I recently have a battery drain on my Le Pro 3 X727 running TARS 21s rom with root. The google play service is causing a massive battery drain since last couple of day for me even right now. I don't know what is causing it. I have not change any setting or install or uninstall apps since the last three weeks on this rom. The wifi scanning and the location history are already off the whole time. Anybody know what is the cause of this issue?
Yes. I had the same trouble. The newest version sucks, stolen me over 25% of battery. Get older apk, I prefer this one; 10.2.99

Hello, I am not sure if you mistyped or not. The link you sent me is the newer version 10.2.99. I was on the older version 10.2.98. However, I checked my brother axon 7, his google play service version was 10.5.62 and it has no battery drain. I look on battery usage on his phone in the setting and I don't see google play service on there. So I updated to the latest 10.5.62 and voila, no more battery drain.

10.5.62 is a good version, play services doesn't even appear on my battery list. Sometimes it's there with 1-3%, but that's not bad.

Hi,
I own the S4 Google Edition (9505g) and in the last few days the battery started to drain way faster than it used to be.
I didn't installed any new apps nor changed any configurations whatsoever. Also, I did not see any system update which was installed.
The installed battery monitor app shows the regular usage, but the the battery just drains way fasted than it was before.
Any outputs or advice?
Thanks

I've noticed this too. I recently swapped from an i337 to the gt-i9505g. Battery has been amazing, but in the past couple days it's been draining like it's on fire. I dug deep and found that "Android OS" had a 4+ hour wakelock. Rebooted and so far no wakelocks, and battery seems to be back to normal.

Mine updated to KitKat (4.4) yesterday and I'm still good on battery life. Perhaps you should check out better battery stats?
Just received the KitKat update message, will update the damn thing later on today.
In the mean while, the drain carries on. Installed GSam monitor, seems like I'm having lots of wakelocks, and the built-in messaging app is sucking quite a lot of juice even though I'm not a heavy user.
Any further advice how to deal with it?
How long does it take for your battery to drain, on an average use?
I replaced stock messaging app with textra.. As for battery life I can usually get about 4 hours of screen time, b but on light use days I was getting about 20 hours or so. Haven't been on kitkat long enough to know, but battery life SEEMS better than it was. Fwiw in using art on 4.4 instead of dalvik.

Great.
I got 8SMS installed but disabled and I just got the call that KitKat was rolled out and ready to be installed. Will install it later and try to replace the stock messaging with 8SMS, perhaps that would help the phone to act better.
Do you happen to know if the ES File explorer still works with KitKat (allowing to create folders on the SD card)?
Thanks

Check your running services.
What carrier are you with?
Are you in a poor signal area?
Do you use WiFi at home?
Install the battery guru app from the play store. It learns your usage & can manage a lot of things to minimize drain.

Check the stock battery stats. Also, you may consider using a 3rd party battery stats application.
I was having some drain issues with Google Services. It turned out there was a Google Contacts sync issue caused by setting the ICE Contacts within the phone. I didn't quite have the drain you are having but there was VERY noticeable differences from before and after.

Battery is really different to gauge between users, carriers etc... I've had great battery life with the latest CM Rom 10.2 Nightly. Bloatware kills battery.

Is your GPS constantly activating ? It's probably either Google services tracking your location for Google now, or Carrier IQ. I had this issue a while back, and it doesn't show in a wake lock detector. Its a carrier installed program that tracks the GPS location of your phone without your consent. Search for it here, you'll find a few threads on how to remove it.

Battery
Chances are good that it could POSSIBLY be a bad unit. I've seen posts about battery issues when looking up a solution for mine. Sometimes the phone will just not charge, and it would get really hot. I recently had to call warranty and have them send me a new phone. I hope they don't find out I've rooted it LOL
I'm not really sure how to get rid of the traces aside from unrooting :/
Here's what worked for me

