It goes with out saying that of course I love the screen on the phone. But something I love even more is the data speeds. On average at home I'm getting about 60 mbps which is crazy fast even faster that my home one, and over 100 at work. Amazing. Even the other day I only had, 0.2 mbps and Facebook still worked. So far I'm a happy camper.

I'm using an S8, but totally agree with you! Being in Australia, I am used to absolutely dismal data speeds, even on the Telstra network. Yesterday I had an app downloaded in under 3 seconds. That is unheard of for me. I am considered regional and only get 1 bar at best for reception, and I was downloading at a friends house and she gets even worse signal. Really impressed by this phone. If only it didn't feel like it was covered in oil! I'm terrified I'm going to drop it. Waiting for my case to arrive.
Here's an even better one... Whoa!!!!!

Reasons I am disappointed with S8
I actually like my S* fairly well. But Samsung has done some things that raise my ire: first the whole bait and switch tactic of saying you get a 256G and headphones for $99 if you pre-order. Seems the fine print say "limited" quantity. I would say nearly non-existent as I tried within 30 minutes of receiving my phone and it seems there are a ton of others who tried and failed. Very, Very Shady. Secondly they said they would have a no-questions asked return policy...I tested that and could not return my phone.
Other things that don't work well: fingerprint reader, facial recognition, iris scanner, Bixby and Google Now. All of the security recognition are spotty at best. The fingerprint is the most reliable, but sometimes I have to reboot the phone to get it working again and it is right next to the camera (bone head placement) It is also difficult to reach the fingerprint reader one handed and it takes alot of effort to get your finger just right. Might as well type in my password!!! Bixby right now is totally worthless. Hopefully it will mature, but I am not setting much expectations here as all other Samsung software is crapware.
Unfortunately the S8 appears to have broken Google Now I use to be able to click on an article, read it and then hit the X to exit and return to Google Now. The hitting the X to return to Google Now no longer works...it just goes back to the home screen. They really need to fix that NOW.
If anyone wants to buy a slightly used S8 for a discount let me know...as I think I'll be selling mine

Can't argue with the pre order thing. Nor Bixby. Nor google now as I haven't tried it on the S8, but the fingerprint reader on my S8+ works fine and placement is actually pretty natural to me with a case on.
If I had the cash i'd buy it but i'm sure people will snap your hand off for it online
Use the G now launcher and it works to return.

Well, been using my GS3 for about 4 days now and I must say that I am somewhat underwhelmed by it so far. The jump between my EVO to the Epic 4G Touch was much greater than that from the E4GT to the GS3 (as expected). However, there are 3 gripes that I just bothering me more than I initially thought they would:
1. Camera - The Epic 4G Touch's picture quality is light-years ahead than that of the GS3. This is really unacceptable for a flagship device. Sure, the shutter speed is quite fast, but the quality is just not there. Part of the reason I skipped over the Galaxy Nexus was the camera inferiority to the E4GT and here I am with the GS3. The HTC EVO LTE at the store seemed to take amazing pictures. Haven't compared them side-by-side, but I feel I'll be more disappointed if I do.
2. The power button - I don't see a lot of people complaining about this, but I'm having a difficult time adjusting to the power button. The curved bezel in conjunction with the flushness of the button makes it hard to find/press it most of the time. Even though it feels quite clickable, it takes some digging around every time I need to use it. I'm hoping that the Slim Case I ordered will help with this as the cutouts will guide me better. It's a small gripe, I know, but it's enough to annoy me.
3. Speed - I know that this phone will smoke most of the competition, including the E4GT, but I'm not really blown-away by it. Once the apps are opened (which I admit to being quite fast), it seems to take longer for the information to download and appear (Play Store, Facebook, etc). I don't know if it's the connection or the phone itself. Never had this issue with the previous phone.
That's about it really. I know it's nothing major, but it's enough to taint my experiences. I'll give it another week before I decide what to do with it. But I'm really leaning towards the HTC EVO LTE (even though I find it hideous) or just going with a Galaxy Nexus (and not have to worry about future upgrades, etc).
Sorry about the rant... just had to let it out.
Speed -
You don't feel smoothness , and fast information because android
The problem is not the device , its the software
Android is still "buggy" , i have Asus Prime Tegra 3 -and i dont feel smoothness
Maybe next android version will be more smoother and faster
Just return it and stop complaining

The power button on mine is not quite right too, it is less flushed against the bezel compared to the volume rocker and creaks at the touch, it also feels spongy when pushed. That's not enough to slate the phone though because I know the capabilities of this beast hence I'm waiting for my exchange. If yours is the same ill advise you to do the same.

