Was curious which unlock feature every one uses. Explain why you use it.
none unless I am going out of the house. Most happy with finger print and iris scanner.
If finger print not working well, start over. That worked for me
I use like 3 of these things, so sucks I can't select all 3 of them on the poll. I use the fingerprint scanner, iris scanner, and pin. Pin is my backup password. I use the iris scanner every so often, as I wanted to try it out since I've never used one before.
The fingerprint scanner is my primary security unlock feature as I'm used to using it from my S6. The scanner, despite the not so optimal location but still usable, is pretty accurate and faster than it was on the S6. The only thing that sucks about the fingerprint scanner, because of the new location, registering fingerprints is rather annoying. This is because if you're the tiniest bit off, it'll give you an error. Once it's registered, it's nowhere as painful to use thankfully.

Interesting, i thought you can only have 1 feature active at a time. Unless you turn the other one off and switch between the 3.

If you use biometrics, you MUST have a backup password (pin, pattern, password). For my S6, I used the fingerprint scanner and pin (was also useful when the reader was stupid about reading my prints... XP). I actually wasn't sure if you could have more than 1 biometric feature active, with the backup, but apparently, you can.
The only thing you can't mix in is the facial recognition, because that can't be used in conjunction with the iris scanner. With the fingerprint scanner, it should be fine, though I've never tried the facial unlocking feature, mainly because it's not secure -- convenient, but that's about it, haha.

Cool, didn't know that myself. Unfortunately I can't go back and edit the poll so you can vote on multiple things lol
I loved the face scanner before the update. Now, it hardly works. I've been switching between it and Iris

I do the same thing. Fingerprint scanner is my primary, iris every now and then, then my pin. I've gotten used to the fingerprint scanner. It's not so bad.
I use the Iris scanner for Samsung pay and Secure folder because it's so fast. I use my finger print for BOA app because Iris isn't supported. I don't use a lock on my phone. I've always hated lock screens, sensitive data in Knox
i have a Gear s3 smart watch so i use ''trusted Bluetooth'' option. Never have to unlock my phone if its me using it lol Such great feature.
Really impressed with how well the iris scanner works. It's all I use as the fingerprint sensor is in a daft place.
I use the fingerprint, my case makes it easy and natural for my index finger to find the reader every time without hitting the lens.

that case looks quite thick at the back. I received one like this (obliq K3 wallet) but it didn't work as I couldn't reach the sensor easily. Clearly designed without the phone!

Yeah, I never had a problem with the location, because of the way I hold phones, but the only time I have issues using the scanner is when I use my Spigen Slim Armor CS case, as it's a thicker case, compared to my Neo Hybrid, so the cutouts for the back sensors are a bit deep (least for me). I'm getting used to it, lawl.
Finger print Scanner as I have Glasses so the Iris Scanner does not work very well for me
The fingerprint sensor because it wakes up the phone too.
no option for none of the above.
I personally do not use anything.
I have password protection to all My sensitive (banking apps atc) data to unlocking the Actual phone does not bother me.
I have it as fast as possible to unlock
I'm pretty surprised by the results so far, with how much flak the fingerprint scanner was getting before release, still seems most popular. Also thought face recognition would be used little more.

is there anyway to get rid of the lockscreen in 3.1 so when you wake the tablet you are on the last screen you saw. i can disable it on my phone with cm7 2.3.4 rom, and had apps that work with 2.2 or 2.3 but i can't find anything to work with 3.1. i know it doesn't take long to unlock it, it just bugs me that i have to everytime i wake it
No Lock worked perfectly when unrooted on 3.0.1 and continues to work with 3.1 rooted. I never lock the screen on my A500 since it does not fit in my pocket.
I tried to post a link but I am no allowed to yet. Just search the Market for "no lock" including the quotes.
You need to have a special feature called fingertouch
- Try to find the application FINGER on the hand.market.google.com
- Install It or Find a friend who have it already
Now you should see on your Real Life Desktop this

