How to turn off slide to unlock

Since the ota update I can't turn on the pattern unlock without having the slide to unlock staying on also. It's either both or none. Any idea how to just have the pattern unlock? Thx!

I'm in the same boat as you and it is frickin annoying. Any help out there?
I cant turn off the slide lock at all. How are you turning it off?

Sorry fellas this is one of the annoyances with 2.2, no way around it. Its either nothing at all or the redunadant slide to unlock then enter pattern. Stupid and annoying I know. Hopefully they patch this with a future update.
I personally don't like having a screen lock at all. When I press the power button to bring my screen back I like it to go right to the home screen.
I know it increases the changes of 'butt dialing', etc, but I have very little issue with that.
At any rate, on 2.1 you could turn off all locks. When I moved to the Froyo leak, I lost the ability to turn off the slide to unlock screen.
Went into the market and found 'No Lock' from BoD. Simple little Toggle program that turns on/off the screen lock.
Doesn't seem to effect the situation with both slide & pattern locks, but does allow you to turn ALL the locks off (like I like )
Hope that helps.
This will also cause all buttons to wake up the phone. The screen lock is about my only gripe with 2.2.

Thanks for the replies. Guess we'll have to wait for a patch then. You can turn off both by going into the security menus btw.

[Q] When makeing a call

When I make a call or receive one while talking I notice different apps will open, usually beginning with the world clock??? It seems to be due to touching my face to the screen. Can anyone give me suggestions?? My service provider is Sprint, last phone was a G nexus never experienced this problem with that phone.
I noticed this too. I found out (personal experience) was that it has a ton to do with having a larger screen and not giving the screen time to turn off or pressing the home key so I wouldn't hit the dialer. My solution was a quick tap of the power key to turn off the screen and no more apps popping up.

Thanks', I'll give that a try, guess this must not be a big problem, wonder if it may be an issue with our phones, not all S 4??
There is a setting in my device/call to enable Turn off screen during calls. The only trick with that is trying to access the pull down menu while in a call. You just have to make sure you avoid the proximity sensor so it doesn't turn off the screen.

[Q] screen is on while charging

The screen on my wife's S4 from ATT stays on while charging.
If you press the power button, it'll go away for a while but then turns on again.
Disabling 'stay awake' in developer's options does not seem to help.
Is there any other way to keep the screen off?
Is there a danger of burning the screen?
The phone is not rooted.
Restore default settings may help.

Always on Display Question

Is there any way to remove the "Hard Press or double tap the Home button to turn on the screen" message? I am a little tired of being constantly reminded of something I already know
under lock screen settings, remove the home button from lock screen

Already did that but the message is still there...
Worked it out - the message was a residual tutorial message (i.e. the phone wanted to teach me about the Always On Display, and kept the message active until I followed the prompts). Having now obeyed, it has stopped hassling me.
Thanks
Thank you. I had the same issue and it was getting annoying. I had the home button turned off on always on display. I had to turn it back on then follow the tutorial and it worked.

Screen off and back on again...

Hi folks,
I think I need to tweak a setting.
When I'm done with my phone for a minute, I want to turn off the screen and set it down, screen off. So I tap the power button (and the screen goes off) but while moving the phone to lay it down the motion wakes it back up again, so it is back on for. Bit after I stop touching it.
Is there a way to set it so that after turning off the screen it ignores motion for a few secs so I can put it down without waking it again?
Thanks!