You're using the Sprint version right? If so, why are you posting in the international GT-I9300 forum?
Plus, it's already been quoted in several reviews that the US versions have a slight lag during usage that the international version does not. Just return the phone and move on.
@Stea1thmode: Thanks bud! Will do!
@everyone else: Take your meds and learn to deal with criticism.
This phone was really smooth for me. Bur my major problem is not being able to get into download mode.
The screen is also mediocre. =/ Wondering if I should have bought LG Optimus 4x instead, I only picked this phone for the custom firmwares..
There's nothing worse than having an S3 on Sprint. It's bad enough that you have to deal with the inferior CPU, but also the non-existent LTE network that is set to debut sometime between now and when hell freezes over.
why do US variant owners come to the international section to B!TCH and complain?????

everyone love that... but the current price will be crazy...
I don't necessarily love that.
....It's just that Samsung is clearly the front innovator here.
As soon as they step up product manufacturing quality and get their commercial vector to focus, they will be on their way to absolute "portable communications + media devices" market dominance (...they may need to get someone new to achieve that focus...).
Myself, I am thinking about this:

Flexible is one thing but can a crease be made in the display by accidentally folding it?
My wifi 7.7 finally came in yesterday. Thing is leaps and bounds over the Nexus 7 I had. Screen is absolutely superb and the speakers are great. Best part is I dont have to worry about it falling apart in my hand like that dam Nexus. When I got it out of the box it was on HC but immediately flashed up a message for the jump to ICS. Im really surprised how smooth it runs on ICS. Ive tweaked it to my liking and disabled some of the crap. But all in all im extremely pleased with it.

Considering my N7 was 250 and my 7.7 was only 270 through Verizon with mobile data for $10 a month with no contract plus a way better screen, better build quality, and looks way better totally worth it. Tegra 3 isn't all that. I don't mind the lack of development so much but I really wish samsung would support this like it really should. There are tabs still being released as new with similar hardware specs and have jelly bean and will still get updated. This tab really shouldn't of had HC out of the box when it was released IMO.

In 11 days I will have owned this for 1 year and I am blown away that there is not yet a tablet I would prefer over this one. The Note 8 would be nice, but without the AMOLED screen, I still prefer the 7.7.

It's pretty incredible, isn't it?
I laughed at the advert part of that samsung thing when the guy puts the tab on the table with the flashing lights on it.
I'm with Wind Mobile (who's vague as an abstract painting about their release), but they're only giving out phones to new accounts.
The trick is to go to one of their corporate offices (which would be a "warranty repair centre") where they can't deny you a sale of said new device.
So, tomorrow, bright and early, this guy's going into town with the hopes that they have one in stock.
Wind doesn't lock their phones like other carriers do (not at all), so it's going to be interesting to see whether we can get full root on this thing or not (fingers crossed).
Who's going in on said device here in Canada?
Post phone lock states and whatnot to this thread! For science, and curiosity. :fingers-crossed:

Apparently the Wind shop closest to me is backordered on said G5 for at least one week, rep would not confirm anything else (still vague).
Roommate snagged one up at a Bell kiosk just as they got a shipment of camera modules in stock. He spent an hour there between the kiosk rep and on the phone with "customer loyalty" trying to get a better deal since he's been with them 10 years, and nothing came out of it other than the standard free attachment.
His phone warmed up a fair bit during initial setup and charging but he seems happy with it overall. His only gripe is -- why can't the camera attachment hardware buttons snap a photo while screen off?
I got mine - here in Manitoba.
Picked mine up earlier today with the cam plus module for free! I thought they were only giving these to those who re-upped for two years.

