More Infinity Wallpapers - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Is Samsung allowing developers and themers to make their own infinity wallpapers? I am hoping to be able to get more and change them up more often.

Are there any other infinity wallpapers available but the ones that are pre installed?

[Q] Would open-sourced Eden/NI software make a viable Honeycomb alternative?

I just got my Adam on Friday, and have been enjoying it without having done anything too hackish to it yet (thanks largely in part to the Amazon appstore).
I'm not really sold on the Eden UI system yet - it still feels a little bit buggy and not fully baked to me, but it may have potential. But if it were open source, any of us could work to improve it, and I do remember it being mentioned on the blog that the NI software would be open sourced (correct me if I'm wrong, hard to understand precisely what is meant sometimes).
notionink.wordpress.com/2011/01/28/more-updates (can't post outside links as a new member)
Source for other Notion Ink’s Application: If you are looking for the code for any specific apps on the Adam, you can directly write to developers at notionink dot com and they will add you in the priority list! All the softwares developed by Notion Ink are open source and will be shared with the community soon. As far as the SDK goes, we are migrating from 2.2-2.3 to Honeycomb and once the platform is stable, will be shared with the developers.

Given that the Honeycomb source isn't to be released any time soon, I'm curious what people's opinions are about whether Eden/NI software could make a viable open-source alternative to Honeycomb?
Would you prefer an open-source Eden/Froyo/Gingerbread rom over a Honeycomb rom (if the Honeycomb source is closed)?
Or would you rater drop Eden and stick to Android roms? (whether they be Honeycomb or not)
Would you like to see Eden ported over to more tablets? (which may or may not support Honeycomb any time soon) Do you think it could be an effective Honeycomb alternative for other tablets?
EDIT: Had to shorten the poll answers, here's what I'm asking:
Honeycomb, even if it can't be rooted/customized - you just want Honeycomb at all costs and don't care about its hack potential
Honeycomb, rooted and customized - you want Honeycomb, but only if it can be effectively hacked/customized
I'd rather stick to an Eden/AOSP-based system - you want maximum flexibility and see Eden/latest android source as a viable alternative, or may be a purist in terms of open source
Drop Eden, latest open-source Android - you don't care for Eden, but do want your system open source
At the moment Eden sucks and gives no added value in my opinion.
Nevertheless I would like to see a Honeycomb Eden version.
If I should choose right here and know I would choose Honeycomb (and of course it can be customized and rooted - its a bit foolish to think that this will not happen...)
@rolliradi8 : +1
I really don't like eden, loving Beast or VEGAn ROMs thought..
But honeycomb would be super awesome!
Allthough I am also really excited for trying Mad Murdock's CM7 ROM..

Holo Everywhere

Interesting for everyone that likes the ICS original experience!
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2012/01/holo-everywhere.html
And here's another one.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/03/google-makes-holo-theme-mandatory/
" Meanwhile, it seems terribly unlikely that Google's new mandate will bring choice to the home screen, keyboard and dialer as well. We can only hope, right?"
So, unfortunately if you thought you can just magically turn off tw or sense? Wrong!
This only applies to app developers and it only mandates for manufacturers to carry png's and other theme elements from these native android themes in framework so that app designers can call upon them in his app without having to carry those same elements in their apps.

This is good news. At least third party apps will not be automatically touchwizzed. They will still retain the ICS look.
Since rooted users will also be able to theme the Touchwiz interface to look exactly like ICS, problem solved.
Holo will be required, but apparantly it's still permitted for a vendor to have its own overlay too...
Source: http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2135159/google-looks-standardise-android-interface
when can we download from market?
Oh! Some *****ing will be stopped now nagging about pure ICS look and blah blah......
They will find a new subject now though......
This is good news.
Theming will be mandatory. Launcher and customizations won't. Until google puts its foot down (Which they won't... Yet.) to impose all customizations to stop (Which cannot... Yet.), then we will keep modded launchers, dialers, keyboards, etc. but with ICS theme elements (Colors, buttons, layout of settings and systems, etc.)
Google stands to lose too much by imposing all companies to stick to Vanilla. This though, is a very good start in the right direction... Baby steps. There are no variants of the iphone's theme, it's all standardized out of the box. Why would Android have to be any different? It just fragments the OS and providers further by changing all theme elements to their likings and by adding their own versions of apps.
The only advantage of every android player having their own theme elements is choice and variety of software.

because ios is boring and some people quite like having choice and something that differentiates different models.

[Q] Do you like Samsung's Magazine UX for android 4.4?

