I've been trying to root my GP using the KingRoot and Odin methods, but came out empty with both methods
Summarized attempt
- Installed the newest KingRoot apk into my phone and installed
- Gave me an "Could not find root but try anyways" error and processed
- Finished successfully and confirmed root with Root Checker
- Ran SuperSume Pro and it stalls
- Reset phone and it bricks (infinite T-Mobile opening loop)
- Factory rest using Odin and stock firmware (from samsung-firmware)
- Try using pre rooted firmware (CF Auto Root Fortuna3a and another firmware I found) after, but both failed during the Odin process
If anyone would like me to go into more detail about my attempt, help me through a process, or link me to another root solution I would greatly appreciate it
I don't have the same model of grand prime, but I'm pretty sure you could just flash supersu.zip then install supersu.
Maybe wait until somebody else can verify I'm right, but I'm pretty sure it works on other models. You can find it along with other info here in the forums.
Hope it helps!
Edit; reread your post and had an idea, how about using the kingroot apk to root, verify with root checker, then try supersu or Super User from the app store?
Doubt it could hurt, if root checker is saying you have root, then it'd be safe to deduce that it's the rights management app and not the root process itself that's the issue

Here this is how I rooted my g530t http://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/development/kernel-root-root-sm-g530t-5-1-1-t3203476
I figured out it was the Google FRP Lock that was the cause of the problems lol, after turning on the OEM unlocking (found in the Developer options in settings) the root worked fine using the TrapKernel MD5 with Odin

After much reading and experimenting, I am stumped. I have tried rooting using Odin 3.09 and twrp 2.8.0.1. using various techniques. I can get to where it boots into twrp, but when I try reboot it doesn't give me the root option. I also tried this kazil-tech.weebly.com/ technique of loading a zip version of SuperSU v2.46. The links to the files are all broken and the versions are not given, s I really don't know what is required, but that technique went exactly as described. The only problem is it didn't root the tab. It did take root checker two tries to discover it wasn't rooted. Is my problem that the kernel is too new and all the Odin techniques are not compatible? Is there any other way to get this to work?

Proper links to SuperSU zips:
SuperSU 2.46 zip
SuperSU 2.49 zip
This is my first time rooting. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, model SM-N900P. It's running Lollipop 5.0.
I downloaded Odin 3.09, Samsung KIES Captivate, and CWM Recovery. I followed instructions from an article on android.gs, called "How to Root Galaxy Note 3 N900 on Android 5.0 Lollipop using Odin".
I'm pretty sure it went wrong when I had to put the CWM recovery file into Odin. Beforehand, when I tried unzipping the CWM recovery file, I found the contents to be corrupted, so I assumed I wasn't supposed to unzip it. So i left the CWM file unzipped. It was called "n9005-cwm-recovery-6.0.4.7-kk(0125).tar".
So when I ran Odin i just selected that file, and Odin said it worked. My phone asked me if I wanted to root and I said yes. Everything seemed to have been working like the instructions said. And when my phone booted up, and I opened clean master, I found that I could now disable apps from auto-starting, a feature that requires root access. (I didn't actually use this newfound feature, so I'm not sure it actually works.)
But SuperSU wasn't installed, so I found it in the Google Play Store, and upon opening it, I was left with the message: "There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem!" and the app closes if I dismisses the message. Also, I downloaded Root Checker, which told me I had not properly rooted. I uninstalled both these apps.
Am I just one missed step away from a complete root? Maybe I unplugged my phone from my computer too quickly? Or have I messed something up? How do I fix it? Do I just proceed to root again normally, or do I have to un-root somehow, or do I do a factory reset, etc? I don't know what I'm doing. If I've given too much information or too little, sorry haha.

1. The custom recovery you installed isn't for your device. Use this ONE.
2. You should downgrade your device coz Cf-Auto-root only is working till android 4.4.4 (KTU84P.N900PVPUDNH7). And root it with this FILE via ODIN.