- But I did re-up. Sweet, fast phone with some refined MM goodness. Watch out for the edges of the screen protector.
The screen "tapers" or is slightly thinner at the edges/corners - looks like a recipe for frustration as the screen protector will not remain perfect for long. I noticed the after enabling Dev Options I have the "Enable OEM Unlocking" function. I have no illusions that anything would be this simple.....
Yeah but still no Bootloader unlock.

my plan was to get the device as soon as it came out, but when I got our demo device in store, I put off my decision till hearing more about the HTC 10.
The things I have noticed with the demo at my store is
1: The module at the bottom does not line up with the device, it might not be lots but it is enough. Plus worry about the future if the gap will get bigger
2: Audio quality is really weak. After using the G4 for the last while, I find the G4 has better placement and a better speaker all together.
3: The phones "metal body" feels weird. It does feel solid but at the same time it does not. Hard to explain
Those are my main issues, now with the camera, I do like the idea with the wide angle lenses but i wish the dual lenses was to help with zoom. Also I wish they upgraded the 16MP shooter. Dont get me wrong, the sensor is great with the G4 and G5, but I would have liked to see it improved even more. One other thing I would loved to see is before the phone was even released, LG going to the different accessory makers to give them the module access so when the phone launched they had more modules.
I dont know, maybe I am just being nit picky but I think LG dropped the ball a bit on this one. My final decision will be when I get my hands on the HTC 10 and G5 at the same time.
Got mine on Friday morning. Comparing this with the G3, G4 and Note Edge I find this thing to be ultra fast. Camera is pretty good although bright, its very noisey. Audio quality is ok.
Waiting for a root method,. unlocked the oem part, hopefully we will see root soon, Cant wait to seeing v10 camera app ports and custom kernels with exposed stuff

Hi Moderator,
can you add another poll entry with "Soft Key Navigation"
The reasons I WON'T be getting the S8+:F
Facial Recognition (intrusive)
IRIS Scanner (intrusive)
Fingerprint Scanner (intrusive)
Bixby (Hal, Oblivion)
No IR Blaster (DSLR, not TV Remote)
No SPen (Note user NECESSITY)
Enclosed Battery
So then, what are the Pro's?
Screen
360
Processor
Camera
Water Resistance
Why do you think face recognition is obtrusive? Microsoft use the technology and have done for a whole. Also are you scared to go outside as there is cctv camera everywhere. Also fingerprint readers have been on the past 2 Galaxy phones.
wheres the 'just because' option?!
Expensive week this week as pre-ordered the s8+ and receive my Tab s3 today
Clearly only going for it for the screen size in a size that isn't much bigger then what I'm currently using. I really hope I can sell my soul to buy it
Bluetooth 5.0 for me. Bluetooth is good but you should be able to move to another room without loosing connection. Faster network speeds will be great when the carriers catch up.
Because I upgrade every year and love Samsung phones. I always try new OEMs but at the end of the day, I always end up on a Samsung phone which typically is the Note series.
I haven't had a Samsung since the s3. I figured with that beautiful display it's time to try another one out. Also hopping that it being a such a highly anticipated device that root will come quick. My last 3 devices have been overlooked and I miss it. The only drawback I see it the fingerprint scanner, such a weird placement but I guess we'll see. 4-21 can't get here fast enough :/
Pre-ordered it because of everything about it. I love how touch wiz has been redone. Honestly, if there hadn't been any changes at all to the previous versions of Touch wiz it would be a deal breaker. It's been years since I've had a micro SD card reader (Nexus) I haven't dealt with a Samsung phone since the s4. I may not even care about root on this one. Do or die apps for me are Nova Launcher and my VPN app. Looking forward to Samsung pay also. I am looking forward to getting my hands on it. I won't ramble any longer.
I've got a Note 7 that I've been hanging onto ever since the recall. Already got a refund but didn't want to downgrade to a S7E. The Note 7 was a fantastic phone, and the S8+ keeps all it's best features, plus a better processor and larger screen, in a package that's only marginally bigger than the Note. I'll miss the S-Pen, but it's time to move on. Also for me, Samsung Pay is a big reason to stick with the company, as it beats the other mobile payment systems hands down...
I pre-ordered the S8+ because I went thru (2) Note 7's, (1) S7 - which was temp phone during the explosive era, and ended up revisiting my original LG v10 (all under JUMP! v1)
So with that said JUMP! v1 became eligible on 03-01-17. . . I did just that. . . .JUMP!
My next eligible date for JUMP! V1 is on 08-02-17 . . . . so if there is a new phone worth moving on to . . . . I'll move on (especially if promo includes really good stuff. . .
Its all about the screen.
I had all the phones. The note 7 was great but they poo that.
So back to the s7 edge. Which is a nice phone, but the s8 has a wonder looking screen. The home button and fingerprint scranner will take some getting use to but over all it looks damn nice. Wonder what the s10 or s12 will look like lol...
This is the best reason to buy the s8+ its that screen.