Looks strange no ?
Ok now get ready for the most hard part, require at least a doctor degree in information and technology
Your tablet should be locked as following.
Use your new feature TOUCH (it's installed with FINGER by default don't worry) on the screen of your tablet like that
then when your tablet is unlocked, you should be on this screen (may differ of yours but it's ok don't worry)
Now use TOUCH again on the top right of the screen (there is a kind of 6 square, 1 is one other are grey, and a text on the right side "Apps")
Now you are on this screen, you can slide from left to right or right to left, you need to find the SETTINGS icon, then use TOUCH again (I know you may hurt FINGER but after you will use to)
Then now use TOUCH on the text "Location & Security"
Use TOUCH again on Configure Lock Screen
And Finally use TOUCH on Off (never lock the screen)
and Here we are you just figured how to not install junk application and save time
have a nice day.
sanaell said:

then when you install FINGER TOUCH on your HAND you have the new feature... touchscreen
then...
with your FINGER touch the screen, where it's write APPS (top right)
then SLIDE from right to left, until see an ICON named SETTINGS
Use again your FINGER to touch the TEXT "LOCATION & SECURITY"
Now that going to be tricky but you can do it, use your FINGER on CONFIGURE LOCK SCREEN
and press very very very very carrefully on "OFF"
I know it's kind of hard and very advance, but with this method you are sure about two thing....
your screen will turn off but will not be locked when you turn it on
you will save space by not installing junk application

There was no need to sugar-coat your response. That is a good tip. Thank you for presenting it so eloquently.
Since that option is not available on my Froyo phone, I did not even go into the lock screen menu on Honeycomb because I did not want to set a password or pattern. I should have done more exploring.
No Lock uninstalled on my A500 but still necessary on my phone.
Could you please provide a Market link to the "FINGER TOUCH" app that you mentioned? I am unable to locate it. My insatiable girlfriend has expressed extreme (and urgent) interest in it.

According to what your specific needs are, this app or SwypePad or GMD Gesture Control are must have apps.
I use GMD and it's solved one of the 3 Android's only big shortcomings: lack of "ALT+TAB" and switch to previous/next app.

This app has a feature for that too. But I like the way you can customize it completely with any command or app and also that it wraps around your finger. My thumb is not long enough to use SwipePad on this phone.
But with the pie in LMT, I can handle 20 different commands and shortcuts by holding it in one hand, using my thumb.
This is what it's all about:

Out of those 3 LMT is the one I too like most but it has a couple of issues which make me use GMD instead (at least at this time):
- it lacks the built-in capability to launch app-created shortcuts (you have to install and thinker with 2 other apps: Tasker and Autoshortcut)
To me that means, above all, that I can't make it go to a specific Nova Launcher Prime page like GMD can and, most importantly, it can't launch an RTF file created by Solid Explorer.
- it makes that shortcut-launched RTF file crash (shortcut on the home created by Solid Explorer and opened in Thinkfree Word) whenever I try to switch back to it with the "prev app"/"next app" controls and that's one of the apps I need most often to switch back to.
As it is LMT is unusable for me but I keep on checking its updates to see if/when these issues are resolved as if/once it does LMT is practically perfect..
I don't think they are comparable. You are not going to get the kind of one-finger control GMD that the PIE offers in LMT.
What I really miss with the Note 2 is to be able to reach the hardware buttons with my thumb while holding the phone in one hand without dropping it.
The pie is that and 16 other commands that you can access with your thumb alone.

Absolutely true but I am not interested in one hand use.
I have always found very annoying trying to operate ANY touchscreen mobile device with one hand (doesn't matter the screen size).
What I am interested in are gesture/quick ways to ALT+TAB between apps, switch to previous/next app, go to the Home screen, open the Recent Apps list, turn off the screen/lock the device AND launch/switch back to my most used apps.
Both of them do that and LMT does it much better EXCEPT the very last thing I listed above and detailed in my previous post which LMT does not at all. As soon as LMT can do that too I will happily switch to LMT!
I tried it in the early stages on my hd2.. but then went onto use zmooth.... now I use button savior on the note 2....but seems this app has progressed alot now. ..Thanks for reminding. .. got to try it now