I removed the contacts from the ICE listing. If you still have trouble you can use an app called Contacts Sync Fix that fixes most problems.
I have i9500 cm11 ROM nightly. Version 20140105 and it drains battery. 43% is android os. 7 hours and 5 hours I didn't use the phone. What should I do?
When I had issues, I installed GSAM battery monitor and got more details. Shows when it was using more data, was awake, was using phone signal or wifi, battery temperatures..... For me it was some media files that were not processing well, so I had to drop in some .nomedia files.
Try to download Wakelock Detector from the Play Store and see the root that causes it. For example, the last time with stock rom, I have issues with Google Play Services with NIPcollector issues that keep on waking the phone without letting it to fall into deep sleep causing a huge battery drain. The solutions, Wakelock terminator, can be download in Play Store aswell. The free version of wakelock terminator only let you terminate 1 services which is just enough for my case. If you have more than one services causing lots of wakelock, consider getting the donate version.
Do use Greenify to hibernate unused apps aswell, it does really helps. :good:
if u are looking for low battery drain then stay away from custom roms especially cm based roms.
not only they drain the battery fast because they are badly ported or whatever but also they are missing samsungs energy saver mode which does save alot of battery. (only enable cpu and u will never notice its on)
so if u really want to use a custom rom then atleast get a tw rom.
my best experience for best battery on my s2, s4 and note 3 is original stock rom with bloatware removed, energy saver mode on (cpu only) and xposed+xblast module.
that way i got best battery on my s4 (almost 6 hours on screen time or 3 days standby time), all tw features and all features i want from a custom rom.
also on every android phone in my house i had a battery drain while having wlan on in standby mode.
i noticed this not when having the screen on... only like at night when the screen was off.
this took me about 1 day standby time... so ihad only 2 days standby and not like now 3 days.
lost like 10-15% every night while doing nothing. now its 1-2% every night.
this wasn't the fault of any apps installed or anything else. only thing which help me with this was buying a new router.
after researching which one would help me with this problem i decided to buy this one. cheap and also very good and alot of settings.
http://www.amazon.de/Edimax-BR-6228nS-Wireless-LAN-Access-Points/dp/B004XIE2T0
other then that NEVER use geenify or any other battery tools. they will not help at all...
only app that could help is betterbatterystats.

I'm glad you are speaking only from your own experience, because many people have had different experiences. I get as good as or better battery life with CM11 over TW on my i9500. Many others have said the same.
BTW, CM for the S4 is not a "port."

1) Download a newer nightly. Lots of progress has been made on CM11 in 4 months.
2) Backup your data, do full wipes and a clean install.

cmon man. it's ok if u like cm and all. thats ur thing.
but don't say u got same as good battery like on tw rom... then u ain't know what u talking about.
if u say something like that its clearly that u never had a good running system and probably cm on ur phone since u bought it.
but i agree he could solve that high android os drain due a fresh clean new install/full wipe (probably even with the same version he has on the phone right now)
battery would be still alot worse then on tw roms with stock kernel
Check this. If it is the same issue, it doesn't depend on the ROM, but on the carrier.

thanks for helping guys. I have found out that the music player doesn't give the phone to fall into deep. i want to move to be not system app and to put it on hibernate. how can i check if the app "/system /app mover" works on rom cm11 ? cant it break my phone?
thanks
Clicking the battery in settings will give some information.
I had the problem in past week (i9505 S4 running stock 4.3), where Google Play Store inexplicably was unable to connect to the server. As a result, it kept trying to connect and fail repeatedly, and draining battery severely. Tried all the fixes to reconnect Play Store with server to no avail. Ended up doing a hard reset, and this fixed it. Battery consumption now back to normal.
Hey friends!
Im not sure if im posting this into right thread, so if not, please move it to proper place.
Well, as topic name says, im looking for a way how to prolong my battery life. Im gone from home for most of a day, and im running out of battery at times i need my phone to be awake. Im currently using (my signature) and im looking for any advices for apps, tweaks, roms, mods and kernels made for battery life. Im not prone for some kind of smoothness (which ROM im using really is ), ill let that to more powerful smartphones; i need it for work. And i dont care which Android version or kernel version ill be using.
Thank you for any advices.
PS: Geolocation is constantly off, same as mobile data. Brightness is on "Auto".
"Disable services" "greenify" and manage apps with privacy guard / app ops or various apps that control startups.. Drop your CPU frequency to 800mhz and keep screen brightness down..

You said it mate. I just had to wipe my Nexus S that was running CM11 weekly because about 2 weeks ago I had massive battery drain. At first I thought my original battery from 2011 had packed in so I got a new one out of the draw but battery drain was massive again. I looked a Google Play Services and it was draining 75% of my battery while the phone was in standby. I tried narrowing it down to a certain app but gave up - I just couldn’t stop the battery drain. So I put the latest CM11 weekly on and so far its back to normal. But I have no idea why a stable phone since January suddenly had a problem with Google Play Services. It must have been an update or an app. Who knows.
I just hope it doesn't start again.
I was convinced on the forums that my system service drain was regular until I took a look at my buddy's phone , he has a le s3 with 2 sim cards and his system service doesn't normally go past 80 mAh on a full charge . Something has to be wrong
This is a screenshot of my sot when I first got the phone
8 hours of SOT is really good. You can try installing Wakelock Detector to get a different perspective. Also, anything that uses accessibility services may harm battery life. Another thing you can do is go to settings-permissions-autolaunch and disable autolaunching of apps that don't need to be running all the time. You can see what apps are currently running in settings - app management. One last thing is that your signal strength isn't that great, so it may just be how it's supposed to be.

I'm in the same boat as you, only I'm running OmniRom. But yeah, had 8h sot, can barely make 6 now, android system is my second biggest drain, with 2+ hours of cpu usage.
I have tried and I have found that 7.1 to 8.1 do not have the best battery life.
I personally have been aopk 6.01 and been getting great battery life.
I did do a stress test I did gaming and blasting next radio 21 minutes use only 6% of battery.