Samsung revealed their new tablets today, with android 4.4 and a new UI. I can't decide if I like it or not.
Also, do you think they will bring it to the Note 3, and will the 4.4 update make root harder?
i'm atheist but it's time for a little prayer
god please don't let samsung do this to us, fellow note 3/s4 users
we've done nothing wrong, please don't punish us
jokes aside, i think its super ugly even tho Android Authority (i think) is praising it as pretty "simplistic" "clean" "good refreshed touchwiz" design
this is bull****. Apple hasn't made anything copy-worthy in past one year so now copy windows 8? This stupid thing is simply live tiles (or watevz Micro$oft calls them) combined with the ****ty my magazine app and slapped on top of previous TouchWiz. I can't say i prefer it to old touchWiz
Well.. I liked it.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using xda app-developers app
There are already reports that small OTA update took away root, so it's 99% sure any new update will make root harder, the patch is ready now.
If it looks remotely like the new Win 8 Live Tile interface, I hate it already without seeing it, Win 8 is the most ugly, useless thing ever conceived. At least thanks MS for ability to downgrade to Win 7.
Anyone got a link so I can have a peek?, can't seem to find it for some random reason
It looks awful. Can't we please just get core android and be done with these pointless skins? Add Touchwiz as an option or something, yeugh.
I'll stick with Apex as the launcher, and Zooper Widget on the lockscreen...

Thanks. - and by God they are ugly... ugh
But I need to know is that a launcher or configuration in the system ui if it was a launcher hope to see it on xda if not then R.I.P samsung
Yes
I Think its new Idea ..
I like it
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I actually look forward to it
Samsung didn't copy windows 8, they did something similar to chameleon launcher except they removed the app dock.
I guess it really helps especially on a 12.2 in tab where you can get every thing on one screen (calendar, weather, mail, feed, and favorite apps and content without the ugly touchwiz app dock)
it says under testing...so i hope it still is....it needs a couple of key improvements especially on the icons...if it goes a lot closer to kitkat's original icons....then this new UI gets my vote...at this point...anything's better than the current touchwiz...been seeing it since s3...eyesore now
I want the new Magazine UX !!
I know most people don't like the new UI from the NotePro tablet, but I really do. Is there a launcher that is quite similar to this or can someone even port this to the note 3? I'm already using Chameleon launcher but it just doesn't cut it. Anyone?
Those things look like widgets to me and you could probably delete them and it would look the same. Im not a big widget guy. I got widgest but no on the home screen.

Working free Themes for G6?

The most good Themes on Playstore are not free. Is there a good site for free themes or a telegram group for lg themes?
You don't think good themes are worth paying ~$2? Im sure if you have a G6, you wont notice $2 from your bank account.
I think the free themes from LG are boring and lame. Sucks there's not many free themes and I"m on a fixed income so i choose wisely if i have to buy one. i just finally found a green one I love so i paid for it without hesitation. That being said i miss my 10-15 free themes i had on my GS7. so much i can't wait to get another Galaxy though i hate the curved screens and fingerprint scanner placement. The G6 has the best working fingerprint reader that works for my fingers of the phones i've had. I don't understand why LG doesn't open the theme store to 3rd party developers so the themes can all be found in a central place. And why they have such dorky themes. reminds me of the dorky boring themes Google offered for the Chrome browser before they allowed third party themes. The G6 would do better if their theme site was more flexible, if they tweaked their camera software and other stuff that could be tweaked better and better advertising if they hadn't already. but then again the average person don't use themes, i don't know anyone personally who does even though i encourage them to take advantage of the cool themes in the Samsung theme store. The average person don't care if the picture is too blue or red or whatever. just look at the photos on Facebook people post. stuff that i would delete immediately like blurring or totally orange selfies with bad white balance. sorry i drifted off topic.
Have you installed smart world there's many free themes in there
Do themes have a performance impact on the g6?

They do allow 3rd party themes you just need a developer account on lg smart world.
I like this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.pixel.ui&hl=cs
The phone looks much better, the original LG themes are so ugly and does not look good with icons of 3rd party apps.
And it is not so expensive, you can't expect somebody doing nice themes for free...

I wonder why nobody uploads there then? It would be easier to find themes when they're all in one place.

There is only a handful of theme developers at the moment, I believe some do but you can also find them on the google play store.

It takes some digging to find them on the Play Store. I already knew they were there. But it would be easier if they were uploaded to Smartworld where they can all be together to be found easier. Like Samsung's theme store and app. I can't wait to go back to a Samsung phone because of that. And other reasons.