Is there an app for the Nexus 6 that works like Finger Scanner? To my knowledge, Finger Security one only works on Galaxy series phones that have fingerprint scanners: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rickclephas.fingersecurity&hl=en.
I also tried App Lock but it doesn't appear compatible with the Nexus 6P scanner. It doesn't seem to detect it. Or at least it says that the manufacturer doesn't allow other apps to access it.
It'd be great to have. Right now, the Marshmallow implementation is very limited. Only a few apps (like Last Pass, for example) make use of it so this can add a new layer of protection. For example, on my Note5, I used it to lock the settings app so that only I could modify them.
** EDIT: I just saw a couple of related threads a few pages back. Hope there are new developments **

Where do you enable the fingerscanner lock? I couldn't find it :/

Just pick a lock type like pattern and you'll notice on the bottom of the pattern screen a fingerprint icon. Just use your fingerprint. The same thing happens when you lock an app. Choose pattern and then choose Facebook as an app to lock. Run Facebook and you'll see the fingerprint icon on the bottom of the pattern screen.

Me neither. Usually when you put your finger when you set the imprint, it will show green line circling the finger icon, but with me nothing happened even though using different finger. And this is the first time setting up.
What i found in internet people that get march update getting this kind of problem.

Hi rick,
Thank you for your response. I cannot find the solution besides send it back to the shop. I bought it from other country. So i might just ask refund for the convenience. Thought could be family of 6P lol*
Hello Friends,
Starting with Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google introduced a new Smart Lock system that gives you various options to help speed up the process of unlocking your phone when the device detects that it's in a secure environment. One of these options, called "Trusted Face," is functionally identical to Apple's new Face ID system — just wake your phone, look at it, then swipe to unlock. All without having to scan your fingerprint or enter your PIN.
To be clear, Apple's new system uses a few extra sensors that Android devices simply don't have at the moment. Namely, a flood illuminator and a dual camera setup that includes an IR sensor, which means the iPhone X can get an accurate 3D map of your face to prevent the system from being fooled by a 2D picture of the user. This won't be the case if you enable Trusted Face on Android, so it's not as secure. But if you're fine with that, I'll show you how to set it all up.
Step 1
Enable a Secure Lock Screen
First of all you'll need to make sure your phone has a proper lock screen set. This can either be a pattern, a PIN, or a password. If you don't already have a secure lock screen method enabled, it's easy to set up .
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 2
Find the Smart Lock Menu
Next, you'll need to find the Settings menu where you can adjust your phone's lock screen options, but this varies depending on what flavor of Android you're running. For most devices, head to the Security menu in the Settings app (or Security & Location on Android Oreo). For Samsung devices, head to the Lock Screen and Security menu in Settings instead.
Once inside the Security menu, find and select the "Smart Lock" entry. At this point, you'll be asked to confirm the pattern, PIN, or password that you use to unlock your phone, so take care of that, then move onto the next step.
Step 3
Enable 'Trusted Face'
From the Smart Lock menu, go ahead and select "Trusted Face." This will take you to a welcome screen that explains the feature, so go ahead and press the "Set Up" button, then tap "Next."
Important: This facial recognition is less secure than a PIN, pattern, or password. Someone who looks similar to you could unlock your phone.
Smart Lock doesn't store photos of you. Data used to recognize your face is kept only on your device. Apps can't see or use the data, and it isn't backed up on Google servers.
From here, you'll see a feed of your front-facing camera with an area circled in red. Make sure you're indoors in a well-lit area at this time, then line your phone up to where your entire face fits within the circle. Once you've done so, the red circle will be replaced with a blue progress bar while the system automatically scans your face. When the circle becomes entirely blue, you're all set to go, so tap "Done."
Step 4
Improve, or remove a trusted face
Improve your device's facial recognition
In the Smart Lock menu, tap Trusted face.
[*]Tap Improve face matching.
[*]Tap Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
Remove a trusted face
In the Smart Lock menu, tap Trusted face.
[*]Tap Remove trusted face.
[*]When asked if you want to remove the trusted face, tap Remove.
Step 5
Unlock Your Phone with Your Face
With everything set up, you're ready to unlock your phone with your face. When you wake your device, you'll see a small silhouette icon at the bottom of the lock screen indicating that the phone is looking for your face. Make sure to angle the phone to where it can see you, then this icon will change into an "unlocked" icon within a fraction of a second. At this point, you can simply swipe your screen to open your phone.
Considering that this feature has been around for over three years now, it almost feels like Apple's Face ID system is a direct copy with some extra security measures sprinkled in. The way you unlock an Android device using the Trusted Face feature is exactly how it works on the iPhone X, so you're getting a glimpse of the "next big thing" well before people in the Apple ecosystem can.
What are your thoughts on Apple's Face ID compared to Android's Trusted Face? Obviously, the former is much more secure, but the latter was years ahead and stands to catch up with the addition of a few hardware modules.
You can also use this feature if you're running custom ROM's..
I can confirm that its' working on my Moto G 2015 (Osprey) running Unofficial Lineage Os 14.1 with latest OpenGapps Nano

