This probably sounds like such a dumb question, but how can I get the google search bar on the home screen, to be the slide over style like the pixel so it isn't taking up so much space. I have Google Assistant installed, and I don't see a setting in Google app to make it the smaller icon
You need to have the beta version of Nova Launcher installed, then select the Google pill as the Search bar style. Check out the video in this guide...

You need the leaked Nexus launcher zip. Works like a charm, search for it on these forums. Anyway, it's much less complicated than the approach below.

If you've seen the new Google Pixel phone lately then you probably saw the outstanding looking launcher on it. If your a fan of stock Android look then you will love this, or if your also a Google Now fan.
Below I have also included a screenshot of what you will be getting. :good:
Guide:
1. Download the attached Pixel Launcher APK file
2. Download the attached Wallpaper app (required to run alongside this launcher).
3. Go to home > click Pixel Launcher > Home again > Click "always" (so it's set as the deafault launcher).
To get to the awesome new and shiny wallpaper sections and other settings within the launcher, hold down on the home screen and you will see a list of options, wallpaper brings you to the new wallpaper area exclusive to the Pixel Launcher, Widgets is the standard section, settings brings you to the settings of the launcher.
If you want the icons then you will need to download them from a different source. Sorry I cannot supply them here!

Go to the Theme section of settings, go to search and locate theme called Material Black
There is a cost for it(can't remember I bought it way back with my S7)

There should be a way to activate System UI Tuner i thought that should have an option for enabling a night mode .... but I can't seem to enable it by long pressing the settings gear icon in quick settings on my S8.

that doesnt work for me too. Cant really use the theme store since i want to use google launcher.

I use Nova launcher and it works fine with the theme
The Theme updates only a few items, mainly the notification menu, the main settings menu and messaging app
For system tuner -I haven't tried on the S8, but it worked for my G6

You'll need to issue a couple of ADB commands but nothing hard.
It beats me with the prevalence of OLED screens now that google themselves or indeed Samsung don't offer a dark mode system wide as default considering the positive benefits to battery life, Google in particular seem to be making everything as white as they possibly can.
Yeah go to the theme store and search black. Should get a nice choice of blacked out themes to choice from(including a lot of free ones). My entire interface is black now. I use nova launcher with transparent app drawer and no icons on my home screen. I have the old school nexus live wallpaper with the background blacked. Transitions are seamless fading in and out of the abyss.

It can certainly be removed in Oxygen for the 3T so I assume it will be removable in whatever version the OP5 comes with.
hello to all
nexus 6p October patch rooted with pixel launcher 2 as system app. When i press on the temperature it cant see the weather info and i get "unable to show weather info for current location". weather for my location works in the feed and in chrome.
any suggestions
Open the Google app and press the mic so google now activates. Ask for the weather in your area. Now with the results beside the weather there will be 3 dot menu you can open and add weather app to your homescreen. ?

Ok well I just installed pixel 2 launcher and don't have the issues you speak of. Maybe someone else can chime in.

so something strange happened....i was out for coffee and tried to do the same and it worked...so this happens when am at home....
Same problem here , the message appears only when I'm at home ? Any suggestions ?
Maybe it's your location option you choose, I always use energysavemode and have no issue, if you only choose gps it may not work at your homes.
Did you manage to solve your issue? Having the same on my Pixel 2
