Every time I turn the screen off, the phone vibrates 2 times with about 5 seconds delay. I have tracked this vibration down to fingerprint scanner. Its seems to be an indication of it going to sleep. When you turn the screen off, you can place your finger on the scanner and it will wake the screen up. This function is active for few seconds, and then the scanner goes to sleep (signalized by the vibration).
Anyone know how to turn this notification off? Or even better, how to disable this whole function entirely so the scanner sleeps immediately after screen goes off?
Additional information
the Vibration occurs even if you turn the screen on after turning it off but before the vibration (seems irregular though)
the time of the vibration changes with the lock time setting
turning off notification vibrations entirely helps, but I dont want to do that
not using the fingerprint unlock helps too, but I would prefer to keep using it

Hey. My g928c is runnin on custom rom/kernel. Not sure that could be the same or not but when I turn off the screen, it doesnt wake without pressing home or power button. Maybe you use easyHome app or kind of app which uses fingerprint sensor. My device doesnt wake up after turned the screen off and placing a finger on the scanner or etc. As I remember, easyHome app has got that wake up option but in one of older versions. I hope you solve it..
Oh, I was sure this behavior was caused by the sensor, but now that I actually switched back default locker, it doesnt do it. So the issue is entirely in the Hi Locker I am using. I should have checked that in the first place. So thank you. Now my question changes. Are there any more locker options that use fingerprint scanners other than the default and hi locker?

Glad to know you solved it. Im using default lockscreen and never wondered any others lol. Maybe you try{if didnt} Go launcher's go locker etc. Dont know anything more in this case sorry, good luck.
I tried few other alternatives and honestly they were way too cumbersome and bloated. For now I revoked Hi Locker's permission to make notifications, which got rid of the vibration. I hope nothing broke with this modification. Thanks for getting me on track.
Occasionally, my fingerprint reader won't activate when my phone is locked. I put my finger over it, and the screen won't turn on - It doesn't even recognize my finger is there. When I turn the phone on, and put in my passcode, the fingerprint reader starts working again (apps like Robinhood). If I then lock the phone, the fingerprint reader starts working again. Over the course of a day however, it stops working numerous times and I have to put in a passcode to get the phone unlocked.
I'm using action launcher, but I don't have "double tap" to turn off power enabled...so not sure what it could be. Seems like its a software issue vs. hardware? I'm stock, no root.
Uninstall robinhood, it broke imprint in the last update
here is other thread already on topic

Kind of having a love hate relationship with the finger print scanner on my newly acquired Note 4. One issue I did google but couldn't find any satisfactory or substantial information on was the fact when the scanner recognises my finger print it more often than not immediately switches off the screen!! I then have to press the on/off button to get the screen back on to use and it lets me straight in!!
Has anyone else encountered this issue and if so why is this happening?
Thanks
Mine does the same. I was not worried get, but I'll follow the discussions here to see where it gets.
disable power saving mode and it wont do that. it happens because of powersaving screen times out in 2-3 seconds so if u swipe finger it will unlock but the screen will turn off.........Old Bug.
Thank you ahmed, had my alerts filtered so didn't realise you had replied. Pity there is no fix
My phone was working this fine until this evening my fingerprint to unlock used to vibrate on success and vibrate if print didn't read. From my extensive good search I found that "touch vibration" is the option I need to select and of course that option is on. I have no idea what to do because one minute it was working and next it wasn't.
Does anyone have any idea? Software or hardware issue? My phone vibrates just fine on other notifications and gestures, just not the unlock vibration.

Have you used any screen guard apart from the official one?
Mine does not vibrate when using the FPR as well. Thought this is normal.

To the first poster, I'm using the screen protector that came with the phone from the factory.
Does your phone vibrate when your fingerprint is read wrong or not recognized? Also my vibration for navigation gestures is stuck on light. Meaning no matter what I change it to (light, med, strong) it will stay light. I'm in contact with OnePlus support and they are reaching out to their ROM team to see if anything has changed.
If wrong or not recognized, it does not vibrate as well. Changing the settings has no efect as well.
The OnePlus 6T's fingerprint sensor can easily be bypassed with this trick. . We have confirmed it working on two phones so far. Phone Unlocks itself via camera and voice from Lock screen, plz some one report..
Please confirm that the phone cannot see your face when you unlock it, and no Smart Lock trigger was active.
This alleged problem does not exist on my phone.

No i turned off face unlock , it just unlocks itself, just open the camera from lockscreen then close the camera app,
no , i turned off face unlock, it unlocks itself from launching camera from lockscreen thn closing the camera app, it bypasses all security locks " fingerprint , pins and face unlock"
We shall wait for others to check. I couldn't reproduce the error at all.
Do not have this problem with mine, are you sure you don't have your left thumb registered?

Yeah I can't reproduce this error either.

Either way if this is true. you should be reporting it to OnePlus. Not telling everyone on XDA how to break into someone elses 6T

So if I'm hearing you right, you're saying that by opening the camera from the lockscreen and then pressing your home button, your phone unlocks? Doesn't do that for me, it prompts me for my PIN or fingerprint when I press the home button. Can't reproduce this either... Might reinstall OOS? I'm at a loss for advice on this one.
I can reproduce this. I use navigation gestures, so opening the camera from the lockscreen and then just close it with the right (or left) swipe gesture to go back and you're in the phone. I don't think it has anything to do with the fingerprint sensor.
Edit: now I can't reproduce it anymore strange.. [emoji848]
I'm not able to reproduce this either. Switched to navigation gestures. Turned off face unlock. Launched camera from lock screen. Swipe from side to go back took me to lock screen with fp prompt only, no keypad for PIN. Tried again, this time swiping from middle to go home. I get fp prompt & keypad for PIN. However, with this screen the camera stays open and viewable through the lockscreen, but phone is still locked.
After a few tries I see my home screen but it's only a flash then it's back to my lock screen. It looks like it may want to but maybe I'm doing it wrong. Either way, this looks important enough to report to OP and see what's what.

Tilted phone so it can't capture my face and tried as you've said - running camera and voice commands from lockscreen and phone is still locked, cannot bypass..
So there are two vartiants.
1) Phone still recognizes your face
2) Enabled smart unlock? so phone knows that you are in home and automatically unlocks device.

Nope, i unlocked my friends mobile @ my home...
You sure you have a pin/fp/pattern set up at all?
I've been trying for 5 minutes with gestures and it always just either asks me for a pin or sends me back to the lock screen.
Seems odd but maybe post it on the OP forums instead of here, won't get them to fix it if they aren't aware of it...
Nope. Unable to reproduce.
