Screen Mirroring hardware issue - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had rooted prior to lollipop but when i flashed 5.0 I did a full wipe and went back to 100% stock. today I tried to use screen mirroring and kept getting "unable to start screen mirroring because of a hardware issue" , after a quick google search it looks like Sammy disables screen mirroring on modified systems even though I was no longer rooted.
Long story short I ended up rooting again and edited the build.prop file and added "wlan.wfd.hdcp=disable" at the end. This fixed miracast and it connects perfectly however the audio is out of sync on the TV. I know there is a slight delay between the phone and TV with the TV being behind a bit but would be in sync with the audio. Now it seems the audio is in sync with the phone and ahead on the TV.
Anyway to fix this?

[Q] Sound Lag

Hello,
I am getting a 1 second sound delay effecting menu and all apps after the device is left on over night, tried factory resetting and with and without sleep mode. Has anyone else experienced this issue or have a solution for me?
Thanks
I was going to say the same thing. I have random one second lag in YouTube (rarely), BSDroid (always), but not in Plex or Kodi. The problem is fixed by pausing in YouTube and jumping forward on BSDroid. It's a big pain as these issues don't affect the chrome cast I have on the same TV and network.
I don't have to wait, it's pretty much out of the box. I have tried stock 5.1.1, rooted 5.1.1, CM12 nightlies, and all AOSP roms available. I feel like it's an issue with the Google Cast app? I'll try 5.1 and see if the situation changes tomorrow.
I haven't even bothered rooting mine yet, as this issue goes right down into the system. Even moving around the menu their is a 1 second delay in the sound. Only goes away with a reboot.
I think I may have found my issue, it seems that when I put the TV into PC mode to fix the overscan I get this sound lag after the TV turns off and then back on again. still troubleshooting it though.
Waited a while to get some new nightlies out and still the same problem. Tried 3 different TVs, all casted audio is delayed and has to be reset. Guess i have a junker now

Changing Languages Automatically?

Since the 6.0 update (I updated automatically via OTA), my Nexus Player changes language to Korean (I believe - it's the last language in the list) randomly. It's done it twice overnight, and just now it changed in the middle of a show on Netflix. I was watching Netflix, and the show stopped and tried to buffer. I exited Netflix to try to load again, and the language had been changed to Korean. Now my Netflix is no longer working.
Has anyone encountered this issue? It's driving me nuts.
I have the same thing since the 6.0 marshmallow update. For my device the language changes from dutch to english(australian).
This is crazy. It happens to me all the time. (korean/last on the list)
I just flashed mra58k again, wiped everything and it's still doing it!!
It's very easy to replicate and it happens all the time, I don't understand how this can happen on a stable release.
I'm not sure if it's directly related, but it happens to me when I change the hdmi input on my receiver/TV.
Log output:
Code:

Wow, thanks for saving me the trouble of flashing the images and starting over - I just won't bother if it isn't worth it. Did you format the /system partition before you re-flashed the images?
I did quite a bit of searching around the web before I posted this thread, and this bug doesn't seem to be wildly reported.
What kind of TV/receiver do you have the Nexus Player attached to?
I'm using a Yamaha receiver and an LG 55LV5500 television. I suspect that's not very helpful information, but I'm really stumped by this bug.
You're able to replicate conditions for this to happen? Every time you switch inputs? It's very random for me. It was English when I started watching Netflix, and Korean when I finished watching a couple episodes and exited the Netflix app.
Can anyone more familiar with the Google bug tracker check to see if something like this is in there? If not, can we submit this bug?
I flashed the stock image (fastboot flash system system.img) and then factory reset from recovery.
I also have an LG TV (49UB830), connected to Onkyo TX-SR608.
It doesn't happen every time, but usually it does.
My common scenario is this: I change the input from the TV to "cable" and when I change back to HDMI and wake up the Nexus Player with the remote, after a few seconds the launcher refreshes itself with the new language. (if it's not already changed)
I don't think it's the only scenario, but it's the most common one for me. And it's annoying because it happens several times a day.
The config change is probably triggered by a change in the HDMI state.
LE: It does happen every time, I just need to wait for daydream/backdrop to kick in. (5 minutes, while the input is NOT on the Nexus Player)
LE2: It's not actually related to backdrop. I tried to disable it and the language still changes. I guess it just needs a few seconds.
Turn off RIHD
Ok, this issue has been driving me crazy and you guys gave me some ideas of things to test when you mentioned that it happens during input selection changes. My setup is an LG TV 60LA620V and Onkyo TX-SR608 receiver.
I've discovered that if the HDMI RIHD setting on the receiver and the SimpLink setting on the TV are both on, the issue is happening. If I turn off either of those, the issue goes away.
I turned it off on the receiver, as that still allows me to control the Player with the TV remote and I don't make use of the Audio Return Channel anyway.
Can anyone confirm this finding?
I entered this in the Android Issue Tracker:

Someone has replied and requested a bug report, but I cannot figure out how to capture one on this device. Can someone help?
Apparently this should do it:
Code:
adb bugreport > bugreport.txt
I will try to submit one myself.
Disabling HDMI RIHD it's not a solution for me, as I use and need Audio Return Channel.

