Notification Drawer - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

is it just me ? I have used Tmobile and Verizon S7 on Nougat. And with both I have had trouble drawing down notification panel from any area on top of screen. I had to try 3 to 5 times before it responds. At first I thought it was the otterbox on both. But without the case its same issue. Could it be because i use the lowest display zoom . is this a general issue?

Note 4 screen issues (air bubbles)

Hi,
I got my unit and after 7 days few air bubbles appeared (near front camera, near home button).
My screen got replaced (it was faster than returning and getting a new unit) and second screen has the same issue (but this time near the speaker).
I'm just wondering if this is a common issue with big screens or I'm just not very lucky one? I googled a little and seems that others had the same issues (on Galaxy tabs).
Later I will add a photo.

YES I have this as well, top-right of my screen. It seems like I can wipe/gently scrape it away then it just reappears randomly a few minutes later or if I'm moving in/out of a building
It looks like moisture has built up under the screen which is impossible because I only ever put my phone in my pocket or on my bed and desk, I don't jog with it or take it into the bathroom when showering.
I missed my 14-day window to request straight-swap, don't know if I now want to have it sent back under warranty as that can take weeks and I'll be travelling soon.
Kinda sucks I always notice it now and I'm worried it will get worse.
Here's mine, just after cleaning the screen. You can see the outline where it's starting to form again... Soon it'll fill up like a white cloud in that area to the edge of the screen. Looks much more prominent in daylight but it's getting dark here now.
That's exactly the same:
If you wipe - it disappears and reappears after few seconds.
Temperature changes reveals air bubbles very quickly.
Seems that this issue is quite common.
I will bring my device to Samsug warranty/repair shop after my travels as well.
Anybody else have same issues?
Samsung replaces screens (because of air bubbles) in your countries without any problems?

Yes, when going from my air-conditioned office to the hot weather outside it instantly becomes more prominent. And vice-versa -if I clear it and then go inside where it's colder, it reappears again. I do recall having a similar issue with the Note 3, it surrounded the top speaker but it was less obvious. This covers a larger area, including part of the actual screen rather than just bezel area.

Power on Edge Screen Without Power Button

In playing around with my Verizon Note Edge today, I discovered I was able to turn on the Edge screen by quickly swiping from the bottom of the edge screen, up about a third of the way, and then quickly back down (starting at the top and swiping down and then back up also works). It turns on the night clock and then started scrolling showing any pending notifications...pretty sweet! I do have the flip case on the phone, but did remove it to test it without and it still seemed to work. I have not been able to find anything documented on this, but it worked for me. Anyone else? I am really glad I made the decision to wait for the Edge!

I use action launcher 3 as launcher replacement and it has a tap feature that allows you to tap on the screen to turn it off, similar to LG G2 and G3... I use it all the time. not the same as what you posted but I wanted to share just in case someone is wondering

This hidden features hardly people knows but I already know this thing.
This can also be a hassle as I found out when the edge screen kept on rubbing against the inside of my pocket and accidentally turn on and drain my battery.
You must have some pretty tight jeans for it to do that...

This is a really cool feature - I notice that your screen stays on for sometime while scrolling thru your notifications... I have the VZW Note Edge as well but my screen times out within 30 seconds regardless of what I have my "Edge screen timeout" set to in system settings / Edge Screen - is there another way to keep the Edge screen active or from timing out so quick?
Just with the setting you already mentioned...it seems to work for me.
Use the gravity app....
Excellent app. I only use the power button to turn phone on and off...
And the bonus has been I don't accidently turn off the screen when turning volume up and down... was a constant menace on my note 2

Weird burn-in issue on cm13

Hello, been visiting the boards for a long time, but I didn't register because I had nothing to contribute really. <.<
I currently have a i9505 running on cm13 6.0.1.
Last night when I wanted to reply to a text I used the right side lock screen shortcut that's set to messaging the circular motion thingy messed up the edge of my screen. (I didn't realize until later that it's not actually a hardware issue if you ask me.)
Some pictures, screenshots don't register anything:
CAN'T POST IMAGES because I'm a new user. :/
It's on imgur, with /a/Murqy extension after .com. Album of three images.
Messaging shortcut thingy on the second screen is a lock-screen burn in, as is lock screen in the middle of the first screen.
Sorry for the garbage quality screens, I don't have any other spare phone except for the ancient Sony Ericsson with me atm.
At first this obviously looks like some display issue or a burn-in. I've checked the display, it has absolutely no scratches.
I've also read about the quality issues of some S4 phones and glass+display being glued together which can lead to yellowish tint. And how display breaks easily because of bad build quality and too much pressure being put on the display itself.
Anyhow, ever since that brown/yellow thing appeared the right/left lock screen shortcut animations stopped showing. And that thing is the exact size of the lock screen shortcut animation.
Also, those three burned in lock screen buttons, phone/unlock/messaging aren't really burn ins. When I try to press any of them in the bugged state when the screen is already unlocked, the dropdown menu activates. Also when I use dropdown menu myself, those 3 buttons are instantly gone without leaving a trace. And when the dropdown menu is activated, the yellowish corner translates from the background to the menu itself. Icons on the home screen in the background aren't yellow anymore, but icons in the dropdown menu are.
So, I'm completely at loss what to do here. I don't wanna use one of those burn in removal apps to mess my phone up, I don't have a warranty because I got it used like less than a month ago and everything was working fine. And I don't wanna take it to a repair shop because they'll just tell me the display is messed up.
There's just too much coincidence here for me to believe it's a classic case of display burn in.
Why wouldn't lock screen shortcut animations show up anymore if that was the case? Even on the left side which is completely fine. And it just appeared out of nowhere when I used one of those shortcuts. As if animation is stuck in there.
Sorry for the wall of text, but wanted to explain it in detail as I couldn't find anything similar anywhere else. <.<

I'm not familiar with burn-ins, but since it's a used phone the probability of the screen being messed up is high.
If it really is a software glitch, the only option would be to flash a different rom. If it continues, flash a stock rom via Odin. If the problem still persists, then it's most probably a hardware issue.
Remember, the flashes have to be clean flashes. As clean as possible. Dirty flashes won't help, especially when trying to find the root of a problem.
I've had it for nearly a month now and I didn't have a single issue.
As I've said, it's probably not a burn in because it just appeared like that due to one animation.
And since it's also there when I boot into recovery I don't think flashing a new ROM would help.

