So maybe someone can help:
I have noticed there is no way to cast the screen of my S7 Edge to my chromecast without installing the Google Home app.
Is this normal?
I find it annoying that this feature thats built into pretty much every android 5+ is not available directly in the rom.
I am running superman rom + superman kernel btw. Yes the superman rom has a way to add the "chromecast" tile to the quick tiles... But again... This should be all ready to go in stock android no?
Ok so I fixed it.
My TV I guess has 2 chromecast like settings : Chromecast (since its an Android TV) and Screen Mirroring.
With my previous phones, the chromecast setting enabled and screen mirroring disabled was enough. With the S7 Edge, the TV would not show up under devices with screen mirroring disabled.
I enabled it, and it showed up under quick connect right away. Awesome!

I had rooted prior to lollipop but when i flashed 5.0 I did a full wipe and went back to 100% stock. today I tried to use screen mirroring and kept getting "unable to start screen mirroring because of a hardware issue" , after a quick google search it looks like Sammy disables screen mirroring on modified systems even though I was no longer rooted.
Long story short I ended up rooting again and edited the build.prop file and added "wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable" at the end. This fixed miracast and it connects perfectly however the audio is out of sync on the TV. I know there is a slight delay between the phone and TV with the TV being behind a bit but would be in sync with the audio. Now it seems the audio is in sync with the phone and ahead on the TV.
Anyway to fix this?
bump?
So I have managed to install and download Daydream and Daydream games. When I launch it, either I get the games running in full screen 2D mode (which is useless for VR) or sometimes I get a black screen with the vertical white centre line. Occasionally I hear sound but there is no visual content. Just black screen.
I have tried the sailfish build prop entry.
I have tried pixelify majisk module.
I have of course added the needed 2 lines to etc permissions file.
I have tried a combination of enabling and disabling the above. Nothing works. It's driving me nuts.
I am on latest 7.0 official rom. No custom ROM, just rooted.
What puzzles me I hear so many people getting to to work straight away. Do I need the official Daydream headset? Maybe they don't work as no NFC chip is detected.
I wonder if it only works on phones with Snapdragon and not Exynos?
Anyone succeed?
No one?
Hi did anyone else loose the ability to control Samsung Music and SoundCloud after the update? I can see Spotify and Power Amp though.
I did. I'm running Android 7.0 and my watch is a Verizon Wear24. Since the update, running the stock player on my phone does not trigger media controls on the watch anymore. This worked perfectly before, and is 80% of what I use the watch for. Everything else seems to work as usual.
Yes, I have the same problem . I just updated to version Wear OS 2.0 and there is no media control for Samsung S9+ (using Samsung Music).
Thanks at least I know it's not an issue with my phone! Really didn't want to do a factory reset.
You don't see the media section below the other options when you swipe down ?
Anyone found a fix for this?
Is there anyone experiencing problems in casting screen? I dont know why but evreytime i connect my device, it lags. then eventually it disconnects. i hope somebody help me with this matter.
First off, make sure your chromecast device share the same wireless network (not wired) as your phone. Install Google Home, see if the device is ready for Chromecasting.
Mine works alright.
This is weird but I had lag when casting on stock Oreo. Now it is absolutely smooth even while playing 1080p 10bit x265. My internet and chromecast device are the same, nothing has changed except that now Im on stock Pie. Maybe try removing your device from google home and set it up again.
I have just got rid of my s9 to get the 6t and now I cant seem to get the galaxy wearable app on my 6t to see my watch.. seeing as they are pretty much exact same chipsets.. is it some in the build.prop I can edit to get it to work?
Not sure about editing the build.prop but I have the Gear Fit 2 Pro and the Gear S3 Frontier both connected to my 6T. I found that sometimes the app is kind of finicky to get connected and I will have to turn Bluetooth off and on again, sometimes a couple of times to get connected the first time. Also keep the screen on your phone on to see if there is a popup to connect. Maybe even cycle the watch off and back on also along with the phone if all else fails. I was ready to give up at one point and it all the sudden connected. If none of that works I'm not sure what else to try but maybe someone else will have some ideas.

Along with the Galaxy Wearable app there is also a Gear S Plugin that needs to be installed. The first time I set up my Gear S3 Frontier the plugin was automatically installed but when I had to set my watch up a second time I had to manually install the plugin.

I have the gear S3 frontier and fit2 pro. I paired them with minimal issues. Did you reset your watch before trying to pair it?
I have an S3 Frontier, and every clean install ROM switch I have to reset the watch. I think they do it for security purposes? Unless someone knows something I don't, I've never found a way to reconnect the watch to a different device without resetting the watch. The backup of the watch puts everything right back once connected, but still kind of annoying (as it adds back in "removed" programs and such).
I have to use the MagiskHide Props Module to get all the correct things installed for my watch to work. However on a stock 6T it should just work. That module should only come into play on a rooted / unlocked device.
