Hello guys, I had my phone rooted a while ago (HTC ONE M8, international version or say INDIAN version) and was running on custom roms. Then came the Marshmallow update so I unrooted and all no RUU was available for Android M so I flashed Android L and updated OTA. And then again i had so many apps and god knows what and I wanted a fresh slate as everything was slowing it down very much and somehow I flashed the zip file using the sdcard method. And now the system is taking a good 7-8 GB of the internal 16GB. Right now the phone is RELOCKED, STOCK RECOVERY, UNROOTED. Just think of it as in a default condition. Now I have "0P6BIMG_M8_UHL_M60_SENSE70_MR_hTC_Asia_India_6.15. 720.2_Radio_1.29.214500021.12G_20.72.4196t.01_F_re lease_469495_signed" This RUU.zip. I WANT TO WIPE EVERYTHING PREVIOUSLY ON THE PHONE, LITERALLY EVERYTHING, AND THEN INSTALL THIS RUU SO THAT IT USES THE MINIMUM POSSIBLE SYSTEM SPACE. How to do that? I do not need a detailed guide just give me the step-wise information as in flash TWRP first then do this, then do that, you know what I am saying. Please help me out here it would be a lot of help, I can not see this great a device lagging doing the normal stuff. THANK YOU :fingers-crossed:
Stick to one thread, and please stop posting the same thing over and over (you've now copy/pasted the exact same post 3 times). I've provided some guidance in to the other thread you posted in.
"General" is also not the right place to ask for this kind of help.

Hey
I have a Galaxy S4-19500. It has the official 4.3 android stock ROM installed. I have tried to flash a stock kernel onto the phone but nothing changes.
How can I get this to stock before I sell it tomorrow?
Also is there anyway to get rid of binary count im on stock unrooted but still getting 1 warranty bit
http://puu.sh/5wHeg.png
This is an image of my software settings atm.
Your help is deeply appreciated.
Bumb bumb bumb bumb
Nothing wrong here.
I don't see anything wrong with this. If you haven't tried rooting this before with 4.2.3 then flashed the new 4.3 Firmware manually, you'll be just fine.

Why don't you just flash a new stock rom and start afresh. As for the warrant bit, i don't think you can reset it sorry.
RULE 5. Create a thread or post a message only once.
As a large forum, we don't need unnecessary clutter. You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer, revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time so it might take a while before you receive an answer. (Also refer to Rule 16)
RULE 16. Bumping Threads (posting simply to force a thread to the top of the thread queue)
Do not "bump" a thread more than once per 24 hours.
I only made two threads as one wasn't posted as a question, I tried to delete the other then realized I couldn't.
I needed help urgently i'm sorry if this caused any trouble. I just want the phone to be stock so I can sell it today with no problems.
I already flashed a stock ROM and it won't get rid of that kernel.
As for the bumping , I didn't read the rule and now I have I won't do it again.
So is the kernal i have at the moment stock? Because I remember getting it from Rom Switcher. Im not going to root the phone again.
Then why does it say installed OCT 14? Is that not a custom kernel?

Hey guys, first post. A friend of mine referred me to XDA Dev.
I unlocked my phone via one of those "unlock websites" a while back, and just followed whatever directions they gave me. Now my phone works overseas
However I would like to update my phone from 4.2.2 to the current version 4.4.2 (if I'm not mistaken). When i try to do the OTA update, it downloads, and tries to install, but never completes the update and reverts back to 4.2.2. I assume its due to the fact that the phone is unlocked.
Did a few searches, and found a few threads that I feel may be useful, but I don't know where to start.
First question, if I return my S4 to an original firmware, will the phone lose the "unlocked" ability?
Second Question. Where do i even start? It's been a while since i've tried to 'mod' any device, so my problem is the lingo. Just even a laundry list of things I should do would be helpful, and the rest I can google/search my way through. Just need help with the terminology.
Third question, Are there mac friendly programs? or is it all strictly windows/linux
These are the three threads I found.

Unless you want to be stuck with only the ability to use safestrap recovery and roms. Once you update your firmware your bootloader will be locked, permanently! Do yourself a favor and read up as much as you can on this phone and block the OTA update. Be happy it hasn't let you do it successfully. Start in the general section of this forum and read, re-read and read some more.
ok. i'll take your advice on that one.
The real reason i really wanted to update, is so i could make advantage of the SD card slot. because my memory is filling up quickly. What are suggestions that you have?
or should i just seek for another Android phone?