Thanks
Thread updated with [XPOSED] Instant Face Unlock module
Is there any way to deactivate the timeout? Once you turn on the screen, after some seconds, if the face is not recognized it stops looking for a face. Any way to be aware of this?
Hello, does anyone have face unlock working on Android Pie? I've added a trusted face, improved its recognition several times but system still offers only fingerprint or password unlock on the lock screen. Ty for the answers.

Mine is working , stock 9
Do you have a work email that security sensitive? If so, it probably blocks the face unlock option.

Nope, I've got just some IMAP accounts in Gmail app. Nothing special. I've removed trusted face, rebooted the system and added again, improved face
matching several times again, still no luck tho. I've also checked if Smart Lock is enabled in Trust agents. I'm on latest January 2019 update.
EDIT: I've just had an idea - what about VPN? I use L2TP/IPSEC to connect to work, maybe this can be security sensitive?
Having the same problem. it works on custom roms but not stock. I also lost the check for update button in settings.
So removing VPNs had no impact at all. I'm also on stock rom.

I'm on stock ROM with the December update, a few Magisk modules, EX Kernel 2.09, and that's it. It's working great with Android 9. If I swipe up before it recognizes my face them it won't unlock that is a normal built in feature.
You have the option available and selected for Face Unlock right? Obviously I don't because my work email dpesnt even let me set up Smart Unlock for face.

i hope you guys know that it doesnt automatically unlock it, itll scan for your face and then be unlocked but you still have to swype or something
Correct. At the bottom there'll be a lock symbol and it's show unlocked was the face is recognized right?

This is mine when I hit the power button. If I don't let it see my fave it changes to the fingerprint.

There's no silhoutte/face icon on mine when I hit the power button and the phone is locked. It immediately shows fingerpring icon :-/
EDIT: It's not a big deal anyway, I'm just wondering why my system acts this way.

I used to have this problem back on the Nov. security patch, it was so frustrating. One little difference was that mine would work one time after setting it up, then completely disappear. No amount of recognition improvements made it come back. I gave up at that point and some time in December I reflashed the factory image for other reasons and randomly tried it again and it started working. Now that it is working, I use AutoInput by joaomgcd which basically bypasses the lock screen after your face is recognized eliminating the swipe that is normally required and makes it exponentially faster than stock. If you feel up to it and have a Google edition Pixel 2 XL, try unlocking the bootloader and reflashing the factory image. Keep me updated if you find another solution or mine works for you as I'm very curious what is causing this.

Which font are you using? It looks pretty slick
Is there a way to unlock the phone with faceunlock all the way? not just to swipe to unlock. Like in oneplus devices, you look at the phone and the phone unlocks itself not needing to swipe to unlock.
I'm rooted, so any suggestions?
L.E. - I've managed to do this with AutoInput, is on playtore. Working great!
