This probably sounds like such a dumb question, but how can I get the google search bar on the home screen, to be the slide over style like the pixel so it isn't taking up so much space. I have Google Assistant installed, and I don't see a setting in Google app to make it the smaller icon
You need to have the beta version of Nova Launcher installed, then select the Google pill as the Search bar style. Check out the video in this guide...

You need the leaked Nexus launcher zip. Works like a charm, search for it on these forums. Anyway, it's much less complicated than the approach below.

Is there a way to get rid of that grey Google search bar on top of all the screens? The drag an delete function doesn't seem to work.
Thanks!
I don't think there is any way to get rid of it on the Stock ROM. From what I understand its basically built onto the launcher. If it really bothers you, you could consider switching to an alternate launcher like Apex or Nova to get rid of it.

Didn't think of that. Maybe I'll give one of those a whirl.
This worked for me:
Settings>Apps>All>Google Search>select "Disable", then click "OK" on the "...other apps may misbehave" pop-up. You may have to reboot to get rid of the bar.
This will disable the search function on your tablet; there will be no way to search for contacts, apps or anything. If there is a problem you can always repeat the process and enable Google search again.
I personally didn't care for the search bar and I don't use the search function. I have only had my N10 since this morning, but removing the search bar was one of the first things I did and I have yet to have a problem.
Hope this helps.

Yes, the Now swipe-up functionality is in the navigation bar, which 3rd-party launchers don't change.
For anyone wanting to make the stock ASUS Launcher look a bit more like stock Lollipop, I found an icon pack called LolliPop Colored on the Play Store. Applied via the icon packs setting in the launcher, it doesn't do anything other than change the wallpaper and app drawer icon. I then use the standard Nexus blue wallpaper.
You can get the same result by using the Google Now launcher. Plus it's an official app. You'll also get the "Okay google" function from any screen using this launcher instead.

Sure you can use google now, or nova or apex. That's not the point. For various reasons some people, myself included, want to use the stock Asus launcher. This is just a way to have it slightly nearer in appearance to stock lollipop's material design. Oh, and "OK Google" from any screen is available in the stock launcher too - it's an option in Google settings.

Sorry, I don't know how to share links for google play store apps (there's no sharing option like there is on apple app store). But if you search "LolliPop Colored theme" it will be top of the search results (it's by Alper Selzer)
I installed xposed framework yesterday. Using gravitybox module to activate softkeys (and expanded desktop so that can hide them again easily). Then used Xstana module to change the ASUS softkeys and status bar icons to Lollipop style. With WM Density changed to 270 (on my 550) I now have the stock ASUS Launcher just how I want it
Im still not root but i envy those navigation bars
guess have to get one too hehe
iphone
Now we can easily get iphone looks without any file, in latest ASUS launcher.

Because you have ASUS Apps on your ZenFone 2, not Google Apps.
Nova launcher with glim icon pack
I have all Google app installed I think.
What do you mean by Google App ?
Asus say me to see whith Google but Google says me to see whith ASUS.
Thnaks for your help.
What apps' icons are you talking about? If you mean things like settings, dialer and downloads, then you have ASUS versions instead of Google/AOSP, so the icons are different. Using Google Now launcher won't change those icons.
Don't get me wrong.... I love Google search, but how do I get rid of the search bar from every screen? I can't drag it away. Is there a menu setting somewhere I'm missing?
Get a new Launcher i.e. Nova, very stock like but no Google Search bar, only bad part is that there's no "Now" Page to the left. GNL editor isnt update for Marshmallow yet I dont think since we dont have xposed on M.

Ah yes..... Dummy me didn't think that Google now launcher would of course be the stock launcher for a Nexus. Face palm. Might have to try out Nova. I haven't used a different launcher since my Droid Incredible days.
Any idea how to enable round icons on Galaxy S8 like tbe ones on the Pixel? I do not want to use custom launcher. I have installed Pixel Launcher and Pixel launcher icons but still does not give me the round icons for many apps like Youtube, Play Store, Play Music, etc. I hope someone could help me out.
Use nova launcher and a pixel icon pack. Works fine for me
There is no way to have them round.
That being said, samsung did include a frame option in an attempt to make the icons unified as look.
You can find that option in settings - display - icon frames.

I don't believe that there is no way. I have seen before that it's like a one line of code that triggers the use of round icons of the app as long as the app itself supported it. I just can't seem to find that thread now.

Hey, sorry if this has been asked before somewhere -- is there any more or less up to date APK of the Google Now Launcher? Unfortunately in Play Store is says my device is not compatible.
Check apkmirror for a download.
Not sure if it needs to be modded to run on other devices, haven't used it since the Pixel Launcher came out.
Thank you! I just found one Pixel Launcher so far. Its great but the Problem is that everytime I go to my homescreen the app icons above the Google search bar jump up and down slightly 4 or 5 times, really annoying couldnt find a way to deactivate that.