Why do you need to update for that? As far as I know no update has really changed much about SD speed or capacity limit.
If you want to update and keep your bootloader, you can just flash any newer ROM. There's plenty based on stock or near to stock. If you go 4.4, you'll need to flash a modem from 4.4 from the thread in the general section.

i have been looking around and can not find any info on what i want to do. so i am just going to ask and see if anyone can help. hope ive come to the right place.
about a year ago i purchased a blu studio 6.0 hd(d651u). it came stock with kk(4.2.2 i believe. can confirm if needed.) i pulled the stock firmware using droid tool. so i do have the original rom and scatter file. the lollipop update was available so i updated. afterwards i ran the updated rom through SuperRs rom kitchen, rooted, de-odexed, debloated... afterwards when i was theming the apks and was almost satisfied, i dropped the phone and it broke.. so i purchased another one. same make same model(d651u). only thing i see any different is that this new one came stock with the same lollipop rom that my old phone had updated to. so my question is this. can i use the stock rom and scatter file that i got from my original device to restore the device i have now in case anything goes wrong. im trying to find out if i can safely skip the whole rom pull step and jump right into getting my custom rom onto my NEW phone. i know i can use my old rom, i just wonder if i would be able to restore a brick with my original rom pull because they are the same device, just manufactured at different times. any feed back would be GREATLY appreciated. thank you

no, you should not use the backup from another phone to restore your new one. and you should post in the section for blu studioinstead of here, the info you get here might be inaccurate
I did a mistake, it is possible to move this thread on help section?
Hi all, today ASUS released the OTA but in some days the full rom will be also avaible.
I want to do a fresh install but i don't know how do this :crying:
I was a Samsung S2 Plus user and there was really easy flash something but on ZF2 with fastboot and recovery i don't know where go.
I am using full stock ROM unroot never touched. There is a SAFE way to flash a full firmware? I read that someone deleted some partition and IMEI was lost
Thanks for the help.
Regards,
LightDestory.
Hello friends,
I would like to install custom rom on my phone Note 4 sm-n910C . I'm not an experienced person for it. But basicly I know that I need to root my phone 1st then install suitable version of TWRP on my phone. And then I can backup my stock rom and all things. Then install custom rom file.
But I scare to brick my phone doing this procedure. So I wonder, can i backup my phone's stock rom and other all things (kernel, firmware, modem etc...) without TWRP ? I mean , can do it with pc software ?
And if my phone become brick, thus, can i restore it completely via pc then ?
If i can do that, how ?
I'll be appreciate if you help me ?
Choose your Country and phone provider and download the stock ROM from Sammobile
If it's needed then use Odin to reload it. There's plenty of guides how to use it including those that explain how to root. I recently rooted one of my Note 4s, a N910C and apart from using a slightly older version of TWRP was pretty straightforward.
I used this guide and the downloaded the files from the links in it but there's other's available but be 100% sure you're following the guide for a N910C.
I'm not that knowledgeable about Rooting compared to many people on here although I've rooted all my Tablets and Phones but seem to recall you may need to use an older version of Odin to do so. The most difficult problem I had was getting the correct driver installed that would recognise all my devices and even that was just persistence. Just read everything a few times and double check you have the correct files before you start, it's pretty straightforward.
In all the above comments I'm assuming you're using the last version of the stock ROM that was released.
@Big Elf
Thank you very much for your reply and explanation. I looked at your shared pages. And I'd like to start it.
But I have some quesitons to not make a mistake. If you guide me, I will be appreciate.
But before that let me share my phone feautres screen shots. You may see all detailed information.
SCREENSHOTS
I can't share links due to xda rules bcos I need to reach 10 post. So pls complete http section if it need for below scrshoot links.

And My Questions
1- First of all ty for rooting page. According to explanation i'm going to root my phone. But I wonder that android version is matter or not. My phone version is 6.0.1 as you see. Is it okay, its suitable for my phone, right ?
2- As far as I read on internet, There are all TWRP versions are different for all diffrent smartphones. According to above scrshoot informations, which is the suitable, stable and latest version for my phone ? And Where can i find it from ? Or if its possible could you forward me exact page and/or link please ?
Because my scared major thing is that. Wrong type of TWRP. And so brick my phone. Btw, let me ask, wrong version lead to brick phone, right ?
If I install the true type (version anyway) of TWRP then I will be relax. Because after that, process will be very easy for me. I experienced from Huawei's first phone "IDEOS X5" . I have installed TWRP and custom roms on it , on years 2012-2013. I only scare to make mistake via perform it on note 4 & brick it.
Thank you so much again.
You've made your first mistake . I explained you need to read everything carefully and double check you have the correct files before starting so that you're reasonably confident that you know what you're doing.
The link I posted explaining how to root also has the link to the version of TWRP and Odin needed to install and Root it but you didn't read it properly.
You're running the same version of the ROM I have on my N910C albeit a different country (which won't make a difference).
If you install the Official TWRP App from Team Win you can update TWRP after rooting. I'd also suggest installing the SuperSu (Pro) App from Codingcode which will update itself after rooting. I also use Root Checker (Pro) from joeykrim to check that root has worked and SuperSu has installed correctly. All those apps are available in the Play Store. I pay for the Pro versions as I appreciate the work that's gone into them and as a thank you to the developers.
You don't have to root it so don't feel that you have to do so.
Although all my phones are rooted my Note 4s (N910Fs and a N910C) still run the stock ROM and the main reasons I did so was to run Adaway and also to debloat neither of which are essential. I also wanted to know how to do it.
Installing another non-Samsung ROM has 4 main disadvantages:
You lose the fine control over the OLED screen including the boost mode in bright sunlight
You lose some of the functionality of the s-pen
You lose a lot of quality from the camera that you won't get back with any ROM.
Most of the ROMs have some faults other than those just mentioned but are usually but not always minor.