So I can't do this on lollipop?
I used towel root to root my S4, and I somehow allowed an auto update, which downloaded the updated, tried to install but failed. But I lost my root.
I am running 4.4.2 - Kitkat right?
So I don't have root, and I cannot update my phone - Is it possible for me to root it again? If so is there a link to instructions?
Thanks in advance, the DoridForums people sent me here -

I dunno what you are running.
1. You can take a look in your Settings - About device (Pic attached).
2. Try again Towel Root if you still running android 4.4.2 for root again your device.
3. Tell us how it works.
* You can download OTA udpates but you can't install them when you are rooted. Root your device modify system. It changes of OFFICIAL to CUSTOM. OTA detects it and give you a error when you try to install the update.
Ok attached is my about phone info -
I just tried towel root again, and it says this phone is not currently supported. So again, thought I would see what my easy options might be.
I can't post an image or links, Android version says 4.4.2 - If that's what you need? If not let me know which number you need
Use CF-Autoroot to root instead of Towelroot. While CF-Autoroot requires the Odin software to use, it's far more consistent in its results since it temporarily replaces the existing recovery with a recovery that will install SuperSU into the /system partition. Unlike Towelroot, CF-Autoroot is version agnostic, meaning it will work regardless of the version of Android installed.
There is an entire thread on CF-Autoroot. Hit the search bar at the top of the page and I'm sure you'll find it.
I recently got a Galaxy S5 (SM-G900T with LMY47X.G900TUVS1FOJ4).
I grabbed chainfire autoroot and flashed it with the Odin 3.10.6 that came with the CF file. It successfully rooted the phone. I installed Titanium Backup and restored all the stuff I wanted from my old device.
I've been using the device for 1-2 days now and lost root. I opened TB and it says I'm no longer rooted. I confirmed this by downloading a root checker and it also says I'm not rooted.
According to TB, I had BusyBox for root. There was no application icon nor was it in my list of installed applications. When I used chainfire's autoroot on my S4, it installed a super user program that I could open from my app list.
I would really like to continue using Titanium Backup. Does anyone know how I can gain root access again? I already messed it up once by reflashing the autoroot. This caused an infinite bootloop and I eventually got out of it by doing a factory reset. I've returned my S4 to T-Mobile and don't want to soft brick my phone again.
Thanks.
Anyone have any suggestions of how I can reroot my phone?
If you successfully used cf autoroot then that's not the issue.....My money is on a deleted or disabled or un-updated super user app.... this is what will give you (or prevent you from having) root access to your device.

Some days ago I get same problem ( lost root ) because i use supersu v2.67 on cm13 for sg s5 : g900f
therefore, after installed cfroot you can use twrp 3.0.0.0 as custom recovery
Then , Download. & update supersu to v2.65 by using twrp recovery ZIP version
Thanks i'm waiting for a reply
I have rooted my L8lite using Kingroot and it was successful (I think), but now I can't get rid of Kingroot if my life depended on it.
Things I have tried so far:
- Replacing Kingroot with SuperSU using the method described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/tutorial-how-to-root-bootloader-unlock-t3314786
- Replacing Kingroot with SuperSU using SuperSU-Me application from here: https://androidmtk.com/replace-kinguser-with-supersu
- Removing Kingroot using the option of SuperSU to remove other SU apps
- Uninstalling from Kingroot options menu
- Restoring a backup previously made using adb
- Factory reset
None of this worked. Please for the love of god someone tell me how to remove that piece of malware from my phone. I am frustrated beyond measure and extreme close to completely giving up.
Is my only option flashing? Would that help with removing Kingroot?
Thank you.
Update: I upgraded to Android 6.0 from local storage using an update I downloaded from Huawei's official website (http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/rom-emui-4-0-android-6-0-single-sim-ale-t3360097). Kingroot is no longer there and Root checker app says the phone is no longer rooted. Curiously, SuperSU and SuperSU-Me are still there, but I removed them using app manager without hassle. Am I in the clear now?
Update 2: After rebooting using "adb reboot bootloader" command it seems that bootloader is still unlocked, which is good. Now I have to find a better way to unroot.
Getting rid of kingroot
Hey bujamin,
Kingroot is a powerful app and removing it without losing root is a near impossible task.
However, I have a solution, not a programmed flashable zip or something but just a way to get rid of Kingroot using existing tools.
My solution :
1. Use kingroot to root your device.
2. Get a custom recovery after you acquired root with KingRoot, preferably TWRP (bear with KingUser).
3. Open Kingroot and in Settings you will find an option to Remove Root authorisation or Uninstall kingroot (depending on the version). This will remove Kingroot completely and unroot your phone too.
4. Since, you have a custom recovery installed now, you no longer need Kingroot to acquire root access.
5. Get the latest SuperSu flashable zip from here.
6. Access the recovery and install the SuperSu zip that you downloaded.
7. A Success message and an option to reboot system will be shown.
8. Reboot.
SuperSu has now been installed and can be found in your app drawer. Your phone is now rooted.