Awesome, thanks!
I agree - If I disable the HDMI-CEC on either the TV or the receiver, then the Nexus Player is unable to change input automatically when I cast to it. I'd rather deal with changing the language for now rather than cripple the Chromecast function of the player.
Glad I am not the only person with this issue. Very frustrating!
Has there been any update on this one?
Common factor seems to be the LG tv and Simlink as this is what I also have setup.
hahaha mine happens when I exit netflix. English to Korean.
I updated to MRA58N, but I have the same issue.
Crazy thought: can I remove Korean? or maybe all the languages except English?
Can it be done?
It should fix the problem.
You can go to this page and star the issue to give it some attention.
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=191068
It might also be helpful to post your TV and Receiver brand, as well as your logs. Mine's an LG TV from 2013 and Onkyo HT-RC560
I have this issue but I assumed it was DramaFever, the Korean tv app doing it. It wasn't happening before that app was installed so I just assumed (given their horrendous CS I wouldn't be surprised). Any chance you guys also have DramaFever installed???
Hi. I have the same boring problem, since today. I've just changed my TV. It's a Sony. The previous one was a Sony too.
How did you managed to restore your language ? Mine is French, and I can't even find anything I understand in the settings. Do I need to reset the device.
Thanks for your anwers.

And if there is no simple way to restore original language, can you tell me the exact way to choose it in settings (something like - setting, down 3 time, OK...).
Thanks again !
Last edit : it's quite simple to change in fact, via the world icon.
I unplugged the optical audio cable, disconnecting the Onkyo amp from the setup. Problem fixed. How? I have no idea.
Mine have the same issue. But i think it's deeper than languages. I had open a thread with my troubles, mine lost my account in the same time too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-player/help/bug-nexus-player-6-0-lost-accounts-t3296794
And for you?
There is a fix for the language part. It's not really a fix in fact, more like "trick" :
https://github.com/loadrunner/language-reset
It's just checking the language, and force it to the value of your choice.
Any Update?

Screen sharing issue

I am having an issue with screen sharing. It has always worked before today. Right now, when i screen share I get a black screen on both of my smart tvs. If i am playing a video I can still hear the sound. Also, if i share to my tv through youtube it works fine. If i share to my tv through the stock gallery app it also displays a picture. If i share to my tv using the stock video app it also displays fine. The issue only occurs when I use the screen sharing app itself to mirror the phone to the tv.
I have tried restarting the phone, pulling the battery, restarting the tvs, pulling the power wire for tvs from wall and restarting tv that way and I also tried restarting my router. I cannot figure this out and was wondering if anyone else has run into this issue and maybe has a fix. Thanks in advance.
Also, my phone is completely stock.
Did you install a security update from Verizon recently? I have an Lg v20 and am having a similar problem.
Sorry, hadn't had anyone reply to the thread so figured it was a lost cause. Im on at&t and yes I do remember getting a security update prior to this occuring. Still havent found a solution.
There seems to be a problem with the latest update for the 990DS as well .
Edit: Yes mine have the same issue after the update
Its odd that there hasnt been more people with this same issue. Im inclined to say its an issue with the last security update because theres 3 of us with similar situations. Just wish there was more info anywhere on the web about it. Either the 3 of us are experiencing an isolated issue or nobody uses screen share.
Just got another security update now. Tried the screen share and sure enough it is working once again.
Fingers crossed
I hope I receive a similar update.
I happen to have two v20’s and one will screen share at full screen and one screen shares at 4x3 with black bars in the sides. Is there a way to fix this nd screen share so it uses the full screen?
LG v20
When screen mirroring apps to my Samsung TV everything all good until I stream netflix, hbomax, espn & tnt. I get no picture/video, only audio and subtitles. Any solution?
I don't recall doing an update and this LG v20 is on T-Mobile network.

Sad to say goodbye... missing cast feature

I'm gonna go back to stock because it seems lineage is not going to get screen cast feature in my nexus 9 flounder. Already tried editing build.prop file... didn't work.
It's sad 'cause it's a really fast and well made rom, but it misses a critical feature for me.
Thanks for the great work!
I was having cast troubles with my Nexus 9 as well, but managed to resolve it. Here's what I did:
1) Dirty flash stock Gapps (I was on tiny).
2) Update my device to the latest LineageOS release.
3) Reset the Chromecast's WIFI setting.
After that full system casting started working again, though I did notice something weird - the system gets frozen for a few seconds after disconnecting, however it does come back and should I want to cast again - it still works.
Hope this helps anyone who comes across this thread.

Cast screen problem in Stock Pie build .064

Is there anyone experiencing problems in casting screen? I dont know why but evreytime i connect my device, it lags. then eventually it disconnects. i hope somebody help me with this matter.
First off, make sure your chromecast device share the same wireless network (not wired) as your phone. Install Google Home, see if the device is ready for Chromecasting.
Mine works alright.
This is weird but I had lag when casting on stock Oreo. Now it is absolutely smooth even while playing 1080p 10bit x265. My internet and chromecast device are the same, nothing has changed except that now Im on stock Pie. Maybe try removing your device from google home and set it up again.
