I keep my wifi and apn disconnected all the time.. only turns on when it is required..
what is this 0 that keeps eating battery??
Could be the backup of the system? Do you have it activated in privacy menu?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
The process ID 0 is root on Linux and (I suppose) also on Android.
Now ask the question: is your process 0 behaving different from that on other phones?
I have no idea what connections would originate in process 0, but I can imagine things like a reply to a ping fall under this.
I have just done a factory reset. The process 0 usage under network usage had gone.I'm now going to add my apis back on one at a time to see what sets the process 0 bug off. My guess is its got to be something that we all use like facebook our something stupid like that.

It is *#*#4636#*#*
I also have this process showing and would be interested in finding out what it is. If it is indeed 'root' then why is it a full blue bar?

Well I didn't actually get round to adding apps before the infamous process "0" appeared. Dunno what the hell it is but its draining my battery. I lost 60% in 2 hours! what's going on!?
Drew

Here is what my network use looks like.

What do you reckon it is? I done a factory reset and it still draining away.
I think its the facebook app that hammering my battery. I put apps back on the phone one at a time and when I installed facebook I turned off the update interval and closed the application. After a few hours I pulled my phone out my pocket to find it really really hot and my battery was nearly dead after having 50% prior to installing. I uninstalled the app and now my phone is consuming at a rate of approx 5% an hour, still higher than 2.1 but better than it was. I still have the process 0 network usage issue though. I noticed that if you do a firmware recovery and re flash the firmware into the phone, the process 0 usage does not start unroll the phone has been restarted. I used my phone after flashingfor a few hours with no process 0 in the iterate statistics. as soon as I restarted it came back.

Apparently the '0' proccess belongs to rooting.
I have seen more and more posts about the Dialer draining battery for power and noone knows why.
After som intensive googling i ended up on MoDaCo's Forum were Chall32 spotted a fix for this back on CM6 builds wich aso seem to work for CM7 builds, and it will make you go: is that all it takes? lol
Turn off (as in un-tick) the "Turn to mute" setting via:
Home Screen > Menu > Settings > Call Settings> Turn over silence
Seems like the Dialer is constantly checking for phone position
and therefor consuming alot more power than necasary.
Again thx to chall32 at MoDaCo's Forum for spotting this.
Is that all it takes!?
I wondered what was causing this for quite a while now. I came to the conclusion that it was a bug in the Battery usage stats, since I didn't seem to notice any decrease in battery life.
I wonder if this will make my batterylife even better.
Top find,
I was about to embark on a journey to find a solution to this.
This setting IS off in PNK22.
For me it was anyways

yep.. it's off also on mine.. i think that's already the default setting on pnk22. using it also. but good find though.
Omg thank you this has been driving me nuts! I couldn't figure why the hell the dialer was taking 85% of my battery!
finally a fix
i am on cm7. i dont see this setting for some reason.

Hi,guys!
I can't figure out why the Android System is using more battery than others. I feel like it is awful.2 hours and17 minutes of off the charger time and I'm at 86% with wifi-on and leave my phone on airplane . I have been spending most of my time trying to find ways to save battery and it is barely working, or at best working inconsistently. I might need to try a replacement. What do you guys think?
Does anybody knows how to fix it? I'm out of ideas.
I had the same problem on my moto x. I had to uninstall all the updates to anything google related.

It is your Google account. Probably Google + or photos since you have WiFi enanled.
its the same with my s5, after all day when i check my battery stats android system uses the most battery. i'm trying all things to sort it out
Yes, sync troubles… I think that too…

I don't have it quite as bad but removing carrier IQ has helped a bit, Go get system tuner and go into app mgr and find android system press details then open and go through activities, receivers and services and make sure everything you see that says IQAgent gets unchecked. This will help you stay out of ServiceIQ's eyes and also help your battery as your entire phone is debugged through those apps.(Another words I can't find the darn post that I used to help me)
Even with my friends verizon s5 lasting 9 days on a battery >.> He gets around 15 percent android system usage
Check with wakelock detector

I have prepared a short guide to do that if it would help you... Here is the link...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799642
How exactly is this bad? The guy has close to 30 minutes for 10% of battery life, so proportionally close to 5 hours total screen on time for a full charge and this is supposed to be abnormal? Screen on time is purely on what you should base yourself first because you have no idea on what the phone reports as "Android system". As far as I know, if you had 5 minutes of screen on time instead of 30, that would be a problem worth investigating....but 30 minutes for 10%? You should not try to find issue where there are none.
Let me show you why you can't rely on phone stats. Here is my screenshot for today. Just from looking at it, you can already see i have some kind of huge wakelock problem, severe battery drain, especially if you consider I only have about 1h15 minutes of screen on time. Anybody looking at this could see that there is a problem with my phone. The fact is, there isn't. I had a 4h16 hour conversation today, but, my phone only reports voice calls taking up 12% of my battery life. Thats because other features are not included in the voice calls tab, like how the sensors have to always check if i'm close or not to the screen to turn it on or off, or the fact that it has to manage my wifi connection while using my mobile connection that is about 1 bar in my room. There are too many unknown factors to solely rely on what you see here, or on OPs screenshot. If you have 30 mins of screen time, and have 10% battery drain, thats fantastic. Don't forget, only 1 gen ago, having 3 hours of screen time with a full charge was awesome.
Now, I am doing what I read from a guide. I just plug it in every night and only use Ultra Power Saving in the day. From the guide,I would have full internet, phone and message capabilities with maximum battery life each day. Then I can leave off UPS on weekends and holidays to enjoy all the other apps.

Got the COI9 update a few days ago and today he a notification leading to disable auto kill type tool.
Which varient
Sent from my SM-G925P using Tapatalk
Not sure if it works like Greenify but my S6E is definitely smoother and last longer.
It appears to be an add on to the Smart Manager under the battery section
Agreed definitely smoother and quicker
Possibly a move towards Marshmallow as read today Google want everyone to be able to map battery usage by app or hardware
Few more screen shots is a disable, auto clean and the a frequency option
Anyone know how to get rid of the notification? I have enabled auto optimize, but every day I get the notification that my phone can auto optimize apps. Kinda annoying.
Press for a few seconds at the notification then tap app info and uncheck the show notifications.
Definitely, my Edge works as a champion until night, this is a great update!

Yeah wish it was that simple. Samsung made sure to remove that possibility from this app.
You know what, the more I use samsung phones, the more annoyed I get with them, cause they pull stupid **** like this. A few updates ago it was the weather app nagging with notifications, and when they fixed that, they just introduce another silly app to do the same stuff.
I'm done.
The "Always Power Saving" mode comes out to be the life saver to my phone
I saw a drastic change in it's battery life! Actually it works like a task-killer and since it's integrated with the system, we don't need to root our devices and install Greenify at all Thanks Samsung for understanding the needs of average consumers!

I was asking because on my edge, on COI9 it doesn't say "always battery saving" but rather "always optimize" and I don't get standby times that great. I thought that since there is a new firmware available Samsung changed something in the algorithm, hence the name change and techsammy was on the new one, hence the much better standby times (and maybe has something disabled that does wonders)
Ι have huge battery drain since yesterday with COI9....
Ιts getting better after a few days.
My battery drine in five cicle charge .coi9
Any solution
I have updated to the latest firmware of tmobile using Odin and not OTA. This means I had a completely free phone of apps. I installed some apps that do not trigger cpu wake and as you see in the picture, no apps were caught in draining power. Over night the battery fell from 50 to 37%. I have no clue how such a thing can happen. Please help me figure this out, thanks in advance.