The water resistance and the non removable battery kind of go together dont they?
As for all the "intrusive" functions you can always just disable them
The S8 ts not a Note and does not pretend to be one, perhaps you are in the wrong forum area?

Anyone pre ordered using the Samsung Annual Upgrades program? £33.50 per month for 2 years plus £79 up front.
What's multi image processing?
Two reasons because it still seems smaller than the iPhone 6S+ I am coming from & because I watch a lot of You Tube on my phone these days so the bigger the screen the better.
In a nutshell, it keeps everything the S7 has, and adds a lot to it. No features are removed from the S7, an already great phone, and lot of stuff was just pumped up and increased, making the good packet even better, no gimmicks (well, maybe Bixby?)
I'm coming from the S6, I probably wouldn't upgrade if I had an S7, but the improvements in pretty much every area are so big when coming from the S6 that, in my opinion, it's worth an upgrade. :good:

Aha! Someone with both S10+ and Pixel 3a! Do you intend to keep both?
I am still on original Moto X (How do you know your phone is old? When Chrome browser says it will no longer be updated for this OS version. Happened a couple months ago.) I was really looking forward to get S10e but decided to wait to see if there are any problems. I am really glad I did! Problems with LTE connectivity (as in lack of) mostly on Sprint (70 pages long thread on Samsung forum and similar on Sprint), overheating, Bluetooth issues, proximity sensor not working right and keeps phone up in the pocket. Have you experienced any of those on your S10+?
I looked at Pixel 3 and it was not much better (call quality issues, BT issues, flickering display). Decided to wait for Pixel 3a.
I am just really frustrated that I have pay a lot of money and deal with issues. My 5 year old phone doesn't have any except, well, being old.
EE Uk locked down my pixel 3a lol, tossers.

Sure
Bunch of discord, checking xda, emails, some music using a bt headset. Brightness kind of all over the place depending on the areas lighting, played a few games, some YouTube, some Reddit, some imgur, browsing the play store, browsing fdroid, telegram. I've attached what I consider to be the final s.o.t for the phone as I'm going to plug it in now. I did notice the battery stats are missing a bunch of apps that ran, so not sure what's up with that.
It's Nice
I have a Samsung S9 as my daily phone. Google delivered the Pixel 3a is two business days, which was quick.
I bought the Google fabric case for the phone. But even without the case the 3a is the first phone I've held in a couple of years which felt "secure". Put another way, every time I handle my Samsung S9 without it's case I am scared I'll drop it, because of the extraordinarily slippery glass. The Pixel 3a feels like I won't drop it. I'm not even sure careful people need a case.
One last thing: Some of the reviews say the phone feels cheap because it's plastic and not aluminum and glass, With a case on the 3a phone no one can tell what the case is made of, or if the rear of the phone is fancy glass. I much prefer a robust phone. Because, you know, when it's all said and done, if you shatter your S9 screen, what you have is $1000 of junk.
So I'm liking this Pixel so far... . And bonus points: It has a headphone jack again! YES!!
