initial BTU ROM!
Which BTU have you guys found has the lowest idle drain?

What is btu?
it's the CSC (Consumer Software Customisation) code for the UK - or at least one of them.
Different branded carriers will have their own CSC.
slugger, did you try a factory reset after the update?
you should be on around 80 - 90% battery
After the OTA april security patch I tried to wipe my cache partition and now it seems to be working fine
For me, wiping cache didn't helped me much, still got 8% drain during the night ( 6h ).
Gonna try a factory reset and see how that goes, otherwise i am going to reflash the firmware from Februari....

same thing happened to my end after latest BTU update, horrible idle drain. not to forget the misaligned toast message display at the bottom of the screen..

Can anyone tell me what is the best firmware to download to have a SOT like i see people having on forum?
like i have Dubai S7 Edge Duos and it's bad really bad max - if lucky - 3H SOT and it does not complete a full day.
SO THIS A CALL FOR PEOPLE WITH >6 SOT WHAT IS YOUR FIRMWARE AND WHAT IS YOUR COUNTRY ?
i'm looking to convert my device to normal firmware i don't care about the duos Func.
and thank you all
I would like to know this also. I get over 3hrs sot but not quite 6hrs sot.
There is no "best firmware". Battery usage is more dependant on how you use the phone. Brightness settings, 3G or 4G, wifi usage, blueooth usage, signal strength, app running, apps in the background, push notifications.
What is good foe one person, won't necessarily be good for another person.
I suggest you use a good battery app, such as Better Battery Stats, and find out exactly what is using your battery the most, and try to fix that.
Hmmmmm I slightly disagree. I can most certainly say that for Exynos S7 Edge's, the firmware plays a big part simply because Samsung messed something up. The last time I used a phone that went from great battery life, to middle of the road battery life was when my OPO got upgraded from Kit Kat to Lollipop. Battery life was never as good as it once was.
I see the same pattern here. Every single firmware I have used after the March update (ACP8) has worse battery life. Same settings, same usage, worse battery life. Normally I would follow the stance you suggest, but honestly something with April updates onward take a toll on battery life.
As for the OP's question, I'd personally suggest flashing the March firmware or take a look at the massive Android System drain thread. You'll find a lot of info in there about how different firmware's behave.
APC8 gives me great results 5-6hr on 4g and 6-7 hr on wi-fi
I'm on the June APF2 firmware and get 5-6 hours of SOT with mixed 4G/Wifi, Android Wear connected always, GPS on, AOD off.
The title maybe is a bit misleading, i just want to know what is the country or CSC code for the people with 6+ h of SOT
Can you tell me what is your Country code or CSC ?
Can you tell me what is your Country code or CSC ? and what is your CPU Exynos or SnapDragon
Mine is UK btu. Exoynos
CSC doesn't change much. March firmware is march firmware.
Can you tell me what is your CSC code and what is your firmware version ?
i'll try and see
Thanks
My Nexus 6P is experiencing "slow charging" after April 7.1.2 Update (OTA).
I am using stock Nexus 6P charger, which now shows "charging rapidly" on lockscreen with 5 hours estimated time of full charge but is charging 18-20% in 1 hour.
Anyone else having this issue?
Tried rebooting, no effect. Any other fix?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ne...t/xthermal-mod-fast-charging-cpu-gpu-t3433784 worked on the latest beta, didn't flash update yet
Same here on my Nexus 5x with slow charging. I also got excessive battery usage by the Android os and Android system. They doubled on battery consumption after the ota update. Driving me nuts. I lost at least 3-4 hours of battery time with this update. What used to be plenty of juice now barely gets me through the day. I tried wiping the cache partition restarting and so forth. I am about to flash back to 7.1.1 but can't justify the burden just yet.

Have you done a backup followed by a full wipe if it happens again? Could also be a misbehaving app

I haven't tried that but if i decide to go down that route, i will probably downgrade back to 7.1.1 while i'm at it.
Slow charging happens pretty frequently, i can say around 7 out of 10 charges. Haven't properly tested yet but seems to happen when charging at battery levels below 10% or so. I usually do not go this low on battery but thanks to the recent update this became a daily thing. I wonder if the frequent deep cycles will degrade the battery faster.
The android system and android os spends 14% and 11% battery respectively on every cycle. Both the battery drain and slow charge started immediately after the 7.1.2 OTA update. I haven't updated my wife's X5 due to this bug and her's is behaving as usual, spending 8% and 6% for the same android system and os.
The reason for the excessive battery usage is that Google is defaulting the kernel to very high performance settings. They eat up the battery and make the phone run warmer and if you aren't rooted and can't flash a custom kernel there's not much you can do about it. I think Google is trying to burn out these phones. I can't think of a legitimate reason they would run the kernel settings so high.
What?! Second charge after the June patch and suddenly I'm looking at about 4.5 hour SoT. Used to be 3.5 before. Anyone else seeing this?

I've noticed this too, not entirely sure what they'be done. Also don't know what took them this long, but I'm not complaining now it's even longer
Today I suddenly got 6 hours of SoT! And this on my usual all stock unrooted 7.1.2 setup with my usual usage. Nothing updated or changed.
I usually get somewhere between 3 and 4 hours.
What is going on here? Is the SoT parameter buggy?

Maybe an app got updated? Or Google play services?
Yeah, maybe. Got a couple of updates yesterday, but nothing to do with Google.
Will be interesting to see what SoT I get on next charge.

Did u charge your phone halfway through the day and completely forgot? Lol or maybe it never reset the sot from your last charge. It's weird for your phone to randomly double it's battery life even if an app got updated or whatever. Battery size is still the same.
Battery drain is unbelievable in this firmware. 4 hours and battery is gone. Moderate usage maybe 6 hours. Idle time max 8-9 hours.

this belongs to the questions and answers section
Usually the only thing that fixes this kind of stuff for me is reinstalling the whole system. You can do that by using MiFlash or by installing LOS then goig back to stock
According to accubattery the drain is about 1200-1600mah. I get about 500 and peak of 1000 just on this xda app. Mivaor is using alot of current im this firmware. Idle current ie 160-300 idle on mifavor launcher. Stock android launcher is about 120 on idle. Now while typing using stock android laucher xda app uses between 160-600 max. Not even close to 1000. I did clean install and cache partition as always. There is no shortage because it would be constant above 1000 even in idle. But idle should be far less on androidm about 50-100mah max. Ive tested this on several samsung phones. They lose 1% battery health after one whole day on idle. Even with old firmware and old phones in general. This firmware is catastrophic! Therr is no issue with battery or shortage or custom rom or anything else. Zte official nougat b08 is garbage. In 15 min ok maybe 30 min i got from 50% battery to 35%
Firefox is worst in drain over 1600 and Chrome about 1300 on scrolling alone. No rendering no nothing just scrolling without animation, no web font or ads whats so ever. Worst official rom ever. And still no fix for microphone issue/echo
You have a problem. My battery life is fine on B08 even with 2 SIMs.
Mine is atrocious too, but so was in b06
