it should be working only on custom roms like cyanogenmod.
(snap camera from CM uses api2)

Don't know if it works or not... But you can try for yourself... Just do a nandroid backup first... then edit build.prop ( you will need root access) using build.prop editor and add the following line:

Camera2 api works, but I'm yet to find an port of GCam where portrait mode works. HDR+ was working in quite a few apps, but I didn't go out and click photos, so don't take my word for it.

Thanks, will try soon. Anyway GCam won't really work (at least on my phone) cos of 32bit arch
Added the line to build.prop, camera2 isn't working yet.
Hope someone can find a way to get it to work.
Redmi 2 2GB/8GB variant not supporting Camera2 API with with build.prop edit. Please help if there is any other way to enable Camera2 API. Running MIUI 9 Global 9.2 Stable. Android 5.1.1

I have been unable to enable it on my Redmi 2 'Prime' (2GB/8GB). Can you please name the few apps were HDR+ was working?
Hi everyone , today while using camera i noticed hdr option is missing along with slow motion and iso & shutter speed option from the pro mode in Moto camera . Even front camera is not opening. However in 3rd party camera apps front camera open but hdr is still missing. I am using modified stock 7.0 with camera2api enabled , defcomg chromatix mod and 32 bit gcam by savitar. How to fix moto cam as i use it regularly ? Thanks all in advance
This is happen bcuz of enable cam2api idk why maybe the Moto cam app dosen't compatible with camera 2 so if you want these options back you have to disable cam2api. Same of you I tried so many times to find out what happened with camera and discover that enable cam2api make this bug happened.
The stock camera app relies on the phone's default camera api. Enabling camera2 api breaks it.

Thanks for answer sir , but i will not disable cam2api bcoz i am using gcam and happy with hdr+ , i will search for better 3rd party app than stockcam which use cam2api ?

I tried disabling cam2api by changing value to 0 in build.prop app but it didnot work . I removed persist code but cam2api is still enabled . Donot know why moto software sucks brain that much.

There is a quirk on stock nougat where permissions get messed up after editing a system file. Install root browser, navigate to system, find the build.prop file and in properties set the permission to -rw-r--r-- (644) like in the attached screenshot. Then reboot.
Theres a modded Motocam in the g5+ camera dev group. Also, Motocam with [email protected] enabled works flawlessly on stock oreo.

Thanks for the help bro , one more help plzzz. I downloaded the motocam2 app , but i am not able to install it due to "Camera " named app i.e stock moto cam already installed. I installed xml magisk module but still not able to install motocam2

Oreo 8.1 update has been rolled for moto g5 plus ....so can we enable the camera 2 api support..?
Yes you do but I hear something about 60FPS video recording not functioning with camera2.api, not so sure about this though.
You can only enable Camera2 API in stock Oreo if you are rooted. I provide an option for that in the TWRP Flashable Oreo builds.

60fps works in stock motocam and some gcams. Also works in opencam

Check out bulkin043 gcam ports. They don't require package name to be changed.

as title says my A1 is rooted with magisk, running an android 10 custom rom. Everything works fine, but the camera is terrible. Which Gcam works stable, with Photo and video?
And do i have to do anything to enable EIS and camera2api or is it already enabled or is there a way to check it?

https://t.me/mia1_gcam is a telegram group about all the ports of gcam for the mi a1, there is also www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/ that is about Gcam ports in general, you should check those out. In the last link go to "developers and modders" and search for the Mi A1, there are a lot of different ports so you have to test them and see which one works the best!

I'm using GCam_6.2.024_N7P_test1.apk, from here, tested running well in android 10 and 11