Is this gradient (around the icon) visible to naked eye? This is really nasty Just a guesswork: this could be one of failure modes for amoled. I have 8 weird rectangles burned in over the whole screen and really don't know where they came from.
Check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2603039 evidently even light from outside can burn in your screen.

Yea, it's visible.
That's the far right shortcut on the dock.
But the weird thing is that it just disappears if I try to click it.
Same goes for the lock screen shortcuts as I've said already, that's why I'm not sure it's a regular case of screen burn.
And when I pull down the dropdown menu, the color of the desktop goes back to normal, but dropdown menu icons in the bottom right turn yellowish, as if the tint translated to the screen that's being used at that moment.
After I realized that I tried to mess around with color saturation and brightness.
Changing brightness had no effect, lowering it would just make that corner darker, but as I dropped down color saturation on all of the RGB components more and more it became less and less noticable.
But the buggy lock screen shortcuts still puzzle me. They remain on the desktop after I unlock the phone, but are instantly gone as soon as I click them.
If it wasn't for that, I'd be pretty sure the screen broke because of bad build quality. I read about the display having too much pressure put on it, somewhat of a design flaw.
Gonna try that burn in app, what's the worst thing that could happen to a broken display. <.<

Does it disappear if you press and hold without actually doing something? Make a screenshot and display the image fullscreen as if it was lockscreen, will it happen again? While showing the screenshot, press and hold on the icon, any change?
Does all of the gradient disappear or just the icon burn in?

If I hold it, it actually works (eg taking me to messages or phone menu as if the screen was locked). It doesn't appear on screenshot, only after I unlock the phone. That's what's puzzling me, it's not actually burned in, it looks like an issue with the display when I change screens (from locked to unlocked or switching from desktop to broswer like in that screenshot with the burned in icon, as soon as I click it it also disappears, same as shortcuts).
And gradient gradually disappears as I lower the color saturation. Disappears fully at around 30% for all RGB components. But brightness is way too low then.

I know, I just wanted you to make your phone display the same content as if it was locked - but now the image would be screenshot and not the actual lockscreen... I know this sounds really wild, but I don't see any better troubleshooting ideas here

I get your point, like I'm leaning towards display issue but not a classic one but a weird one because it has issues with switching screens.
Idk, I'm gonna roll with this for a couple more days, if it gets worse it's definitely the display.

Maybe tomorrow if I find a half-decent camera.
Actually, I made a screencast.
https://media.giphy.com/media/3oGRFj88fgqgT3vWrS/giphy.gif
As you can see, after I unlock the screen, all three shortcuts are burned in.
When I press the burned in unlock icon it just briefly opens the dropdown menu (it wasn't me opening it at that point, when I clicked the lock screen icon in the middle)
Yellow tint in the bottom can't be seen on the video.

[Q] Disabling the touchscreen on the edges?

*** MOD EDIT: thread closed, please go here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/hate-edge-screen-how-disable-t3442697 ***
I often find myself inadvertently touching a bit of the screen when I hold my phone (usually when I'm lying in bed) and it's pretty annoying. I don't like having to shift my grip to just the sides as I constantly feel like I'm about to drop it.
I've also found that I simply don't use any of the edge features aside from sometimes the "Edge panels" which is restricted to a narrow part of the right edge next to the power button. Is there a way to disable a few milimeters of the touchscreen on both sides and even better, have a 'cutout' to activate the edge panel?
No doubt people will read this and wonder why I got an Edge in the first place, and not the standard S7. It was for the looks, bigger battery and bigger screen.
Hey, i got the s7 edge a few weeks ago too and this is annoying me a lot as well. Did you manage to fix it somehow?
I started a better thread for this at https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/hate-edge-screen-how-disable-t3442697/page2

Touch screen sensitivity adjustment missing

Has anyone found a way to adjust the touch sensitivity of the screen like on the older models. You used to be able to adjust it very sensitive to work with gloves. It seems that this screen is a little less sensitive than the S7. I find myself having to double tap a lot of things. Is it there and I am just missing it?
Good Question...but no reply yet
Yes mine is also not sensetive enough, i also have s8 plus and its much more sensetive
S8+ touch sensitivity issue
I am having an S8+ and facing the same sensitivity issue. It's very slow to respond and most of the times take more than one tap to respond. And there are no adjustments found!!
Pranabesh Das
Up. Having the same issue on my S8.
Yeah sometimes I have to tap apps 3-4 times to get them to launch.
Do you all have screen protectors? I have one but I don't want to remove it cause I paid a lot for it.
I also have weak touch sensitivity on my Galaxy S8, I have to tap several times on a certain app to open it, so frustrating, will probably return my device! :/
My S8+ is over sensitive...
Is there any fix for this +
Same issues on my S8. Most time i must push 2 or 3 time to open a app.
