How to root the SM-S820L if KingRoot fails? - Samsung Galaxy Core Prime Questions & Answers

I have a Core Prime S820L. What are my alternatives if Kingroot's "one-click" rooting isn't working? Developer options and USB debugging are enabled.
I downloaded the latest Kingroot APK from kingroot.net, installed and ran it per their destructions and it failed with the message, "Failed to Root." So I did the same with the PC-based Kingroot and it failed with 'failed to root device not adaptive.'
So what are my alternatives for rooting this phone? Are there alternative methods with either of the Kingroot applications? Or should I try a different version of Kingroot and if so, which one(s) The only other one I even have passing familiarity with is towelroot.
EDIT: I should mention I'm using the stock ROM.

Use the links in this thread, it should point you in the right direction... https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...sung-galaxy-core-prime-sm-g360p-twrp-t3435965

Thank you, eeriikk, and I apologize for my weak Google-fu.

SuperSu Binaries are not installed and SuperSu cannot install these binaries.

Hello there, I've been looking around online looking for a way to solve my SuperSu problem, but I haven't found a solution yet I was wondering if you guys could help me.
I installed my root using Odin and CF-ROOT I then realized I had both, Kingroot and SuperSU. Kingroot was the one with the root authorization and SuperSU did not have root authorization. Before I did anything SuperSU used to say "Binaries need to be updated use Normal Or TWRP/CWM," but after I used "Replace kingroot with supersu" It now says "No binaries are installed and SuperSU cannot install them." I'VE tried many methods to solve this. By the way I'm new to this stuff.
Methods used: About Device:
1. Flash updates binaries. 1. Model number: SM-G900T
2. Flashed SuperSU update. 2. Android version: 4.4.2
3. Tried to eradicate SuperSU.

Are you on TW stock rom or Custom Rom? do you have recovery flashed?

AdAway not working with P8Lite ?

hi all
So, i rooted my device using KingRoot, i did not unlock the bootloader since i won't be flashing any custom roms or recoveries.
I installed AdAway, the latest stable release, when i try to enable ad blocking with it, i always get this error msg:
Copy failed
Copying of hosts file failed!
Please read Help for more information.
Is there any way to fix this ? and if not, is there any other way to block Ads without the use of AdAway ?
Thanks!
I rooted using SuperSU and AdAway works great . Don't know why isn't it working with you.. Make sure you granted root permission from KingRoot apk
I did, it has root permission
If i have to use SuperSU, that means i need to unlock my BL and flash TWRP correct ?
Some root "programs" are not strong enough.. Like SuperSU x Superuser.. It is possible that your choice is weak i have SuperSU (instaled via TWRP) and adaway works great.

Help me get rid of Kingroot

I have rooted my L8lite using Kingroot and it was successful (I think), but now I can't get rid of Kingroot if my life depended on it.
Things I have tried so far:
- Replacing Kingroot with SuperSU using the method described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/tutorial-how-to-root-bootloader-unlock-t3314786
- Replacing Kingroot with SuperSU using SuperSU-Me application from here: https://androidmtk.com/replace-kinguser-with-supersu
- Removing Kingroot using the option of SuperSU to remove other SU apps
- Uninstalling from Kingroot options menu
- Restoring a backup previously made using adb
- Factory reset
None of this worked. Please for the love of god someone tell me how to remove that piece of malware from my phone. I am frustrated beyond measure and extreme close to completely giving up.
Is my only option flashing? Would that help with removing Kingroot?
Thank you.
Update: I upgraded to Android 6.0 from local storage using an update I downloaded from Huawei's official website (http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/rom-emui-4-0-android-6-0-single-sim-ale-t3360097). Kingroot is no longer there and Root checker app says the phone is no longer rooted. Curiously, SuperSU and SuperSU-Me are still there, but I removed them using app manager without hassle. Am I in the clear now?
Update 2: After rebooting using "adb reboot bootloader" command it seems that bootloader is still unlocked, which is good. Now I have to find a better way to unroot.
Getting rid of kingroot
Hey bujamin,
Kingroot is a powerful app and removing it without losing root is a near impossible task.
However, I have a solution, not a programmed flashable zip or something but just a way to get rid of Kingroot using existing tools.
My solution :
1. Use kingroot to root your device.
2. Get a custom recovery after you acquired root with KingRoot, preferably TWRP (bear with KingUser).
3. Open Kingroot and in Settings you will find an option to Remove Root authorisation or Uninstall kingroot (depending on the version). This will remove Kingroot completely and unroot your phone too.
4. Since, you have a custom recovery installed now, you no longer need Kingroot to acquire root access.
5. Get the latest SuperSu flashable zip from here.
6. Access the recovery and install the SuperSu zip that you downloaded.
7. A Success message and an option to reboot system will be shown.
8. Reboot.
SuperSu has now been installed and can be found in your app drawer. Your phone is now rooted.

Running out of options trying to root SM-G530T

I've been trying to root my GP using the KingRoot and Odin methods, but came out empty with both methods
Summarized attempt
- Installed the newest KingRoot apk into my phone and installed
- Gave me an "Could not find root but try anyways" error and processed
- Finished successfully and confirmed root with Root Checker
- Ran SuperSume Pro and it stalls
- Reset phone and it bricks (infinite T-Mobile opening loop)
- Factory rest using Odin and stock firmware (from samsung-firmware)
- Try using pre rooted firmware (CF Auto Root Fortuna3a and another firmware I found) after, but both failed during the Odin process
If anyone would like me to go into more detail about my attempt, help me through a process, or link me to another root solution I would greatly appreciate it
I don't have the same model of grand prime, but I'm pretty sure you could just flash supersu.zip then install supersu.
Maybe wait until somebody else can verify I'm right, but I'm pretty sure it works on other models. You can find it along with other info here in the forums.
Hope it helps!
Edit; reread your post and had an idea, how about using the kingroot apk to root, verify with root checker, then try supersu or Super User from the app store?
Doubt it could hurt, if root checker is saying you have root, then it'd be safe to deduce that it's the rights management app and not the root process itself that's the issue

Here this is how I rooted my g530t http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/development/kernel-root-root-sm-g530t-5-1-1-t3203476
I figured out it was the Google FRP Lock that was the cause of the problems lol, after turning on the OEM unlocking (found in the Developer options in settings) the root worked fine using the TrapKernel MD5 with Odin

Installation of LineageOS without root

Dear all,
I just got an old V500 and I plan to install LineageOS which I already did for a couple of other devices. The main reason is the increased safety by having recent Android security patches.
Therefore, I want no rooted device. However, according to the install instructions (https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/v500/install), the installation process of LineageOS for the V500 seems to require rooting.
This again works with the procedure given here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/general/guide-root-twrp-customrom-kot49i-v50020d-t2894277) and requires several downloads where even my Windows Defender warned me about downloading. So I am very skeptical and I have five questions:
Is rooting really needed to install LineageOS on the V500?
Will those files I have to download for rooting and opening the bootloader "survive" on the tablet, or are they only needed to "inject" TWRP and LineageOS? Can you guys confirm these files are not obviously malware?
Will the resulting LineageOS installation be rooted (if I do not install the optional ZIP for root)?
Will OTA updates for LineageOS work?
Is there a way using less downloaded stuff from pages offering me malware? So could I use a "more established" rooting tool (say, Kingo Root or something) and then download Flashify from the Play Store to install TWRP and LineageOS? Will that work as well?
Thanks for help!
root is dangerous!
Root is necessary to flash custom recovery.
There are different methods for root.
I chose the Stump method because it does not require an internet connection during root.
If you will be using an application that supports root, do not forget to set the PIN to access su.
